Fascinating historical cultural and political place to explore
Beautiful place and great service.the afternoon tea is really tasty.will definitely recommend it
Afternoon tea and service is great, use a groupon for the tea
Beautiful hotel in a perfect location with fantastic views over the Thames. Staff were very helpful and friendly. There was a nice relaxing atmosphere throughout the hotel. Our room was a little noisy due to roadworks the original windows weren't the best at keeping the noise out. Buffet breakfast had a very good selection the bar area was nice. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel.
Terrible afternoon tea with very low quality absence of refinement
My husband and I booked this hotel to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We noted this on our reservation form and we were pleased to discover that upon arrival we had been upgraded. From reading other reviews and listening to other guests check in however, it would seem that such an "upgrade" is par for the course.
We mentioned our anniversary during the course of our check in and were advised that a "special surprise" had already been arranged for us and that it would be delivered to our room between 12 and 3 that day.
Our room itself was lovely and spacious and we were very pleased with it. As we were going out for the afternoon, my husband advised staff that we would not be in the room when the item arrived. He was told not to worry and staff even hinted that the items would be along the lines of champagne and chocolates.
Upon our return to the hotel in the late afternoon, we noted that we had not had any items delivered to the room. We were still enjoying our stay and did not wish to spoil our weekend, so we carried on with our evening plans, which included a show at a local theater. Upon our return to our room that evening, we were disappointed to discover that no items had been delivered as promised by two different members of staff.
However, what we did discover in our mini bar was a bottle of larger and a half consumed mini bottle of red wine. We were flabbergasted to say the least. It was beyond our comprehension that someone could drink some wine and then place it in our bar. It was rude and insulting.
In the bathroom, I was even more puzzled to find that a wet wash cloth and a dry wash cloth had been removed, as well as a bar of soap. My husband took the half finished bottle of wine to Reception and staff there appeared to be shocked and sympathetic. The opened wine was not replaced by an untouched bottle.
After this rather surreal experience, I have to admit that I checked my belongings in the room. Nothing thankfully, was missing, but the fact that I felt the need to do this has troubled me. We paid to stay in a five star hotel and yet the rather odd experiences of the turn down service, left me feeling as though our privacy ( and mini bar) had been violated.
Upon check out we spoke to a member of staff and advised her of the wine and missing items. Again, our explanations were met with shock. We were asked for our email address, but all we have received via email is a standard feedback form.
When we collected our cases later that day, we spoke with yet another member of staff, who after having displayed the now usual shock and sympathy, advised us that she had sent a bottle of wine up to our room on the Saturday evening.
We assured her that it had not arrived with us. No doubt it had been enjoying the company of our missing soap, wash cloths and half mini bottle of wine.
This was sadly not the luxury experience we had had hoped for . Looking back at reviews from June and September of this year, I can see that broken promises (your gift will be sent to your room) and missing wash cloths are the norm. Despite comments on TripAdvisor from the hotel, that staff will be spoken to and lessons will be learned, there was nothing about our stay to suggest that these comments are nothing more than platitudes from an employee who has no real interest in the happiness of customers who have long since left the hotel.
As they say; actions speak louder than words. Perhaps the Management should really check their turn down service and ensure that promises are kept by staff. I am sorry to say that we will not return to the hotel. My suggestion would be that finally someone in authority does take on board the comments from those of us who have been disappointed and ensure that future guest truly do receive a magical and pleasurable experience at the hotel.
Nice hotel. Very convenient location as I had a function at the Abbey. Nice room. Not perfect as Guoman never seem to design their bathrooms properly.
Great location near the river and close to the tube nearby. Good service and nice rooms. If you like the historic touch this is definetely the place to go. It definetely feels to be in London.
Good food, great service, very unique cocktails, just a bit too pricey on the cocktails though.
Lovely clean room, comfy bed, attentive staff, fabulous breakfast!
Perfect location, the staff were helpful, the restaurant food is good
Normally the team would get five stars but they didn't quite get it right this time. We booked on a package with the hotel but kept getting questioned over aspects of the package. In the end it did rather take the shine off our weekend as the repeated questioning made us feel we were deemed less worthy especially when we kept getting asked if we were Groupon clients. They said they would offer us a better deal next time we booked but we would have been much happier with free bubbly with our afternoon tea (which they knew we had booked) or even a free afternoon tea than an unspecified good deal on a prospective future visit.
To be completely fair, many of the staff were very attentive and helpful but the administration of the package led to us being very disappointed in the hotel which has never happened before.
We had the present of The Afternoon tea as a gift for Christmas. We also wanted to see Tina Turner the musical, so stayed overnight. Staff from meeting the friendly doorman throughout the hotel so helpful and friendly. Hotel so welcoming and comfortable, food delicious tea gorgeous and a very appetizing breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
You get a royal feeling when in the hotel. Overall, it was ok. Staff was the only problem for us. Lady who checked us in wasnt pleqsant and gave a room on the first floor with a blocked view although we paid for the views. Shower was bad. We even asked her about views and she told us that it was a really good room. Manager fixed it but took us the pain to move all our items, it was our first stay of the euopean trip.
New room was comfortable, much better and large. Manager was nice. Staff was couteous. Next James bond movie shotting was going on there.
What an amazing hotel the staff were brilliant the manager was fantastic. location is the best you can have to see all the hot spots we stayed in the tower suit it was fantastic definitely be back again.
We booked through Costco and everything was wonderful. Our booking included a complimentary bottle of wine and everything in the mini bar was complimentary as well. Our room overlooked the river and the London Eye. The floors in the bathroom are heated which feels great on cold mornings. With our booking we also got a free buffet style English breakfast each morning. Everybody was very accommodating. Very closely located to Trafalgar square and quick access to the soonest.10/10 would stay there again.
It really lives up to the five star stamp it has. Great service.
Good location, very clean and upscale, service is solid, still affordable and the breakfast at the hotel was excellent...great place to stay for the corporate traveler...
The Royal Horseguards is just a fantastic hotel located at one of the best location of London.
You can easily walk to the most popular places of London like Covert Garden, Big Ben, Westminster Palace, Soho or just to take the tube from the nearest station - Embankment.
The crew is very friendly and welcoming, and helped us to solve a minor issue in our room in less then few minutes.
Great location and spectacular views. Very easily accessible by public transport. Staff is quite friendly and venue has all essentials.
Loved my stay here! The location is perfect, the ambience fantastic, the staff friendly and helpful and the breakfast... oh the breakfast. I'm a big fan of English breakfast and I'm usually impressed when there's any smoked fish included, but on certain days there were up to five types of fish. Heaven!
If I've got the option, and preferably if work is covering the stay, if be back here in a heartbeat!
A magnificent hotel especially for the kindness and professionalism of its staff
Beautiful hotel with very good service. Fantastic location and wonderful views from our river facing room overlooking the Thames and London Eye. Only negative is the noise from the traffic was quite loud even though we were on floor 7! Woke us up a couple of times but the comfy bed and dark room meant that we found it easy yo go back to sleep quickly. We look forward to our next stay.
Absolutely stunning! I would recommend for a quiet evening meal or drinks for 2, or even with friends. Very classy and polite staff members.
This is my first time in London and also first time for the afternoon tea so maybe I have no any other experience to compare but this place was nice. The tea room was not too crowded. Anyway, it would be better if you book the table in advance. (You can book the table online.) The tea was good. I really love the Strawberry and Cream tea. The sandwiches was very tasty as well but the desserts was too sweet for me.
A beautiful hotel with friendly and approachable staff. A large restaurant and lounge area are available, serving tasty food. A small bar and a quiet room is adjacent. Bedrooms are large, deluxe double, with complimentary mini bar, clean bathroom and very comfy beds. Porters are very helpful and knowledgeable. Payment and currency conversion available. Within 10 minutes walk of Trafalgar Square, 5 minutes from the River Thames.
Went for afternoon tea. Staff were very nice and the food was delicious.
Booked a dinner reservation the other day from Groupon. The service was excellent; very informative, friendly and welcoming staff and the food was delicious and well presented. Would recommend!
It was nice but not as convenient as I expected. Rooms were a bit odd shaped and I got a view of an air shaft. Window latch was broken when I arrived. Reported it, still broken when I left. Safe had to be replaced as it didn't work either.
Th location was easy and straightforward to get to from Embankment station, only a couple of minutes walk. Once at the hotel we were greeted warmly. The hotel is beautiful and tastefully decorated. We had a wonderful time. Thank you.
Beautiful location.
Service lacked due to some staff unaccustomed to 4 or 5 star service. Food was good even though layout of hotel made for odd seating and availability of the same services.
Nice building. Average high tea. Struggled to get the attention of any waitress for a tea refill.. Literally tried waving on and off for about 5 minutes before they finally checked the whole room and saw us. Not impressed by the service.
Good room but don't bother with the Equus Cocktail Bar. Lighting too bright. Music too loud. Some of the music so awful that I wondered if they put it on to get rid of us. Ordered Bollinger but they then told us they didnt have any. Children allowed in late. And to top it all a phantom cocktail that we hadn't ordered had found it's way onto our bill! Not good. Better described as a Brewers Fayre pub.
Loved it, great staff and some lovely food. Purchased the afternoon tea via groupon and was very impressed. Parking however if driving an issue
Very good services, very clean, high quality furniture and amenities.
Atmosphere was nice and quiet Food was great, especially with the sandwiches and crayfish rolls Scones weren't bad but perhaps a bit tiny in terms of size, comparing to afternoon teas from elsewhere in London. I had sapphire earl grey tea which helped me to relax after a very tiring and stressful week
I ve stayed here about four to five times on my trips to London. It s a spotlessly clean hotel with first class service, and great food. My favorite place is their garden, it s really pretty and a good place to relax.
This hotel is excellent!! The service, the decor and THE LOCATION is hands down the best. You are walking distance to Trafalgar Square and Picadilly Circus. You are also right near two metro stops: Charing Cross and Embankment Station. The breakfast was excellent and they have afternoon tea so you can just have at the hotel. Rooms are very spacious!! I would stay here again in a minute.
The food was OK, but not amazing, service was a little lacking
Grand . Stylish . Maintaining good practices and courteous manners , with excellence throughout.
Absolutely beautiful! Excelleny service and so well taken care of! Bathroom had heated floors which was so lovely. No parking anywhere so good luck, but definitely worth a trip to stay here!
Very positive experience and friendly staff especially restaurant supervisor Jagoda working very hard and always smile on her face. Will definitely come back.
Friendly, helpful, accommodating. Great location and value. Room furniture is a little outdated but no less comfortable!
Spectacular hotel located right on the banks of the Thames a few minutes walk from the London Eye, Parliament, Westminster and Trafalgar Square. Classically decorated but modern in details: WI-FI, adjustable light, ipod deck ... The lobby is beautiful: a large living room with fireplace on, velvet sofas, dark furniture, fresh flowers and candles. Customer service is very attentive, friendly and professional. Everything they offer is of excellent quality. Every detail is designed to make your stay perfect. One of the nicest hotels I've been.

Perfect Hotel very nice and confortable. I love the TV in the bathroom!
I was there for a dinner at the terrace. The food was very tasty, the service very nice, bathrooms clean. I strongly recommend.
Beautiful, welcoming, sophisticated...and more. I like this Hotel, it is close to Thames and embankment. I visided several times and I think is one of the London's most glamourous hotel.
The Royal Horseguards is a perfect venue for important and memorable events. It is one of the London's most glamourous hotel.
For a 5 stars hotel rooms bit outdated..nice outdoor restaurant space
Great spot for drinks and al fresco dining, still slightly unknown and not too busy.
Amazing place to stay. Staff extremely friendly and food delicious.
Beautiful hotel in the heart of London. Rooms magnificent and very expert and attentive staff. Ample space and comfort are two adjectives present in every room.
A very nice hotel, close to the London embankment train station. Welcoming staff, old decor with large high ceiling rooms. Good for hosting events.
Breakfast was eloquent to say the least.
Quaint decor and outstanding attention to detail make this place a luxurious architectural haven for enthusiasts alike!
Nice relaxed atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff. Afternoon tea included non- stop tea and sandwiches. My only disappointment was the scones we're mini scones, and not as nice as proper scones; that needs to be changed. The breakfast tea was full of flavour without being bitter.
Went for company Christmas dinner and it is such a lovely and magnificent hotel. You can see London eye, shard and other buildings. The staff are very nice and friendly. You also get free Wi-Fi as well.
