Alert all gamers! Come home to the mother ship! Seriously though, a great store if you're any kind of gamer. Staff super helpful with questions, and I think they hold tournaments there.

Since reawakening the board game addiction/monster inside me three years ago I have shopped around at multiple game stores. I work in Milwaukee and live in the Fox Valley....so I have a LOT of opportunity to visit game stores other than Chimera, and I have done so in the past. I won't name the other stores, I'm not looking to directly slam them, but in many of those stores I have received unwelcome and even hostile attitudes (quite hostile in one instance).

More than a few of them are pushy, highly sales oriented, environments; extremely sterile. As you enter the store automatons approach you in their "team" shirts, silently gliding across their super polished floors (kind of scary if you don't see them coming first), with their canned greetings and fixed smiles.

If you're into that sort of thing then fine. Me? I prefer a shop with some history and character. I prefer a shop that is purely about gaming for the love of gaming.

I've never received anything but a friendly reception at Chimera. At both Appleton and Fond Du Lac. They've always been attentive when I've sought attention and have always helped me when I have needed help.

Staff are friendly. Better yet....their staff are gamers.....ALL of them. They have a good range of product. If they don't have something they will get it for you.

Do the shelves seem a bit cluttered? Not to me but I could see some people thinking that.....but whatever floats your boat. Chimera is a FLGS. Not a chain store. A FLGS by its very nature will minimize floor space expenses in order to offer better deals to its community.

I am cost conscious. Gaming is an expensive hobby. I understand that often Amazon sells stuff cheaper than any brick and mortar. But I like supporting local businesses. I would rather pay a few extra $$$ to keep a local shop afloat than save a few buying it online. But, with all that said and done, Chimeras prices are very good. Sometimes product is standard list prices, every brick and mortar store does that, but never higher - at least not from what I have seen - and I have shopped around. In fact I refuse to go to some of those other stores simply because they tack on a standard $3-$4 over list price, across the board (no pun intended), just because they can.

Chimera doesn't do that. They often run specials, have a loyalty program, etc, so over time it's a wash financially. There might be a few $$ to be saved on a one off/single purchase online but Chimera implements programs to balance that out if you stick with them. They know they have to compete and they do.

Personally I think Chimera is the quintessential FLGS. I'm not getting any kickbacks for saying that. It's a store with character that, in all honesty, if it wasn't doing things right, wouldn't have celebrated its 25th anniversary last year.

If nothing else, the fact they've been in business for 25 years is it's own positive press.

If they don't have it they will get it. They have a very wide range of hobby games and puzzles. From DnD to Marvel stuff. Kids toys to card games. They even trade in rare card game items.

Very influential and successful visit. The owner was working and was very customer orientated. You could see his passion for his store as we discussed items and games. Will continue to provide my business to this game shop versus saving a few bucks over the internet.

They have a great selection of gaming merchandise whether it's a table top role playing game, card game or select console or pc games. They also have a great set up in the back to try out some of the items.

This shop has an excellent selection of games and gaming supplies. Staff was great; I asked about a game and she was more then willing to look it up and get me more info. Had to have my boyfriend pull me out before we over spent. They also have a loyalty program which is a bonus. I live a couple hours away but was worth the drive. Definitely will be back.

Always stop in when I'm in Appleton area you can always find great deals and items. Even out of print items and figures. If I had one complaint it would be I wish he would open one in Green Bay Area. I've been dealing with Bob Moses for years he's a very nice and fair guy the employees he hires are always awesome in on point.

Love this store! Even if you are not an established 'gamer'.. you will find something you want here. (Appleton or Fond Du Lac) great people and awesome games and accessories. From comics, to cards, to full scale tabletop games. Check them out at least.

This game store is packed with products; puzzles, kids games, complicated games, rpgs, ccgs, comic books, collectible stuff... really something for everyone. They also have loads of product that smaller stores run out of and never get back in, so if you are looking for special editions of games/books/cards check them out.

The staff is knowledgeable and happily willing to share what they know to ensure you walk out with something you are going to enjoy. Last but not least as it's a game store it's an important category... the place doesn't stink like BO, fast food, and trash.

The oldest and best tabletop game store in Appleton. Excellent selection of Warhammer, collectible card games, role playing games, fantasy miniatures, board games, comics, and so much more. Friendly staff who remember you if you are a regular customer. The interior was recently remodeled with better organization and lighting. Their gaming area has been closed since Covid, but normally is a great place to play wargames and CCGs.

Amazing selection of products: board games, RPGs, comics, miniature games, puzzles and fun hobby extras (like Funko brand). Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Chimera sets the bar for what a hobby store should be.

Love this place to find unique games. It had been awhile since we had gone in (like 5 years) and they still had our loyalty card on file. I also love all the kids toys, a lot of Melissa and dog. I prefer to shop local when I can and I now know where I will be going for some of my daughters birthday gifts.

I'm not much of a tabletop game player, but if I was, this would be my go to place. I mainly come here to play D&D with a group of guys, and we play in some of the back rooms. Plenty of privacy there, but there's also the open tables they use for tournaments and community events. A really friendly environment, and plenty of tabletop games to choose from, I don't even know where to start with all of it. 100% reccomend if you're ure looking for this type of place.

Fun little hobby shop! The area gets a little 'sketchy' at night, but it's an awesome shop with A LOT of variety and good finds! My girlfriend and I love this place! It's pretty family friendly, too.

Maybe I had a bad experience, but the staff were unwilling to answer questions and would cut me off before letting me finish a sentence. I didn't know what I wanted - being basically brand new to card games - so I figured I'd ask an expert for advise about this or that. Nope, "Just check the website!" the large man behind the counter would sputter. I went elsewhere, and found the staff to be much more accommodating. Decent selection, but probably won't return any time soon.
