This is the main attraction of Alexandria. It is a middle age fortress built on the bank of Mediterranean sea. Very well maintained establishment indeed. Entry fee was 60 Egyptian Pound for adult and 30 for students and locals (2019).

The Citadel of Qaitbay was amazing! Mind you I have been there before but every time I go I'm always in wonderment. It is a beautifully built castle, it has a lot of history to it. its right on the water so it provides a very serene view. My husband and I also had decided to take our engagement photos out there as I wanted to capture a little bit of my Egyptian sides history. I shared some photos below (photo credit: Adham Omar photography)
Doors usually open at 9am, tickets were not too expensive, if I'm not mistaken it was under $10 USD. There is also a fun bazaar to shop at on the streets.
Side note for tourists: if you are offered a horse carriage ride to the castle, always find out how much it will cost before you ride. Some of the older locals who run it may overcharge you if you don't ask.

This citadel from the fifteenth century is greatly preserved and it is definitely interesting to wander around. The site lacks signs that point you to significant areas though so a lot is left to your own imagination.

Great place for old architecture lovers. With huge buildings and old doors and windows. Good for photography.
With a very good price for tickets especially for egyptian students. I went with my Canon camera and didn't have to pay anything more for it.
The view from above is majestic and the history of the place is good.
Easy to reach and you can use the double levels bus to get their while taking a tour in Alexandria's streets.

The truth is not much to see inside the enclosure. However, it is a place to visit as it is the place where the mythical lighthouse of Alexandria is located. In addition, the views of the Mediterranean Sea make it a perfect place to contemplate
