I went to a wedding reception there and they did a great job serving and there were no technical or logistical issues. Very good venue.

It's an OK hotel. Comfy room and clean. I world rate it as a 3 star hotel.

Rooms where clean, the restaurant is pretty good. Overall a decent hotel.

nice hotel, nicely modernized. the restaurant inside the hotel called the Iowa Stater, has craft beers from the local area available and a nice selection on their menu for food. a good variety without a ton of choices. makes it easy for the kitchen to get things right, I recommend the spinach and artichoke dip, very tasty ! on Sunday mornings, they have a breakfast buffet, and at the price of only $12.50 is actually quite good. it didn't offer prime rib pork loin or shrimp like some of the brunch buffets would do at double the price, but they did have an omelet station, a waffle iron, and a few other breakfast favorites like French toast biscuits and gravy sausage bacon hash browns and cheese covered eggs. All that accompanied by some pretty decent coffee and your expected continental breakfast choices like cereals and pastries, made for a nice value and a good way to start the day...

Was here for a work conference. The rooms were spacious and well temperature controlled. Lunch was provided by Gateway and was delicious.. Multiple restroom options which were well maintained. Staff was friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking near the conference center as well.

Great stay. Nice, clean, beds comfy. Toilets/showers clean and working. Restaurant in the hotel, and nice to be able to stay where the conference was. Would stay again.

It's a great pool and hot tub, our kids really enjoy it. 3 to 6 ft depth.

Recently attended a wedding at this hotel. The wedding was lovely and the catering done by the hotel was great! The rooms, however, left a lot to be desired for the price.

Ate at the Iowa State. Killer reuben. Best I've ever had actually.

Great location if you are looking for a comfortable stay near the ISU campus. Although the hotel decor feels a little date, the rooms are in great shape, the beds are comfortable, and the staff has seemed responsive in each of my four stays here. Though the hotel can be full when there is a game or a large college event going on, other times it is very quiet, and by searching hotel booking sit s, you might find a great deal.

The location was great, I was recently there for the Next Lvl Expo and events were spread out enough and accommodations were offered. All staff were helpful pointing out where things were and had suggestions on things to do.

The Rotary Club of Ames meets here every Monday at Noon. Stop by if you ever have interest in seeing what Rotary is all about or if you are already in Rotary and visiting from another club.

Good place for business conference, great food from the attached restaurant.

Have stayed here several times. Normally nice enough, but this time the air conditioning in our room was barely able to cool the room. Heard some other guests saying the same thing. With the heatwave. Iowa was experiencing, this did cost them a star.

We stayed at the gateway hotel for a weeding and the room and service was great.

Decent venue but air conditioning was inconsistent throughout the building.

The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the staff was friendly. The food was good but seemed overpriced to me. I didnt get anything extravagant and it was $20 just for me. Also, seemed very clean and tidy.

We had our family reunion and my brothers 60th birthday this weekend, the staff of both the hotel and the restaurant were amazing!! Our family is very thankful for the excellent service. We have a lot of good memories!

Clean, convenient to ISU and Ames. Friendly, attentive staff with a good restaurant.

This place is kept up way better than any hotel I have stayed in. Shocked it was built 1978.

Stayed 2 nights in a very clean, big room for a great price. Had an excellent breakfast, and was able to find a very quiet place to do work for 4 hours without being disturbed. Overall, a fantastic experience, and if I'm in Ames again, I will be sure to go back to Gateway first!

We had dinner at The IowaStater restaurant, and the food, service and atmosphere were all fantastic! We will definitely be back!

I attended a wedding reception held in the Conference Center at the Gateway Hotel and it was a great and fitting venue. The atmosphere was perfect for ISU alumni and there was a generous amount of indoor space as well as outdoor space. Parking was close and convenient; no issue at all. There were media plug-ins that allowed us to display computer outputs on the multiple projectors. The food was great and the bar service was fast. 10/10 experience

Nice place...big lobby with big TV screen, free bike to explore ames also

The rooms are comfortable and the restaurant is good. The customer service is poor. I left something at the hotel and I have made several calls to the housekeeping staff the front office manager and the general manager. I have not received any call back.

I travel all over Iowa and othe Midwest states. on one of my business trips I stayed here to relax in the jacuzzi but everything about this place is exceptional so it s one of my favorite hotels in Iowa!

The Gateway Hotel is a comfy place with excellent service. Their breakfast is worth every penny. The rooms are nice, some rooms have a fridge and microwave, while other rooms do not have them. Either way the Gateway Hotel is worth the stay if you are passing through Iowa.

Decent room size, however no fridges or microwaves in room. Limited parking availability.

It's a nice place but the layout sucks. Had to walk the hallway of never ending to get to my room. Free WiFI, but everybody does that now.

Good rooms, uncomfortable bathtub, would not reccomend sleeping in it.

The customer service at the Gateway Hotel is excellent! I stayed as a guest for 5 nights for the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals tournament. My first interaction was with the Front Desk. The clerk was so nice, and funny, and helpful. As I walked through the hotel, I was greeted by a housekeeper who appeared to work the lobby areas. She asked me about my trip, where I was from, how long I was staying, etc. Such a sweet gal. The banquet staff was always very polite and did their jobs with a smile on their faces. The food had its good moments, and its very bad. Breakfast was just ok. Dinner was definitely more of a highlight. The reception food, ie: meatballs, and egg rolls (probably the sauce) was way too spicy and not good at all. Having the food at the hotel for 6 days certainly put my stomach into a tizzy. However, I did have the pleasure of eating lunch in the restaurant. It was a delicious chicken sandwich. From the Wait staff to housekeeping, front desk to banquets, I was overall extremely impressed by the quality of the staff. As a former hotel employee from several well known chain, I was very impressed.

Friendly staff. The fitness center and pool were lackluster for the price, and the breakfast had very few vegan-friendly options (fruit and potatoes if you're starving). Free wifi was quick, and the beds were nice, so it was alright all told.

DO NOT!!!! Stay at this hotel ever since my stay i have had over 700 dollars in extra non-authorized fees debited from my account! I called the hotel and they advised they had no documented info of my stay!! Con-artists!!! Do not recommend at all!!

Conference room was very nice. Cool environment and food and service was great. Staff was friendly and attentive. Bathrooms were very nice and clean.

Rooms are ok. Air-conditioning is very old not even a thermostat. Location is good if you go to the University. Restaurant is a very good option.

Had an a joining room, you could here everything the neighbors said. Was charged the 50.00 incidental fee. I had to call to have this taken off.

I didnt spend the night at the gateway.. but the group I was with did. They were happy with the stay. The lobby area is filled with iowa state memorabilia. Cool experience
