Glenroyal Hotel & Leisure Club Review

I haven t gotten there yet and am already disappointed with the service of this hotel. I will be traveling for more than 30 hours from literally the other end of the globe, and my flight arrives in the morning. Understandably, I will be exhausted, and wrote in advance to request an early checkin. Denied. But, I can leave my bags. Where is one supposed to go with no place to rest, recover from a grueling journey, bathe, etc? After trying to explain, I was told that I could checkin early. BUT, I will have to pay a full night s rate. I agreed, since I would have no place else to go, but charging a full night s rate to book in on the same day but just a few hours earlier is quite unfair. In any case, it has already given me an impression of what to expect when I get there. From other reviews I have seen that others were allowed early check in, so what gives...?

Nice place. Good gym (if a bit crowded), two pools. Roomy room.

Lousy configuration of power sockets.

Restaurant a bit overpriced.

Good wifi.

Under construction at present. Just had drinks, sat in reception.

Stayed here several times and have had no issues. Always busy when I'm there in June.

Hotel was lovely . Rooms were in need off a update. The beds were so Uncomfortable no aircon in the rooms . The staff were so rude to the kids. I won t be staying in this hotel again

Parking is awful - lots of spaces but very very busy and the super market workers are very aggressive against parking close to it

Had a girls night away here for one night. The hotel is modern and clean and staff were friendly. The only thing that lets it down is the location, it's in the car park of a supervalu basically so if you're looking for somewhere with nice scenery, you probably wouldn't like it. Check in took a while as they had wedding and other functions on so it was delayed but we didn't mind too much and had some coffee and cake in their cafe, which is massive and coffee and cake were lovely. Had a massage as part of a package which was nice but there seemed to be an argument going on in the reception area beside the treatment room between the staff and a customer in regards to a missed appointment and I think they probably should have asked them to move it outside to not disturb the other customers as it was far from relaxing! The food in the restaurant as part of the package was really nice. Staff were very helpful and friendly and delicious cocktails. The only thing that let it down was the desert, wasn't great but breakfast was lovely and had a nice large selection. Would return for the same kind of break with my mates but not somewhere I would go for a romantic break or with my kids as not much to do in the area and not very pretty setting. All in all was perfect for what we were looking for.

From we arrived for our overnight stay we had a warm welcome and excellent meals .Definitely will return.

G value g food v comfortable bed v clean vg power shower thermostat in bedroom helped in a great night's sleep

Hotel's appearance is really nice. We required a room with accessibility access. It was really spacious, one of the most spacious accessibility rooms I've ever stayed in. The way the room was laid out was a bit...unusual, things on the wrong side etc. But overall really good. Buffet style breakfast is also good.

Room was decent size, good quality, only issue is we were near some generator that was just slightly noisy during the night.

Service was great - staff were excellent. Location also very good close to Maynooth town and uni.

I think hotel did a great job of adapting to social distancing with hand sanitizer throughout the ground floor, and seating spread out more.

Next time I'll be sure to use the leisure facilities - looked amazing.

We visited the hotel in April 2018 and half of the hotel was great, recently refurbished, cozy rooms and comfy beds. Some other rooms were outdated and not nice at all. We had to ask for a change of room as we were given one facing an internal "patio" no larger than 3 sq. meters and the room had no ventilation. The noise of the machinery of the SPA was not nice at all. Worst of all was the musty smell of mould and humidity.

We had to ask for a change in the middle of the night and we were relocated to a very nice and recently refurbished room which compensates the experience. However, the first room should never be used for hosting guests, it was unpleasant and unhealthy.

Breakfast was good and the hotel is conveniently located.

Had a lovely meal there and I found the management and staff there very friendly and helpful.

The gym here is OK but it's really, really expensive if you are just a guest. 15 euro for one session and you have to attend with a member. As I am only in the area once every few weeks I can't get full membership, it'd be nice to be a bit more reasonable to those just visiting.

We were here for a Comedy gig, the place was very clean and cosy, the staff were friendly and there was a relaxed atmosphere. The place seemed busy but not packed. It is right in the centre of Maynooth which is very handy.

Room on non updated side beds are hard asked for better room was given another room same floor same area ..same results ,the heat in the room becomes very hot at midnight no way to control or cool off, pillows are flat all of them very uncomfortable ...couldn't sleep ,Breakfast is pretty good but tried Dinner and not very good average and selection very small. I would not stay here unless you get a newer room ,maids where the most helpful old rooms are very dated to say the least TV are tiny ! I didn't book this it was for Business travel but will be requesting a new place for sure ,One plus side is its close to Village and tehre are good places to dine .

Seems to be a nice hotel. I was there only for a conference. Coffe and croissants were nice.

Was staying in hotel for 2 nights as I was attending a course there, in mid-December 2017.
My first time there but didn't get to use spa/leisure facilities although they looked fabulous.
The rooms for the course were excellent.
Among the best I have been in.
Coffee breaks arrived bang on time.
Very professional. Although building/renovation work was going on I was never really conscious of it.

One of the best hotels in the world I would definitely go there again

Good venue for business meetings lunch provided was ok to good. Problems are the traffic leaving the venue

Leisure centre is top notch. 2 pools, loads of equipment, spacious changing rooms.

This is a beautiful hotel that we used for our conference reception and dinner. Very convenient location near bus to airport and Dublin. The downside? While the quality of good was good to excellent, the service was very poor. Even though we confirmed the tone of the reception the day before, it was not ready on time. Then, the dinner for 30 people was a disaster. It took over three hours to get our meals. Fortunately my group was good humored but as the organizer, I ll regrettably never use this hotel again for catering. There was no apology or even explanation.

This place has recently had a refurbishment which is very nice. The bar is a very pleasurable space to relax.
The single room i booked had a double bed but i think if two people were given this room although a very pleasant room it is quite small.
The breakfast and resturant were very nice with a nice evening meal menu. Not too big a choice but seemed just right compared to other hotels i have stayed recently.
Over all a pleasant hotel i would recommend.

Attended a new year's eve ball at the Glen royal hotel,very nice hotel,friendly staff,food could of been better and the pint a bit bit cheaper but overall a good experience

Very good food. A tastefully decorated place. Prices quite affordable. I also recommend because of the atmosphere.

Nice comfortable hotel with a cool bar and lovely little cafe, the rooms are clean and comfortable but could do with some net curtains, excellent staff and genuine friendly service.

Stayed in this hotel in Jan and was very pleased with the hotel and service, unfortunately had problems with shower and had burned myself, we had complained about it and the girl at reception was very nice and said she would sort it out, as we had decided to stay there again for the weekend just gone we were upgraded to a beautiful room and had breakfast thrown in, I have to commend the staff at glen royal there customer care was fantastic and especially have to mention Cesar who worked at the restaurant made us feel very welcome and was so friendly and delivered a fantastic service. I would highly recommend this hotel to people and will stay here again in the future.

Friendly and professional staff - rooms clean and the room I had was spacious and had a bath. The breakfast selection is very good and quality of food is excellent. Has a liesure centre and a very good swimming pool.

If you are looking for a good place, this is not the place. If you are looking for cheap, maybe.
Staff doesn't feel prepared or knowledgeable. Very inflexible as well, we asked for a free late check out and they only provided very limited time even though it was sunday with loads of rooms available (the site allowed to book more than 20 rooms)
Rooms are just ok.
Cleaning staff likes to bang doors, a lot. Very disrespectful to guests.
To make things worse, we called in ahead of time to ask if the hotel had an electric car charger and they said yes. Big lie. Tesco nearby has one, not the hotel. Hardly an option when you arrive at 2am (they knew) and have to walk around for 15 mins.

OK but not really good value for money. Room delivery is not free and separately charged. Rooms are clean but look dated.

Absolutely fabulous place to relax and enjoy a break. The leisure centre is a major plus. Staff are super and so helpful.

I use the swimming pool for daily exercise and enjoy it. Post Covid they only allow 15 in at a time and must be pre-booked to allow clean-up in between

Beds are very small (I use this hotel several times, but because the bed in the room is small every time, it seems that there is only such a small bed, not only such a room but only by chance)
At the time of breakfast, Asians tend not to come to listen to drinks.
It is too late to bring coffee or tea even if you come to ask. Sometimes I forget it.
