Lovely, quiet, understated hotel but very nice and comfortable. Great for afternoon tea, lunch dinner or just a drink
We celebrated our 40th Ruby Wedding Anniversary yesterday, with a Champagne afternoon tea here was outstanding, delicious and filling!
Great Champagne, beautiful sandwiches and assorted cakes, all served in an opulent lounge with courteous & caring staff. A very elegant hotel with a relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.
Great rooms, feels luxurious. Outdated tech in the rooms though, only thing that took a star off
Everything is spot on with the horseguards, warm and friendly service, luxurious touches everywhere, beautiful rooms and a brilliant location.
Great retreat from the hustle and bustle of westminster. Lovely tea and food.
Forever favourite.
Amazing place, outstanding customer service.
Highly recommended all year around.
Fantastic rooms in the heart of London. Incredible views of the river Thames and the Southbank.
Great stay all around. Small rooms, but that is part of the charm.
Fantastic stay in truly one of the best hotels I ve ever stayed in The staff are very professional and made me feel very welcome. Have to say a big thank you to staff member Leon as he was very helpful always made me feel Very comfortable Would definitely visit again great service 10/10
Gluten free scones were extremely small and hard as rock and the tea arrived after a while we started to eat, overall the service was ok and the food was good. Went there with a Groupon offer, probably not worth to go for full price. For the first time ever we've been asked to pay separately the service charge despite we used a promotion, I've never heard of this before.
A remarkable library room upstairs. The sweeping marble staircase is especially notable.
Excellent stay, luxurious presentation, friendly staff. Room was clean, big and serviced properly. Restaurant was a bit pricy and of lesser quality than expected due to the precedent set by hotel quality and style. Would stay again.
Nice but expensive place to stay with a really unique interior. the breakfast was unfortunately not included. Rooms were a bit chilly. perfect location.
Really swanky with super friendly staff and a spacious, opulent public area to sit in for drinks. Well organised and sharp staff, great place for a meeting.
Went here for a special occasion for a meal. Didn't stay at the hotel. Only visited the restaurant. Meal was really nice. But slightly small portions.
However a lovely place and will go again.
High Tea was wonderful. The service from the entrance to the restaurant was impeccable.
Awesome place. Business trip with a great location (not loud) ...close to parliament.
Had a lovely afternoon tea with a friend. Even if we had to wait almost 30 minutes to receive tea pots and tea sets the service was excellent. Very relaxed atmosphere no pressure to leave. The lady who was in charge of the AT area was brilliant!
Location is definitely the best thing about this hotel. Trafalgar square, London eye, Buckingham palace are all within walking distance. Check-in process is more like a 4-star hotel, e.g., no one accompanied us to our room, person at counter spent a couple of minutes on the phone before helping us. The room was dated with no view. Leaky faucet, missing cover plates - definitely not what you expect at a 5-star hotel. The room was big though by London standards. They really push the breakfast, which actually has quite an underwhelming selection especially by US standards. Nobody told us about the afternoon tea, otherwise we would have tried it. All in all, we will probably pick a different hotel next time.
Enjoyed a very relaxed three course lunch...very nice.
Historic building located in the heart of London. Embankment. Walking distance to Houses of Parliament and the Big Ben.
Hotel is old fashioned. Standard rooms are not very big. My room offered 2 scenarios of lights: mood and bed. It was cold in the room, so heated floors in the bathroom help. Air-conditioning is loud, but works. My windows were facing inner yard and felt more like prison.
There was a TV in the bathroom, but didn't work.
No power outlets by the bed or you need crawl on the floor and unplug the lamp.
I had an issue with double booking and didn't like the way they handled the situation. Not resolved yet. Charged at maximum ridiculous rates.
Will update once settled.
Really lovely food and classic British hotel. Only down one star for atmosphere
The royal horseguards restaurants is a very nice place to spend time for a dinner. We had a 4 course menu and it was fantastic. Very handsome and friendly personal. Thanks for a very nice evening.
The Location is walking distance to EVERYTHING. And it right next to the tube station. Utterly fantastic location. Great service. And the rooms were great. Multiple outlet types, heated bathroom floors, TV's in the bathroom.
The hotel is very dated and our room wasn t in best shape. (One could see the holes in the walls for old reparations). But the staff is super friendly and helpful, the location is amazing. Breakfast was nice. All in all we did have a really nice experience in this hotel.
This building is stunning. The art and architecture is a joy to experience and the views from the upper floors an added bonus. The books in the main hall make it a little like stepping into the library in Beauty and the Beast!
My new favorite hotel in London. It's perfect. The location couldn't be better and the decor feels so London England. The rooms are beautiful. Get a room with a river view. Spectacular.
Great service and probably the best location I could've asked for for a week in London seeing the sights!
Loved this hotel with its view of the London Eye and the River Thames. Great location for visiting London and walking round the city and the sights. Rooms are very comfortable but beds are only doubles so if you like a king size bed make sure you ask for one when you make your reservation as the rooms with a view do not have big beds.
There is no real bar to sit and have a drink which is the only downside but breakfast was plentiful with a large selection of hot and cold food.
Lovely hotel, clean staff very friendly , breakfast very nice but needed to be hotter
Have stayed here numerous times. Central location for London access. Convenient to west end theatres.
Had to move our reservation back half an hour and they were professional about it. The tea and pastries were great.
Very nice period hotel. The staff were really helpful. We had our office Christmas party there and it was very good. Good food and nice wine. Great ambience. Would recommend.
Beautiful hotel. We were in the sumptuous Library suite. Beautiful lounge with the free mini bar, coffee maker, settees, writing desk and huge choice of Lipton's tea. Also beautiful flowering orchids! Cannot recommend rooms, decoration, attention to detail, staff or food enough
Cosy rooms, friendly staff and excellent service. 5 mins from Embankment station which is on the district and circle, bakerloo and northern lines. Tasty breakfast spread. Get a room with a River view..if only the balcony door opened so you could stand outside and take in the view!
excellent service, some rooms are extremely small, luckily they upgraded us.
You can get close but they will not answer questions! Beautiful display of British tradition.
Amazing tea. Thank you for the gluten free options.
We reserved a room for a special occasion and the hotel was great. The room had a beautiful river view of the London Eye
The overall stay was good with the service staff being friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The location is excellent, especially being very near the Embankment tube station and several tourist destinations. The hotel however is a little dated and not maintained well enough to still be considered a 5 star hotel. The fixtures in the bathroom were definitely showing their age and were not well cleaned as the sink faucet was rubbed down to the metal under the finish and the rainfall shower head was spraying in 15 other directions than just down (too much calcium build up in the head). The "king" bed consisted of two twin beds pushed together. I normally don't have a problem with this, however the beds were on wheels so if you got close to the gap between them the beds would push away from each other. We originally entered through the bar/restaurant entrance as this door is much more well marked (overhang and flags with hotel name) than the actual entrance (just the name above the door).
Traditional, historic, very beautiful place, good service and food
Very nice area, but very busy, and a lot of traffic.
On Thames riverbank. Riverview and garden rooms have lovely view of London Eye,Shard and City. Convenient for Charing Cross station and Embankment underground both located nearby. Rooms well appointed on the luxury side. Reception and restaurant service exemplary.
High class traditional hotel with very welcoming staff and service nothing is to much trouble, position of the hotel is perfect for all the west end shows and lots of history sightseeing, taxis are outside the hotel if needed visit this hotel every Christmas.
Only stayed a night at the hotel, not very imposing from the front, but just wait till you enter. Doorman will show you in to the beautiful reception/ lounge area with huge chandeliers and just keeps getting better. Further into the lounge area with ambient harp music being played live. With afternoon teas being served in an adjacent room. A historic building which sympathetically decorated to a very high standard throughout. Beds are very comfy (evening turndown service), and rooms are quiet due to location next to its own gardens/park. Did not have breakfast so can't comment
Extremely attentive staff. Definitely a first-class hotel in the hearth of London
I've been coming here for years and am only giving it 4 stars because it's not what it used to be, but it's still a great hotel option. The central: location is great for sightseeing and shows, walking distance to lots of tube and bus options, it has historic charm, incredible views from river rooms (worth the cost), good breakfast buffet. The parts that could be better: the rooms can bit a little warn around the edges (think the last renovation was early 2000s), the staff are sometimes cold and clinical, the amenities are not as comprehensive as they were 5 years ago, the bar/restaurant (outside of breakfast) are disappointing. Overall I'd say if it's in your price range and are visiting London for holiday, this place is great. Get a river-view room and inclusive breakfast for a very authentic and historic London experience.
The hotel is in a great location and the next tube is only 3 minutes away. You live "sovereign" in the old building - depending on the price, the view is better (higher floor or Thames-view incl. London Eye). Breakfast is ok. Very good service and the afternoon tea very recommendable!
Good favility in the Heart of London but lack or not enough Parking space ...got a parking ticket while I waited for Guest to come and see me ...bad luck ...
Amazing hotel with excellent customer service especially Simona , she was very helpful and cheerful to us. And the concierge staff was wonderful too.
Excellent reception service as usual but bar and breakfast not 5* standard
Great hotel with classic decor but also well technological
Few things that could have been better (cold breakfast). Had to ask for soap etc. in room, But staff were all lovely and it is in a great location.
Get a room with City view, great location, easy tube access and walking to nearby Central London.
Best of London hotels. Great central location and obliging staff
The most exquisite city break. Me and my girlfriend came here for our anniversary and it was so relaxing. We had a room right in front of the London eye. The rooms and staff were exceptional. I will be coming here every time I visit London.
This is a quality hotel a stones throw from Trafalgar Square and Charing Cross. We only visited for pre-dinner drinks, followed by dinner in the restaurant. What we had was excellent, but their enviable location is reflected in their prices. An ideal venue for an evening out. I offer no comment on their full hotel facilities as we did not stay there.
Very posh hotel, very well groomed and polite staff, well worth popping in and enjoying this lovely historic hotel. Also has some large conference rooms that are very spacious.
