I'll try to be as pleasant as possible. Took my nursing wife to the ER this Sunday morning January 29, 2017 because i couldn't see my wife in so much pain and agony for two more days until she sees her doctor on Tuesday the 31st, of January. She has been suffering from hemorrhoids and after she gave birth it has gotten to a point where she can't sleep and she is truly suffering after every bowl movement. We arrived at the ER at approx. 9:09am and we expressed the above written and even more to the front nurse. The nurse didn't seem to care or try to get her examined quickly as possible. The nurse called her name aprrox. 11:10pm to be seen by the Doctor. The Doctor examined her around 11:55pm and said "He told me they might need to numb the area and drain out all that blood" the exact text I received from my wife. I was happy that they were going to help relieve her from her pain and agony. However, she had to wait on the surgeon to come in. The surgeon came in and examined my wife and asked her " where exactly does it hurt" my wife was in disbelief she would ask her that because it hurt in the whole general area where the hemorrhoid and tear is. The surgeon said " They said unfortunately hemmroids and tears don't have any urgent surgical intervention " my wife replied to the surgeon "I kept asking about surgical intervention and nothing she said unfortunately nothing can be done". Then my wife texted me while I waited outside in the waiting room with our 6 week old , "She didn't even talk about draining it to relief my pain ". We walked into the ER of GBMC to get my wife treated and cared for and walked out with no treatments. We hope they send out bill to our lawyer.

***note this is not intended to tranish the hospital or staff that was working today January 29, 2017. But to simply state you as a whole neglected to treat a Nursing Mother to a 6 week old baby which is in severe pain and agony. ***

The internal medicine office does not care if you ...

The internal medicine office does not care if you are in pain for YEARS if you are under the age of 40 they do anything possible to give you crappy medications they know suck. They are more concerned about their licenses then their patients and ongoing pain. If you are under the age of 30 they age descriminate you and just assume you are going to abuse or sell any opiates. So do not go here if you are in any type of pain because they abaolutely do not care and will just discriminate against your age.

Update, two weeks later. I still have a giant bruise where that nurse Carmen put in the IV in. She also lied about when she gave me the radioactive dye - instead of 2 hrs later, she sent me to the catscan 30 min later. I don't appreciate nurses who act like I don't know anything and they do, even though this one can't be bothered to even tell time. I also accidentally spilled some dye on the cot and instead of wiping off the liquid which would have taken one minute, she just laid a pad on it. I had to lay on a wet cot. What great care!!! I wasnt in the worst situation but cant help thinking that one day, this nurse is going to make a serious mistake that is going to have greater consequences.
Because of the time, I did not have the longest wait. Kind staff, but way too many - i think i interacted with about 12. They were kind of disorganized, was always having vitals taken. One guy said he was a doctor and touched my stomach. The whole thing was kind of weird because I didn't see any name tag, and another doctor had already touched my stomach a short time ago. I wasn't crazy about all the tests. I was here for a more minor problem that I have on occasion and already know about, and didn't think I needed all the tests and time. I was told all different things by the staff. After 5 hours, I had to take care of some mental health stuff and wanted to leave. A doctor offered me a strong sedative without even asking me about my mental health condition, Not one question. That's when I decided I definitely have to leave.
And not everyone is comfortable with hospitals and being coerced into having radioactive dye injected in you. And then she wrote down if I left, I could die. Really nice to hear for my mental health! (I dont care if she is required to say that, why would anyone think thats ok to say to someone?) And no one bothered to explain or provide aftercare. Wow, never experienced that at any other hospital before!

Visited the ER this evening for my 6 month old son who was having cold/flu symptoms with projectile throw up. Triage wait wasn t long but waited for over 5 hours for a SMALL CHILD to be seen. He got so restless, angry, and wouldn t sleep so we decided to leave. Came in a little before 9:30 and left at 2:30am all for nothing. They told us at the desk that he was next, but it may take several hours for him to be called because of how crowded and severe things were with other patients. No way in the world an infant should have to wait that long for treatment. Should have went with my gut and taken him to Hopkins but opted out because of distance. Never again. Nurse also refused to give me a work note since we were not seen by a doctor. At that point we walked out the door. Better off waiting until the morning to call the pediatrician.

This has been the worst experience ever. I was in the ER on 11/1/2017 at 1:43 AM got a room right away, but it took almost 5.5 Hours to see a DR in my room.. then around 7:30 AM the DR said I'm getting Discharge but never seen my paper and it's 9:40 AM and counting. I understand they have critical patients but someone need to communicate with other patient instead letting others waiting in the room and pressing the button doesn't help. You would think other nurses will help other patients if your nurse is busy.

Need to complain to someone but who.

Our children were born here, and we were more than satisfied with the experience. Our doctors and nurses were so kind and warm, and our rooms were comfortable. They also offer an excellent class to expecting parents. I can't really speak to any branch of the hospital outside of maternity, but I felt that we were in good hands.

I cannot express my gratitude for the Nurses, Doctors, Nurse Assistants, Transporters and every person I have been in contact this past week at GBMC. I can t imagine being in a hospital that has taken the Covid-19 situation any more serious than GBMC. These are the most dedicated folks I have come across. Thank you from the bottom of my for my numerous cups of ice chips and helping me get well enough to go home

ATTENTION: GBMC NURSE JEFF MARTIN TURNS INTO DETEC...

ATTENTION: GBMC NURSE JEFF MARTIN TURNS INTO DETECTIVE:

I'm writing about my personal experience on 6/9/2019, and the document I am quoting from is available to the public and is public information at the Towson District Court House.

This is what GBMC charged my mom and me with after my mom borrowed an oxygen tank:

On 06/09/2019 at approximately 1926 hours, I was dispatched to the Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) located at 6701 N. Charles St, 21204 in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, I was met by Complainant Vernon Williams.
Complainant Williams (GBMC security officer) advised that two female subjects stole an oxygen tank from the emergency department .He stated that Defendant [name redacted] and her mother, Co-defendant [name redacted], had been in the E.R. for treatment and, after being discharged, took a GBMC wheelchair with an oxygen tank into the parking garage, then placed the tank in their vehicle and left the property. Both Defendents were positively identified by their MD driver's licenses using the identifying information provided to GBMC and surveillance footage.

I spoke to witness Jeff Martin (GBMC nurse) who advised that Co-Defendant [name redacted], after being placed in a GBMC wheelchair, was pushed to the waiting room. Witness Martin was advised by other GBMC staff to keep an eye on both Defendants because they had been repeatedly told that they were not permitted to remove an oxygen tank from GBMC property. He stated that he noticed both Defendants begin to leave the waiting room......so he began to follow. He advised that he followed them out of the waiting room, out of the building into the parking lot, and then into the parking garage. He stated that he observed them remove the oxygen tank from the wheelchair and place it in a gray Kia [vehicle model redacted].

Side notes- Jeff Martin, instead of taking care of patients in the ER, follows me and my mom to the car and is videotaping us on a cell phone (without our permission). He is even standing by the prking grge exit, filming us as we leave. I am currently working with GBMC to resolve this issue, however, they do not appear to be working on this matter much. And how safe is your personal information at GBMC? If I find they released any health information to the police, I will call an attorney immediately for violation of HIPPA. I am going to get copies of the police report and attachments and GBMC better not have released any medical information to police, like they released my driver's license and other personal identifying information.

P.S. the oxygen tank was returned to GBMC on June 27, 2019 to security guard named Austin.

The doctor and the staff at this facility were rude, and had no compassion for my family member! They could care less about patients. The quality of service was unacceptable! I hope to never have to go there ever again.

In the ER waiting for hours upon hours to be seen ...

In the ER waiting for hours upon hours to be seen for ruptured appendicitis and I'm given a 600 Motrin and medicine for nausea when that wasn't one of my symptoms. I was told since I was coming from patient first and they were given heads up that I would get a CT-Scan but NO, I'm put in a wheelchair, blood taken and pushed in a corner. The left side is on pained, I'm irritated and dehydrated. No one checking on me and when I finally say I'm leaving knowing I can't even walk, I am told there 7 people more important than you and although your white blood count is elevated, its your choice to stay or not...mind you hour ago there were only 5 ahead of as a 10 min wait for a warm blanket turned into 35 min wait.....This is the LAST time I put myself through the ridiculous for her....I had them push me to my car and I drove myself in pain level at a 10, to St. Joseph and immediately I was put into a room and given proper treatment. I will never revisit GBMC as long as I can help it.

Hospital stay was great . The nurses and doctors in labor and delivery were as well . Especially the nurse by the name of Taylor . I Will never forget her , she made me very comfortable. However I do not recommend anyone to use labor and delivery s valet parking . If you decide to , please make sure you take all your valuable belongings into labor and delivery with you. Someone in valet parking seems to have sticky fingers !! Not worth the headache and making a complaint ,thatb might not get resolved .

No one wants to be in the ER or hospital, but GBMC made it easier. From the wonderful nurses in the ER who made me laugh eased my nerves, to the caretakers that watched over me after I was admitted, I felt like everyone I interacted with was genuine. I actually missed some of the staff after I left! Not quite enough to go back but.... :) Everything was faster than expected as well! They definitely made me feel like I was priority #1 even though I knew they were busy, busy, busy!

I guess the only reason I'd deduct a star is because, like I assume most hospitals, the food sucked and the beds weren't super comfortable.... though neither of those were to be expected.

This place has definitely gone down over the years, before you could be in and out within a couple hours. Today I sat for almost 4 hours with an iv and ekg stickers stuck all over me. I told them I was feeling faint and my blood pressure was rising but they didn t take any of this into consideration. I asked for the iv to be removed and I left. Customer service isn t great anymore either

Stayed here in Kaiser/Acce for 15 days when I was ill. The nursing staff is hit and miss. The older nurses are great, but the younger ones are easily overwhelmed and it shows. I often found myself calling for help 1hr prior to needing it because I knew how long it would take. Food was good, but I prefer not to interact with the younger nurses they take the job to personal, it's a hospital people are usual here because they are sick and at their worse.

I had an emergency procedure done here a few years ago. The first nurses when I came in and the doctor that performed the procedure were very pleasant but when it came time for the actual procedure, there was one nurse I remember that was very rude. I mean, it was my first time being admitted to a hospital for anything and my first time getting surgery so of course I was scared out of my mind. It was almost this as if this lady expected me to know already what she want me to do. I wish I remembered her name cause I would have reported her nasty attitude.

Do Not Attend This ER . I came to the ER for heart complications and sat in the waiting room for a little under 9 hours. I continuously advised the nurse things weren't improving and I was waved away stating the longest person waiting for care was 9 hours in. The technician who checked everyone's temperature did not use a forehead thermometer, when asked why(due to the possible spread of covid 19) I was advised the forehead thermometer is often stolen. The tech was not thorough in sanitizing the thermometer between each person. When having my blood pressure monitored the tech advised I did not need to remove my thick jacket, in which I added it might give a false reading. After finally being admitted to a room enough bloodwork was taken to fuel the American Red Cross for a month with no conclusion at the end in which I was sent home. If there's an actual emergency please avoid this ER. I believe when employees perform a service and see the same result daily they become desensitized and don't treat each case as a new case, it's treated as an annoyance. Unfortunately I never received a follow-up call regarding my experience which is why I decided to leave a review; a warning of sorts.

I used to think this was a good Hospital until I was seen Wednesday and discharged with gallstones. When they discharged me I was light headed and vomiting and was told the surgeon would not operate on me. I can't eat and if I do I can't keep food down. I would give it a zero for my emergency room visit.

As someone who works in healthcare (and for a few ...

As someone who works in healthcare (and for a few of the organizations within the Baltimore community), I have to say I am very impressed with GBMC.

My son recently was taken to the E.D. at GBMC as a result of a lip laceration. The hospital was very clean; and the staff was very nice, professional and thorough. Although; I am sure someone within the emergency department could have stitched my sons lip, they went the extra step and called in Dr. Samuel Hahn with the ENT associates to do so on a Sunday evening to make sure it was done as best as it could be.
Dr. Hahn was very calm, and really explained everything to my son, which really helped him to stay calm (as he is only 9). You can tell that he takes a lot of pride in his work; it is barely noticeable that he had 13 stitches.
I really appreciated the PA Kyle A Sloan checking back in on us to re-teach/ reinforce the wound care, medication regimen, and to make sure that we didn't have any further questions or concerns.

Everything from the facility, the care given, the education, and scheduling for follow up was painless... which is how the process should be. It is very reassuring to know that there is a really good hospital so close to home.

Should I ever need to recommend a hospital, I will confidently recommend GBMC.

Thank you for your great care.

I waited for my ENT in the NORTH Pavilion for 2 hours. No one checked on me in my room until I finally had to walk out otherwise I would have risked losing my other doctors appointment I had later for that day this is the second time I've had to wait but I've never had to wait so long and a doctor's office with no one ahead of me and no one to check on me. And most importantly it was only because they are fused to talk to me on the phone regarding CT scan results so I drove all the way up there. For an hour and 42 minutes just to talk and never even got that far nor did I receive an apology phone call or a follow-up as to why I left

The hospital is large but easy to navigate. The staff is awesome and the wait for care is not long if you have an appointment. I had three procedures there and the nurse's were beyond patient and kind....I am an awful patient coming out of anesthesia. GBMC also give seminars on various health topics. These spring and fall classes are available to the public. I highly recommend this hospital for your family health care.

Worst experience i could imagine! :(

Worst experience i could imagine! :(
I went there at 2 am after having contractions at home. When I arrived to the hospital my contractions were 3/4 minuets apart. After the nurse tried to put the IV into my hand and couldn t push it all the way in my vein so she proceeded to stick the IV into my wrist. extremely uncomfortable by the way. I asked for some pain medicine in my IV and was told no. I was told I had to have an hour of fluids before I could get my epidural. By that hour my contractions were 2/3 minuets apart. When the Epidural was given to me it did help for maybe 20 minuets and started to wear off!!! I ve had a baby before I m not naive I understand the pain that comes with child birth. However if I knew I would be giving a natural birth I wouldn t have risked getting the Epidural in the first place. The anesthesiologist s only solution to my problem was taking the needle out and re-doing my epidural. One time risking sticking a needle in my spine is enough for me! I declined and was going to just continue pushing since my contractions were 1/2 minuets apart. After the ob on call came in, she was no help, didn t help walk me through pushing or anything. The nurses were way more informed and helpful during my whole experience. One of the my nurses was Julia, she was awesome! Very patient! After 3 hours of pushing some lady walked in my room with the ob I ve been dealing with. She proceeded to tell me that my baby s head was tilted up so I wouldn t be able to push him out, and my only option was to have a c-section. I was extremely against a c-section unless my baby or I were in danger, which we weren t everything was normal with both of us. I asked the lady (I still don t know who she was) if I could continue to push, she replied with for how long? What kind of a dumb question was that! As long as it takes to deliver my baby! She told me I could do whatever I wanted to do but it wouldn t work I would just end up having the c-section later rather than just doing it now. I was petrified and was in so much pain already, my worst fear of a c-section!!!!! I even begged them if there was anything else I could try or do. Everyone I talked to about this hospital said they had to have a c-section. People just like me that had vaginal births before came to GMBC and were told their only option was a c-section! Even funnier thing is that some of the women I talked to had the doctors tell them the same thing about the baby s head being tilted upward. Only reason I ended up using GMBC when I really didn t want to was because my crappy Kaiser insurance! I had my first child at Howard County General and it was the best experience I could ask for. Now I would not want to have anymore children after the experience at GMBC! If you have an option, go ANYWHERE ELSE! Unless you don t care how you deliver your baby, but for me it ruined my excitement and joy of giving birth. Now I m stuck with my only option if I decide to have another child is by c-section. I can say thank god my baby is healthy! And that most of the staff was really nice. Make sure some one can bring you some food :) because their food is pretty gross, cold (I had to microwave the food to try to eat it) and was almost always wrong. I tried to order twice and gave up on them.

The only reason I gave it a 4 star review was because the person who started my IV, took about 4 tries before she could get it right, which resulted in a lot of bruising and 2 small scars. Other than that, my experience was wonderful considering the circumstances of my visit. The doctors, anesthesiologist and nurses were so compassionate and knowledgeable. Even the genetic testing center continues to be very attentive and understanding months after my surgery.

I'm dealing with GBMC and Kaiser at the same time and I have never run into so many uneducated uninformed doctors, nurses and staff in my life. Passing the buck seems to be a big deal around here. When shift changes nobody knows what's going on. Second time around and I still do not know completely what I'm dealing with and how it is supposed to be treated. Dealing with pancreatitis non alcoholic related and diabetes but don't know what kind of either one that I'm dealing with. Whatever you do in an emergency do not ever come to GBMC.

I had my first child here. I am pregnant with my second and made sure to find a doctor with a different hospital. I was lucky to be blessed with a healthy baby and no complications during delivery. However, my experience with GMBC was less than impressive. A nurse came in every few hours during my stay after delivery to remind me to take my pain medication and to use the various antiseptic sprays, etc. and to ask when is the last time I took the medicine and used the spray. Every time, I would inform the nurse I have not yet been given any medication or spray, the nurse would say she would check into it, yet I left the hospital 2 days later still never having been given any pain medication or antiseptic. I could not even sit up in bed enough to lift my son in and out of the cradle because it was too hard to move. I also had problems breast feeding. My son would not latch on properly. A lactation consultant came in for literally about a minute and a half, shoved him onto my breast and walked out. He unlatched in less than a minute and she never came back even though I asked many times for assistance.
