I love this Dam, there is SO MUCH to learn about this region and the history around it, just don't take it from the visitors center. Rather, read books like Grand Canyon Expedition by John Wesley Powell.

Very helpful rangers who will give you all sorts of ideas and precautions on hiking trails. Come by before you set out on your adventures. Also lots of information on how Dams work. Great views of the dam itself as well.

Stop by Horseshoe Bend, preferably in the late afternoon/close to sunset. That way, you won't get the shadow of the rim in your shot (like I did when I went in the morning)! And get there early, because the parking lot fills up quick!

With millions of visitors to the recreation area each year, it is inevitable that vandals will deface the rock faces of the canyon. Glen Canyon NRA has implemented a voluntourism program wherein volunteers sign up for a five-day houseboat trip during which they help remove graffiti from the canyon walls. (Graffiti Removal and Intervention Team - GRIT)

Unique place and lots to do and take in. Skipped antelope canyon and horseshoe bend and saw plenty of things just as beautiful without as many people. Great trails to explore for hiking/running

Breathtaking. Really good time for reflection, watching the sunrise, and is just all around beautiful. They built a railing over the main ledge, but there's plenty of other areas that don't have a railing. These photos were taken before dawn around 6am and there was only a small handful of people there. If you go later, you'll have to fight the crowds and tour groups. The trail head is 3/4 of a mile hike through same before it turns into the rocky landscape.

Use extreme caution and don't stand near the edge. It's easy to trip and that's how people fall off and die. The winds were pretty strong when I was there and was worried about walking even when I wasn't on the edge. If you do want an edge photo, use common sense and keep your center of gravity low to the ground. You can't trip and fall off the ledge if you're crawling along the ground.

Very nice place, and it is worth visiting, but you have to know several things, first it is not a free attraction, second in hot weather please bring an umbrella, appropriate shoes for walking, water and sunscreen, because eleven parked the car you have to walk there more or less for 15 to 20 minutes each way, The photos are very nice

Glen and I never spoke, but his canyon is one of the most beautiful things I've ever explored... pause...

For real, the area is just amazing and I highly recommend catching a sunset over Horseshoe Bend.
