Amazing hotel bar, amazing experience. You are transported from the moment you walk in. Highly recommend.
Not great for a Saturday night, if you actually want to sleep
Pros:
+ Great location with fun things to do in walking distance in any direction
+ Connected to Maialino, great place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks
Cons:
- There is a club on the first floor that plays loud music until 5 am. We had a room on the 3rd floor and we ended up moving room at 3 am because it was impossible to sleep. On the 6 floor, noise was manageable
- The club seems to also make the hotel generally messy. The lobby at 3 am was pretty crazy with glasses everywhere and people sleeping on the couches. One elevator's floor was covered in drinks and ice
- Heater/AC unit in the room makes a significant amount of noise
- Rooms can be very small. Our room had a queen bed and just 3 ft surrounding the bed. They wanted extra money for a king bed despite being a Platinum with Marriott which should make me eligible for free upgrades
In conclusion, despite the great location, I won't be back there, especially on weekends. It felt more like a party dorm than an hotel. Maybe fun for young crowds in their 20s that don't really plan on sleeping...by the way, housekeeping start knocking on doors at 9 am to see if they can start cleaning up.
Rustic hotel that has plenty of character. You can feel it when you walk in with the lighting, furniture and crackling fire. My room was on the 15th floor and was large with a table, couch, fully equipped bar and large bed. They have lamps in the room that give a darker ambiance but also have large brighter lights in the room and bathroom so you don't feel like you are in the dark (I've been to similar hotels that don't have this like the High Line Hotel). Overall great hotel but pricey, it is a design hotel which you can get SPG points for.
The room and bathroom are extremely tiny, and the whole place seems dilapidated. The hotel desperately needs a remodel and their high rates are absolutely not justified. Do youself a favor, and choose a different hotel.
Phenomenal terrace was a perfect venue for my friends' wedding
One of my favorite stays in NYC. Low key and comfortable.
No coffee machines in room-just loads of expensive booze
Friendly staff, cozy hotel. Perfect for business trips.
Luxury hotel with high end furnishings that exude opulence. Was remodeled in the mid-2000s so nothing feels dated. Toiletries are Aesop branded
I have no idea why the reviews for this place are so positive. For the money, 2 stars is quite generous. Very old with medieval style decor. Absolutely not worth the money. Staying here was a mistake. Keep looking.
It was clean, cozy and inviting. I love the lobby furniture, it was quaint, I felt as if I could sit there and write a novel!
My entire stay here was great. I arrived somewhat late from JFK and the front desk was super welcoming and friendly... even that late at night. Room service and concierge was also great (I ordered the grilled cheese - it was super and not what I expected). The hotel itself is probably my new favorite in NYC... feels dark and moody, without feeling pretentious.
I ll definitely be staying here again.
The room met all our needs. The service was fantastic. We really enjoyed having access to the park next to the hotel.
Why is it when hotel changes management the service is never the same. Why shouldn't there be a level of consistency for their regular clients. From housekeeping pestering you every five minutes to clean your room, to the horrible food that with leave a bitter taste in your mouth and leave with a queasy sensation. Especially with the unhelpful
staff which on more than one occasion answered is in a very rude way. Nothing seems to be the same except the decor. The glamorous Gramercy days are gone, and it begins with their clientele. Instead of having the dark glamour elite, it is now filled with trust fund kids who use this hotel as a place to get their hookers, and the rooms as a place for them to spend an hour or two enjoying the company of these apparently 'rented' women (sometimes even men)! This would be the perfect hotel for a eastern businessman looking for very little class and service. Bring them some of New York's finest escorts and their good to go. Definitely will not be staying here anymore!!
Beautiful hotel!!! The bed is so comfortable!! This hotel is set in a beautiful and quiet location right across from the park. I'd stay here again.
The rose bar hostess and staff were rude and short to new patrons who were not familiar with their setup on a pack night.
A NYC winner!! Small rooms, but clean, well appointed. Great amenities. Helpful staff members. Location, location, location AAA+ We will most definitely be back.
Great job of renovation...the iconic location never looked better... can't wait to go back.
Great cocktails and amazing holiday atmosphere. Try the mule.
Overpriced food because gratuity is included with the price
The color of the walls is not good, it makes people feel dull, and it is a bit old.
Nice size rooms, a bit dark. The bar has wonderful cocktails and the service is great
An extremely fine hotel with incredible service and a great staff.
Nice place to stay. Quiet area in NYC. Bars are good. Wish staff was more friendly... They make you feel like you are bothering them.. but over all good.
Beautiful hotel with a wonderful restaurant and lovely staff!
Wonderful time at the hotel. Great atmosphere and staff
Very classy place with lots of good looking ladies. It seems that most of the are models.
Nice suite, front desk was pleasant. Room was clean. Upgrade was suite. Would stay again. Door man should be outside and more attentive. He shouldn't offer to take my bags up as I am at front desk checking in.
Perfect food and amazing wine list, but even perfection could be a little cheaper
Really cool hotel with very unique vibes. Staff are super kind and helpful. Location is right in Gramercy Park, could walk to most places or just take a cab/Uber. Rooms were super nice and very cool. Would recommend coming here !
The terrace was beautiful, lovely and helpful staff, and the atmosphere of the hotel was relaxed with a medieval gothic 80s vibe. There was so much original art and pieces that brought the space to life.
This chic hotel is situated right by Gramercy Park, and they have the key to the famously private (key-gated) park. The park itself isn't great; you'd think it'd have some special lure about it but it's just a plain park. Was the park worth staying at the hotel for? No. But still, the hotel itself is pretty nice with good decor and comfortable beds. I did wish that the rooms were a bit brighter; the colors are rather dark.
Nice atmosphere and the view on the city. A room with lots of light bulbs on the ceiling looks awesome
Cool little boutique hotel, more well suited for my pretentious Manhattan kin but very nice overall nonetheless.
Could feature in the Great Gatsby: dark light, jazz played, delicious cocktails and whiskey - and beautiful crowd
Super comfortable hotel, absolutely great!
Small and fine in a prime location. Fantastic roof terrace for breakfast and more. Very friendly staff, excellent ambience. Absolutely recommendable!
Beautiful lounge and bar area with great cocktails. Didn't stay the night but would recommend the bar for a drink.
Expensive, but the rooms are beautiful, the lobby smells amazing and the bath products are high quality.
Chic Bohemian Charm in all it's glory. The rooftop is best place for a swanky yet intimate gathering.
This is a 5 star hotel according to NY standards so take that in to consideration, more like 3-4 star on a global standard. Danny Meyers restaurant Maialino is on site which makes things a bit better. Check in/check out was nothing special. Rooms are standard and nothing to write home about. We had the room with the Japanese soaking tub which is a nice addition as was the access to Gramercy Park. Rooms are a bit dated though and it's feels like the entire place needs a overhaul in order to complete with the likes of the Mandarin Orinetal New York, which is on another level.
Amazing, vintage hotel. Everything is a luxury and at a luxury price. Staff have pretty adequate service. L
After waiting on room service for 45 minutes they called us back to change the order after they ran out of our food. So room service took longer. Morning room service was efficient.
Beautiful rooms, polite staff, what more could you ask for!
I stayed for only one night before a job interview. Only needed one thing to work and it didn t: the wifi. I asked the front desk and the staff promised to look into it but I never heard back.
The room is large, stylish but dark. Completely agree with another review here: too much style and too little substance. Not a hotel I will come back to.
Just hung out at the bar, drinks were good. Place is okay.
Amazing place, but it s terrible service and they ll put the gratuity included. That is terrible. I really felt insulted getting the check with the tips included.
