A recent renovation programme has spoilled this venue a little, but it nevertheless retains many of its most interesting art deco features. Admittedly some have been submerged below an Ikea-esk veneer, but it is still a charming cinema theatre for all that.

Favourite place in Glasgow. Fantastic Cinema showing all kinds of film. Staff are approachable and know what they're talking about. Shows anything from the latest Disney film(as part of kids club) to a fairly random Icelandic film about a family torn apart by sheep. Also the home of Glasgow Film Festival.

Really quaint cinema in the town centre. Large comfortable seats and the sound isn't quite as deafening as cineworld down the road. Prices are very fair and staff are always helpful. Regularly attend this cinema and I've had no faults yet.

This is one of the best small independent cinemas in Glasgow. If your looking for something different I definitely recommend going. There's a bar if you fancy a drink and the staff are very friendly.

Shows a wide selection of foreign films, classics, documentaries etc that you don't really get in a chain movie theatre.

It's a cosier way to go see a movie, and it just a bit more special than the standard cinema experience these days.

Wonderful film theater, seriously come to this place and support the alternative film world! For all mainstream gobshite there is Netflix for quality film we have the Glasgow Film Theatre. Keep up the good work! The most cinematic work that ever has been created in the history of films was shown here in 2017, for those interested it was called "Mercy's Folly" and it caused such reverberations across the entire film industry that this was its only showing!

Great cinema showing mainstream as well as smaller releases and international titles, some live shows over satellite including overseas concerts and ballet and dance shows, small bar with snacks available, has good seating and a few steps away from Sauchiehall Street

Always an enjoyable way to spend a rainy afternoon. We were there to see Psycho and it did not disappoint.
No popcorn munching and sensible ticket pricing, along with a varied and eclectic programme make GFT one of Glasgow's top attractions for film buffs.
It's also decorated as a cinema should be.

Location, building & staff are qreat - no qualms there, but film presentation can be inconsistent :
Last night saw concert movie 'Stop Making Sense' with a reduced volume soundtrack?
Also if it says 35 mm on the programme notes, beware - it could be the mankiest film print imaginable, as witnessed by watching an unintentionally sepia version of 'Apocalypse Now'.
For the leading independent cinema in Glasgow, it should do better.

I've visited this wonderful cinema for many years. But following refurbishments over the past few years, I now get to access all spaces as the venue has become fully wheelchair accessible.

What can I say, such a beautiful building, wonderfully restored in keeping with the age of the building. Always worth a visit especially at Christmas when they show It's a Wonderful Life.

Even though GFT could be considered rough around the edges, it s the finest cinema Glasgow has to offer- both from a film selection side and customer service side. The whole cinema has a human feel- film projection is done by talented projectionists, ushering and bar staff are friendly and welcoming and programme is curated for its audiences. GFT is an independently run cinema, which supports not only a rarely seen films, analogue film projection and world cinema, but also offers in its programme films that otherwise might not get cinema exhibition (like programmes of short films and experimental film). I would highly recommend visiting this lovely cinema to support its activity and to see a great selection of films.

Went to see The Imitation Game here and it was how I imagine cinemas were in my parents time - very theatre-like feel. Seats were comfortable, but not a huge amount of legroom. It made going to see a film on a short trip to the city that bit different from the usual.
