very kind but-- euthenized newborn squirrel immediately without giving us enough of a chance to see if mother would find it. By law couldn't give it back to me they said. I would not bring newborn babies in and instead look online try to rehab yourself. There's plenty of info out there like I could have rehydrated with pedialite (possibly if not too severe) then introduced slowly with mixed puppy milk (Espilac-PegAg) and then put out with a warm pad in a box to see if mother would find it. He would at least have half a chance then. Euthanizing gave him 0 chance. Disappointed.

They failed to return our call.

They failed to return our call.
We called Greenwood Wildlife moments after accidentally disrupting a baby rabbit nest. No after hours contact or callback. We felt pretty hopeless. The Rehabilitation sites state NOT give them food or water. And do NOT handle. I understand this for some situation but not when it comes to baby bunnies. We resorted to loosely piecing together advice over the internet. Would ve been nice to have local support to guide us through a really stressful time in trying to save a litter of bunnies. Several days later we stumbled onto Colorado House of Rabbits website. They have two ~2 licensed wildlife rehabilitators for infant rabbits. The rehabilitor in Larkspur is highly regarded. These experts should be at the very top of google search for Rabbit rehabilitation instead of Greenwood Wildlife. Hindsight, we should ve just watched YouTube videos on how to feed baby bunnies while waiting for the right rehabilitator to take them in. Time is of the essence as infants can t survive long without milk. We should have checked their bellies in the morning for plumpness, that would have told us if mom had returned. We call wildlife experts for guidance & help. It wasn t until we spoke to the rehabilitor in Larkspur that we got that. It could ve been a simple rescue with a $6 can of KMR and an eye dropper. Rabbits are not rodents, they bring joy to a lot of children & adults. They re native to this area, and deserve the same level of compassion as any other infant wildlife in distress. The M.O. should be to help rescue these babies ASAP, not nonchalantly assume mom will return while they slowly starve.

I talked on the phone and the person helping me was sweet, nice, and kind. She was also very helpful and explanatory to the situation. I now know a lot more about the cycle of baby birds learning to fly.

I found a baby squirrel in my backyard. After trying all the suggestions I got from staff via phone to reunite baby with momma I ended up taking him to Greenwood. I was so glad to have an option to try and help him. Sadly it was determined he was too weak and underweight and he was humanely euthanized. Thank you Greenwood for helping me try to help this poor little baby.

Refused to help with an injured Pelican at Crown Hill Park. Very disappointing.

When I called Chelsea per her suggestion below, her support was to try to talk me through how to catch the pelican myself.

I found three young pigeons who had fallen from their nest in my neighborhood. I called several times and they helped me evaluate the birds needs, make a nest for them, and then recommend that I bring them in. The people i interacted with were incredibly kind and helpful.

I just wanted to sing praises to greenwood wildlife! I found a little baby bird trapped in my window well and I had no idea how to help this little bird, so I called in for advice and Amanda at the desk was so helpful and friendly she expressed genuine concern and walked me through every step of what to do and how to help make sure that the little guy was reunited with its family and what signs to watch for. Luckily we didn t need any further care for the bird but I am so grateful at Greenwood Wildlife s willingness to help! And Amanda was so patient with my questions and concerns, what a wonderful staff!

Super friendly staff, I can tell that they love all the animals. I have brought two injured pelicans to them and they were the only ones that would help. All of the other places such as the division of wildlife and the Larimer county humane society would not help, they told me to let nature take its course. The first pelican needed antibiotics, and greenwood gave it antibiotics, housed him for the winter, and released him the following spring. I just brought my second pelican with a broken wing and they took him right in!! Absolutely love these guys!!!!!!! Thank u greenwood wildlife rehabilitation!!!

We took in a injured bunny and they took great care with it. They told us the best way to transport to the place so that we didn t cause more trauma to the animal. They even gave us a card so we can stay updated on what happens to the little guy.

Found a nestling in a chicken coop we had just purchased. I cared for this little sparrow for 2 weeks before taking her in. Very much regret that decision. She was growing and responding, (she'd chirp at me), to her name, "Cooper". You become quite attached when you are feeding something every one to two hours! I was in no position to keep a pet Sparrow, so that is why I thought taking her in to Greenwood was a good idea. They insisted! Promised! That she would be released with other Sparrows back at my property, they "had to release them within a certain distance of where they were found". They said they would contact me, but never did, so I reached out and was told I could come and pick her and some other birds up on Friday. I called to arrange this and was told by the receptionist that she was released on Monday! The receptionist didn't ask the bird's ID number, btw... Then when I complained, I was told, "the important thing is that WE were able to save her". What a crock!! I was taking care of that bird every day for two weeks and she was very healthy when I dropped her off. The vibes when I dropped her off were horrible and the receptionist was was exceptionally rude. I understand they see hundreds, if not thousands of birds, but don't LIE to people. I was very involved with her care and it made me so happy to think she might actually come back to my ranch and live in my barn! How cool would that have been!!?? It's obvious they really don't Give A S**t and can say whatever they want to people and when in fact, it is empty words. I'm sure they do good things here, certainly hope so, but this case was really very poorly handled. Thanks for reading my long rant, if you made it this far.

They killed the baby squirrel within 10 minutes of me leaving. I decided to go back and get it because I felt they weren't going to care for it, but it was too late. They should have told me on the phone before I drove all the way to Longmont that a two week old would be killed. I informed them on the phone that it was practically a newborn. It all happened so fast. If the critter you find is too young, now this ... they will kill it in a NY minute. Had I known what they were going to do... I would have spent a couple more days trying to reunite the little one w/mama squirrel.

Absolutely amazing people. We found an infant raccoon abandoned on an embankment near a river while fishing, dehydrated and malnourished but still fighting to stay alive. Tried to contact the Parks and Wildlife staff, Animal Control, and was told just leave it they won't touch it. I'm like why the heck would I leave this guy to die when he can have a long and happy life. So we found Greenwood while looking up local wildlife rescues and despite low staff and being packed they agreed to lend the guy a hand and do their best to help him win his war against death.

We called this place in hopes they could take in some baby raccoons we had so that they could be taken care of properly. They told us they would call us back and asked for our name and address, they called animal control on us and the animal control came and took away two 6-10week old baby raccoons, the animal control told us they would test these perfectly fine baby raccoons for rabies and euthanize them. We took in these baby raccoons so that they would live and not die, thanks to this place they re going to die.

Very disappointed with this rehabilitation center....

Very disappointed with this rehabilitation center. I found a sparrow nestling, which means that it was still blind and without feathers. I was unable to find a nest anywhere, so I brought it inside and kept it warm and fed it every hour throughout the night until this center opened. I called them as soon as they opened and explained the situation. They told me to drive the hour down to bring him in and they would do everything that they could. Once I got down there and they took him from me to examine him, they informed me that they did not have 24 hour care and he probably would not make it. I had no problem giving him the 24 hour care and had the necessities, however they refused to give him back. When I called back later, I was told that they had put him down because he needed to be cared for continually and they didn't have the time. While young and needing constant care, I know that this bird was healthy and improving, as he was eating, pooping, moving (he was such a little wiggler!), and chirping. I am beyond disappointed, as I expressed explicitly that I wanted to care for the bird, however they refused to give him back only to kill him. I would give this center a lower rating, unfortunately one star is the lowest available.
