Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit truly is amazing! We had high expectations going in, but they exceeded every single one of them. The dining options were spectacular and every single staff member we interacted seemed to genuinely care about our experience.
I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a more upscale alternative to the other high end all-inclusive options out there.
We had a great family vacation at the Grand Velas. The service was excellent. All of the employees were incredible helpful and friendly.
The pool, beach and all facilities were clean, beautiful and modern. At the pool, there was sunscreen and towels. We were brought cold water and any drinks and snacks we would like. The seats get filled up so we learned to stake out a good spot early. If you have kids, you will need to bring your own floaties and pool toys, although I did see someone selling them on the beach (not sure how much they cost).
Our room was nice and big but the bathroom was a bit small and our toilet kept running. The design of our shower was weird - when you opened the door to get in, you get sprayed by water. Also the bathroom felt too cramped for having a bath so we stuck with showers.
The food was excellent! We are vegetarians so we are always a bit worried about what our choices will be. The fruit and salad bar was fresh and delicious and their were plenty of options at every meal for us.
We would love to go back!
This was our second visit to the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit. We have travelled all over Mexico for the past 15 years and this is our favourite resort. The staff are excellent, food is outstanding and over all service is exceptional.
An amazing vacation made possible by a great resort and awesome staff. Everyone in my family, including vegetarians and vegans, had a wonderful time during our weeklong stay. Starting with the welcome massage, a very unique check in experience till the time the taxi was loaded on our way out, the staff everywhere (restaurants, pool side, buffet, activities, spa etc etc) took pride in providing topnotch service. There is enough stuff to do in the resort (even for our teenagers) that we never felt like leaving the resort. Looks like experiencing the town of Puerto Vallarta and whatever else it has to offer has to wait for our next trip !!!!
On the first day, when we met a lot of repeat visitors to this resort (including one big family which has been coming here for a decade), we were not sure why - but at the end of our vacation, we can understand why !!! Good job, Velas team. Keep it up - see you soon.
Stayed with my family over Spring break, elderly mother, teen son and husband. The facility is immaculate, very manacured, very clean. The rooms were spacious, with all the amenities one would expect from a 5 star resort, and overlooked the pool and ocean. Housekeeping kept the rooms very very clean, cleaner than any hotel/resort I have ever stayed at. In room mini bars were always stocked with alcohol, soft drinks and water. A beautiful tray of snacks, chips, cookies and candy bars was always kept filled and on hand in each room...all complimentary. I loved the straw beach bag so much that I purchased one from another Grand Velas resort on another trip. The on site specialty restaurants are all fabulous, with beautiful decor and tasty dishes. Service in these restaurants was impeccable. Make your reservations early on in your trip, so that you get the dining times you want (I set up all the reservations on the first day we arrived). Even though it is an all-inclusive and gratuity is included, I chose to leave additional gratuity at each restaurant, and for the housekeeping ladies. Keep dollars on hand to tip the pool boys bringing you drinks and chips..they work so hard, with a smile and it is well deserved. Overall, a very nice visit here. Will definitely return. Only suggestion is more shows/night time activities. Other than live music in the evening, not much going on for entertainment on site. BTW, the teen club is very elaborate and equipped with everything a teen would want, so your teen will be happy. Great, high speed free wi-fi everywhere on the resort. Free paddleboard and kayaks on the beach as well provided by the resort. Do these activities early in the morning, before 10 am, as the water gets more rough as the day progresses.

Great service, ambiance, and facilities -- all spectacular. Food quality isn't spectacular and this doesn't match your expectations for a place this grand, hence 4 instead of 5.
Overall we had an incredible time. We love staying at Grand Vellas. This is our second time with you so we can compare riviera MAYA and riviera Nayarit. Rooms are incredibly big, comfortable, clean, and well supplied. The beach/pool area are truly amazing as long as you remember to pay a little extra to people in charge. Tennis court is a real plus. Most staff is nice and helpful.
Three main cons:
1. Our concierge was surprisingly insufficient and unhelpful. We were mostly disappointed at checkout when she neglected to explain or help with the process. In addition, even though our children were sick with stomach bug one day, and we asked for her assistance in supplying towels/toilet paper/teabags and soap, we received a call at 22:45 that woke all of us, asking to deliver what was ordered hours before. No comparison to our experience in Riviera Maya.
2. Overall the restaurants are incredible for dinner. Service, food and atmosphere are all implacable. We did have an unfortunate dinner at Frida, when service and food were so disappointing due to what seemed like lack of staff.
3. Breakfast and lunch at Azul are delicious and e citing. Dinner is below expectations, with not enough variety and no inspiration. Definitely not worth the money and time.
Overall we really enjoyed staying at Grand Vellas and we will surely come back!
For those who think of family plans, couples or any other kind of hotel, I recommend this hotel, for sure you will have a great time.

Amazing resort with worldclass service, beautiful pool, and the beach is right outside your door.
Got the ocean front room, only to have nightly parties RIGHT outside our balcony. Loud music, screaming people...what a waste. The food and service is great...it's a shame you can't sleep. Called the front desk, yet nothing was done.
It was our first time at Grand Velas Nayarit. Although it was not an inexpensive stay, I found the experience and the quality of our stay justifying the cost. Details are highly attended to. Common areas are EXTREMELY clean including the restrooms by the pool. I felt safe and comfortable all the time. Every single aspect of the property comes with the strong intention of high quality. If we were to come back to Puerto Vallarta, I feel I would not bother looking for a new spot and rather coming back to Grand Velas.

We loved almost everything about the resort. Getting the room type we selected was a bit of a problem but the resort and our concierge went out of their way to make sure we were happy which was greatly appreciated.
The staff was super friendly and did everything possible to make our stay a great one. The service around the pool was a little slow at times but I would never complain since the resort staff was clearly working hard and always smiling so the effort was appreciated.
The kids club was great for us since it let us have dinner alone and gave us a little break during the day.
We will likely book a future family vacation at the resort since it was a great vacation even with the minor issues noted above. At the end of the day the staff was great and property was beautiful which is all we could ask for.

Chef Hotter greeted us when we were checking in (we got to know Chef Hotter quite well last year). So we knew that all of our culinary desires were going to be taken care of. We were given a room upgrade to an Ambassador Grand Class Suite upon arrival. Fantastic room! Muchas gracias. We already knew Sebastian Vasquez and 3 of the 4 restaurant captains (Fidel, Rodolfo, and Hector), and our favorite Azul waiters are still here (Cesar and Enrique), so it is somewhat like coming home to friends. We had dinner the first night at our favorite restaurant (Piaf). Chef Marco greeted us at the door and offered to prepare a tasting menu for us (which we gladly accepted). We were very happy to see that Kritzia had upgraded the inclusive wine selection. Also very happy to see that sparkling water now includes Perrier and Pellegrino. We have been working out almost daily--you have great workout equipment.
We only had one small issue with the food service--the soup and entrees were cold at Lucca our first time there. Sebastian and Javier handled the issue the next day, and it has not been a problem since. Our only desire is for a quieter dining experience in Piaf, Lucca, and Frida. Most of your guests are not owners, but are here with some group. Unfortunately, it does not seem like many of them know how to act in an expensive restaurant--people are yelling at each other across the table, etc. The first night in Piaf, a table of 12 broke out into song and gave some loud cheers! This is not the kind of behavior that I expect in a 4-diamond restaurant. Not sure what to do about it. Your Captains are (understandably) reticent to ask people to be quieter. However, I am not shy and have on two occasions gone over to a table and asked for the guests to please quiet down so my wife and I could hear each other speak.
Our concierge Isabel and maid Cecilia have been great. The people who stock our room know our preferences.
We have made a lot of friends here among your food service staff. It feels like "coming home." The best thing is that we are here 2 more weeks.
This resort is a cut above all the rest. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we felt pampered, cared-for and relaxed. Everything is so well designed, planned and prepared for your enjoyment, it s impossible to not feel real value in your choice to stay here. The spa is awesome, the food is amazing and the facilities are beautiful. The people who work here smile constantly, are warm and friendly at all times and always available to you when you need them. This is an amazing place. Just go!
Gorgeous property, great spa! Piaf restaurant was exceptional. However, service was inconsistent, suite amenities were in disrepair. Azul restaurant was particularly disappointing. Not a good value.
Grand Velas in Nuevo Vallarta is the Best Place, unreal experience!!
Nice place to stay, quiet, good food, clean, beach is nice but in that area is not good for swimming and to many local people hang out there is not that private.
We came to Grand Velas seven years ago and after our first visit, we contracted for fractional membership! My husband and I and our adult children and grandchildren want to go nowhere else. You will not believe how beautiful , clean, exciting this hotel is! The food is spectacular, there are no worries about the long ago fear of eating and drinking water across the border! Everything is filtered and bottled water served everyday.Food is fresh daily and so many choices!!
There are three gourmet restaurants to choose from, a pool side restaurant and Pool Bar as well as Azul the beach and pool side restaurant which is available for breakfast , lunch and dinner! We find the food to be exquisitely served and very fine. Some very top chefs are there to provide excellent dishes and beautiful deserts along with hand made chocolates!! ( often found in your room when you are retiring fro the day).
We cannot say enough about the people who work at Grand Velas. This is a very important factor which cannot be overlooked. They cannot do enough to please you and they do! They work very hard and it shows. If you stay long enough and get to know them, they are an extension of your family.
We will always go there for our restful and yet fun vacations. The Spa is excellent and availble for facials, massages and treatments everyday. The sun always shines, it is hot but not humid. There is always a cool breeze. There is something to do for children of every age , from Kids Club to the spectacular Teen Club for the older children.
My grandchildren ages 8,10 and 12 were up on surfboards the first day with the excellent instructions (for a fee). They then rented surf boards the entire stay. Boogie Boards are complementary, as are kayaking boats. There is beach and pool volley ball and soccer every day as well as special events during the evenings.
Most all rooms overlook the pools and ocean which offer a spectacular views. The rooms are very spacious , inviting and cleaned twice a day. There are individual concierge service for the rooms. Someone there to handle your special wishes and provide you with reservations and or information.
The sunsets are just perfect every evening which always adds to a splendid ending of a perfect day!

This was a beautiful resort. The staff were very kind, welcoming, and professional, and they all spoke English. I loved everything from the huge suite rooms, good food, and the ginormous pools. I wanted to cry the day we left because I didn't want to leave! I can't imagine anyone coming here and not enjoying their stay.
Gorgeous property with fantastic service and food. Truly a fabulous experience in all ways. Great for romance or with kids. They take care of your every need. Great pool, great beach, great food and a perfect atmosphere for a vacation.

We loved everything about this hotel! It was like being in Paradise! We will be back and tell all our friends to come here. It was relaxing and fun. Everything was impeccably clean and the staff was so so helpful. We loved sitting around the pool having cocktails with our friends and having lunch at the table by our chairs. Mario was our poolside waiter and the best waiter we have every had in our many travels. In the evenings, we went to Azul to watch the gorgeous sunsets, then to dinner to one of the fabulous restaurants. After dinner they had fun entertainment on the patio. The weather was perfect! No mosquitos or bugs! Perfect time!
We had an amazing time - this resort is gorgeous - the setting is breathtaking and the service is above and beyond all that!!

I am extremely upset on how they handled our checkout situation. We checked out from our room on 05/06 and hung out for some activities we had planned with our wedding party.
We ended up leaving our bags on our friends room which they had left May 6. However, their room paid until 05/07. While leaving the hotel, they needed us to updated our exit pass which was essentially not needed. They said since you stayed and left your bags in the room, we need to charge you as if you stayed an extra day?!?.. that is completely absurd and not acceptable. I had to end up paying their fee to not miss my flight.
Myself and our party spent an atrocious amount of money in this resort for them to charge us for a room that was paid for already. I am completely disappointed how they handled this situation including their management team. Until this situation is not resolved accordingly, my review will stand here, alongside with all other websites.
EDIT: The Hotel contacted me hours later and they apologized for how we were treated and issued us a refund.
We did have a wonderful time at this hotel and the food and service was spectacular. I am happy they took the initiative to fix the issue at hand.
Awesome resort. Delicious food. First class room service. I went there a couple years ago though. Just comparing it with my recent trip at Bahai Akumal, Tulum.
Grand Velas is the best all-inclusive resort we've been to. Its a perfect blend of casual luxury and perfect service. The restaurants are truly gourmet and top notch. The setting on its own beach is away from the crowds and peaceful. Its not cheap but you will not be disappointed.
