I will preface this by saying that I was introduced to Gentleman Jim s by my wife. Their family has frequented this establishment since my mother-in-law was a child. We lost a family member and would be in the area so decided to stop in for a quick bit to eat. We were the only costumers in the establishment at 3 in the afternoon. We had always enjoyed just a cheese pizza from here and would order two of them with drinks for my group of six.

Our waitress brought out our drinks and began to pass them out. I was on the opposite side she started so when she got to me she only had two drinks left. I was talking and the next thing I knew was that there was ice cold soda in my lap. She had tried to lean over and hand the soda to the person sitting next to me and had dumped a cup of soda all over me and my wife. I was in shock! The waitress then immediately began laughing at what she had done. It wasn t until my wife addressed the stain on her white sweatshirt that she realized this was a serious mistake. It then took her a couple of minutes to realize that we could not sit at a table full of soda.

She had moved us to a new table and was laughing about the situation at this time. I was not amused and neither was my wife. My wife was so uncomfortable that she left and decided to wait in the car. Not wanting to eat without my wife we decided to get the food to go. The waitress brought out our food and the check. She didn t charge us for a drink and one of the pizzas was a smaller size price. The bill still came to over 32 dollars.

I payed with a card and didn t leave a tip for obvious reasons. Leaving the waitress started to make comments to my children about not leaving a tip. I stopped and asked to speak to the manager. I was told that there was no manager there. I then asked for her name which I was not given. I then asked her for the number to speak to the manager. Which I was not given. I was ignored but she was able to call me a F ing B. (I will leave that word up to your imagination)

I finally saw an employee walking past the door I was standing next to and hollered into him. The owner came out and spoke with me. He was nicer but did make me aware that if he believed every customer who had a problem he would be out of business. He also told me he would call me back with an update after he talked to his employee. Surprise surprise he never called me back.

On September 5th, we ordered a large carry-out order, which led to the worst carry-out experience of my life.

A hearty meal for six adults and two children came out to 89.47 - not cheap, but if things had gone well, it would have been worth it. It's a shame they completely left off the pizza, mis-prepared two of the sandwiches which had special requests, replaced a third sandwich with something totally different from the menu, and served us rancid artichoke dip (It tasted tingly and sour. Those of us who ate a bite were left with stomach pain and abdominal cramps).

As this was a carry-out order, we discovered the issues after returning to our friends' home with the food. The person who recommended Gentleman Jim's, a former regular, was embarrassed to have suggested we order from there, and says he won't make the mistake of recommending them to anyone else.

Still, I wanted to offer them an opportunity to correct the issue. I called and explained my issue. I was told I would be called back promptly. I called again an hour later and was told the same thing again. 90 minutes after my original call (long after we had discarded most of the foul food and ordered Domino's as an apology to our friends for a meal turned so wrong), I was told I had to bring everything back for any kind of refund.

I expressed how frustrating this was, to be told so long after the fact that I must return the food. Most of it had gone out in bags to the dumpster by this time. I salvaged one item--the spoiled dip--and took it back to the store, explaining the rest had been thrown away and could not be retrieved. At this time, Samantha assured me what I brought back would be okay, and that I would be called by the owner the next day.

The owner did call me back. as promised, on September 6th. During this call, he expressed pride in his store, and badmouthed the kitchen staff a little; telling me the cook in question (who apparently also works at the local Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse) was "a good guy, but kinda cafeteria-style". He said he was horrified that I had such a bad experience, further horrified that I was made to bring any food back at all, and promised not only to institute better kitchen practices, but to refund me fully. I ended this call thinking he genuinely cared.

10 days later, when the refund did not show, I called to follow up. Joe (the owner) was not available but I was assured he would return my call. He did not.

I called again, three more times. Each time I was promised a call back. On the final call, I spoke with someone who I can only assume was the daughter of one of the owners. She called me a liar, accused me of trying to scam the store, and told me she was reading "in his handwriting" that I was only entitled to a partial refund because I brought so little food back.

I told her, with all due respect, that I hoped to speak again with Joe. I was sure he would set this straight after the conversation we had the day after the incident.

Alas, he never called back, and I have to-date been forced to begin charge-back proceedings with my bank. I have no intention of paying $90 for an order that was incomplete, incorrect, and partially spoiled.

Had this refund gone through, as I was promised, I would have gladly given this place another chance based on an owner who cares about customer service. Now, I will tell everyone I know that the experience was terrible, and the owner is a liar.

I have been a patron for many years, I can always count on the food being good. I usually go during the day and have Deb as a waitress, she is always very friendly and efficient. The evening wait and carryout staff are also good.

Bottle of Yuengling was way too expensive...6.00 a bottle. Highway robbery, in my book.

Wow, what happened to here I have been coming here for years. And now trying to support a local business with all the Covid-19 and it is absolutely heartbreaking. The Sampler was cold and the Pizza had way to much cheese on it and I didn't order extra cheese and the Pizza was under cooked and still doughy. With a total of six people in the entire restaurant. And let's not talk about our rude Waitress Lisa she is not a very happy person at all. It will be a long time before I come back here again. Very upset

The first pizza I can remember! Since I was a little girl I ve been going to Gentleman Jim s. So many memories I ve had coming here as a child with family. Today was my daughters birthday party I called in early to have a pick up at 2:30 and when I got there to pay the lady said I m sorry the order isn t in and she said she would rush it for me and give me a discount. I sat in my car and she came outside with the pizza. She was very apologetic and made me a priority. It was worth the wait, my daughter tried Maryland style pizza on her second birthday and the adults all asked me where is this pizza place. Thanks Gentleman Jim s for helping make Aria s #2 birthday so special.

New to the area and now delighted to find this place within walking distance of my apartment.

Yeungling on tap and a decent selection of "gaithersburgers". I could do without the processed American cheese on top of the "Dan the Man" but other than it was delicious. Next visit I'll try the pizza.

The service was prompt and efficient and the staff weren't hovering". The decor is authentic and I bet on a weekend, during happy hour, or during a game, this is a great place to hangout and unwind.

Myself and my colleagues place group orders with this place. We bought wings and they were so nasty my co-worker left hers on the table and refused to eat them. I threw mine in the trash as well after taking 1 bite. They were flavorless & dry. They were not seasoned and tasted like burnt grease. Also, I'm not sure whose cooking but don't order anything that's supposed to be Cajun (pasta) because I thought cajun should have a spicy flavor but everytime I have suggested anything cajun it tastes unseasoned and bland. This may be acceptable if your at bar drinking & your tastebuds are off but I will not be ordering from here anymore & we spend a lot of money there. There were other things ordered that were not good crabby fries were undercooked this time & they put more crab dip then the fries. Overall it was a bad experience & for the cost of the food that's unacceptable. I think you guys might want to stop rushing orders. Not to mention a salad was also ordered & you didn't provide the dressing for it. I don't know if some of us will continue to order from you but I will not. I hate to do this but I'm hoping maybe you guys will start making an effort to provide better service & food!
