Georgetown Cupcake seems to be a DC landmark thanks to their TV show, DC Cupcakes. However, I feel like there is way too much hype about them, and thus they are overrated. They are perfectly decent cupcakes, but they are definitely not worth a long wait in line. There's really nothing *that* special or exciting about them. I'm a fan of their daily secret menu, so sometimes if I'm walking by in the morning and there's no line, I'll pop in to see if they still have any free cupcakes left. Everything tastes better when it's free :) I'm also a fan of the fact that you can order online and pick-up in store, so I use this feature when a work colleague has a birthday. Again, there's nothing wrong with Georgetown Cupcake, but I wouldn't recommend waiting in line for them -- you might be disappointed.

Love it

Horrible cupcake...we waited about 40 minutes in line. Entered the store and discovered their microsized cupcakes cost the same as the competition. .. $3.00 each. The staff didnt seem to be in a real big hurry to overcome the line outside and the few flies buzzing around the open display...werent real appealing. Still excited to see what the big line was all about we decided on a dozen as the four of us couldn't decide on just one...and a dozen seemed to be a better deal. WRONG.....the lime cheesecake was warm and nearly like pudding. The other cupcakes were dry and the icing was liked lowfat barely flavored whipcream....I'm doubting they were lowfat. Ultimately we each ate two of of our three out of fear the cupcakes quality would worsen by the evening time. We left truely unsatisfied...so much that as we circled the block on our way back to our hotel...we gave the remaining four cupcakes to a homeless man digging through a trash can....not sure we did him any favors...the cupcakes deserved the TRASH CAN!

On vacation in DC and waited in line to buy these cupcakes. When we got back to our hotel and opened the box we found that the box was placed in the bag upside down! The cupcakes were a mess!!!

A TV DC WASHINGTON TOURIST experience Cupcake-extravangaza. I had never watched the show, but my wife and kids insisted we go over to Georgetown, wait for 45 minutes in the rain, and get these cupcakes. My advice: make friends in line! We talked with several people, a few who were (gasp!) actually DC residents. One informed us the line was this bad even before the TV show.

I had the "Banana Split" - it was the best cupcake I have ever had. Now, I haven't had that many cupcakes, nor paid attention to the cupcake phenomenon so take that at face value. My wife and kids loved theirs as well.

Would I go frequently? No. Once in a while? Yes. As part of my DC Washington Tourist Extravaganza something other than the Mall, something fun to do with KIDS in DC / Georgetown? Yes, absolutely!

Cupcakes are good, but not so good I crave more. Would have given three stars, but staff attitude is poor. They literally talk to you like you are there to serve them and are rude if you do not do it their way. There were two instances of this in the 20 minutes I was there. The line seemed touristy, probably due it's reputation for starting America's cupcake trend.

We ordered a dozen red velvet cupcakes to be shipped for Valentine's Day. Instead, we got a dozen assorted. When we notified GC and they called us back later, they wanted a picture of the cupcakes before they would fix the order. Too bad they didn't let us know that sooner. I guess they think we're trying to steal an extra dozen cupcakes. This was a waste of time and money -- all this fuss for some cupcakes. If you get the wrong order from these folks, make sure you take a picture before you toss them.

I was hesitent about ordering but all i can remember is the line at the georgetown location. When the fedex guy came he was holding the box sideways. I then opened the box and was surprised at the perfection of the packing and the cupcakes well AWESOME.

I placed an order on-line around 11:30am to pick up 6 cupcakes later that day. I drove an hour to pick them up and arrived around 5:30pm. I was then informed that they had a busy afternoon and ran out of half the cupcakes that I had already purchased . They had no answer as to why my cupcakes weren t set aside when I purchased them so they wouldn t sell out or why they didn t contact me to let me know they wouldn t be able to fulfill my order. I would have gone elsewhere if they couldn t deliver what I paid for. They only thing they offered was a refund or to give me different cupcakes. The whole point of ordering them and paying for them in advance was to make sure they were there when I arrived. In the end, I wasted two hours of drive time due to their poor customer service. Very frustrating. They have a great product, but their customer service and accountability when they make a mistake leaves much to be desired.

One of your must-do tourist things while in Georgetown. If you live here it a fun outing. The cupcakes are great and there are usually 15 or more choices at $3.25 each. The staff is super friendly and fast. Do expect to wait in a line, it's a hot spot..... but you're going to wait in line for everything in Georgetown.... might as well reward yourself with something sweet.

This place is really recommended. We went because we were caught by what can be seen from the outside and the divine presentation of each cupcake made us crazy, in addition to the tremendous variety of flavors and colors. They are delicious, very soft and fluffy, and the attention and order in the business is excellent.

I only give this place the average rating because it was not worth the wait in line. This place seems like a tourist attraction and it sure is. The cupcakes are quite tasty but you can get that anywhere else for a much cheaper price. Don't fall for the hype. Try it out if there's no line. If there is and you decide to wait, you will be dissapointed.

I went in yesterday for the first time and ordered a 1/2 dozen. The young lady that took my order was the worst. Not only did she look irritated she was very unfriendly which took away from the experience of purchasing these expensive popular cupcakes. If it wasn't for the fact that I waited in a long line I would have walked away. She definitely needs to be in the back working, not the front... On a more pleasant note, the cupcakes were great. I would suggest that they put as much pride in their customer service as they put in their cupcakes.

Georgetown Cupcake Bakery has an unbelievable smell of fragrant cake and forget to come back and always have a chance to visit this bakery so delicious, eat sweet tea, or have coffee on the cloud

So many options of cupcakes. The cupcakes themselves were delicious. And of course lots of variety. I would say that the staff could have been a little bit friendlier. I know it was busy, but we didn't receive very many smiles.

Great flavors, there is always a serious queue. The most popular place in the region is naturally impossible to get in and out. There are also varieties suitable for all tastes. You have a hard time as there are plenty of options. I highly recommend it ...

I give them 4 stars instead of 5 only because I'm frustrated with their service. I placed my order online at 1:30p to be picked up at 2pm. I ordered 1 red velvet and 1 salted caramel in my half dozen. Went for pickup at 2pm and my order wasn't ready.

I went back at 3pm and they still couldn't find my order, so I literally had to pull up my order on my phone and read it to them -- at which time they told me "Oh we just ran out of red velvet and salted caramel." So I had to settle for a chocolate one and a unicorn. Left wondering if had my order been put together on time, maybe I could have gotten my red velvet and salted caramel.

The cupcakes are delicious though. Just wish they weren't tainted by terrible customer service experience.

What's in the box: 1 Unicorn, 1 chocolate, 1 coconut, 1 birthday cake, and 2 vanilla with cream cheese frosting (wanted butter cream frosting, but whatever)

Always a treat! Long lines but worth it. If you live locally you can order a day before and walk in. They also deliver which is nice for work events. Slightly disappointed because Level Up wasn't working.

Cupcakes were delicious but tiny and expensive. Their key lime cheesecake cupcake is TO DIE FOR. Then graham cracker crust on the bottom is phenomenal. There are basically 6 seats in whole shop and it's so busy there is basically nowhere to sit. Lines can get ridiculous if you come during peak hours.

The Red Velvet is a must! So so good! Probably one of the best red velvet cupcakes I've had. The chocolate ganache is great too. The cupcakes are a bit small for the price but definitely worth it for the taste. Lines go out the door so prepare to wait. I waited about 15 to 20 min. Even so, I eould go back for the red velvet!

Cupcakes were pricey but delicious. I only had one concern. There was a worker that was working with gloves on (thumbs up) but she was constantly handling her cell phone, which contaminated her gloves (thumbs down). I would rate them a 5 if not for this health concern.

The frosting on the red velvet and carrot was amazing.
Also tried German fudge was great too.
I rarely get impressed by cupcakes. Usually they are not very tasty and the frosting is too sugary and has strong butter taste this place was not. And really met my expectations.
It was worth waiting in line which took 10 - 15 mins

I visited Cupcake on Sunday, July 27, in DC I was on vacation and I had a great interest in eating the famous cupcakes, I watch the program every day here in Panama, I would return not only to eat but to bring my mom here in Panama.
It hurt me not to bring him because they told me that I would not pass customs in the United States back to Panama.

Due to the weather my cupcakes arrived damaged. Customer service literally emailed me within 5 minutes and are sending new cupcakes tomorrow. We order from them about 3-4 times per year and will continue to do so!

We tried a number of different types of cupcakes, and I forget which one I really liked. If I do recall I ll add that here. We tried at least a dozen different ones but I think mine was the milk chocolate one. Dark chocolate isn t my cup of tea.
