Hotel nice and cared for, in the green, excellent location.
Quaint, nice food, lovely place for a weekend getaway
Came for my husband's birthday on arrival they told us we had been upgraded to a catherderal view amazing freindly staff lovely Salisbury people definitely go again and will recommend to family and friends
Nice hotel in the old style. Rooms and beds neat. Slept well. Breakfast typical English. Breakfast room a bit small, but OK .. If you are looking for a new accommodation, should go down in one of the chains. We like it very much. Downtown comfortably in 10 min. within walking distance. Ample parking
Lovely old building with lots of character and incredible views. Car parking is a bit chaotic though especially when you are attending an event
My daughter held her wedding reception here and all I can say is they are a disgrace! The food was like prison slop, and the service was non existent! When I complained to the manager she reacted in a completely unprofessional manner and was not even prepared to apologise. No care was taken with my daughters wedding decorations with many being broken after they just threw them into boxes. The room I was staying in was run down to say the least with peeling wallpaper, broken lamp, and a general air of grubbiness. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone under any circumstances!
It was ok. Only for an over night stay. Quite dated in all areas. Used the conservatory for evening meal. Bit pricey but again ok.
The front and back side if the hotel is very pretty. Flowers and garden made it so beautiful. Avon River is amazing. The rooms are huge and clean. The twin beds are to small. Not suitable for big builts. No refrigerator. Only one restaurant not open all day. Breakfast is serve between 7 am till 9am. Lunch is served till 2 pm. Dinner is serve from 7 till 10 pm. No supermarkets around the hotel. All are houses hospital and church. Walking around to the city to find supermarkets. It takes 10 mins to walk. To take a bus it will be Red 5. Nothing to do at night just to sit in the room and watch television. It is like living in the far away from civilization. Boredom at night. Hmm I will not stay in this area. Again.
Awful. Torn sheets, duvet didn't fit duvet cover, cracked plaster, fire doors wedged open, damaged lamp, lax staff and unapologetic management. The view and four poster bed were nice but with all the damage in the room I felt ripped off More
Spacious, clean room over looking green, river and Salisbury cathedral. Nice dinner menu and breakfast included. WiFi didn't work for me at all
Just been for afternoon tea for my mum's birthday and it was really lovely . So it cattered for 86 yr old down to 4 . Not much left on the table and the tea just kept coming
Would highly recommend.
It was a wonderful place to feel good. A wonderful hotel with an excellent restaurant and excellent cuisine. All this surpassed by a warm and incredibly friendly and professional staff.
We'll be back!
It was a wonderful place to relax. A wonderful hotel with excellent restaurant and excellent cuisine. All this was exceeded by a warm and incredibly friendly and professional staff.
We will be back!
Fantastic views across the meadows to Salisbury Cathedral
Great food. Service lacking experience and candor. Rooms are dated. Nice gardens and right close to centre
Beautiful hotel in Salisbury private parking Wi-Fi bar overlooking the cathedral. The rooms are spacious tv ironing board (I had room 15) shower wc in the room kettle tea and coffee and cupcake. The direct neighbors are the river and the field where the sheep come to fish and the other side the parking lot. Very quiet place I spent 2 nights. Very decent restaurant. I start it again
Beautiful, huge room. Not just accepting of our dog, but exceptionally accommodating, with access to a massive garden from the room. Amazing scenery, short drive to town and sights, friendly staff. Very clean throughout. Food decent, puddings were lovely. Only (very, very minor) negative would be the weak WiFi signal in the room, but we really only wanted it to map our excursions out, so it wasn't a huge loss, given the staff's willingness to answer our questions and offer suggestions. Highly recommend, and definitely plan to return.
Very accommodating staff, good breakfast and spacious rooms in a character property with Lovely garden. Dogs most welcome!
Wonderful area to go to Stonehenge in a quiet location but only 10 minutes (on foot) from the old town
Very nice hotel with close proximity to the town centre with an easy 10 minute walk to the shops. Room was decently sized with the beds being very comfortable. The whole building tended to be incredibly hot and meant we had to leave the windows open overnight. Bathroom was modern and had a bath and shower which worked very well. The main thing that let the hotel down was the breakfast (which was included in the price which is nice) it was a decent breakfast but was a bit cold and the staff could've maybe not stared at us the entire meal. Overall a decent hotel with nice rooms and views but breakfast was average.
Spent 2 nights here, one in a twin room and one in a four-poster double room. Beds were comfortable but pillows are huge, if you used 2, you d get neck-ache.
Room facilities:
Tea/coffee set included dated kettles full of lime scale and on both occasions, electrical safety check (PAT) were over 2 years out of date. Plugs for changing phones were difficult to access. Ironing board was a useless fold-out from the wall board which I had difficulty using due to its size. The tv was good and easy to use.
Cleanliness: overall good. Found quite a bit of rust on the shower curtain rail and what could have been mould surrounding the bath tub - it was large black marks anyway.
Staff: Very good, attentive, friendly and always seemed happy to help.
Overall impression: lovely grounds, interior slightly dated (carpets!) - could use a good refurbishment, good staff, restaurant food was 3.5/5.
PERFECT!!! Travelled from Australia and stayed here in March 2018. Came back to visit UK in January 2019 and could not go passed another few nights in Grassmere House. Staff are SUPER friendly, rooms are spotlessly clean, beds are so difficult to get out of due to being extremely comfortable and the location is absolutely perfect! Grassmere House is an absolute must for anyone wanting a little luxury during their UK experience!
Poor food and poor service attitude. The butter is tasteless and not edible at all.
Excellent friendly staff. Lovely charming hotel rooms. Great and very affordable food. My new place to stay in Salisbury.
Fantastic service in a beautiful location. A few tiny maintenance problems but nothing that really impacted on our stay. Would definitely visit again.
One of the finest hotels we have ever stayed in. The view from our room was stunning, across the river to the spires of Salisbury Cathedral. Four poster bead and the finest self-service breakfast.
Can't wait to go back again.
A jewel. All fantastic, I have not found a fault. If you're passing in Salisbury you do have to book here. A 15-minute walk from the cathedral, with garden and veranda looking directly the Avon. A dream.
Quaint old hotel that has been renovated to maintain the right look and feel. River location overlooking the Cathedral with the Avon between is stunning. Breakfast was very good and staff friendly.
Good hotel with good service and great price. Whoever complaining about lacation and nothing around is their fault becouse they choosed it and did not do research before. Hungarian man at the desk very helpfull. Thank you.
Excellent service lovely hotel. Highly recommended.
Nice hotel, room was nice, but the tv didn't work. Lots of space to relax, open fire in lounge, and a small bar. Fantastic views over the river, and the cathederal. Great breakfast in the morning 7.30-9. Convenient location. Quite pricey for area.
Amazing room with four poster bed, great views and the works. Superb value for money with an outstanding service from a warm and welcoming team. Following my 16 hour day business trip, felt like a million dollars, refreshed by a great night s sleep, followed by a delicious breakfast...
Perfect little place to stay, comfortable rooms, everything you need. Staff outstanding, apart from maintenance man.... lovely get away, got more than we expected to be honest and breakfast was delightful. Would definitely recommend.
good spot clean and good size rooms short walk to town center.
Good hotel lovely grounds food ok beer selection very limited
Fairly narrow in rooms, bathrooms and corridors. But clean and with good care.
Beautiful view of the cathedral from the dining room.
This hotel is quite dated but staff are helpful and friendly. The room had great views of the river and Cathedral. We had dinner which was tasty, the breakfast was also very good
Place to rest and enjoy an exquisite cuisine, typical house of the English countryside simple, cozy but at the same time elegant, super friendly and polite treatment. My wife and I were delighted, highly recommended
Great welcome, clean, tidy good sized room and brilliant breakfast. Definitely stay there again.
Great little hotel really friendly team enjoyed my stay
Beautiful structure .. Typical English! Excellent cuisine. Highly recommended
Lovely setting. Lovely rooms. Four poster with great views. Relaxed. Nice staff. Not too far from centre.
We only ate here, good food and the place looks good
We had a very comfortable one night stay at The Grasmere Hotel. We had a lovely spacious ground floor room, with a comfortable bed, over looking the river. There was plenty of choice for breakfast. Hotel is very situated for exploring Salisbury.
I enjoyed my stay here. A fair and comfortable room with a view out towards the cathedral with a large garden area. Friendly and efficient staff and a good breakfast. What's not to like?
We had afternoon tea for my sister-in-laws 50th birthday and there was plenty of food , tea and coffee highly recommend it
great value, beautiful views. in need of some refurbishment, especially in the public areas.
Stayed here for my husbands birthday and our room was a lovely four poster with cathedral view. We had a three course meal in the restaurant which was of a very high standard, couldn't fault our stay would definitely book again in the future.
Delightful with a view of the cathedral. In addition to the beautiful lawn with an Avon loop
Nice staff, very quiet despite a road outside. Can imagine staying there again.
Staff were friendly and it was very clean but in need of modernising e.g. dated room decor, old cushions, broken tiles in bathroom etc.
Beautiful hotel located in one of the best tourist and naturalistic areas of the city
Great place to stay great food and staff look after you very well
Liked the stay a lot.
Sorroundings are impeccable. Hotel building is a 19th century former private house so if you like dated properties this one is for you.
Hotel is in a quite sorrounding, though next to an A Road, but still not too noisy. Ample parking.
Best part is that hotel lawns overlook the River (very salubrious sorrounding) and you can see the medieval Salisbury cathedral in some distance. Walk to the cathedral from the hotel via lanes and by-lanes is around 20 mins. and from thereon you may walk to the city centre. Or just drive down the road in front of the hotel.
Nice hotel, friendly staff and excellent breakfast. The room looks great. Located close to the center.
Super comfortable bed, and a lovely view onto the gardens with the cathedral in the background
Outdated in need of decoration but charming staff and lovely food
Spacious room, great views and friendly service. Also great value for money for a short break. Very close to all of Salisbury's historic attractions.
It has beautiful views of the cathedral the staff are professional
Quiet rooms, beautiful surroundings
A little dirty and the dining room was rather makeshift and unkempt.
Not particularly friendly but hard-working staff.
I attended the Grassmere for a monthly social gathering. The staff are courteous and efficient. The highlight however is the food, which visit after visit is both generous in portion and excellent in taste and presentation.
Highly recommended, and one other thing, the view from the rear lawn is of water meadows, a beautiful river and a view of Salisbury cathedral that Constable would be proud of.
Went to lunch with friends, service was not good ,food okish when we got it .1 of my friends could not eat hers at all .
They did however not charge her & gave her a coffee.
We had a lovely stay here after Christmas. The hotel staff are very friendly, and upgraded us to a deluxe room for no extra charge, which we felt very lucky about. It has everything you need, being only 10 minutes' walk from town, yet felt very tranquil and secluded. Breakfast is substantial, and we were grateful to be served dinner at the hotel on Boxing day when most places in town were shut. Great to have free wifi and carparking too. This hotel offers great value for money and is a convenient place to base yourselves while sightseeing in Wiltshire. I would happily stay here again.
The overall feel of this hotel is that it was probably very grand in the 80's but is now slightly frayed around the edges. The decor is quite dated and although the shower room had recently been refitted and was modern and bright, most of the hotel was a bit dark and slightly worn. This was not reflected in the price though, which seemed quite high.
Having said that, our stay was pleasant. All the staff were friendly and helpful, the beds were comfortable and the room was large and quiet. Breakfast was comprehensive and high quality. The Wifi worked well and we had all the usual amenities.
The grounds to the back of the hotel are beautiful and it is within walking distance of the town centre.
Lovely place. A friend had her wedding here and they were so lovely and accomondating. A really cosy place with some genuinely lovely and friendly staff. Rooms could have been a bit more modern I guess if you're wanting that kind of thing but for me they were nicely decorated with anything you could need. Comfortable beds and what must have been really think walls because I was so silent at night. The receptionists (and in fact everyone to be honest) were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was also a pleasant experience. Just a simple buffet style full english. Plenty of parking.
Nice old hotel. A bit of a walk in to town. Easy to find. Food (breakfast) was not the best but still ok.
Very tired decor and mix of different quality of staff.
Wonderful little establishment with good food and great service. Stopped at their restaurant with a tour bus on Christmas Day and they accommodated my family with a table for four when the group's table arrangement wouldn't allow for us to sit together. Would definitely stop by again if we find ourselves in Salisbury.
Great hotel. Easy walk to town. Friendly staff. Will definitely stay here again.
Good sized rooms, stunning views. Decor a bit dated.
Very nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff.
Great hotel within walking distance of Salisbury. Breakfast was less.
Amazing place, gorgeous view! Lovely place to stay with incredible views!
Beautiful views, good service and a nice lunch. Two of us had roast beef which was delicious but I found the pork rather tough. Generally a good experience.
