GBMC was there for me when I needed them even during a pandemic. They correctly and properly diagnosed me when I went in. Great hospital. Nice staff. Long wait times though and I wish they were more clear on my discharge paperwork. Also, wish they would have contacted my nurse practitioner to resolve my issue. Good hospital experiences overall when I go there. Charging station needs new chargers though. None of them worked for my phone.

My past experiences were good. But today just wasn t great at all. I ve waited so far for 3.5 hours for my son to be seen. When I asked about the waitlist, I was informed that I could potentially wait another 3 hours before being seen. I understand that it is flu season but this is ridiculous. I am watching adults come and go while the children are crying, uncomfortable and sick wait for drastic hours. I am beyond upset with GBMC today. This is ridiculous and not good health care practice.

This is the worst blood draw I have ever experienced. The two nurses first examined my son's arms and finally determined one of them to draw blood. They inserted the entire needle into his arm and found no blood coming out. They took turns to move the needle in my son's arm and still couldn't find the blood vessels. My son cried very badly!
At last, another nurse was very easy to find the blood vessels and complete the blood draw.
I know that nurses also need to practice, but don't take children to practice! My son is only two years old! Listening to his painful crying, I tried my best to hold back and didn't conflict with the nurses!

I was here over the weekend and everyone from the guard at entrance to ER to the guys who wheeled me about were absolutely polite and welcoming and helpful. The nurses and nursing assistants, the lady who cleaned my room, the people who cooked and brought my food, the doctors, the lab techs, the office personnel... Everyone helped me be more at ease.

Very thorough too. I will go back to this hospital from here on. Its excellant.

I am pregnant and had complications from high blood pressure so had to be admitted to L&D. My first day was met with caring nurses, who truly show their strong work ethic. However, the second day Taylor Conway who works in Labor and Delivery was unacceptable. I need not to go into too much detail. I will say my blood pressure shot up and at this point I am calling a lawyer. She put my life and the life of my unborn child at risk.

For ms. Duvall: I have been a patient at GBMC for many years. It helps to get a map of the campus to navigate, although the signs are good. Park by the main hospital and everything but Bluebell is within walking distance. All on the same road. That way it is easy. If you want to park right in front of your building...you can't. It is a BIG medical center. Prepare for a couple of minutes of a walk. If you can't walk or are too lazy, then you have fewer choices. People .. employees.. are friendly. It also helps if you are pleasant as no one likes dealing with a screamer. GBMC saved my life.. I love those doctors.

Idk if its because i came to ER 930 am on a Thursday but I have had a great experience here. Staff was quick and attentive. I even had to have emergency surgery and that was a breeze as well. Everyone made me feel comfortable and didn t work my nerves up by having me sitting around for hours and misinformed. I was informed of everything going on and given best options and encouragements. The GyN department was great as well as the ER doc. Best hospital i have been too TBH. Only thing was they tried to talk to me while I was still doped up from anesthesia loll so now gotta wait for the residents in the morning to see what all happened during surg and etc. i leave tomorrow anyway.

Even with a referral Dr. Beckman refused to see me. I was told by her staff that she does not help diagnose diseases that could be diagnosed by my primary care physicans and that i have to go back to the doctor that referred me to her Infectious Desease profession. Having respiratory issues. DO NO HARM huh...by delaying diagnosis it may.

Always had a good experience at GBMC for my previo...

Always had a good experience at GBMC for my previous stays. This time was different. Started at the Women's & Outpatient Surgical Center. Was scheduled for surgery at 10am. Didn't go back to 1pm. Asked the nurses what was going on and they said the 1pm patient (3rd on the schedule) showed up at 6am so they took her first, the 8am scheduled patient (Planned 1st patient) showed up late but they waited for her. So I sat waiting with not one person telling me, I had to ask. They could have called me before I showed up and let me stay home until my new scheduled time. Then after my surgery, they forgot about me in the recovery room. I was supposed to be transported to a regular room at 430pm and sat there until 7pm. The surgical center closed at 5pm. The 2 nurses that had to wait for me to get a room were frustrated because they wanted to go home and sat and whispered (or so they thought) about me. They took my cell phone from me and said I had it long enough and handed it to my husband and then asked my mother and husband leave and go wait in my room that I would eventually be transported to. I was in the middle of watching my daughter's live streamed performance as she took the phone. She didn't want to be held responsible for the phone during transport. She didn't even transport me and someone would have had to snatch the phone out of my hand. Had my surgery not been delayed 3 hours and then forgotten for 2.5 hours I wouldn't have missed the live stream but since they had made these mistakes you would think they would provide some accommodations but none were. Then I get to my regular room...treatment no better. Everytime I pushed the nurse button I felt like I was a bother to the stuff. The nurse that came in to take my blood mumbled every time I asked a question or just flat out ignored me. No hi or bye as she entered or exited the room. Terrible experience, guess I'll try St. Joseph or Johns Hopkins next time.

Having a head injury and uncontrollable migraines I am in the ER more then I would like to be.. but there is a DR Williams that works nights that is the Nicest Doc that I have ever met he talks to you like a person and dose not judge you.. Dr Williams is the reason I come to use GBMC I sometimes wish he would open a private practice... I wish him the best and Godspeed because he is what makes GBMC great.

I went to the ER 2 days post-op for trouble breath...

I went to the ER 2 days post-op for trouble breathing on instructions from my surgeon's office, who was concerned about a blood clot or a serious reaction to the pain medication. When I got there, I didn't feel like the reception staff really listened to what I had to say. When the nurse took me to the room to take my vitals, I looked down next to me and there was a piece of gauze with someone else's blood sitting in my chair. It was SO gross!!

Being 2 days post-op, I was in a lot of pain in the waiting room so I asked for something to help and the nurse told me I could take the medication I brought with me. I explained to her that I felt like my breathing troubles were a reaction to the pain medication and asked for something else to take the edge off. She came back a while later with the SAME medication I already had, but thankfully my sister was there and paying attention and realized it. We asked for something else and she said that's all she could give me. I had to pretty much beg her for some Tylenol to take the edge off.

When I finally did get called back, the Dr was rude and wouldn't listen to what I was saying. They did tests and ruled out a blood clot, but couldn't give me a reason why I was having trouble breathing. He said it was impossible for the pain medication to cause that kind of reaction, and I must just have anxiety issues or something. Which I don't, and it wasn't that kind of an issue at all.

By this time, the pain medication I took prior to going was out of my system and I was feeling a lot better so I just went home and called my surgeon's office and they gave me a new prescription. I also googled the old medication and spoke with my surgeon at my follow-up appt a few days later, and come to find out it's a well-known serious side effect and I literally could have died if I kept taking it and couldn't wake myself up to breathe.

The nurses were really nice and caring, but I refuse to tolerate incompetent doctors. If given a choice, I will not ever be returning to this ER again.

Was trying to make an appointment with a GI doctor was literally on hold for 25 minutes, so I hung up and retried calling in case it was an oversight. Again I was on hold for 15 minutes just to set up an appointment. Since there is such a high volume of calls, you may want to hire more receptionists to schedule appointments.

Melissa BSN, RN is the definition of phenomenal. S...

Melissa BSN, RN is the definition of phenomenal. She is, for sure, the woman of the night and deserves some recognition. When I first walked in here, gasping for breath and unable to catch it, I was honestly ready to leave. The moment the staff found out I suffered from a mental disability--even on the most minor of scales--, it became everyone's sole focus, and seemed to almost dictate their reactions and treatment. I felt singled-out and like every diagnosis from there on out would come right back around to my mental illness. However, it didn't touch her. She made sure that I wasn't treated any differently, and even stayed in the room with me for as long as possible in between her treks to retrieve supplies, ensuring that I didn't experience any more discomforts, and acting as my liaison of sorts. She reassured me that she, herself, was a mental illness advocate, and that she would never let me be treated any differently because of my prior diagnoses. She ended up being this night's saving-grace, turning a stressful and disconcerting situation into one of ease and reassurance. If I could solely rate employees, she would, for sure, receive a five-star rating, no question about it. She is the reason I'm leaving this hospital with the treatment I needed, and I honestly could probably never thank her enough.

This whole place is hell. If you have never been here and you have an appointment for radiology don't go to Radiology because they're not there anymore they've moved across the entire campus to a whole different building. Be sure to leave an hour early so that you can navigate all the stupid little signs that point to nowhere and all the dead ends and stop signs that don't actually mean anything. They are parking garages are an absolute complete mess. Their parking lots are not for patients... although they are completely empty. So for instance if you have an enlarged cyst covering your ovary you are required to walk 1/2 Mile possibly in the right direction.. but probably in the wrong direction to where you might or might not have to be.

*** they give you a ticket when you get on campus and charge you when you leave probably because they know you will get lost and we'll have to be there longer than you wanted to be in order to charge you more money.***

A family member has been in an out of the hospital for a few years now. Unless you know where you are going the hallways are a confusing deserted maze. Most of the staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Parking always costs money, and you have to walk kind of far from the garage to the hospital.

We just had a baby.... and a 4 night stay. The hospital doctors and staff get 5 stars. Amazing.

The cafeteria has a selection of terrible expensive food. Dont eat the chicken nuggets or hamburgers.

The meals provided by the hospital are slightly better than the cafeteria. The way you order food is archaic you have to call in your order... most of the time you are missing something you ordered.

Pro tip for parking.... buy a parking pass if you ir your guest are coming and going to visit more than 2 days. If you drove yourself use the valet parking its only 5 bucks and u can park for as long as you want.

Last week my wife, ten weeks pregnant, experienced cervical bleeding. Fearing the worse, we immediately went to the ER at GMBC. Given her situation, the ER sent us downstairs to the OB triage unit. Crying and sitting in a pool of her blood for two hours, the clinical staff bumped her waiting position for patients with "more serious conditions." Once back in the triage room, the clinical staff administered tests off and on, all while we continued to wait for another 3 hours. Finally, the Nurse Practitioner informed us that the ultrasound couldn t find a pregnancy and that our baby was most likely a pile of mush. No hospital should have such demeaning polices nor should anyone have to tolerate such degrading staff. I would not recommend this OB department to anyone

Most of my doctors have their offices on the GBMC Campus. In addition, I recently went the ER, then had emergency surgery. The wait was too long in the ER. I knew I dangerously ill
and actually begged a nurse going back in after getting something to eat, to help me get in front of a doctor. Thank goodness I did, it saved my life. My 6 day stay was very nice and all nirses and staff were very involved, very friendly, very responsive and helpful. Everyone from Doctors to Teansport Staff, went out of their way to make sure I was well taken care of and tried to brighten my day. Great hospital, great staff, beautiful grounds. The prices are high, but you can dispute and apply for a reduction in charges through a hardship program they offer, if you qualify.

I've been Having brain and vision issues for 3 weeks . I had an MRI done and a vision check up by an Ophthalmologist at GBMC. There appears to be no urgency from anyone except from me concerned why my eyes are swimming in my head and my vision isn't correct and I feel dizzy the doctors know this, I scheduled two neurological appointments both have been canceled in one week. We've had bad experiences in the past at gbmc also with people being overdosed and not watched after properly in the hospital I think I'm just going to find a better hospital to deal with. Very very disappointed with GBMC and their healthcare. So I call their HR dept. who transfers me to patient advocacy and i get a voicemail. That place us horrible.

Last year, I was in a car accident and the driver tried to drive away, blame me, then cried when the officer told her she was going to have a hard time defending herself to the insurance companies. GET THE FEES THEY CHARGE IN ADVANCE of any services being provided!

I've been going back and forth with them for 2 years now on services they provided. They had a sign on the desk suggesting one price for the services and when the bill came it was entirely different. When I complained, they said I missed the fine print and they offered a payment plan, but no willingness to accept responsibility or to reduce the fees. "Our fees are approved by the State"...so you are basically screwed (my addition not in quotes)...nice place.

Went to the BBB and GBMC has yet to respond. They are obviously VERY concerned about the consumer (that's sarcasm).

First time ever being at this hospital. I thought ...

First time ever being at this hospital. I thought i was having a heart attack. Within 10 minutes of arriving i was being hooked up to an EKG followed by getting my blood drawn. Approximately 5 minutes after that was finished i was put in a room. The doctor came in to see me shortly after. Sent me for a CT scan. I was in and out of the hospital within about 3 hours. Everyone that worked there treated me fantastic! Very friendly and accommodating staff. I was scared for my life and every single person from the EKG tech to the people doing my CT scan were very comforting and polite. The only issue i had was that my husband and two children could not come back to my room with me. We were told 'No more than 2 people visiting in a room' which kind of broke me a little because i had no one to take my kids so my husband could be with me. I was terrified and wanted comfort from my kids and husband. I understand policies and rules, but it was only making me feel worse and more scared for my life being alone with my thought while i waited for all my blood work and test results to come back. Aside from that i am very pleased with how i was treated and how pleasant and comforting everyone was to me. Thanks GBMC!

Showed up with unbearable chest pain and a reaction from a normal dose of a prescription drug I was taking. Somehow ended up in the psychiatric unit for people that would self harm. And proceeded to have a panic attack, they did nothing but watch me in agony. When I should have been in an actual hospital unit. You guys wouldn't let me leave this "lockdown" unit. Holding me against my will for now reason at all. Eventually they realized their mistake but the damage was already done. Never ever going back. I advise others to stay away.

My delivery and postpartum stay was great however ...

My delivery and postpartum stay was great however Ashlee Mayfield of Medical Records has been an absolute horror to work with. She submitted the incorrect spelling of one of my daughter's name, swapped my twins birth information and didn't submit paperwork for one of them to Vital Records. We received their birth announcements via mail and noticed the incorrect spelling but figured we could simply ask vital records and social security to make the correction. Vital records stated that they had never received paperwork for my one child and social security needs corrected paperwork from the hospital. I spoke with Ashlee and was immediately met with attitude and constantly cut off while explaining my situation. She placed blame on everyone else and stated that she would be sending the corrected information to myself and vital records soonest. (I have yet to receive it a week later) She also stated "that's it?" as if my situation was too minor for her to have been called and bothered with. We went to Vital records that day, they received nothing. My husband called her to confirm that she sent it, was greeted with attitude and again she placed blame elsewhere. A process that should have been smooth sailing has become a pure headache and inconvenience. If you're okay running around town like a goose with its head cut off after giving birth and toting around newborns.... Then by all means, give birth here. Ashlee is totally unprofessional and incompetent.

If I could give 0 stars I would. This place is slow and incompetent. I brought my mother in with severe gastrointestinal issues at 9:45 PM. I am writing this at 2:45 AM waiting for blood test results done at 10:30 and a CAT scan done at 2:15 AM. This is pathetic. The front nurses do not know how to communicate with other departments, and there is nothing hospitable about this place. I will never come here or recommend to anyone.

I had been seeing Dr. Slack at GBMC who is a lung specialist. My first appointment with him was great and he was very nice. I had an appointment last Friday at 10am. Granted I got there 10 minutes late but I was taken back in. Got my blood pressure, weight, etc taken. I had also given a copay to go in. After 25 minutes I was told that since I was 10 minutes late that the doctor is no longer available and can t see me anymore. I m shocked at the lack of professionalism and miscommunication. I had to wait an additional 20 minutes for them to refund me for the copay as well. It s frustating to make the commute there from Annapolis and be treated as if I m not valuable at all.

Waited in the waiting room for 9 hours just to have my father seen by a doctor for a possible stroke. 6 hours in we were told we were next. 2 hours later we were told the same thing. Patients around us were complaining that they had IV lines in for over an hour after they were finished. There was used cups, napkins, and other trash on the floor. The nurses are good but the ER Doctors there are not very engaged, they seek to make all the vital stats match the recomended levels so they can legally discharge the patients, but take no effort to find what the root cause of the problem is or to seperate symptoms vs causes. If you have a choice in the matter, go elsewhere, this hospital appears to be treating patients with "shotgun medicine"-- take in as many patients as possible with the most minimal medical treatment as is legally required so the hospital can maximize its profits.

My son had broken his elbow and his school nurse ask us to take him to GBMC emergency medicine. So went there. They took some xrays and after some deliberations told us that they cant fixed it at GBMC and referred us to Johns Hopkins. All they did there were taking xrays and put an IV (which the nurse had some issue with). They called the Hopkins team and Hopkins took care after that with no glitch (thats why Hopkins is no 1 hospital). Now all said and done, I started to get bills from GBMC, from all over the places, their hospital billing, their physicians billing and what not. For just putting my son in the room for 1 hr and giving no care whatsoever GBMC billed my insurance thousands of dollors of which I end up paying some significant portion. The physician's practice billed us more than $2000 when the doc even didnt come to see us when we were there. I felt like I was being ripped off from every department of this hospital. I dont understand how they could bill so much money to my insurance while providing us no care whatsoever. Looks like thats their way of making most of their money. I was very disappointed wiih their behavior.

If you want pain meds and your pain to be masked and your medical needs ignored so they can send you home and misdiagnose you, come here! If you want real help with people who actually care, drive right down the road to St. Joes. Yesterday my bf was given a cat scan and blood work at GBMC, they told him that his abdominal pain was likely gas related when the scans were coming up "normal." The pain meds weren't working and I thought that was strange because if it was gas, that should work for him. The pain persisted and got increasingly worse after they sent us home. We went to St. Joes for a 2nd opinion. It took them no more than 3 hours to run another cat scan and find acute appendicitis, which was ruled out by GBMC. Done with this hospital, I will never return.

My friend went to this hospital ER with breathing problems and chest pains they made him wait 7 hours before he was seen. Once the staff got him to the back, the nurse ask him why did he wait so long to come to the hospital. WOW really! He's only been setting in the ER waiting area struggling to breath for the last SEVEN HOURS. I would not recognize this hospital to anyone.
