Geoff McDonald & Associates were awesome! I worked with Mr. McDonald himself and Cheryl Reid. There was never a time where I had to call and worry them about what was going on because they kept me notified at all times. They were respectful to my needs and any concerns I may have had. Never in a million years did I imagine being in a situation as such. I was in a car accident while at work which caused me to be out of work for almost 2 years. I started with another law firm that didn't give me many options when it came to my case so I was referred to Geoff McDonald & Associates which was a great choice and I'm very well pleased. I guess you can tell they won my case and I am forever grateful. I would recommend them to anyone looking for competent team for legal representation. Geoff McDonald & Associates should not change a thing, you guys are awesome. My mother called so many other firms and no one wanted to take my case except for Geoff. I have lived in Richmond all my life and I have always seen his commercials.

When i got hurt it seemed like noone was doing anything to help. I heard about Geoff McDonald through my union so i gave him a call and things started moving. Cheryll Reid and Richard Talbot worked on my case and they helped make everything as stress free as possible and helped through through the whole process. There was a couple times where i didnt hear anything and wish i knew what was going on but i guess thats just part of the process. Thank you for everything!
GMA Team talks a big game about how well they will take care of their clients - even boasting in their television ad about their "web portal" ( to keep their clients "informed about the status of their case" ) but, once I signed up with them, it was a COMPLETELY different story ! They were my attorney for three weeks and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING other than unnecessarily postpone my Workers Compensation hearing because they claimed that there wasn't enough time to prepare for my case that was still FIVE WEEKS away at the time. At first, I didn't have a problem with this but, it quickly became apparent that hiring GMA was a mistake after EVERY phone call, voice message and email went unanswered until calling the main number and complaining, then, all of a sudden, the person who was just "unavailable" was miraculously able to take the call and offer some lame excuse for being unfamiliar with important, time sensitive information that was sent in emails and web portal posts or referenced in voice messages. Even phone calls to Geoff McDonald were never answered and voice messages left on his cell were never returned.
After realizing that continued representation by GMA was definitely not in my best interest since they had displayed NO interest in speaking with me or doing anything constructive with my case, I sent an email to Mr. McDonald, my attorney Mr. Carr and, my "case manager" Cheryll advising that I was immediately terminating their "representation". I never received a single phone call or email in response to that email either.

This seems to be a "Form Letter" response to any negative reviews which includes a hollow invitation to contact you on your cell. I received the same hollow invitation after hiring your firm for my representation too and, not one but TWO calls to your cell number went unanswered, my voice messages were never responded to either so, what is it exactly that you would like to discuss NOW, that you were unwilling to discuss when you were my attorney? What could you possibly say after you and your employees repeatedly ignored my emails, voice messages and "web portal" posts when I needed your professional advice and guidance? Even after sending my email to terminate my representation by GMA, you couldn't be bothered to reach out with a phone call or email but, in response to my review, you are suddenly "concerned" -- Please....
No, Mr. McDonald, I will not be calling to discuss my experience and comments because there is NO EXCUSE for the total disregard you and your employees showed when they were SUPPOSED to be there to help and were not.
I enjoyed GMA the staff was friendly. All questions were answered in a timely manner. Anything I didn't understand was throughly explained to me. All responses were handled quickly and to my satisfaction. I felt like I was the top priority and was treated as number one. GMA will be number one on my list when I need help again.
This company is the best hands down they care about you and your needs. They handle my kids cases and always kept me in the loop about what was going on and explained everything to me especially do to COVID-19 that did not stop Geoff McDonald from they kept in contact via phone call or via email . Literally anywhere else, so this is my third actual edit on this review. After being implied that i would be further compensated, born from the lack of professional with this law firm, and then being threatend with a lawsuit after i edited the review a second time. So that it would reflect how instead of actual compensation (after they seen i taken the review down) sent me three, five dollar gift cards to starbucks. A total slap in the face, after everything i went through during my tenure with this firm. So back to the actual review. The third review. This one will be short since it doesnt allow much room. Once they had my settlement, the customer service spiked. I endured 2 months of them holding my check. Out of work. All because two of my many hospital bills were turned in late. (It took me on the phone wil the insurance and hospital everyday). It took my calling the attorney general office. Once they found out, i had my money the next day. After all that, i still got shorted in the long run, a bunch of fees after the third they already took. That they didnt earn in the slightest sense. I had other attorneys, and wrote a ton of reviews. This is the only negative one ive really ever made.
To have a group of people help you and support you your entire time during your hardship made things a lot easier. Most companies only care about the money. Would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Kara Crane is a Godsend, she was my rock through a very stressful time. No matter what I needed, questions answered, case worries or even if it was just to vent. She also returned my calls/emails quickly and I feel like she really does care. I just adore Paulette at the front desk with her bright and happy attitude as well. And although I am not thrilled about the final numbers, I am happy that Kaitlyn took over my case. When my family and I was hit the only thing I kept seeing on TV was Geoff McDonald so I called them up and I could tell that my well being was priority. I'm not sure how many times Kim asked me if me and my family okay. You can hear the sincerity in Kim's voice, I was a group home kid and never really had the feeling of life will be ok. Whenever I spoke to her she made me feel like I was the only case that she had. She answered every single question or concerned that I had and I knew I mattered to her. Amelia came on board and I must admit, I think I gave her a tough time but she was so patient with me and never took anything personal. She understood that emotions got the best out of me and she answered all my questions thoroughly. It she didnt have an answer she made sure she got the correct answer and called me back once she did. My case isn't settled yet but I know with Geoff and these two, everything will be perfectly ok. So I thank you all for accepting my case, I've never been in an accident and it is truly scary so I cant thank you enough for the well checks on my family and I.
Update: Finally!!!!! lol. It has been an extremely long road. Now that everything is said an done i figure ill update. Bottom line i would use them again but there were somethings i wasnt too happy with. It seemed as if everytime i called there was someone new on the case. The people that picked up the case were amazing but i just wish someone wouldve informed me that such and such left the company. It happened twice. Now we were dealing with another driver who was also involved and they were our hold up on my case closing fast. Its been almost two years but we are here now. I will say Kyle, i loved his firmness. It seemed like he was fed up with the other peoples attorneys just like i was. i can tell he was doing all he could to get those peoples attorney to do their jobs. Now to the money. I can say its more than what i had. Was it what i expected, no do i hink i deserve more. Yes lol. I had to have foot surgery which of course crushed my dream of joining the military. I still have pain in my foot and i cant wear some of my shoes anymore. I know that doesnt have much to do with Geoff McDonald and more to do with the policy. I actually had to have two foot surgeries so theres no amount of money that could ever balance that out. So of course with COVID-19 going on i had to sign everything electronically and was tld the checks would be in the mail and should receive them 3-5 business days. This is what not really upset me but made me feel some type of way. With the money they made off the case which is more than what i pocketed, i wished they took a few dollars and atleast overnight the check, i mean i couldve paid for it but ive waited this long so i guess another week wont hurt.. This entire case ive never been in office but i really wish i couldve met Mr.Mcdonald, Taj talked vry highly of him and me being a foster child who bounced from group home to foster home, i really wished i couldve shaken his hand or even a hug lol. The day after my accident I called the GMA number and there was an investigator at my house that afternoon and I also received a call from Paul Dull later the same day. Paul has represented my daughter and myself with the best legal services and we thank you.
This isn't directed towards the McDonald law firm per se. But the law firm in NC that they connect you with. When you are calling about disability issues. First and foremost do not contact a lawyer or law firm unless you have been denied disability. I talked to someone from the firm and was mailed paperwork the next day. Me being clueless sign the paperwork mailed it back. Thinking if I need them for my case I would already have a lawyer. Not knowing I didn't need a lawyer yet, but they knew. 4 to 5 months go by the only time I talked to someone. Is when the firm called me asking if I had heard anything from Social Services. So when I was accepted to get disability. The law firm got over 5000 dollars of my back disability claim. Because they attached themselves to my case knowing they didn't do a thing for me. Because I had already filled for disability on my own. I was just waiting for my decision from Social Services. And the real sad part is it was legal. They didn't have to do me like that, but they did because they could. And I didn't know. If that's not unethical I don't know what is. I really hope this helps someone. So they don't have to go through what I did. Geoff McDonald I heard you are a good person. But you need to look at that firm in NC. Because they got money for doing absolutely nothing for me. Just because something is legal doesn't mean it's right.
