Great menu, anyone would find plenty to choose from. Good wine list
Recommend trying the crumbed olives as a starter.

Great food, home-made meatballs, eggplant parma was great, nice wine.

We ordered a garlic bread, carbonara, Parma and a penne pasta dish with napoli sauce, as well as 2 cocktails and mixed drink. Everything went well but soon the mains started to come out and one was a seafood dish we didnt order in place of the Parma, and we hadn't had our garlic bread yet. I didn't catch our waiters name but he wore a vest and seemed to be a head waiter. He gave us a free round of drinks as well as a free desert to make up for the mistakes. We were more than happy without the added extras as we soon got the parmi and garlic bread we asked for but we were so pleased with the effort and care he had for the individual customers. I work as a waitress back home and it's not always easy. We really appreciated his kindness. Atmosphere was so comfortable; casual fine dining.
Would definitely come back if I were ever in Melbourne again

We we're seated right away and had our food within 20 minutes. My porterhouse was perfect and the linguine carbonara was unreal.

The service was polite and efficient, all the guests were offered hand sanitizer and the tables were sanitized right after the guests left.

We'll be back!

We were lured in by complimentary drinks. Food was nice, service was good, but we were very disappointed with the wine. Being an Italian restaurant I would have expected the wine to be of high quality. We got cheap wine insanely marked up in price. If they could change their wine choices they'd be on a winner!!

Great service and divine flavours. The home made, pan fried gnocci was an experience not to miss.

Had been for breakfast here. Place is set nicely with seating on laneway and heaters but breakfast was average in comparison to other breakfast places on the lane

Was disappointed with the service, steak and overall ambiance. I guess if your a tourist then it's ok but for a local, it's overpriced, fails to meet reasonable expectations and for the price, very under whelming. Guys, pick it up.

I was in a tour of over 100 people from Malaysia. For the past few days of our trip, meals have been not very pleasant due to the number of people we have for those restaurants to prepare. However, this particular restaurant was a pleasant surprise. It was the last dinner we were gonna have before leaving Melbourne. Food was absolutely fantastic, staffs were super friendly, especially a staff named Kosta. He is the BOMB. We had a full course from appetizers all the way to awesome desserts. We even celebrated May Babies Birthday here. Just wanna express my simple appreciation over here at Trip Advisor, Google, and Facebook. This is Ray Mak from YouTube.

The entree was nice but very small and overpriced. Two people ordered the pork belly and we were both very sick a few hours later. At the restaurant we were brought extra wines and drinks which we did not order. Once you are seated the care factor seemed to go out the door .
I certainly would not be returning .

Toby is an absolute legend. Had a last minute 21st birthday celebration for my partner and had the whole restaurant singing along. Was a fantastic night with lovely food. Thanks again Toby and staff!

Walking on Hardware Lane, was approached by a friendly waiter who showed us the menu, and talked us into dining for lunch and offered us a free drink for myself and my wife of either beer, wine or spirits.
We got sat down on table and were given menus, once we sat down we noticed that menu's provided to us were a higher prices than the menu shown to us at the front of the restaurant, I questioned the waiter he apologised, provided us with the correct lunch menu, as we were given the dinner menu and all was forgiven.
For starters we ordered the 1/2 dozen Kilpatrick and trio of dips. I have to say the trio of dips was very well presented, very appealing to the eyes and tasted delicious, the oysters were nothing special.
For my main I ordered mushroom truffle gnocchi with Chorizo and I have to say it was delicious, so much flavour, it was stunning, chef should be proud.
My wife ordered chicken Mirabella and the chicken breast was overcooked and burnt on one side, the mushroom sauce was tasteless and overall it was a very disappointing dish and unlike the previous dish the chef should be disappointed with producing such a poor dish for a basic dish.
I went to counter and paid for the bill based on trust, once I reviewed the bill I found that they had charged us for the so called "free drinks" and for the Chicken Mirabella we were charged the dinner price of $24 instead of the lunch price of $19.50, this added and additional $24.00 to my bill which left a very sour taste and disappointing end, my advise to anyone here is to review your bill before paying.

I love Hardware lane and Grill Steak and Seafood is a gem. Good quality meat matched with a good red makes it a place to go for a late lunch or even dinner. Service is very good. Atmosphere very pleasant

good. On the last day of Melbourne, kangaroo steak - a scent similar to sheep - was tender and tasty. Tone is fine, too. It's good to have a lot of outdoor tables with European feel at nearby restaurants in Melbourne at night time.

I had a great experience having seafood like in Italy. Vito was great and made us feel comfortable. I definitely recommend this place.

Monday evening, the first night of our honeymoon almost a year ago, we stumbled onto this place, and were so glad we did. It was a quieter night for them, service was good and the food was just superb. I hope they can repeat it this year.

I had to come back again for the steak. Just perfect. It was a bit of a leap of faith as while the steak was excellent the first time around, the service was prickly to say the least. Totally different level of service the second time around and enjoyed the lunch.

Not only was the food exceptional but the hospitality was also on point. We were greeted and seated and the table was set up, attended on, and cleared quickly. The staff were friendly and the restaurant had a relaxed vibe. We ordered some cocktails which were very reasonably priced and very alcoholic, and the porterhouse steak and chips. Hands down the best steak I have had, and no surcharge on new year's day! Thank you so much for making our night. We will be back.

Great service and lots of fun. Sadly the food didn't measure up to the rest of Hardware Lane. Under cooked and over cooked food. Frozen microwave food may have been better. Definately not up to Hardware Lane standards.

Visited this place twice in two days awesome pasta dishes "better than nannas gnocchi" my girlfriend said. Staff are entertaining with great humor. also some of the best table service I've had. Must visit restaurant a great dining experience. Staff are always trying hard to keep you happy.

Very disappointed with this place. The food was terrible! Couldn't eat it. Melbourne is full of great places to eat so definitely give this one a miss.

It was a rainy winter weekday evening, so things were quiet. My work colleague and I were offered a free appetizer and first drink as enticement - though we already were going to go to GSS from another colleague's recommendation ;-). (The drinks menu has a printed red against items that you will get it if you receive a drink offer - I took the yummy Tiger beer - so negotiate the deal! ) We ordered the bruschetta, a porterhouse steak each and the steamed vegetables. Bruschetta was nice surprise - different from regular take using sliced Roma tomatoes, rocket and a balsamic drizzle on nice crusty bread. The generous enough steak was great (mine medium done) - tasty, nice slight crust grill and still moist inside. Vegetables were tasty add firm. Chips ( which come with the steak) had a good crunch with a subtle coating, fluffy inside and not oily. Nice wait staff. Really pleasant meal. Highly recommended.

Highly recommended for a afternoon brunch as we had. Outdoor heaters were amazing as the weather was cold & raining. Child had the spaghetti bolognese which was absolutely delicious, generous size aswel. We started off with bread & dips, great for a entree, dips were tasty. I had the chicken wrapped in prosciutto it was devine! Partner had the ribs. He said they were a little spicy for him but he still enjoyed it. Overall great experience! Thank you

Great food, impeccable service. They do offer kangaroo, very much worth a try especially if you never had it before. Also had the beef cheeks, which was super tender and flavorful.

Good grief, the ribs were bad, Henry our dog might have turned his nose up at them. I don t think the staff were happy with the working environment. No complaints on the Campari spritz though.

Came here for breakfast around midday with three other people. Food was served quickly and the portion was quite generous, as well as tasty. Our coffee was given to us for free which was a nice bonus.

Had a great time here last night! Exceptional service with amazing tasting food! One of the best mussels and garlic prawns I ve ever had. Would definitely recommend this exclusive restaurant and a massive BONUS with certified halal food. Can t wait to be in Melbourne at this restaurant again. Steak impossible to eat. Spoke to the manager who suggested I could get a replacement "but only off the appetiser menu" . Give it a miss.

Went for coffee and dessert and it was absolutely disgusting.

Cold coffee and tiramisu was way over priced for what it was. i wouldn't even pay a dollar for it. It wasn't even made with cream it was made with vanilla custard... how embarrassing

Dinner TripAdvisor introduces Grill Steak Seafood, there is only one station left at the door, the whole street is the most people to catch D., but the time from the bottom to the food is almost 45 minutes, the taste is good, the worst It is Qingkou, it may be overcooked, and there is less shell! Pan-fried salmon skin is not crispy and meaty with D , really not good! The grilled pork ribs have too much sauce on the surface, and the fleshy taste is not grilled. It seems to be coated with sauce after being cooked with water! The beef salad is just fine. The overall table is too thin. The position is not enough to put a few dishes of the main dish. It is necessary to add a shelf, but the service is acceptable, the price is reasonable, but the environment is general, and some friends may like this feeling atmosphere!

Amazing lunch menu with absolutely delicious food. To top with that friendly staff and great ambience on Hardware Lane. Tough to beat this place.
I gried grilled Barramundi, which to my absolute delight came with Mussels & Pipi-Clams as well and was very delicious. I also loved their Bruchetta, had great flavours though wish the salad (rockets) were a bit more fresh.

Overpriced food, quality okay but you will not get what you're paying for. Chef's choice tasting platter kind of felt like the chef had bad taste and poor judgement with food.
First round of drinks only free on a Sunday night if you order main courses, so "read the fine print" when offered.
If you're looking for Italian food and wine, keep looking.

Excellent kangaroo. We went there yesterday afternoon and it was quite busy but even so plenty of tables were available both inside and outside. Service was quick and food cooked perfectly. Hardware Lane has loads of restaurants but we had previously read the reviews for this establishment online. We will return if we get the chance.

Was enticed by the manager to eat here offering 15% off the bill. Had the beef cheeks for main which were delicious. Breaded olives & a trio of dips to share for entree. Overall happy fed belly for the evening. Reasonably priced. Staff were pleasant.

I had the Truffle Gnocchi and my partner had the porterhouse and we loved every bite. I would also like to add that the creme brulee was perfect! If I wasnt from Perth this place would be my regular.. :)

5 stars service , the manager was very helpful and caring , my food had a little broken plastic chip , they offered the replacement which i refuse , but at the end the manager give us free drinks on the house.
