I received a gift certificate to Gloria's some time ago. I had been there before and wasn't super impressed, but hey, free food is free food, right?

The first time I tried to use my gift certificate, no one came to greet me or take my order after I was seated. I waited for about 20 minutes before getting up and leaving to get food somewhere else. It was 45 minutes before they closed, so I figured, hey, it's the end of the night, no big deal.

I tried again on my anniversary, like an idiot. Here's my list of pros and cons about that evening:

CONS
-There was no host to greet us when we entered, and we had to wait 5-10 minutes with more and more customers coming in before someone finally showed up to seat us.
-Had to wait 20 minutes after being seated before even seeing our server
-Our drinks were watered down
-Never once received a drink refill
-Our server only came to our table when she had something for us. She never checked on us, or she would have known there was something wrong and could have possibly fixed it before we got so disgruntled.
-The appetizer (gnocchoni) was disgusting. I don't know if it's supposed to taste like that or if we just got a bad batch.
-The accordion player was too friendly. Maybe he could tell that a lot of people were unhappy with their service and was trying to cheer them up, but he spent more time talking very loudly to each table than he did actually playing.
-We received a bread basket 25 minutes after ordering, accompanied by oil and vinegar without any plates to put it on (and our waitress winked out of existence anytime she delivered something to our table, so we were unable to ask for some plates)
-We arrived at the restaurant at 6:00 (with a reservation), with tickets to the opera for 7:30. At 7:00, when our food was still not ready, we asked them to package it to go so we wouldn't be late for the opera. We had to wait another 20 minutes for our food, and in that time, 3 other tables got up and left because they were tired of waiting too.
-I tried my chicken Parmesan when I got home, and it was horrible. Chicken Parmesan is my favorite dish to order at any Italian place. This chicken was burned till it was blackened on one side, and there were still tendons and fat attached to the meat that I had to chew around. The sauce was mostly ground beef, which, in my opinion, isn't great for a chicken dish.

Pros:
-The wine was good.

As a former server, I understand that sometimes everything seems to go wrong at once. I try to be patient with service when I go out to eat, especially with really young servers. But the fact that it wasn't the only time this happened and that three other tables got up and left makes me think this is a reoccurring problem for this establishment. Seems to me that it was a case of improperly trained servers and an understaffed support crew (host, bussers, cooks). It for sure wasn't because they were busy; half the restaurant was empty. Now I know why.

I will NOT be eating there again.

Okay my girlfriend, wanted to have a evening on Center Street. We wanted to have some good Italian food. I have never been here so I thought we might go here. The outside looks great. But the inside was very dark. The Hostess didn't know what she was doing. She was just trying to seat people and seated us fast but was not served for a long while and I think we were forgotten about. So we just walked out.
I hope they step up there game. I've heard it was a great restaurant a while ago. Hopefully they will get there act together.

Absolutely perfect. Each plate is around $17-$20 but it is well worth it. The food is all prepared from scratch and the dinner includes bread, salad or soup, and a very generous entree. It is by far my favorite Italian restaurant, period. Nothing compares.

This place is gross and the food is terrible. Dirty tables, floors, utensils, and unkempt staff. Sent food back because I worried it would make us sick if we choked it down. This place should be condemned, nastier than Beto's.

Great service and beautiful ambience. I loved the accordion player and my waitress was so sweet to me. Unfortunately, the food isn't that great. My butternut squash soup was yummy, but my caprese was unsatisfactory (cheese was cheap and the overall taste was strange. I love caprese, but there was definitely something wrong with mine). And the cake slice I ordered was unappatizing.

First the food and service were good. Then, the food was good but the service was bad. Now, the food is disgusting and the service sucks. I've kept waiting for them to fix their problems and improve. But somehow they are worse everytime. Will not return.

This place was not what I thought it would be. Very slow service, the food was cold coming out, the sandwiches were so so dry and not much flavor. And then we found a part of a rubber glove underneath our fries!! The restaurant was pretty much empty and very dirty. Super expensive as well. Definitely not worth it, I won't be going back.

Obscenely overpriced, not very good at all, and offensively horrible customer service. We went in, and a manager was berating and belittling a very kind employee in front of us and other guests. Also rejected a coupon we had for them, leading to one of the most expensive dinners I've ever had, NYC and San Francisco included. Simply horrible in every way imaginable. Go around the corner to La Dolce Vita around the corner instead.

I went with my wife for the lunch specials. The atmosphere was OK, but the food was horrible. I ordered arrabiata with sausage and my wife ordered chicken fettuccine alfredo. The "cook" overcooked the pasta, so both of our dishes were just spaghetti. If the cook over cooks pasta, the easiest thing to make, then fire that cook first off.

Next the sauces were mediocre at best. I had soooo much garlic in my sauce that it over powered everything else about the dish. My wife and I were left completely dissatisfied.

Throughout the rest day we had soooo much gas and heartburn that there was no question as to what caused it. We will never be returning to this restaurant.

We have been coming here several times a year since it opened. I would agree with the other reviews in that the food is generally well prepared and good quality, but that overall the menu prices are above what you would expect in the area

Horrible waitress made us wait 15minutes while she was talking on the phone. this happen on 05/20/2016. Other waitress notice we were waiting to pay and completely ignore us. The guy with gages and long hair said " I love it when people get angry" while looking at us, worst experience ever!

It's hard to find a place that has excellent food across all the dishes. I have been to places with better pasta dishes. I have been to places with better cakes on the dessert menu. I've probably had a better italian sandwich somewhere but I'm not sure about that.
Gloria's manages to have great food in all three of those categories. I love their sandwiches. The rosata sauce is amazing, so no wonder it's award-winning. And ooooohhh to have a slice of that cake again.
Lunch deals are very affordable. My wife would always get a lunch special and I'd get a sandwich, and we'd share her cake.
If I had to eat at only one italian restaurant, it would be this place.
(A Con: The service is a bit mediocre at times.)

I found Gloria's when it was a hole in the wall on 300 south and it was fantastic food back then. When they moved to university and center they stayed true to their roots for awhile, and the environment was fun. They occasionally had an accordion player, and carried Draper Valley Vineyard, the best non alcoholic wine I've ever had. I don't know when they went downhill, but it was fast and hard. My wife went to eat there the last weekend they were open and ordered the gnocchi. The sauce was almost pure garlic, no exaggeration. My wife couldn't eat a bite and when she said something to the waiter he told her she better just pay for it because they'd already called the cops on one person that night. We don't miss this establishment.

Not completely price-justified. It's a good option for Italian in Utah Valley, but a poor option if you are looking for good Italian food; its comparable to Macaroni Grill. If you live in the valley and want to give it a shot, I'd say do it. Their desserts are marvelous! However, if you are visiting from out of town and want a unique restaurant, Gloria's probably isn't the place. It's a great option for students at the surrounding universities, looking to impress their dates. However, for those who aren't students, its relatively mediocre.

Food was okay when I ate it but not so great when I ended up really sick later that night. Did some serious back tracking to see if there was anything else that would have done it, and am pretty sure it was the food there. Since there is no way to unequivocally prove that it was the restaurant's fault, it's hard to definitively point the finger but I'm pretty sure. Ambiance and the location are cool. Salad not so good and the menu a little pricey for the quality. Since I had been there a couple times (prior to getting sick), I can say service is hit and miss given that some waiters are attentive, friendly and knowledgeable, others either don't know how to be servers or they have a lot of turnover.

The atmosphere here is good, but I feel like the food is lacking. I have only gone here on Saturdays, when they halve the price of their desserts. Although I have never disliked what I have eaten, it was nothing special--if you want something like gelato or ice cream, you'd be better off walking across the street to Rockwell's. Unfortunately, this has made it so I don't really want to try their entrees. However, they sometimes have live music, which is quite entertaining (including an interesting elderly man who can play any Disney song you can think of on his accordion).

I lived in Italy for two years and the food there is amazing. Gloria's Little Italy is just that, a little taste of Italy. The food tasted great and much better than anything you would get at the Olive Garden. It is a little pricey but worth treating yourself to some good fresh tasting food. For dessert, get yourself some gelato, you won't regret it.

Went here for Valentine's this year, and it was wonderful. I had the Chicken Marsala, which was exquisite. Our waiter, David, was very prompt, and helpful in deciding what to get. They also had an Accordionist who was amazing and made for a very Italy-like feel to it all, I would recommend it to anyone!

There is so much POTENTIAL with this location and building. Our waitress was very friendly and sincere. The food was brought out within five minutes of ordering it. It was only lukewarm and the chicken was so over-baked it was not pleasant to chew it. Although the evening was enjoyable, there are many other places where my $60 could have delivered a better meal.

The food is decent. I got Chicken Alfredo and I think that I prefer Boston Market's frozen Chicken Alfredo meal a little bit more than this one. Also, customer service was lacking... I think I was the only person in the restaurant with a smile. Only took 5 minutes, but I think I would rather go to Two Jacks Pizza, spend $11 and get a huge pizza and friendly staff.

This was my all time favorite place to go a few years ago. I told my husband how great it was so we made a reservation and we drove down from SLC to eat there for Valentine's. When we arrived there they didn't have our reservation and almost turned us away. Once we were seated they brought our soup and bread right away. The soup and bread were just as I remembered, amazing! Then we had to wait another 50 minutes to get our food. The food arrived and it was not how I remembered it. :( My husbands food tasted like they poured a bottle of old store bought spaghetti sauce on it. My food was okay but a let down as well. We didn't want to complain but the waiter could tell we weren't thrilled. She offered some gelato on the house. It was yummy but didn't make up for the food. I don't know if there is new management there or what. If you are going to charge $25 a plate please make it worth the money. Also it took over 30 minutes to pay for the check once we already informed the waiter we were ready to go. Not impressed and very disappointed, especially on Valentine's Day.

I ate there with my wife for Valentine's Day, and ...

I ate there with my wife for Valentine's Day, and it was horrible.

Gloria's Little Italy used to be one of our favorite places for a "fancy" night out. Great ambience, excellent food, good service, and a guy who walked around playing the accordion.

All of that was gone.

I don't know if it's under new management or what, but it was a completely different experience.

- There was no one up front when we walked in. 7 other couples were waiting with us, and it was 10 minutes before anyone actually came up and said "Do any of you have reservations?"

- The employee acting as host for the night was wearing a grungy black T-shirt, a backward hat, and had the social skills of a gerbil.

- We were seated in a grungy corner of the restaurant next to a partitioned section where they stacked all their unwanted tables, chairs, and kitchen appliances.

- The girl who acted as our waitress was very nice but was apparently not usually a waitress. She didn't know anything about the food, couldn't pronounce anything on the menu, and when she brought me my drink she said "I've never made an Italian soda before, so I have no idea if I did this right."

- We ordered an appetizer of some "Italian" fries with pesto, sun-dried tomatoes, and ricotta cheese. Everything on top of the fries was decent, but the fries are about what you would expect from a sub-par diner. It certainly wasn't worth the $10 we paid.

- I ordered the steak Marsala with fettuccine ($24). It was pretty awful. The pasta really wasn't good (how do you mess up fettuccine?), the sauce was very runny, and the steak was an inferior cut of meat (flank cut maybe?). That makes me sound posh, I know, but it was seriously not much better than what you'd expect to find in a Salisbury steak TV dinner. It definitely wasn't sirloin.

- One of the best features of Gloria's Little Italy was the man who would walk around to all the tables and play the accordion. It made for a really fun atmosphere and was very entertaining. That guy's gone now, apparently. The restaurant was dead silent other than an occasional complaint about the food. After a while, some classical piano music started playing, but it sounded like someone had recorded themselves going through a book of music but only playing the first page or two of each song (not very well, either) before trailing off. It was really weird.

- At the end of the night, we got our check ($60 for an appetizer, two drinks, and two entrees), but it took the waitress more than 20 minutes to pick it up and run my card.

Overall, it was a pretty bad experience that really put a damper on our Valentine's Day. We will probably not ever go back.

The food was terrible, the service was absolutely awful and the pricing was way too high. My wife and I went off recommendations from other people. I have to eat gluten free and Gloria's said they had an extensive gluten free menu which was false. The only gluten free option they offered was a brown rice pasta dish. The first problem was how long the food took to cook; we waited 45 minutes for our dishes. The pasta was under-cooked and crunchy. The sauce was full of oil that was separated already when I got the dish. My wife ordered the baked ziti dish. The pasta was dry, the cheese wasn't melted and she said the sauce tasted like the Walmart Great Value brand sauce. When we told the waiter the pasta wasn't cooked enough he just said, "That's too bad" and walked away. We didn't see him again until he brought the check. When he asked us if we wanted a box we said no, left the check there and told the manager that since we only took two bites we weren't paying for the food. She apologized and said not to worry about it (only good thing about the experience). I would never go there again nor recommend it at all.

My husband and I love going to Gloria's. It is our restaurant for special occasions, and we love weekends when the accordian player is there. Gloria's is the perfect way to relax, eat deliciously authentic food, and feel like you're not in Provo for a few hours. I'd recommend it to anyone!

Gloria's little crapily. Absolutely the worst Italian food in Provo. I've had much better experiences at Olive Garden and for sure at Macaroni Grill. The only thing this place has going for it is location. Ottavio's was way better--shame it's gone. Seriously though, Gloria's "garlic bread" is cheap white with garlic sauce sprayed on it from a squeeze bottle. Just aweful!

Absolutely my new go to Italian restaurant. Stand aside Olive Garden, this place has everything you had and more.

The ambience of the place is more of a larger City, from the location being at the dead center of Provo, to the open concept seating. The food was absolutely fantastic and surprisingly affordable. The costs were comparable with other Italian restaurants that have much lesser food. The desserts are to die for, particularly their fluffy chocolate cream desserts and gelato.

I had heard nice things about this place, but hadn't had a chance to get around to going before now. If you've been thinking about trying this place out, do yourself a favor, and go tonight.

We were there at lunch time and the place was almost empty. There was only one server and there appeared to be only one cook. Service was extremely slow, especially considering the lack of customers. *Extremely* slow. We were there for almost two hours and left the moment the last person was done eating.

We had to ask for napkins, small plates to put appetizers on, and we didn't get water refills for a very long time. The food was mediocre and several people's orders were "correct" but the ingredients didn't match what was on the menu. The decor was nice.

I am pretty open minded about where I eat. I try to tip extremely well and don't write reviews, I don't complain. My wife LOVES Italian food and it was her birthday. I am overweight and I rarely get cold. The restaurant was freezing cold. I asked the server, "this is as warm as we can make it". I looked around every customer was wearing a coat and freezing. The restaurant was nearly empty. The location is nearly perfect. Customers wanted to sit in the front of the restaurant but a light had burned out of the fixture the server said, "this is a light as we can make it." The olive oil tasted rancid to me. Salad was full of brown-ended lettuce. Ordered Lasagna was burnt on one side from the noodles on top not being tucked in below. My wife ordered chicken marsala, it was definitely overcooked, extremely tough tasted burnt. The whole dish was lacking. The water tasted extremely weird. I went to the restroom, prefer to not discuss it, I have seven young children at home and it wouldn't fly at my house! The service was unforgettably poor. To be fair and objective, overall, it was horrible, horrendous, and a complete tragic experience. Google requires you to give at least one star.

GO HERE FOR GELATOS AND THE CAKE DESSERTS. But DO NOT go here for the food!
My husband and I have always gone here for desserts after dinner from another place. Because they have a gelato and cake bar. Prices for gelato and cake ranges from $3-$6 per servings, depending on size. We decided to go here for my mom's birthday with about 10 other family members. Oh boy did we regret it. Food prices ranges from $15-$20 on average for a dish. The waitress was extremely RUDE and UNFRIENDLY. I don't know if she had a bad day or what but we told her that we were there celebrating our mom's birthday, and that did not make a difference in her demeanor. The food took awhile to come out (about 30-40 minutes), even though the restaurant was less than 1/3 full. And then when it did finally came out, it was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!! My home cooking version of Italian is better than this. And I'm not that great of a cook. Home cooked store bought pasta and store bought sauce in a jar tasted better than this restaurant! NONE of our family members liked the food. And there was over 10 of us. We don't know how they stayed in business for so long with this low quality of food, when there are many other quality restaurant just 2 steps away.

Food: Average

Food: Average

Service: Terrible.

Anyone who knows ANYTHING about Italian food can tell you that this place is NOT what you're looking for.

In all honesty if you are looking for good Italian food you have a better chance of finding it at the bottom of a frozen bag of Bertolli's. And, for half of the price.

I will just go to Black Sheep Cafe across the street or India Palace around the corner the next time I am looking for unique cuisine. Better atmospheres, more competitive prices, better food, and MUCH better service.

Gloria's Little Italy? Nothing fresh about it: not the food, and most certainly not the service.

Our experience was not very positive. I ordered the steak with gorgonzola and pears. The steak was a cheap cut and at least five bites needed to be discarded because of fat and gristle. My husband ordered the chicken marsala. It was so tough that it needed a steak knife to cut (no steak knife provided). Service was extremely slow even though there were only 3 parties in the whole restaurant. We won't be going back. Sorry!

Not impressed at all. Went on a Friday night at 7PM. There is a reason the restaurant was half empty on the busiest night of the week. There are much better Italian choices in Provo/Orem area, much better choices on the same block! Bruschetta was served with tomatoes already on the bread so bread was soggy. Tomatoes might have come from a can and did not taste fresh at all. Salad appeared to be from a bag with nothing else added. Pasta was only OK, Gnocchi was OK. Neither justified the price. I should note I do not mind paying $$$ for good food. I dislike paying $$$ for poor food. Accordion player was annoying. Took 10 minutes to get credit card back after waitress took the check while at least 6 wait staff sat around talking to each other. Will not go back. Lesson learned.

Great food, great atmosphere, and a great staff! We had an amazing experience at dinner tonight for an early father's day dinner. This is a place I have been wanting to try for quite a while and I am very pleased that we came tonight. Definitely some if the best Italian food I have had not only in Utah but anywhere in the country. The bread and olive oil alone is almost a spiritual experience. Appropriate portion sizes for the whole family and the menu has a great selection and variety of different dishes without being over whelming by the number of choices. Would definitely recommend it to everyone to come in and enjoy a great meal

Imagine that you just got home from a late day at work. You're starving, but you don't have a plan. You look in the fridge and there's some leftover cooked penne from the grocery store, a cooked Italian sausage, and a bottle of Classico Arrabiata sauce. You nuke the sauce, hastily cut up the sausage, mix it with the pasta, and drown all of it in the sauce hoping that it will heat everything up to save time. Some of the bigger pieces of sausage are still cold in the middle, but it's pretty good for having thrown it together in 5 minutes.
Now imagine that you are at Gloria's Little Italy, and you are paying $17 for that dish. If you are truly set on eating crappy Italian food, save yourself some money and just go to the Olive Garden.

I've never had a great experience at Gloria's, as the food is just okay and the price far too high. After my last visit, though, I don't know that I will ever go back. My food was awful (there was something really wrong with the pasta) and, instead of trying to fix it and make it right, the server and the manager apologized and then told me they hoped I would have a better experience next time. Really? You are going to give me awful food, charge me $20 for it, and then ask me to come back? Not going to happen.

I'll preface this by saying I am not the restaurant patron that goes out to eat looking for excuses to get mad and not pay a full tip. When I order a medium steak, I don't send it back if it comes out medium well or rare. I go out to eat with a patient and optimistic attitude. That being said, pay close attention to what I am about to tell you.
We decided to go to Gloria's for my wife's graduation celebration. We had gone there before and were impressed by the food and service, so we were excited to share the experience with our family. I made a reservation for 7:30 and we showed up promptly at that time. We waited for 45 minutes to be seated, and my party of 11 was squished into a space meant for 10. We saw the waitresses putting the table together think about putting in an extra table, but decide against it, so everyone on the right side of the table had to rub elbows the duration of our stay there. We waited 20 more minutes before orders were taken, and didn't see our main dishes until almost 9:45. During the wait, we were served copious amounts of mediocre garlic bread, and salads with lettuce so bitter, it probably would have tasted better to eat the dirt that grew it. The live accordion player was nice, but after we had heard him play "Kiss the Girl" the third time, we knew we had been there too long. After waiting over two hours our food finally arrived, and we all became very frustrated. Our orders, which encompassed the full spectrum of Italian pasta, were made entirely out of angle hair. We weren't even told about the substitution, and it was obvious that the pasta was overcooked and hadn't been drained sufficiently, making it more of a watery mash then the al dente perfection you would expect for a $16-$18 pasta dish. I ordered the Capellini Letizia which was supposed to have angel hair pasta, and it tasted like they not only ran out of pasta in the kitchen, but out of flavor entirely. The dish was a sad, tasteless, soulless excuse for Italian food that would have made Chef Boyardee disappointed, and I had to send my dish back because they forgot to include the chicken in it. The only thing remotely authentic about this Italian restaurant was the mafia-style shakedown we got from the owner of the restaurant when we pleaded our case and said we didn't think we should have to pay full price for there shoddy food and service. She came out from the kitchen in a rage, and caused a huge scene in front of a dinning room full of customers, and threatened to call the cops on us if we didn't pay the full bill. If you are resorting to threatening your customers to make sure the money keeps coming in, perhaps you should consider a career as a debt collector and not a restaurant owner. Restaurants that forget that their customer satisfaction comes first and can't admit when they have made mistakes will not last long. Anyway, we paid the money, left abruptly, and went to the Taco Bell on 9th, which I would award 4 stars for their prompt service and decent food. If you still decide to go to Gloria's after this, consider yourself warned.

We went on a Thursday night for dinner. The food was great! Slightly pricier than say Olive Garden, but the atmosphere was perfect. The service was a little slow but we barely noticed since we were having a good meal. Make sure you get some gelato before you leave!

I love love love this place. My Italian father makes us go here whenever we are in town. The sauces and pasta are such unique and amazing flavors. Love their desserts and overall just love the setting of the restaurant. One of my favorite places to go in Provo.

This might be the best restaurant in Provo. We were charmed by a singing accordionist and the fast and friendly service. I have been to Italy, and the food at Gloria's is truly authentic. But that does not mean it isn't delicious. The warm garlic bread drizzled with olive oil is almost worth a visit alone. The pasta and sauces are unbelievable, and the gelato is as light and fresh as it is in Rome. This place is great for date night or any night.

The only prompt part of the service was being seated. Literally everything else was incredibly slow. We waited well over an hour (half the tables were empty), and then we were told that they didn't have the ingredients for one of our dishes. Not sure why it took over an hour to figure that out, at least they didn't charge for the substitution. We had been there for nearly 2 hours before our food came. Some of the food was good, some was pretty marginal. After waiting so long, none of us really felt like eating it once it finally arrived and we just boxed it up and left feeling disappointed and underwhelmed. Not quite what you would hope for at $15-20 per plate.
I really wanted to love this place, the atmosphere and location are really neat, and it had so much potential. I hope that they are able to get things together and be more prompt with their service and consistent with their quality, otherwise I don't see myself coming back.

The food was decent, but over priced for what you received. The staff was friendly, but not attentive at your needs. For example the waitress did not offer refills for our drinks. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is well decorated though.

New Server wasn't bad, just slow. It took over an hour to get our food which if they were busy would be understandable. There were only two other tables with customers. The food was good but not enough to go back for.

Mostly mediocre food took a long time to arrive, especially with a mostly empty restaurant. Food was not quite as advertised, waitress didn't seem to know much about the menu, including how to pronounce some of their names.

The food was quite good. However, the service was pretty awful. Had to remind the waitress to refill drinks, an the table next to us hadn't even been offered drinks ten minutes after they sat down. The worst part was the guy playing the accordion. At first, it was nice to listen to. Then he started walking around to the different tables and telling loud, dumb jokes. At the table next to ours, he played a song about drugs and alcohol, which I thought was highly inappropriate for a family restaurant. My wife and I cut our dinner short and got out of there before he could come to our table, because we were obviously next the way he kept eyeing us. It was a very unpleasant experience, and despite the good food, I don't see us going back.
