Wonderful. Every time. I've never seen a bad show....
Wonderful. Every time. I've never seen a bad show. Every person involved works so hard to bring each performance to life. I'm charmed every time.

The talent and commitment of the orchestra is wonderful to hear and see. Their performance with Itzhak Perlman was extraordinary!!
They swore at me and plus that the seats are full of rotten boogers
Really disappointed by the late start time yesterday -- although the concert itself was very good. To start almost 20 minutes late (at almost 10:50 rather than the advertised 10:30) with an audience full of squirmy little kids (whose parents grew frustrated trying to keep the kids happy and quiet while they sat doing nothing, and with nap and lunch schedules on their minds) was disrespectful and unacceptable. I asked an usher at 10:45 if it'd start soon, and he answered impatiently that they were busy seating late-comers. What?! Why were the 90% of audience members who arrived on time waiting on the 10% who arrived late? That's nuts -- and disrespectful. I have a suggestion: rope off the back third of a seating section near the door where you take tickets, open it at 10:25 for late-comers, and then direct late arrivals to quietly go sit in that area. And start the concert by 10:35 out of respect for the other 90% of the audience! P.S. I'm not the only person who was very frustrated by the late start. I heard two others speak up to complain (unprompted by me).
The Grand Rapids Symphony is such an amazing resource to have in the small city of Grand Rapids, Michigan. World class performers with a top notch orchestra, many interesting and innovative shows styles (going beyond the classics, they also host the Pops series which appeal to a broader and sometimes younger audience). Symphonic Boom often has video games featured, which appeals to another neglected segment of the population. As someone under 35 years of age, I enjoy being a member of My360, which is an annual tax deductible donation to join and you can get $15 tickets to most shows, as well as invites to exclusive events that can include meeting the artist, or most recently, a backstage tour of DeVos Performance Hall! I can't say enough good things about our Grand Rapids Symphony. :)
This is a review of GR Symphony's marketing tactics. When I ordered tickets for Picnic Pops last year, I apparently signed on to be harassed by their telemarketing division. Not only on my home phone and cell phone numbers have we been called, but also at my husband's workplace! How did they get his WORK number??? I fear that our contact data was MINED from our phones. Shameful tactics, if true. Take us off of your list. Don't call us, we'll call you!
Beautiful music, have enjoyed all the concerts I've seen.
Great music and great experience. Buy tickets in person to save on the ridiculous ticketmaster fees!
They will send you a flyer in the mail claiming cheap ticket prices and then when you try to order tickets for said price they will hide behind Ticketmaster's ridiculous fees and "handling" charges. Such a rip off. By the time you pay the "fees" and "handling" charges the tickets are going to be 3x to 4x what they claim.
My very first concert was with the Grand Rapids Symphony as a 5th grader, attending their 5th grade concerts. My love for music has only expanded with them. It seems like I find something new to love about a piece when I hear it live from this orchestra. Whether they are taking us through an emotional journey with a Mahler symphony or they are appeasing my inner geek with music from Star Wars and Harry Potter, I always walk away feeling good and so grateful for such a wonderful organization here in West Michigan!
Terrrble-Although I do enjoy the symphony, this particular symphony will not remove me from their postal mailing list. Therefore, I they are undesirable and repulsive.
Such professional musicians, really giving life and emotion to each piece!
