Had afternoon tea there to celebrate my sister's birthday. The sandwiches and cakes were gorgeous all washed down with plenty of tea and a glass of champagne! They even arranged some cakes with a candle on top for my sister to blow out - very thoughtful. The service was brilliant and the surroundings comfortable. Well worth the money.

Very upscale hotel but quite relaxed with dress code presumably because of some many diverse guests.

Lounge area is plush, relaxed and there was no sense of being 'rushed out'.

The tea itself was excellent: good quality champagne; divine sandwiches ('proper' cucumber sandwiches as part of the selection); scones were a little small but were excellent too - the cream was *really* thick.

We were too full after that to partake in the cake collection but a box was provided for us to take them home.

Overall, an excellent experience and somewhere I would go again.

Service (from Safia) was very courteous and thoughtful.

Visited the Secret Herb Garden @ Royal Horseguards Hotel in my work break (local worker). It is a lovely, hidden gem just at the rear of the hotel and framed by the lovely Whitehall Gardens. I had the good fortune to be Served by the lovely Alexandra whose wonderful personality is a credit to the Hotel. Please ensure she receives high commendation for her warm and lovely and professional manner, so rare in these days of abrupt service values. I will be back!

I love this hotel and i like everything about it. It seems more like a London Club and has a much more intimate feeling that its contemporaries. It could perhaps do with some more imagination in the Equis bar which sort of nearly works but does not quite live up to the London cocktail bar expectation. Only a minor point which is why i have still scored it a 5. I have stayed in this hotel on three occasions and loved both rooms one double and one double twin. Ask for James or Ssank or Conrad if you can.

Excellent house, fantastic service, great breakfast, mega-friendly staff. View over the Thames directly to the London Eye. Optimal starting point to explore the city. The most famous places in the city are within walking distance, such as Trafalgar Square, National Gallery ...

A very disappointing experience ! My partner and I stayed here for two nights for our wedding. We did not receive a 5, 4 or even 3 star experience. To begin with, the shower had old bath products in it from previous guests (not properly cleaned). When we went out for the day at returned at 10:00pm our room was not cleaned, which wasn't such a big deal except they didn't have anyone on site to clean the room. We had to speak with reception 4 times in order to get basic items that should have been provided in a cleaned room (once for towels, once for the complementary mini fridge restock, once to collect garbage, once for our bed be made and they said they are unable to do that. When they brought us items for the mini fridge it was less than the previous night and the employee just handed them to us at the door for us to stock ourselves. As an apology for our inconvenience they offered us a 30$ bar tab or room service at 10:30pm on our last night, leaving very little time to actually use the credit. The absolute topper was that the following morning someone entered our room early, without knocking and turned on the lights..AND DIDN'T TURN THEM BACK OFF. When I brought up my total dissatisfaction the management seemed to want to pass the blame rather than solve the problem. It wasn't the end of the world that our room wasn't cleaned but the lack of service after the fact was a joke for a hotel of this price and rating. I would not recommend this hotel.

The Royal Horseguards is ideally located square in the middle of London. Looking out the window, the London Eye sits right across the Thames River. Many other fun attractions like Big Ben and Trafalgar Square are within walking distance. The room is exceptional with everything one could want: comfortable bed, spacious bathroom with both shower and tub, and more nice furniture. The service is fantastic - these people really go above and beyond. Every individual is kind and helpful to the greatest extent and it's been a pleasure to stay at their hotel. 10 out of 10, would recommend to a friend

I took family from out of town to have a traditional afternoon tea One Twenty One Two. The service was amazing! After finishing our tea, we asked the manager if we could visit the banquet hall, and she ended up going above and beyond giving us a tour of the building. We saw the cellar where they keep all the champagnes and drinks, and, during World War II, provided a safe a safe place for people to hide. It also linked to the underground path that members of Parliament used to move around London safely. We saw the great banquet hall which was just stunning. The tea and the food were fine. It is a very traditional tea experience. There were many moms with their daughters there because they have a children's afternoon tea option. That was really cute to see! I highly recommend their house tea blend. If come to have tea here, ask for a tour of the building. I am sure they will give it to you, if the keys are available to the rooms and if there are no major events happening in the banquet hall.

A ROOM WITH NO VIEW.

A ROOM WITH NO VIEW.
Please be aware that some of the rooms at the Royal Horse Guards Hotel have a view of a Brick Shaft. Their web site photos give the impression that you are going to have a good outlook. This is not the case with Room 404 ( I would assume the same brick shaft view for all floors with rooms ending in 04 ).
If your paying to stay in a 5 Star Hotel, most people would expect to see the sky or some form of outside view.
If you book a Theatre ticket, the Theatre will inform you if the seat has a restricted view prior to your purchase.
If you book a Cruise, you can choose if you wish to have a cheaper cabin with no window or a more expensive cabin with a window and view.

The Royal Horse Guards Hotel should have a warning that some of their rooms do not have a view.
The Staff were very welcoming and helpful and the afternoon tea was really nice. That is why 2 stars instead of 1 star.
The chances are you will get a room with a view, but make sure you ask the receptionist if the room has a view or not?

Very traditional looking hotel right in the centre of London. I went here for the post marathon event, which was very well organised. The staff are very professional and polite, it has a very English feel. I didn't go into any of the rooms but I was told by the runners that it was very nice, there is free WiFi in the hotel and toilets for none staying guests. I'm not aware of any lifts so stairs may be an issue for some.

I came to London for a short period to follow up some personal matter. This is my first time to stay here and I am planning to stay here if any in future.
This is one for the few real hotels in London. Walking distance from the Trafalgar square, Leicester Square and Piccadilly. Also walking distance from most of the musical theaters. On the same time, the hotel is located in a fancy and quite locality.
Very safe locality.
It has fancy restaurant
Large cozy rooms with comfortable queen size bed
Large bathroom with Jacuzzi
Super server
Wonderful professional and expert staff
Great facility

London was our final destination after having been...

London was our final destination after having been in 3 other countries on our 2 week trip. I felt the check in was the least welcoming of the 4 countries we had visited. It was a long day for us to get here since our direct flight was cancelled and we had to be put on 2 unscheduled planes to get here. It would have been nice to have a smiling face at the desk when we arrived rather being told that they were fully booked so don't ask to change rooms. We never even mentioned anything about a room change so I have no idea how the subject came up but needless to say we did not feel it was a warm welcome. Having never been to London we figured this is just the British way. We learned we were wrong about that because the doorman Jason was so nice and friendly as was most of the staff in the breakfast room as well as other staff members within the building.
The room was nice and clean but a little tight for us. There was no coffee machine in our room, however our friends staying there had a coffee machine in their room.
One day we requested fresh towels at the front desk but the towels never came. We tried to call the front desk twice but no one answered the phone so we gave up.
Our room was just over the bar area so we heard music blasting that we could not drown out even with our TV on.
We had a lovely view of the garden outside.
It was so nice to have a full complimentary mini bar with drinks but we had no snacks provided as others mentioned.
The bed was fine but we found the pillows to be quite flat.
We were over charged on our bill when we checked out so make sure to check your bill. We were charged for the breakfast which was supposed to be included with our room. We were able to straighten that out.
They have a lovely lobby, a wonderful breakfast and a tea room.
I would say the worst part of the whole stay for me was when I decided to go to the tea area for some simple tea and a sever told me to go sit out in the lobby. She gave me a menu and disappeared for about 15 minutes or more. Frustrated I left but decided to come back and give her another chance. I came back and told her I did not want to sit in the lobby or have to wait. There was only 1 table occupied in the tea room at the time so she agreed I could sit in the room but she was busy cleaning tables and I would have to wait. Wait for a simple cup of tea? I sat there for 10 minutes and when I saw she would rather clean tables so more people could come in, I said nothing but just got up and left disappointed and went to another nice hotel nearby where we weren't staying and they were more than happy to serve me.
So the good part of this hotel was the great location, the wonderful breakfast and staff at the breakfast. The charming and friendly doorman Jason. The complementary mini bar.
The bad was some staff members lacking in service such as not welcoming us upon arrival, not bringing towels as promised, making me sit and wait for a cup of tea until it was convenient for them and over charging us on our bill. Also, the loud music below from the bar.

Great hotel of fine English style with huge beds and everything that goes with it. Choice of TV channels manageable, but to watch the TV you do not usually book in such a hotel .
All sights are within walking distance.

Very nice hotel and great service. It feels a little old designed but was very comfortable.
I liked it a lot that the minibar is free everyday and they fill it up each day with drinks and chips.
They also had no problem for late checkout with no charge!
Recommended!!

Beautiful hotel. Visited for afternoon tea. Just before Christmas so it was extremely busy. It felt like there wasn't enough staff because everyone was running around and dropping things. Didn't feel like the best service. The afternoon tea was nice, nothing special and was quite expensive too. Probably won't go back.

My 5 year old daughter and I adore the afternoon tea here at the Royal Horseguards. The staff are ever so attentive, and accommodating. Vegan afternoon tea is delicious and my daughter always enjoys her mini afternoon tea. The atmosphere is warm, calming, relaxing and very pretty indeed. Food and drink is presented excellently every time we have been, we cannot fault the service in any way. The price is also reasonable. Thank you.
