Recently visited a Gombaude-Guillot wine dinner for my 50th birthday with an over night stay. An absolutely incredible experience, food, wine and company was exceptional. The attention to detail throughout the stay can only be described as exceptional. A memorable experience, if you get the chance I would fully recommend a visit.
Had lunch here for the first time since the new conservatory was built. It's a beautiful space looking out at the wonderful gardens. The service was excellent but we had issues with some of the food not being hot e.g. the haddock was just warm. Overall a wonderful place for lunch but on this occasion let down by the food. Will definitely return but they need to address the weakness identified.
Me and my wife had a fantastic meal there .I so enjoyed the food and the taste .And the staff are so nice and friendly . And the walk around the gardens is so great to do with all the nice things to look at.
Can I say that this is officially the best hotel I have ever seen? I've been to five stars and seven stars but the land and space and variety of things to do in this place was so amazing! Must visit for the time of your life.
Wonderful time..........the grounds flora and fauna were stunning. The food was out of this world, no words to describe. As for the staff, professional and faultless, an absolute credit to you all........ A truly beautiful and memorable afternoon.
God bless you all for your hard work, even In this heat.........
Wow! Spectacular MANOR house built 16th CENTURY. Under private ownership, in over 1000 acres of beauty. The food's something else!! Service exemplary. All waiting staff knew every ingredient. Good small wine list. Attention to detail. Best starred restaurant we've eaten in South of England.
Our stay was most delightful, and we could not have wished for a nicer time. By fortunate planning, our weekend in June was perfect weather. We were especially impressed with the attention to providing a special vegan menu in additional to the normal Vegetarian options. The gardeners were very friendly and approachable to answer any questions and much appreciated.
We were lucky enough to get tickets for the William Robinson day. We had a most magical day, and all the staff were wonderful. Staying here is rather out if our budget, but we still enjoy afternoon tea and the odd lunch. Fantastic and truly magical.
Fantastic place and incredible service. My partner and myself are both vegan and the staff attention to detail was remarkable. Vegan cookies in our bedroom, vegan tasting menu, vegan biscuits with the tea, without us having to mention it more than once - when we checked in. Would definitely recommend!
Could not fault any aspect of the hotel - service was superb, setting is brilliant of course and food was of excellent quality and very ample amounts. Staff were all fabulously trained and well drilled. The ultimate meal experience.
We booked a night here with the tasting menu. The house is beautiful and staff very welcoming and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. The tasting menu was a real experience and we enjoyed the wine pairing. There was a small issue with the food bit the staff dealt with it straight away and we were happy. We will come back!
The grounds are truly stunning, the house has an intresting mix of Georgian and modern interior design. This all compliments the food so delightfully. We were delivered a wounderful culinary experience. I would recommend a visit for afternoon tea, dinner and lunch.
Great charm, great service, great character, great gardens and great food. Older rooms have centuries old wood paneling and even a fireplace dated 1598! New garden dining room is a fabulous design bringing in light and the colours of the garden indoors. Gardens are a must see if you have green fingers even on a rainy day.
Stayed here for the weekend. I let them know I had a dairy allergy before arrival. I cannot tell you their attention to detail. I had fresh oat milk and dairy free cookies waiting for me in my room. At breakfast they knew before I even said anything. Even the leaving bag had water and dairy free biscuits. Never have I received such care and attention. The staff are warm, friendly and attentive full stop. The gardens are magnificent to while away an afternoon with some wine! We had one dinner in the restaurant too and the 7 course taster menu...amazing. Incredible food and service in stunning location. Cannot fault this place
Very grand establishment. Expect to be looked after in a wonderful building with stunning grounds. The food is top class, as is the service. Save up and treat your partner. They will be impressed.
Stunning venue, completely relaxing, unobtrusive, excellent service and beautiful food - locally sourced, fresh and delicate flavours. Not cheap but worth every penny. Our special occasion go to.
Beautiful gardens and setting. Great service from friendly customer focused staff throughout. Delicious food beautifully crafted. A wonderful afternoon. Thanks to everyone at Gravetye Manor.
This was the best dining experience we have had for a long time. Food fantastic and the service the friendly, helpful staff gave us was second to none. We love the new restaurant! It was like being in the garden and the garden looked wonderful from the warmth indoors.
We went to Gravetye for our anniversary dinner as we'd heard it had recently been awarded a Michelin star. Service, food, location and atmosphere were all perfect and we'll definitely be recommending to friends and family.
Lovely Sussex manor house hotel with truly stunning gardens. Great location deep in the Sussex weald, surrounded by woods and fields. Good restaurant, a little over-complicated for me, but it's as much for locals celebrating big events as it is for residents.
Exceptional!!! My second stay at this beautiful hotel, staff are so thoughtful, always go the extra mile, food is second to none and the gardens and bedrooms exquisite. A very romantic venue with stunning grounds.
Beautiful hotel and restaurant. Set in lovely grounds with fabulous views across the countryside. Faultless staff. Wonderful rooms furnished with antique furniture and super bathrooms. Always a special place to go to stay.
The perfect place to celebrate my 65th birthday and my 25th wedding anniversary. Beautiful gardens make the trip an event more than just a lunch. Yes it's bloody expensive and portions are small ( don't go hungry!) But hey it's a special occasions venue and you can't take it with you.
A most wonderful place for being thoroughly spoilt with immaculate service, food and wine. This place just get's better and fully deserves its Michelin star status.
An absolutely wonderful place. A superb building surrounded by beautiful gardens. This was my second visit celebrating a special birthday. We were greeted at the entrance before being shown into a pleasant and comfortable reception area. The new restaurant area is beautifully decorated. Both the menu and wine list are extensive and having chosen our food and wine with the help of waiter and sommelier we all enthused regarding how delicious the food and the perfectly matched wine was. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly and overall service excellent. After your meal if possible enjoy a relaxing walk around the gardens.
Lovely mannor. Very traditional feel. Staff are very good as you'd expect. Food, which they grow or source locally is excellent. The garden is beautiful. We did the Weir wood 5 mile walk which was very nice.
Amazing! Food was incredible and walking around the grounds were lovely. Took my boyfriend for his 30th and he said it was the best meal he's ever had. Special mention to the attentive staff who were also excellent. We are already starting to plan our next trip!
Excellent Relais et Chateaux Hotel with 1 star Michelin restaurant. The modern dining room merges almost seamlessly with the fabulous gardens. The gardens are also a treat in themselves. The rooms are very comfortable a super blend of old and new. Great friendly service.
Obsessed with a garden view, hence the new restaurant and obsessed with a gardener that doesn't seem to do weeding... are all staff on a mission to constantly mention the gardener's name at any opportunity? Why? I ask myself.
Now on to more important issues such as the food and service, or lack of. One could ask the question, do they rattle on a about the garden and gardener as a mask for substandard issues? The Ritz and The Dorchester doesn't rattle on about its history but then you get quality all the time there, from experience.
A new restaurant looking out onto a country garden is great with an unobstructed view but alas, they have not thought about night time, when they go quiet about their 'stunning garden' as there are no strategic flood lamps we were told, to illuminate it. If this is wrong, the staff lack knowledge as this is what they said. Some night lights coming... apparently.
Restaurant cramped and sofas in some places to sit on and this is uncomfortable and not to everyone's liking. 'Tough' is the perceived response caged in "99 per cent of our guests (stab in the dark figure; hardly a survey conducted), say they like it". Complain at your peril. (This is where the manager will now draw on the apparent excellent feedback that the hotel has received although I doubt they could prove a 99 per cent success rate and perhaps an over inflated staff statement was to blame for this quote).
There aren't many areas where you can sit as a family at a dinner table and all of you are on dining room chairs... 'dining room chair's' for dining, 'sofas' for watching TV... and I would have thought a 'luxurious country' hotel would have known that. Perhaps they will be installing a TV soon 'en restaurant' so people can fine dine and watch Gogglebox in an evening when they can't see the gardens.
Food very overpriced and I am bored of blobs of this and that on a plate caged in a term 'fine food' aka, maximise profits. A hundred quid for a glass of wine and three courses of VERY small plates could be considered as a rip off. Some waiting staff are not five star either in terms of delivery; although one or two are gems there and get the service agenda. Others should go on secondment to a roadside cafe maybe? Is Julie's Pantry still on the M1?
You will get more food at a lower price point at an independent place in Brighton.
The hotel appears to have dumped their loyal guests it would seem by thinking and being delusional, that the new restaurant is the be all and end all of everything and if loyal guests liked the traditional restaurant, well tough. That is for private dining we were told, or based on the quantity of food, private snacking, in my opinion.
Me? Next time I will spend a hundred quid on a week's food shop @ocado and enjoy it.
This is not the only naff hotel in my opinion in Sussex so don't be fooled by them.
The welcome was warm and friendly, and staff were excellent throughout our stay. They didn't even need to ask what room we were in when ordering drinks etc; they just knew us and took care of us.
The room (ash) was huge and beautiful, with a 16th century oak carving of the couple who built the house in panels above the fireplace.
Dinner both nights was exceptional. The chef can do amazing things with fish, and the home grown vegetables are wonderful.
Love this place. Perfect place for romantic date. Started with prosecco and snacks in garden. Lucky to have good weather. Then moved in for taster menu with wine. The food is amazing. I love that you someone that talks about each meal and partners it with a perfect wine. The setting is surreal which makes the whole experience. After dinner we made our way to the drawing room for coffee. Must do experience. It is expensive for average person but good treat for special evening.
Stunning country manor house. Stayed in Holly room, with its four-poster bed, picture window seat and en-suite with underfloor heating and a huge ornate fireplace. Dinner in the michelin starred restaurant was superb! Breakfast was also great, with a decent choice of options. Felt well looked after by the attentive staff throughout our stay. 5/5 for a weekend away!
The views from the grounds are gorgeous. The country garden is beautiful and we had great weather to have our aperitif there. Interior rooms and the bar are traditional, panelled rooms that are also lovely. The new(ish) dining room is a gorgeous bright and airy room incorporating the gardens by glass wall and a piece of glass ceiling incorporates some of the beautiful manor house roof views into the dining room. The service was superb overall (aside from the waiter that decided the one man at the table should taste and choose wine although the host was female). The food was superbly executed, from amuse bouche through to desert and the presentation was artistic.
My partner took me here, and I was not disappointed, first Class service, and first class food, the grounds were great for walks long or short, it was a most memorable weekend, I would like to recommend this hotel to anyone, ps the other half loved it as much...... and we are going back vsoon
I went for afternoon tea. Beautiful location, Beautiful building, fantastic food and service. Definitely recommend. Look forward to my next visit. Lovely gardens to wonder around and places to sit and amire the views.
Just spent Christmas day at Gravetye Manor with my parents. Not only did it look beautiful all decorated and fires to warm us. The food was excellent. The staff and service was outstanding. Thank you for making our Christmas special. See you Boxing day for lunch.
