Wonderful suit shop steeped in rich history and with great staff. I came here to get a quality suit as one of the first things I did on my trip to London and it was such a blast. Daniel served me and he was fantastic, really good recommendations and incredibly knowledgeable. He assisted with some time constraints that I had and went beyond what was necessary. After we had completed the transaction he showed my wife and I though the archive room where they have military uniforms (they have the Royal warrant) all the way back to the battle of Waterloo. Also the suits are fantastic.

I was invited to G&H for an evening event last year and enjoyed it thoroughly. I was given a good walk through the way in which G&H work with their clients and I managed to snap some great photos for a potential blog post. Great quality and very welcoming staff so do pop in to their store if you're around Savile Row.

Contrary to other reports. I came to the store not particularly well dressed- shorts and t shirt all from ASOS.
I was welcomed immediately by a staff member and advised he was with something but I could wait and was offered refreshments.
When served the member of staff Nathan- was helpful, patient and highly skilled.
Suits now been ordered. An afternoon in London truly well spent.

Myself and two other companions went into SavilRow Gieves & Hawks on search of wedding suits.
Upon arrival into the store, we were not greeted or welcomed as previous stores visited for the day. Not offered assistance by any of the store staff, who were huddled in the middle of the shop having a casual conversation and clearly saw my friends an I slightly unsure of the stores layout.

I felt embarrassed having to politely interject the conversation of the sales assistants by stating 'I was extremely sorry to disturb but if you're not too busy, could you offer up some help for me and my friends'.
The female assistant reluctantly replied in a very hostile manner by asking 'what did I want?' Stating we were looking for Summer tuxedos which we knew from other stores are available but maybe in limited supply due to the time of the year, the female sales assistant posed a puzzled look and shrugged saying 'I've haven't heard of that, all we have is here'.

Seeing her unhelpful nature, I apologised further for having to disturb her as she seemed highly annoyed.

Having this being my first time in this establishment, it was a very unpleasant and embarrassing experience.

I had a fairly shocking experience here. I had been looking at the online store and was quite interested in the products on offer. I went to the store and they said the offers were only available online and were circa (70%) off. They did say a sale was starting in store, the day after posting this review at circa 30% off. Ok not unreasonable so far.

It was then made clear because we intended to purchase online we had no rights to test the merchandise in the store. What sort of outrageous, presumptuous, condescending service is that. Words to the effect of you're to poor and not worth our time. Spectacular....

I am most displeased...I see little reason to return there in future with that attitude

Visited this 'flagship' store yesterday with 6 colleagues to select suits for an upcoming wedding - our party comprised the groom and 6 groomsmen. Despite the store being quiet we had zero interest from any member of staff. After 15 minutes waiting we left. Hardly surprising the store was empty even though it was peak time on Saturday afternoon. Disappointing.

Own 6 MTM suits, a few blazers and countless shirts. Quality of construction and actual material is excellent and all are lasting very well.

Suits were cut in Mauritius, which was the only thing that caught me off guard; for the money I had expected them to be done in England.

I used to purchase at Gieves & Hawkes Savile Row flagship store for several years, however recently I was unfortunate enough to encounter being served by an outrageously arrogant and rude sales person. It was a very disappointing experience and below any expectations one may have of any store carrying a royal warrant.

I find it amusing to read all of those 5 star reviews written by the 'Local Guides'. Some of those local guides wrote in excess of 200 reviews... These are the people that get paid to write them, that's why there are so many reviews on their account. Who are you trying to fool Gieves?

Better improve the actual personnel morale in store rather than online presence. After spending 15mins in an empty store and failing to get any attention from your staff my wife and I left not just the store, but Savile Row entirely. Something snobby about this street.

I worked on my suit with the head cutter Davide over a year. The end result was absolutely stunning, more a piece of art than a suit, and captured everything I asked for in its personality and style (and more).

Gieves went through a bad patch a couple of years ago. Spelt my name wrong in a grey made to measure (I am still pretty sore about that) like the low-rent cost cutters they were. But I think they're back. And now Huntsman don't do made to measure / off the peg, G&H are your best off the peg / made to measure bet on the row.

Initially felt very welcomed and put at ease when researching for my friends wedding. Sadly short lived when they saw we had no intention of buying what he tried on as we were still in the researching phase. The care and attention dropped as soon as this was found out.

Such a fabulous shop, the best service ever. My husband would not buy a suit from anywhere else now. He has been wearing Gieves & Hawkes for well over 10 years and must have 12-15 suits. James is particularly fabulous in the customer service department. Thank you all!

Spent the day looking for a silk scarf as i wanted to treat myself. So ended up walking up and down Bond street and then headed to Savile Row. But i didn't realise that most of tailors are closed on a Sunday. So as i got to the end of the street i arrived at Gieves & Hawkes and thought i would give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised to see the new store fit. Very luxurious and tasteful. Not like most the of the stores on Bond street. Don't get me wrong, it was very luxurious but in no way pretentious at all. The staff were pleasant and very accommodating and when they couldn't help me with what i wanted they suggested other places for me to go. Didn't buy anything, but the staff made sure that my store experience was A1. So if you like British tailoring, try G&H.

Stereotyping Customers!!

I went into Gieves & Hawkes yesterday evening after a day at work to get inspiration and look at their range to get a suit for my wedding. Note i was dressed in Jeans shirt jacket and chelsea boots, so was smart.

After walking in the staff greeted me and then after that continued to follow me two steps behind me at all times not saying a word. After clocking the member of staff doing this I went upstairs to see if they would repeat and they did. It was as if they felt like I was going to steal something from the shop. Never had anything quite like it and made me feel stereotyped being a young looking adult. Makes me want to take my business elsewhere for sure!

I recently partied too enthusiastically and one of the front buttons had come off my dinner suit. I wrote to Gieves & Hawkes asking if they might be able to send me a replacement button. Cheekily added "I have a Reeling Ball on Saturday so there is a bit of urgency to this ". MUCH to my delight Olivia replied "You're in luck, we've managed to find a replacement button for you. We'll put it in the post to the address below this week." All with the compliments of G&H, what fantastic service!

I purchased a made to measure suit here that has been worn four times in the past two years.

The fitting service was polite and adequate. The suit quality and service since I'm not so happy with. The trouser seam has split. I emailed Gieves and Hawkes and they said to bring it in to the store and they'll fix it. I traveled 3 hours to get to their store to then be told they wouldn't touch it unless it's freshly dry cleaned first, which I had to do.

I felt insulted as the suit had only been worn four times, was clean and still in the original suit protector it came in. Also, the email did not mention the suit would have to have been freshly dry cleaned.

Picture is of the split seam. I took it on the 3 hour train ride home. What a wasted trip. This was not the quality or service I was expecting.

I went on a private tour of Gieves and Hawkes. This included the history of both companies before they joined forces, who they make uniforms for, their work with Princess Diana and Michael Jackson, the lowdown on made to measure suits including cloth choices and style, and most interesting for me, a talk from the pattern cutters in the bespoke department. I had no idea of the depth of knowledge and experience within the company. Absolutely fascinating.

Tailors with a long history of bespoke design, a fascinating archive room and great service. As many other shops in Savile Row, one can see their basement workshops. Look for their book to learn more about their story.

Salesman was not nice. We came to take a look on suit which was hanging on the hanger. He came over took it from our hands and said its not for sale. Was quite surprising and unexpected. Before saying he just took the hanger with suit out of our hands. Sales team needs training or just go across the road and see how trained employees are in Suitsupply to see the difference.

I visited Gieves and Hawkes to have my Grandfather's medals mounted and the collection of the medals took over 6weeks! I was informed they were to be ready in 2weeks. Furthermore, upon collection, despite being offered refreshment I was disappointed that the staff did not place the medals on my Grandfather's suit! I expected better customer service from a luxury brand, I say this as I am about to read an MA in Luxury Brand Management at Regents University!

Purchased a suit in May. I wore it 10-12 times before the trousers disintegrated. I emailed Gieves and Hawkes who demonstrated no interested in either refunding or replacing, instead providing me with a lecture on not wearing the item daily (which my email said I hadn't done) and hanging it up between wears (which of course I did). Terrible quality product, expensive, and useless customer service.

Good looking, not always well made stuff.

Order of five shirts contained two errors (sent something else), one tie so fraying and damaged I wonder how anyone could even have put it in the box. Add unresponsive customer service and you have a pretty unpromising mix, long-term.

Rather apparent they were bought by the Chinese a few years back.

Ordered some shirts directly from the shop. All of them are of complete cheap quality. "Made in Tunisia", cheap material, plastic buttons that are supposed to like pearl white, crooked stitches. Gieves and Hawkes No. 1 Savile Row...are you serious? Worst parody ever! You should stop trying to cater for the snobs but make quality!
