Rooms were nice clean and roomy would of got a 5 star had it had a microwave in room
Very clean and comfortable, nice restaurant on site
Through the summer its slower and stayed here often working in the area and was great!!
A very nice hotel! Love the smart water in the room. They had a nice indoor pool & hot tub area. The also had a great workout room & sauna in the same area as the pool. The room was very clean and would recommend this hotel & stay again.
Very friendly staff, plenty of food for the price you pay, and great food at that. Recommended restaurant/bar.
Comfortable, clean, nice staff. Nothing special but solid.
Hotel is good. Rooms are always clean and rates are fair. Worth nothing that the internet is soft capped at 5 up 5 down
The staff is very nice. The rooms are ok just a little dated. They are a dog friendly hotel. Great but there were 2 rooms of loud barking dogs on our floor. It would have been nice to be given the option to be on a floor without animals. The hotel was sold out due to several club basketball teams at the hotel. The combo of kids using all public spaces lobby, pool, outside area left no place for my kids.
I visited this hotel a couple of months ago and while the lobby looks really nice and upscale the room I stayed in was pretty bad. The room smelled musty and had a faint scent of cigarette smoke, while the air conditioning unit was loud and disturbed my sleep.
While this was an okay place to spend the night, it was not what I was expecting based on the pictures from the website. I wish I would have taken pictures of the room while I was there. If you stay here be prepared that the room you see on the website, for a 2 Queen room (which is what I stayed in) may not be the room you receive in reality. It may be that the hotel was/is remodeling their rooms and I received an unmodeled room, but it was not like the picture.
On the plus side the front desk staff was really nice and the hotel was easy to find.
Clean lobby resent remodel looks real nice front desk personal very friendly
Great Mother's day brunch!! So much to choose from.
Very nice place to stay, somewhat pricy, I am glad my company was paying. Nice contemporary feel to the main floor.
Service is great, amenities are great, wifi was awful.
The staff here worked with me and my needs. They were so accommodating. Love this group of employees. Keep up the good work.
Iowa Stater equals excellent food.
I didn't stay there since I live in Ames but when I visited it I found it very clean and nice. The restroom is very clean and they have a restaurant and bar called Iowa Stater DON'T MISS IT.
The projector in North/Central Prairie room is in bad shape. Food is alright but not impressive.
Was at the conference center for a conference. Let me get the few cons out of the way first. While the conference room we we're in was adequate sized the placement of the projector and screen made it uncomfortable to view for the time I was there. The speaker placement is also questionable as when moving around the room there was quite a bit of microphone feedback. They catered for the event and ran out of one of the main dish choices when we were under the expected attendance number, but the food was otherwise good. It was also quite difficult to find the location of the room we were supposed to be in, but that was more on lack of communication from the event organizer. Until the pros, it was a clean and well maintained conference room, bathrooms were also well maintained and clean, and overall seemed to be a well kept hotel/conference center.
Nice spacious rooms. A little expensive for a small town in Iowa.
The staff members were very professional and friendly
We meet here for The Rotary Club of Ames weekly . Great food and service!
Went for a rotary club meeting. The building was clean and the staff was helpful.
Great service and food. Banquet I attended was well catered to
Dated hotel but with all the normal amenities. Located close to Hilton and Jack Trice arenas. Would stay again.
It's not necessarily bad, just really expensive for what you get. No refrigerator or fan in the bathroom for a 300 dollar room.
Very nice place. Helpful staff always with a smile and a greet. Rooms are 10 out of 10 clean and comfortable. Can't wait for my next show at the conference center.
Waited 45 mins for a burger that came out with the wrong side and got my salad at the same time as my burger. My coworker and I were the only ones in the restaurant eating and still took forever. They blamed the tardiness on two weddings that were happening down the hall.
Relatively nice place. Convenient. Great location
Hotel restaurant is a slightly upscale bar with great food, atmosphere, and service
Easy place to stay: friendly staff, great pool/patio area.
The gateway group provided excellent service. The conference room was comfortable, the equipment was functional too. The rooms were clean, and basic supplies were provided.
the beds were super comfortable and the sauna and pool were really nice. I enjoyed my stay greatly
Good staff. Clean rooms, super close to the Iowa State campus.
Conference food was bland but serviceable. Unlimited coffee helped
Conference center was big with a good atmosphere. The staff was also very friendly
My room didn't have the option to run the fan all the time with the air conditioner, so that wasn't ideal for me. Also the bedding smelled lightly of cigarettes. Otherwise it was fine.
Great room. Great pool area. Very clean and quiet. Great lobby area. Nothing bad to say about the hotel.
The only reason why this is not a 5 is because the elevator kinda was slow and Iowa State has ugly colors!
I went there for a wedding and found the hotel very nice.
Always a great place to stay and the staff is very acomidating.
The hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating. They make jokes and handle all requests with professionalism. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable.
We were very pleased with the service and moderately pleased with the accommodations. The room we stayed in was spacious and with a gorgeous view. Most of the furnishing in the room was newer, although the carpet had likely not been updated since when the hotel was built in the late 70's, as it was well worn down and slightly damp feeling. Much of the hotel is under renovation but that did not impact our stay significantly. The food in the restaurant is excellent. Very convenient for our stay in Ames.
Seems nice enough. No refrigerator and crappy pillows but otherwise, no complaints
Room was very clean as expected. Bed was comfortable. Exhaust fan in bathroom/shower didn't work. Didn't have room with king bed available but put us in a room with double queens and offered us free breakfast for our inconvenience. We didn't use the free breakfast because we already had breakfast plans elsewhere. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Catered food was nothing special, staff were helpful
Rather small but with a decent selection of ballrooms and meeting spaces.
Decent rooms, good amenities, even have bikes for use
Hotel is nice and clean - a little dated, but it is functional.
After that long drive hotwire hooked us up with an executive suite and my sister & I slept for 12.5 hrs. Very clean, staff was amazing, quite even though the was a pool in the hotel and clearly the bed was comfy.
Hallways were a bit dingy, and the rooms as well, but it was cheap... Soo what can you expect.
A nice place to stay albeit a bit pricey. Everything is Iowa State themed or branded and it feels like an extension of Iowa State.
Rooms were clean, but the beds are very hard and uncomfortable.
Had another great Barilla Christmas dinner here. The service was pretty good, with the servers being very attentive! Missed the wontons from last year's hors d'oeuvres, though.
Was there for a conference and Gateway provided excellent and prompt service with a good lunch buffet.
Great place. Very homey and close to the ISU campus. Perfect for alumni to feel like they are back in their glory days.
We were there for a work-related event. The room was too small for the number of people who attended, but I don't believe that is any fault of the venue. The food was good and the servers were very attentive. I didn't see an empty plate sit for more than a minute before being whisked away, and they were very unobtrusive while moving about the room. They kept the food well-stocked throughout the evening.
The hotel is clean and the room was fresh but the building as a whole is in dire need of upgrades. It is straight out of 1981 in decor and design.
Still, the staff is very friendly, the hotel is quiet, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was very good.
We had a work luncheon in the conference center. The food was really good and service was fine. The center is pretty up-to-date and appears to be in good shape.
Always enjoy the conference facilities and catering.
Very nice and friendly staff, clean rooms, nice building. Definitely recommend.
