Great location.

Great location.
A construction of national interest and protection of the city as opposed to other pharaonic constructions that were only for their person and their sick mind.

Visiting the Citadel was a fine experience. At the entrance there is a sign that the Citadel was established in 882AH -1477AD. The building was a defence fortress and also houses the second oldest mosque in Alexandria. This mosque occupies more than half of the first floor area.

The Fort offers a great panaromic view of the Mediterranean Sea.

The visit time recommended here is about two hours. the Citadel has three floors. Exercise caution when climbing the stairs.

It s a very beautiful citadel. You have access to pretty much every corner of it. The view is stunning. It s a must see if you re in Alexandria, even for a day trip.
From there you d have a beautiful view of the sea, the corniche and part of the city.
If you re by the downtown area or at the corniche, you can walk to the citadel. There is a fee for the entrance, but it s definitely worth it.

Wonderful historical place to visit at morning. You can even visit it at night and enjoy the weather and the sound of the waves hitting the rocks while watching the citadel shining at night in yellow colours.
Drinking some tea or eating grilled corn will be a good idea.
Nearby the citadel, there is an aquarium and museums.

I wish all those responsible for the archaeological and historical sites in Egypt from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to preserve the antiquities of Egypt and to look at the cafes in place in Qataybay and what is reflected in the beautiful history of our country

It was built in the place of the ancient lighthouse of Alexandria, which was destroyed in 702 AH as a result of the devastating earthquake that took place during the reign of Sultan al-Nasir Muhammad ibn Qalawun. Sultan al-Ashraf Abu al-Nasr Qaitbay started building this castle in 882 AH and completed its construction in 884 AH.
That is why he was named after him.
The Mamluk Sultan Qansoh al-Ghuri took care of the castle, increasing its importance and shipping it with weapons.

A very important impact historically, geographically, engineering and design, as his presence in a country of brilliance, such as Alexandria, increases its value and elegance, but as usual it lacks the appropriate attention to it from its first appearance from the main street, passing through marine neighborhoods, the process of organizing entry and the individuals responsible for the system, as well as the cleanliness of Nakhiyya which and the tools
There must be ideas to maintain its development, increase its luster, attractiveness, preserve it, and view it from land and sea.
I think it can be made unique and a global destination of its own
