Got an invite for this years International Women s Day Celebration . Based from a New Yorker local that I spoke to they consider this as the New York White House of the City . The place is nice, well kept to its original look and feeling. You ll have a blast of the past experience once you re inside. Recommended!

Beautiful mansion and grounds overlooking the East River. If you get invited to an event or a tour defiantly go. I was there to meet Rudy Giuliani when he was Mayor of New York, with politics aside the Mansion is worth any extra effort to get a look at this fascinating piece of architectural history.

It was cold and windy. I arrived early for 1 pm special tour of Gracie Mansion. The security guard called and advised me that a docent would come out and then she could let me in. Until then, she was just following orders and could not grant me permission.
I am almost 87. I am past my prime for standing and waiting in the cold. It took the docent 20 minutes to come out.
The invitation I had received indicated that for $25 I would receive a tour and lunch. I hadn't had anything to eat since breakfast. At 1 pm the fare was high tea. The food selection was inadequate and too rich for my diet.
I have been to barbeques at Gracie Mansion and thought I knew what was coming.
Now, for the good part of the afternoon. The tour itself was informative. The group was also given the privilege of going upstairs. The manner in which the historical society has preserved the decour is comendable. I am especially greatful for the young docent who followed me with a chair, so that I could sit down while the tour director spoke. When the time came to go upstairs, she heard me say that I would wait downstairs. She beckoned to me and said "I will take you up on the elevator". What a sweet person she is.
Thank you for your hospitality.
Sincerely,
Bubbe

It's okay. If you're expecting a tour about the history, significance of the furniture pieces, carpets, or architecture you'll be disappointed. Almost nothing is mentioned about the building itself and the tour focused on just the artwork on the walls. There should be separate tours, one for the art installations and one for the actual mansion and it's historical significance.

Another amazing free NY historical site! Sign up online for a one hour tour of the ground floor. Really neat artwork, including some great Normal Rockwells. Was very impressed by the painted wallpaper in one of the sitting rooms. Also a great signed Robert Moses portrait. Highly recommend for any locals, great was to learn more about the city.

We were not allowed to take pictures and we had to turn off the phone. Few rooms can be visited, only one floor, and the whole visit was concentrated on an exhibition hosted more than on the house itself. Furthermore, in the email they sent us before they introduced us, they told us to come without any kind of backpack, which is very inconvenient for tourists. Only positive note that is free but must be booked! The visit is also not free but guided by an English guide.

On May 15, Visitation Circle, a women's group from St. Vincent Ferrer parish on UES visited the "She Persists" show and want to express our appreciation to Susan, our guide, who really shared her expertise, remarkable insights and enthusiasm.

Crowded, but relatively litter-free.. There were quite a few strange people doing odd things on the lawn areas.. trying to pet the squirrels.. a group of people trying on all different clothes like some sort of flea market.. all in all, it was an interesting time and my dog had fun.

Was lucky enough to get to go to the Gracie Mansion Holiday Open House today. The holiday decorations were on point! The house is just gorgeous and has so much history. I love that the public is able to see this place up close and personal. After touring the house we were lead outside to a tent overlooking the river where we got to munch on gingerbread cookies and yummy Apple cider.

Some time ago this building was officially home of governer of New York. Something like a White House of president of the United States. Today just non profit organisation but the idea of governer living here seams a little romantic doesn it. It is in the beautiful park.
