The Gateway was a nice place to stay after a long day at the FFA State Convention. I only got to sleep there, but the beds were comfortable and the shower was nice. I didn't have time to check out the pool or restaurant, but everything was good otherwise. The only reason I'm knocking off a star is that check-in took a long time and there was a mix-up with the rooms my advisor booked so they weren't all on the same floor (even when she had booked them a year in advance). The wifi was also really slow.

This hotel was conveniently located, quiet, & comfortable. Also pet friendly, which is an absolute must for us. We use this hotel again when we come into town to visit our daughter at college.

We've been going to the Gateway's Easter brunch buffet for quite a few years. The reservation and check-in process has always been flawless. The service has always been good and the variety of buffets ensures everyone can find what they want. The food, while not necessarily amazing, is never bad and there are always a few standout items.

I went to the Gateway Hotel to drop off some coffee for my wife. Simple task on my end, but once I got inside I realized I had no idea where her conference was being held... That being said, the staff immediately recognized I was not familiar with their layout and asked where I was headed in such a polite way. They gave me quick and detailed (as much detail as one would need) to get to the conference room I was looking for. Great service. My wife also mentioned that their kitchen staff was really great, and the food was amazing!

There plentiful rooms for staying, and larger rooms for conferences. It is close to Iowa State University and a walking trail is situated around the premises. There is a pool and sauna room as well.

From Tx, visiting family. Bed was absolutely ridiculously comfortable. I want a new bed now! Room was quiet and clean. My only complaint is there wasnt anywhere to hang up towels, but it's not a first. The hottub was great too

Went there for a wedding reception. The room was very classy and large enough for all the attendees. The bar and wait staff were friendly, professional, and effecient. The hotel is very accomodating to its guests and would recommend the venue for any professional or social gatherings.

This is a fantastic place to stay. We were there for a Christmas party at the convention center and there were rooms available as well for anyone that chose to skip the cab ride. The staff was marvelous. The food that they served was absolutely amazing. I don't think my coffee was ever less than an inch and a half.

Definitely a great place to stay at or to have host an event.

We made reservations for Father's Day for 4 p.m which was unnecessary since we were the only ones there at that time. My husband and I ordered the salmon salad which was very good - I liked the sunchokes in the salad. Our son's salmon club sandwich was also good. We shared a complementary (for Father's Day) dessert of rum raisin bread pudding which was to die for. The waitress was friendly and attentive. All in all, a very nice experience.

Never stayed within "Clone Ground" in the Hawkeye state before, but was greeted warmly by Jonathan & later by Hanna. (Both students at that "other Iowa college" nearby)

Against Jonathan's advice I decided more level luggage cart piloting could be secured by Executive Entrance access. Three floor hikes later we eventually found an elevator that could negotiate access to the 7th floor.

The "classic" castle was fit for a king; very well maintained over the decades. Rooms are well lit, comfortably maintained climate control, and super beds. ( more mirrors please)

The Iowa Stater was pricey but delicious with Rose wholly in charge of delivering satisfaction.

Be staunch with your plastic, people. In-village automation will not vend for Washingtons and slug acceptors are in ill-repair. You're bound to revel in local snacks because proprietary goods close and mobility is needed to venture to around-the-clock pampering over the moat.

Exercise amenities were adequate but not too monstrous to be out of function. Too often, older places "X" the sauna, before long the hot tub follows, eventually the pool falls victim...and the balance gradually degrades on a decaying spiral flight orbit until a shell is left...and cheap.

OVERALL: BRAVO! (Silly Cy dreamers did surprise)
(My Galaxy apps beat the hotel's 20% off "direct billing" every night of our extended stay.) JS.

This is the second time I have been there for an event and have not been pleased either time. Food was just ok, nothing special. Was there with a group event and they ran out of both desserts they had offered. worst part was they had us crammed in there so tight I couldn't even stand up without hitting the person behind me. It was not a pleasant time for me.

I was there for the IHSSA Coaches Convention and everything was laid out well. The spaces were nice and worked well for the presenters. There could have been some more chairs in the hallway as we waited for the next sessions to start. Overall it was a good experience.

It's clean, comfortable, friendly staff, nice pool area, restaurant on property. About a minute from campus, Jack Trice Stadium is walking distance (if you're here for ISU event) Not too much else I'd ask for from a hotel.

Nice place overall helpful front desk folks, good food in restaurant, hot tub/pool, affordable rate. Solid shower, cozy towels. Also, three different pillows of three different firmness levels on each bed...luxurious!

Great that it s pet-friendly (and no pet fee!) but I m only slightly allergic to cats and the pet-friendly room I stayed in with my dog made my allergies go crazy, so I m not sure how clean they are. It definitely looked clean and was in good shape, though.

If it wasn t for that I d have given it five stars. There were also a couple dogs barking quite a bit at night and in the early morning, which is the owner s fault and not the hotels fault, but still annoying.

I d still definitely recommend this spot, and I would stay here again, but next time I d bring more allergy meds if I stay in a pet-friendly room.
