The kids had a blast! There are so many fish and creatures to see! We easily spent about 3 hours there.

The new sturgeon touch tank is really cool! The aquarium is easy to get to, and visible from Hwy 35. Fantastic views of the lake and the bridges. The otters are super cute!
It is a pleasant location with lots of new information for children and adults alike. It is an ideal place for children to play and learn about the fish species of Lake Superior. There are many workshops where children can play and spend their time and all kinds of fun activities.
This aquarium features a lot of freshwater fish and critters as well as some saltwater that you are able to see up close with th design of the tanks. Encourages hands on learning with 3 different "touch" stations, one featuring sharks, another featuring sturgeon, and the other featuring starfish and jellyfish (this one is so cool!). All staff are very friendly and educated to help you have fun while learning! Perfect place to take the family! Parking is $5.
My kids LOVE visiting the Aquarium. They've done a great job modifying the traffic flow and displays to allow distancing.
Very interesting. Note, there are no eating facilities there.
It was a little pricey, but everything in Duluth is pricey. We, including our boys (3 & 6), enjoyed it. I think the experience you get is what you put into it.
They've done some remodeling since I was last here, and it looks really good. They also have presentations throughout the day, and different stations where you can look at animals more closely and ask questions. The staff are also very knowledgeable.
Only spent a couple hours here so I didnt see it all. But I really enjoyed what we did and saw.
Have a great time a little expensive but what do you expect for being in Duluth. kids really enjoyed it here seen many things they wouldn't otherwise living in the Frozen North. would recommend this to anyone going to Duluth looking for something fun to do inside with the temperature controlled atmosphere. Gift shop and snacks available for purchase.
Totally overpriced. Had to pay 5 bucks to park...in their completely empty lot. The staff couldn't have been less enthusiast...one actually scolded my son for being too loud. There were numerous dead fish in several exhibits..not cool. The facility quite dirty there was liter on the floors and around the entry way. Everything in the gift shop was made in china. I would have thought there would have been local items instead of crap from china. Overall a waste of money and time.
This place was epic. So many animals and other cool things to look at and enjoy!
Great place to go with the family. A great deal of animals and live touch tanks. We come here every year!
Wonderful, very clean, healthy fish, very impressed first time there. Thank you
Very educational and clean. Emphasis on local Great lakes. Wasn't too long or too short, well worth the price.
The Great Lakes Aquarium is a must see in Duluth, MN. Its modern space offers a fun and interactive learning experience for all. I love the touch pools and wide variety of fish and animals, and so will your kids! The staff are down-to-earth and very knowledgeable in what they do. While tickets are a little on the expensive side, there are ways to get discounts. Either way it is worth every penny! Head to the aquarium when you get a chance!
Beautiful building and exibits, gorgeous views, and friendly staff. Prices are affordable, even in the gift shop. Lots of cute items in the gift shop as well. :)
Helpful staff and great exhibits. Took the grandkids and they loved it.
This is a great place to get out of the cold and enjoy a day of family fun.
We visited the Great Lakes Aquarium on a Tuesday morning and we had a very fun time learning about the Great Lakes fish and the sealife. Lots of hands on areas. I really enjoyed stepping outside to see Lake Superior. It was a great way to spend a rainy day in Duluth.
This is one of my absolute favorite places to visit in the Duluth/Superior area. It has many exhibits with well informed staff and good upkeep. Just this year they added the surprisingly enjoyable Sturgeon Touch Tank. If you will be going as a family and plan to visit more than once, I would recommend saving some money and going with a year long pass. Be sure to check out the otter feeding.
Love this place very informational and lots of exhibits
Wonderful place I've been there many times with my family I do recommend this place I've only met one extremely rude person there older lady with gray hair and glasses but the rest of the people there very polite and courteous
Experienced, knowledgeable, personable staff. Great exhibits. Worth buying a year- long pass.
So much information. Great way to spend a few hours with the kids
Beautiful and interesting. Lots of gorgeous fishes that I never saw before.
Big place. Not what i thought for aquarium though. It's like science museum meets zoo meets aquarium. It had several interactive things for the kids! A tree house, fishing boats, otter slide, locks and dams (be warned they will get wet! Water resistant aprons available). Kids were 3, 4, 11 & 18. Gift shop isn't insanely over priced either!!
They need to relocate that poor Turkey Vulture. Shame on them.
Pretty expensive for what is there. Cost $32 for my son and I!!!
Hosted an event, and everyone loved the space! Friendly staff and great exhibits
Great place to kill a couple hours with little ones in Duluth. We watched the divers feed the fish and sharks and my girls got a kick out of giving a high five and playing rock paper scissors through the glass with the divers. The otters were fun to watch when they were out. Reasonable entry fee and close to the hotels in Canal Park.
Informative and the hands on exhibits were enjoyable
Great place to see all different kinds of fish as well as learn about invasive species.
Fun place to go, especially with children or grandchildren. Very educational. Lots of hands on activities which make the learning of various ecosystems enjoyable. Strongly recommend.
Our family enjoyed the exhibits and sites and presentations that were offered by the aquarium.
Great learning experience for all ages, they have touch pools which are interesting. Lots of things to see and do a great place to take kids to learn more about aquatic animals.
Great place, friendly people, and the kids love it!
Fun, educational, and good covid prevention measures in place. A safe, entertaining place to spend time in duluth.
Amazing place, great staff and wonderful to the kids who were on their field trip
It was a nice activity for all ages. Close to ships too. Three yr old
The staff was kind and informative. Justnot much of interest to offer...
We had a great time walking around the aquarium on our vistit to Duluth. I really like the emphasis on the great lakes speices. The exhibits tend to a younger audience but as an adult there is plenty to learn still. Interactive exhibits provide a great experience to engage with different animales. Prices were very afordable and the location is in a great part of town.
Love the Great Lakes Aquarium! At first tickets feel a little pricey. But after walking the entire aquarium you realize just how much you get! Their floor to ceiling fresh water tanks are probably the most impressive thing in the place with a diving show that happens to feed the fish and everything. New hands on touching exhibits have been added so now kids (and adults) can get a chance to feel things like jellyfish and turtles. I've been three times now to the aquarium and my hands down favorite part is the crow (it's where I learned the most about something I didn't know) overall worth the short walk/drive from wherever you're staying in the area.
Great place to bring the girlfriend or wife amd even better if you have kids.
There's a wide variety of fish from salt water to fresh water with special attention to the native fresh water species like sturgeon, trout, bass and turtles. There's multiple touch tank areas for sturgeon, horse shoe crabs and even jellyfish. There's lots of interactive exhibits for kids and adults and there's usually scheduled activities going on every half-hour like fish feedings or presentations. Overall a great experience!
Very pricey for what they have plus most of the touch pools were closed.
One word: amazing. If your thinking about going just go, It's worth it.
A great place for everyone of all ages! Wonderful, interactive things for both kids and adults alike. Plenty of educational opportunities here as well, not to mention all the lovely folks there are super friendly and would love to share their knowledge with you!
It s in dire need of upkeep. Leaking tanks seeping through the concrete, chipping paint, etc. The city planners are always so eager to spend money to start things like this but fail to make them profitable.
Awesome visit! Some of the exhibits were under construction so we missed them, but the staff was super helpful and knowledgeable. I'd recommend watching a feeding during your visit, but don't plan around it. Worth the visit.
Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Great place to bring the family, learn all about the creatures that live in your local lakes and rivers. Teach kids about the aquatic life and how to preserve it for future generations.
I chaperoned a school event at the aquarium. There is no need to schedule hours for a visit here. You can basically see everything in an hour. I expected much more for the price of admission.
Good amount of aquatic species to see. Helpful staff. Does not take long to walk through.
This place is awesome. It has all the fish from the Great Lakes and some tropical Amazon fish as well as some ocean fish as well.
I really enjoyed the huge Sturgeon area we got to touch some Great Lakes Sturgeon and Also some Siberian Sturgeon from Lake Baikal. We also got to watch Scuba guys feed the fish!! The kids loved it and I learned a lot about some local fish.
Great place to see fish with the family and learn a bunch.
Kids had lots of fun. Many different activities to learn about different fish and even saw dime cute otters too!
Great aquarium! I've been here 10years before and was glad I came a second time.
I love aquariums and this is one of the best I've been, getting to pet some of the fish is cool
Awesome place to to visit! The touch pools were a favorite. They have horseshoe crabs, sturgeon, jellyfish and more to touch. Great educational opportunity. Not everything in this aquarium is from the Great Lakes which was a nice surprise. The only downfall is the price. A bit steep but worth the money every few years.
My husband and I started taking our daughter to the aquarium when she was 6 months old. She looked, pointed, and giggled at the animals and all of the fish. We bought a family pass for her first birthday and she is continuely happy and asking to go. We go too visit the fish and animals about twice a month. We really enjoy having a desination when the weather is too crumby to be outside. It gets us all out of the house and doing something fun together as a family. I highly recommend this for families.
Loved it super educational! Super pandemic friendly!
Good for the little one they have lots of new touch pools and other exhibits
Very fun place to visit, they have a huge two story tank filled with fish from lake superior. They do charge for parking but it goes to a good cause. I'm an adult with no kids and I still had a fun time. They do have a lot of events and options for kids to learn about the marine environment.
Looking at it's size, I did expect a bit more to see, but all around decent aquarium experience. It was around $38 for 2 adult admission (I think my 2 yo was free), it was a bit more expensive than I would have liked simply because you can easily be in/out in 30 minutes. Maybe I'm being over critical, but compared to other aquariums we've been to, this doesn't make my top picks. I still give 4 stars because it is a nice place and was nicely kept up, just more expensive than I thought it was worth.
Fascinating. Great, engaging staff. An awesome way to learn about Lake Superior and Minnesota's fishes. The sturgeon touch tank is cool. Who knew fish liked petting? Well, they do!
My family loved visiting! The main reason we planned our trip to Duluth. We loved the hands on sections. The educational presentations we were able to see. The variety is amazing. I think my family's favorite was the otters, the tiny seahorses, and touch pools. We will be visiting again for sure.
Thought it was going to be more to see yet OK for the price
Clean place. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Lots to see
Our girls ages 2 &5 had a great time. We spent an hour walking around and checking things out. They loved the touch stations! A great place to visit! We will be getting memberships!
My son thought this place was amazing this last winter. We came up to Duluth for a father son vacation and this was our first stop. Tomorrow we are coming back to Duluth with the rest of the family and all he can talk about is the aquarium and how he wants to show his little sister this cool place.
This was an unplanned trip but it was really fun. Excellent for small kids. You can even touch some of the fish!!
