Probably great for a short stay on business. Not a great family vacation location.
Plenty of bad and good at this hotel. I'll start with the bad, but keep reading for the good.
This hotel has a bit of an identity crisis. The service was probably one of the worst parts of the stay - sub par from any of the many hyatt brands we've stayed at. They offer room service every 3 days due to COVID, which you have to request, and we did opt in to have our room serviced. However, room service did not come on the day we were told they would, and when we inquired the front desk, the associate made it look like we weren't on the schedule. Fortunately, he was able to get housekeeping to at least bring us some fresh towels, and got someone in to fix our toilet that didn't flush, which we had requested to be fixed two days prior (see below). No room service available, and the Club Access was halted due to COVID. A bit disappointing.
We had multiple interactions with one particular front desk associate and had the following issues:
1) We politely requested Upgrade on night 2 of our stay given that there were no better options available when we booked (due to the first night being valentine's day), and our toilet didn't flush - we were denied. No big deal, but we were told nothing was available, which was a lie because we checked the website before and after we asked for the upgrade and there were still bay view rooms and casitas available during the remainder of our stay. It was really not a huge deal, as our 3 year old son did enjoy watching the planes fly in and out of the airport from our city view room. We just didn't appreciate being lied to.
2)Requested maintenance to fix our toilet that didn't flush - were told by the associate they would send someone up right away. No one came for two days, so (as mentioned above) we had to inquire about it again. It was serviced, but not really fixed. It worked nicely for about 2 days and then we experienced the same issue multiple times later in the week.
3)At checkout, this associate charged us $120 for "accommodation fees". Luckily my wife noticed this as we were walking out and went back to inquire. We were told that was a "mistake", and the charges were reversed. We were told this was supposedly intended to be charged to Hyatt for points that we used to book the rooms. Not sure how this mistake was made, but given the previous issues with this associate, it just felt fishy.
This hotel is not a good vacation destination with young children. And I don't think it claims to be, but it also doesn't claim not to be. It does have two nice pools and a hot tub, but other than that, there isn't much to do on the hotel grounds with small children. And while it's close to a lot of things, it's a bit of a hassle driving around everywhere. We couldn't get a good feel for this with other reviews, so we're putting it out there. It's probably a great location for a night stay before or after a flight in/out of town, but a week stay with children is more laborious than anything. Not really the hotel's fault, but putting it out there if it helps anyone else.
The rooms were nice-ish. But I wouldn't call them "Luxury" per the Grand Hyatt Brand. At least not the room we had. It was basically just a hotel room with two smaller beds (double, not queens), no balcony, small bathroom, low ceilings. Doesn't compare to other luxury brands like Park Hyatts that my wife and I have stayed at in the past, or even the hyatt places we've stayed at that at least have flushing toilets.
With all that said - The hotel grounds are well maintained and the landscaping is very pretty. The lobby is also gorgeous and smells of fresh orchids, and it seems like it would be a great setting for corporate events, etc. The lobby is pretty darn close to 5 stars, and the landscaping is between 4-4.5 stars. Hotel staff is friendly, even if there are training opportunities to be had. 2 stars - OK.
Sorry JW Marriott, but 1 word proves this is the only true 5 star hotel in Tampa: "Casasitas."
(mic drop)
Beautiful view and great restaurant for fresh seafood and drinks
Oyster catchers was tremendous for Sunday's brunch with super friends
Nice place. Pretty standard for a Hyatt. Nice view of the water if you get a room on that side of the hotel.
GREAT VIEWS. GREAT STAFF. GREAT HOTEL.
Took advantage of the complementary shuttle from Tampa Airport. Ian was our shuttle driver and was very accommodating and professional.
Kaylie checked us in a the front desk. Welcomed us with a warm smile, very informative, and inviting!
Always beautiful, great views on Bayside. Wonderful restaurants #Armani's #/Oystercatchers and breakfast in bed is super fun, pool and outdoor bar area too. Need a little.break or a stay in Tampa this can't be beat especially if your an Award member.
Grand Hyatt Tampa is really a nice place to be People are very friendly and i really enjoyed every moment also thanks to the organisator and all the wonderful People here! God bless you all.
Great hotel and service. Like the cleaniness and awesome breakfast. Everything you expected from Grand Hyatt hotel.
IT STINNKKKKEEDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nicely kept grounds with beautiful nature walk. Great food in restaurants and quiet rooms
What a great place. Two pools, excellent service, great breakfast was included and a great value. Brad W, shuttled us from pool to pool and took Care of our luggage, valet... We had two kids and our parents and chaos and he handled it all. He absolutely went above and beyond. At the pool my six y/o said this was the best hotel we ever stayed at...and we have stayed at the Ritz in multiple countries. Bravo!!
We love it here! It's our prevacation to our beach trip every year!! Steve, the Asst GM and Noel, the bar tender treat us like repeat guests and we love it!
Near the airport, on the bay. Good localization. Comfortably.
Wonderful hotel. Beautiful architecture. The staff were very attentive and accommodating. I understand it's an upscale gotel; however, I visited this property for a national conference (NABCJ) and the prices for food/drinks were a little outlandish. I'm sure there was an price hike as a result of the conference being held there but still, very pricey in my opinion.
Beautiful property in Tampa. Restaurants have fresh delicious food. We have been coming her for 20 years. Now here to take my youngest to her first year in college. Every stay has been special.
Beautiful views, friendly staff, lush grounds, walk put to gazebo is romantic, want to go back
Saw a 12 foot great white while I was in my balcony. Effin nuts!
Very clean room with a great view! Also very convenient to get to and from the airport. I definitely recommend this stay.
It's always a nice hotel but the little special extras are missing. We never feel special even as Hyatt Members
Lovely hotel. Three restaurants, beach views, large pool and hot tub, gym. Heated towels poolside. Good room service.
The people are great and the hotel is in a great location. The rooms are not impressive and the hotel charges for EVERYTHING..Even the tv cable channels are limited.
Great location, basic rooms and no features without paying.
Very high end hotel. Extremely clean rooms and bathrooms. Shower was bigger than some hotels bathrooms. Customer service was top notch. Good size bar and restraunt but bring a full wallet.
Best hotel I ve been in. Amazing staff and service.
I went to a small meeting room and the lunch was not good.
Went for Armani's. Was an absolutely gem. Views were awesome, food was awesome and reasonably priced, and the service matched. Will definitely be returning.
We had a great experience at this hotel. The rooms were very clean amd nice. We had a beautiful view of the water. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
We stopped for.lunch and it was wonderful. The staff was conscientious, attentive, and charming. Good was amazing!
We had our company Christmas party at this exclusive resort. First class all the way!
Really awesome place to stay in Tampa as it's pretty conveniently located next to the airport and has arguably some of the best views of the Tampa Bay area.
I've been here for several work conferences and stayed here when I was younger but honestly don't remember much about that stay since I was so young. I waited a bit to review until I had actually stayed there, which I did last week.
The staff at the hotel was incredibly pleasant and made the checkin and checkout process incredibly easy.
The room I stayed in was one of the casitas which was a little off the main hotel, but was a quick and easy walk to the dock and the pool, both of which are really relaxing and have excellent views.
My room was really clean and I have no complaints about it other than the walls in this particular area are incredibly thin. I think my neighbors had a bunch of kids so when they were all playing it was a little hard not to hear them.
The attached restaurant, Oystercatchers, has one of the best brunches I've ever had, period. Great views of Tampa Bay.
Would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody staying in Tampa, especially if you need to get to the airport pretty quickly!
Great clean place. Hotel bar is clean but expensive. I would recommend it. Not noise, calm and cool place.
We attended a wedding.the shuttle was good however it was not able to use the lift for a wheelchair.
Beautiful hotel and lots of exciting things to do there.
Wonderful stay with excellent service. Restaurants are amazing.
We went for a wedding rehearsal, and dinner at the oyster bar. The food was excellent, and the staff courteous.
Awesome Staff place and location . I love coming here and being part of the Recency club.
Great hotel. The trail is great. You can see so many different kinds of birds at the gazebo. The rooms are really nice and clean. The view from the room over looking the bay at night is amazing. Can't wait to come back.
Loved our brief stay here! Super clean room and bedding. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was well designed. The harbor view out of our windows was stunningly beautiful. The outdoor pool and hot tub were a refreshing treat. Staff were well mannered and attentive. We took the boardwalk to the restaurant and experienced a very good fine dining meal. Service and food were extremely satisfying and we have no complants. Enjoyed free parking at this hotel. We would stay here again.
Went there for dinner and enjoyed the great view of the bay.
Clean rooms, good staff and convenient parking all while the hotel itself was affordable. All in all I would definitely come here again!
Restaurant was delicious with the best view in town.
The property and hotel are beautiful. We stayed in the cacitas and they were so pretty. The pool is nice, right by the bay. We rented a jet ski from a very helpful girl. Dennis at the front bar was awesome. The bell staff picks you up and takes you where you need to go. Wayne, Alex went above and beyond to help us. I'd highly suggest this hotel.
The bay view is fantastic!!!
You can see an unforgettable sunset from your room or from the terrace restaurant
The breakfast is delicious!! Smoked salmon .. and everything else from there and up
My husband and I loved our stay and we're going back soon
I come to Tampa 2 or 3 times a year for business. This was the first time to stay here, and I couldn't of had a better experience! By far the best hotel in Tampa so far. It is clean and the staff is extremely customer centric!! I will stay here from now on.
Beautiful hotel. Three restaurants, pool, garden and views of Tampa Bay.
Very nice accommodations. Close to airport. Not a bad price for a 4-star hotel. Merry Xmas!
Get a room in the Casitas and you will be really close to oystercatchers and the private beach.
Beautiful venue for your upscale social events. The faculty is amazing with nice views. The service and staff is excellent. Rooms are clean. Food quality is delicious.
The staff and hotel were TOP NOTCH. The views during the day and at night are breathtaking. I would recommend The Grand Hyatt to anyone visiting the Tampa Bay area. You won't be disappointed.
Best hotel in Tampa! Diana at the front desk was one of the best employees I have ever worked with. She definitely went the extra mile for my family. We will be returning just because of her.
Wonderful Hotel with beautiful rooms a very friendly concierge desk. Great restaurants and magnificent views of Tampa Bay
I have a quiet bungalow, which was quite the surprise. The best feature is the fan in the room
i havent been there before but does it cost $208 to check in the hotel and $233 per night
Simple hotel and quite nice but small flat it is unfortunately located at the crossroads of 2 highways.
An amazing hotel, great service. This place has a convenient location next to the airport and a pool that makes it feel like your at the beach. Their are jet ski rentals and food and drinks by the pool and multiple restaurants all with good service.
Omg, I just love the hotel. It was very elegant inside and out. The rooms was very clean, comfortable and very spacious. The staff was very professional. The view from the roof top restaurant was amazing. All I could see for miles was beautiful sparkling water day and night. The airport was only 5 minutes away. You can see the planes fly in and out from the roof top. The stake and oyster hotel next door was awesome! We can't wait to come back.
Stayed here for our anniversary. Hotel was nice and friendly staff. The pool was small and dirty so we didn't get in. There was a win glass out side our room from the day we arrived and was still there the day went checked out which was 4 days. And at the ice machine food on the floor for a couple days before it was picked up. The room was nice but the bathroom area was small.
Very Overrated. You are basically paying triple for some bum to open a door for you. The lobby is aesthetically beautiful, but you can get a lot more for a lot less. Plus here you are far from everything exciting but close to tolls. Did I mention $10/day for wifi?
We stayed at this hotel in December of 2010 in a Casita King. The Casitas are not as nice as the rooms, but more private and there is a koi pond along them. When I checked in, there was no parking for registration, it is all fire lanes and taxi stands. I parked in the fire lane and went to check in. Even though I prepaid 2 months in advance, I had to give them a credit card to check in, and a hold was placed on that card for that full amount. It didn't come off for several days after check out. The man smuggly handed me the keys and told me breakfast was here from 6-10.
I went to the room, that was far from the closest parking, with all the luggage and found a 12x12 square with a bed in it. There was fake cabinets with no usable drores in them, a small bathroom and a very small patio that isn't private at all. The first flush overflowed the toilet and flooded the room. The only mirror is so far recessed that you can't shave, etc. Only a single outlet was available in the room and it was by the sink. Bummer.
The next morning my wife and I went down for breakfast, got our plates of good food (not great but normal) and sat down to eat. Then after we finished we were given a bill for $40 from our supposed waitress for our half plate of food each and OK coffee and bad orange juice - obviously a mix with unfiltered Florida water.
There is no good news about this place, we stayed in Florida 15 days and this was the most money and tied for the worst hotel. Will never return, just avoid this place.
Excellent hotel. .Comfort. .Service..Location. .very good attention. .Rest of quality with varied options. .Pub. .I recommend it. .
Extremely clean and comfortable. Would definitely co.e back.
Went to ballroom, very nice venue. Large space and great ambiance.
My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon and were very satisfied. The room and hotel were very clean and quiet. Everything is upgraded in the hotel from what I could see. Everyone was very courteous, they held open the doors for us and welcomed us every time we came back from an outing. The staff at the front desk would chat with us as well. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bay view was beautiful. I do have two complaints but I don't feel that they were enough to deduct points for. Number 1 being that the server at the breakfast buffet one morning was horrible. She got us a drink and then we didn't see her after that until she brought the check. Number 2 being that the construction they are doing is VERY loud, however I knew they would be doing it before we came so I can't necessarily complain. Plus, when my husband called to complain they gave us complimentary wireless service for our stay. Overall, the hotel was wonderful and well worth the money.
If they would open back up to precovid would be 5 star!!
Their restaurant Armani's is AMAZING and GREAT view!!!
Beautiful hotel, went there for a wedding, great venue!! They took care of everything, very professionally!
