It's very central. Around shopping, restaurants also bars and sighting tours. Staff friendly.
Beautiful, friendly service
Delicious food
I recommend
Nice hotel. Large rooms. Great for those who want vintage style decor. Great breakfast. Very helpful staff. In the middle of all the action. No fault of the hotel, I just wish the open concert across the street in the Constitution Square would finish sooner.
Hotel rooms were from the 70's.
Everything really old.
Room to neighbors way too loud.
Breakfast served with old croissants.
Location was good, but that's about it
Max 2 stars for this hotel
Superbly located hotel, chic and comfortable, quiet and relaxing
Employees and managers very professional, warm and friendly
Excellent breakfast
Very centrally located hotel with friendly staff.
Our double room was quite spacious. Bathroom with two sinks, shower and bath and separate toilet.
Many sights in the immediate vicinity.
Recommended for a city break.
Hotel with good location in the center of Luxembourg correct and clean rooms, attentive and pleasant staff
Very central, comfi and got character. The breakfast was very good and staff helpful and friendly.
Very friendly and helpful staff. They were the best part of the hotel! It's an old building with a lot of history. Some of the criticisms on the rooms are a little overblown. My bed was fine, the room was a little too hot and since it had no windows facing outside (only inside, oddly enough), I had very little airflow. Besdies that, though, great for the price. Can't beat the location
We visited the bar. Cozy place, good cappuccinos and friendly staff. Decoration is very nice and even if the place looks posh, you feel very welcome
Charming hotel. Very attentive staff. Very well located. Amazing buffet breakfast. If we go back to Luxembourg we will stay there again.
Depending on the room you are in, you will have a great view of the monument of remembrance. The room was nice, and the staff was helpful.
Great hotel downtown Luxembourg, clean, friendly, retro, great breakfast buffet
It's really hard to finden a hotel in Luxembourg that is any good at all. Most of them are overprized. You might want to give The Cravat a chance. It's right in the city center, the rooms are OK. Breakfast is really great and comes with classical music. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
A return to the 20s, I love it! Very professional staff! Impeccable hygiene! Nice stay!
To Start -- I typically stay in hotels 80 - 100 nights a year all over the world, so I have a very good idea of what to expect from various properties in terms of service, quality, and amenities. This was an impromptu trip to Luxembourg, so I booked an Executive Room approximately 2 hours prior to arrival via an online hotel booking site. Upon check in with Isabelle, she was very flustered and asked if I had booked under a different name. She told me to sit down. 10 minutes later she "found" my reservation and gave me my key. When I entered the room, it was very hot and small. I called downstairs and was reminded that the hotel rooms did not have air conditioning. The hotel was right on this one that it is not listed on their website as an amenity.
However, the real issue was that the room I was given was NOT an executive room. If you go to the Hotel Cravat official website, both Executive Rooms feature a large bathroom with a separate tub and shower and one of the rooms features a separate livingroom. My room was small and had an equally small bathroom. No separate bathtub, parlour, or any other features that would make it "executive". I went back downstairs and asked for a different room. I was told that the room I was given was indeed "executive" because it had a new tv. I told Isabelle that I would like to receive a refund as I was going to stay in another hotel. She informed me she would have Carlo, the manager process it.
I left the hotel and checked into a much nicer hotel down the street. Later that evening, I received a disturbing note from Carlo the manager stating "You booked an executive room and received a room on the 4th floor that is executive floor. I do not see why writing wrong things on the net. We have no airconditionning and never had. Sorry if you did not read carefully before booking."
The next day, I went back by the hotel and spoke to Isabelle who informed me that Carlo would not be processing a refund for my booking. I asked to speak to a manager and was told no manager works on the weekends. I was told that "Mr. Cravat" would be there at 10AM the next day. I came by the next day (my last day in Luxembourg) and was told by Mentor, that Mr. Cravat was busy but that my request for refund was approved and would be processed on Monday. After speaking with the hotel booking site, they had me on a conference call and I heard Mentor say that we had never spoken and that he would NOT be processing a refund.
In short, never in my life have I been defrauded like this. I did not receive the room that I booked, did not stay in the room, was told I would receive a refund, and was then lied to after the fact. Do yourself a favor and stay in one of the many other wonderful hotels in Luxembourg, but stay away from what is nothing short of a fraud.
Old hotel, a bit worn noblesse, definitely worth experiencing, elegant, very hardworking waiters, helpful maids in traditional clothes, great location and wonderfully nostalgic.
Great location, an appearance of once being a grand hotel but rooms are all dated now, like from the 80s. Did look like they were changing carpets, so perhaps updates are in the works.
Nice rooms, wonderful breakfast, very good location.
The rooms have great classic character, regal high ceilings, and the large windows provide good air flow through the room. We were there during the heat wave in August, and having the windows open really made a great difference.
The staff is wonderful. The friendly housekeepers respected your space and always had a helpful attitude. The dining staff tried to cater to your needs, and even remembered what we preferred to drink after we'd been there a few days. The front desk was always patient, kind and super helpful, even when there were last minute changes. Bettim especially went out of his way to always be cheerful and find solutions or recommendations for us!
The breakfast is 25 euro if you just walk into the dining room. However, it's very easy to have breakfast included in your room price or even ask for it when you arrive, and costs less that way... so that shouldn't be a problem. The breakfast was fully stocked with a wide diversity, tasted very good and saved us lots of money versus going out for breakfast (and the dining room was old-school classic and well-appointed).
We stayed here last year, and enjoyed being in the heart of the old district with breathtaking views. The good service, bright rooms and convenience of location had us excited to come back this year!
Thank you for another great stay - we can't wait to return!
(the second photo is the view from our room)
Historic Hotel situated in a strategic location, close to the historical center. Some of the rooms have been renovated, others are a bit 'antiquated, although spacious. There is no air conditioning in the summer. Good breakfast buffet. Kettle for you and herbal teas in the room.
Good location but very old fashioned furniture and deco, no aircon (awful in July), very small breakfast range. Not worth the high prices.
Very nice hotel in the cemtrum of Luxembourg
Staff very friendly
Old hotel with charm. Everything was very clean. Very good service / staff. You feel like visiting Omi or a little bit like visiting a museum. Has the oldest lift in all of Luxembourg.
It's an OK Hotel. It's very very very outdated, nothing is modern. It's lika a flashback into the 50's 60's 70's or 80's or all at the same time? You feel the rooms have had their time. But, at the same time, the hotel is so full of charm, history and staff whom have obviously been working there for a very long time, the place feels comfortable and cosy.
So in spite of the initial feelings I still think it was worth 3-4 stars.
However, the continental breakfast for 25 Euro, was awful and not four star worth in any way. Moreover been waiting for a second coffee whilst trying to get your attention which in the end we just gave up.
Sorry guys, fix the breakfast and service during breakfast, then the charm will take the upper hand again.
Nice view. Charming hotel
Bad insulation of rooms and value for money a bit excessive
Nice cozy hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Recommended.
Good place but when you stay at summer time this hotel dont have an AC.
Very central hotel, with interiors reminiscent of the beginning of the century.
Delicious
Wonderfully located hotel, spacious room, excellent service, no air conditioning.
Nice little hotel located in the old city side, got a great part near by, and the breakfast is great
Perfect welcome, comfortable room, and quiet and very good breakfast.
Delicious old-fashioned grandeur. Beautiful rooms, great breakfast, very friendly staff. Instead of a candy in the evening on your pillow an apple! And, as icing on the cake, a delicious welcome cocktail that you can choose yourself. We were surprised: a cocktail with whiskey. Love it.
Centrally located hotel, certainly getting old, but that makes the charm of the house. A friendly welcome on arrival and continue with every contact with the reception. Also in the breakfast room very friendly staff. The rooms are good and very clean. There is still tidy cleaned what in many hotels left a lot to be desired. All in all a nice stay. For me 100 percent recommendation.
Top hotel, cheap, delicious breakfast, very competent staff. Generous rooms. Central location. The only negative point: the single-glazed windows let in a lot of cold.
So under a "Grand Hotel" I really understand something else. Renovation needed and really no charm, except the back of the lobby. Location is very central, staff and breakfast in order.
Positive comments:
The view from the balcony was really lovely, the staff were friendly and happy to help with anything. Good location, in the centre of Luxembourg City. The rooms had a classical, maybe 1920-1950ish feel? They were really well styled, it was a nice change from the modern style of a chain hotel.
Negative comments:
When we first arrived, they couldn t find our reservation and it took us a while to get through reception. There was also mould in parts of the bathroom.
The overall feeling is good, the location is super good!
The Grand Hotel Cravat (Luxemburg) is very well located; in this way, it was always possible to make our journeys, to return to the hotel for a brief rest, and to continue what had been planned.
When we arrived, very late, we considered it very nice, on the part of your services, to have an apple, as a form of reception.
The staff were efficient and welcoming. We would like to emphasize the fact that there was a very pleasant dialogue, at breakfast, by the employees who were there, who, in a very correct way, were pleased to guide us on the best routes to take in your country. Whenever we had any doubts, there was a good disposition to enlighten us at the reception.
We highly recommend the Hotel Grand Cravat when visiting the beautiful country of Luxembourg. It's perfect location directly opposite the Place de la Constitution is steps from dozens of shops, restaurants and historical sites and activities. The staff is multilingual and impeccable, will address every need and answer every question. We can't wait to return!
Hotel with character, splendid to go with your partner and discover the center of the city. Next to the cathedral and the City Hall. Recommendable.
The organization it is really bad, we checked in and for the same room price they gave us different room (super bad one) compared with our friends. Even though we complained they didn't (at least) apologize.
We rested in HOTEL CRAVAT in the summer of 2019. The hotel is beautiful, in my favorite retro style, in the city center. The room was excellent, comfortable, with panoramic views of the square. Breakfast is like in a luxury hotel. I was delighted with everything! On my birthday at the end of October, my spouse asked me to bring me to this beloved hotel! Amaliya, Paul Carlier, Belgium
It is a good hotel in the old center. Breakfast with the same dishes every day.
Do not rely on photos of the site to get an idea. Hotel old, very old ... the slogan of not installing the airco for ecological reasons; I think there is simply no desire to invest in the hotel. Price too high for this hotel, do not forget to add the price of public parking (at the price of a city center parking) to your bill. Warm welcome and despite all very good situation for who want to be in the center.
Full of history and nice staff but needs and big upgrade.
Super well attended, receptionists speak Portuguese
I was attacked in front of their establishment some years ago and they REFUSED to call the Police. Shameful and unacceptable behaviour.
Just a money grab without real concern for people. They told us to GO AWAY.
Vestige of a big hotel now out of time. Closure in sight.
Hotel well located, classic style. Alas very badly isolated from the noise of traffic ... Excessive price (varying from one day to another): 200 per night for a standard room, without breakfast (+ 25 breakfast). Value for money very low, and that deserves to be reviewed against the offer of other hotels in this same price range.
Friendly check-in, great location and comfortable room.
We return without problem. Family atmosphere.
Bar ++.
Old world charm, excellent staff, great location and great breakfast.
Excellent location, interior in its original condition, top service.
Great service and rooms. Near the center of the shopping district. Loved the old style and rooms.
I highly recommend this hotel! Warm, understanding and welcoming staff.
This hotel may awe you one time and bitterly disappoint another. This is what I don't like. It's a lottery: if you get a nice big room with a view, bingo. If not, you could find yourself in a hole. And both bookings feature just a double room. The location of the hotel is very good though.
The hotel is very well placed in the heart of Luxemburg with a great view over the river valley. But the rooms can get very noisy, as windows are not well isolated and need to be opened on a warm night. Staff told us the street noise would not be their responsibility.
Old cozy hotel with charm right in the city. Especially now at Christmas time.
Perfect location with dedicated staff. Breakfast was wonderfull, the bed was perfect. We felt like royalty
Amazingly well situated in the centre of town, great selection for the buffet breakfast, and staff are attentive and friendly. Rooms are clean, stylish and very comfortable beds. We loved our stay here and would gladly recommend it.
Lovely hotel. Professional and courteous staff. Pleased to recommend.
This room has no slippers. Water only in the minibar
Not a good hotel, very old decoration, old and sad rooms and no air conditioner. I won t recommend this place.
Very expensive hotel. Could be more offered to service
