Needs an update to the rooms.

Thanks Dan for the update.I think it was probably a little short on my initial post. The staff are very nice and helpful. We were there during the fly fishing fair and it was busy but everything went smoothly. Always a good sign of a will run business. Would definitely visit again as the view of the front of the bay is beautiful

Lovely hotel looking out at the sea. I was here for a work event and stayed 2 nights. The rooms are very comfortable, food is really good too. The only negative is that the restaurant really does need a bit of updating. The decor in my opinion is quite dated and really drags the atmosphere down. It certainly doesn't match the quality of the food which was amazing. Really nice wine too. Staff are very helpful and apart from the small negative re the restaurant I can't fault this place

It is a beautiful hotel to stay in. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. The room was lovely, so comfortable. Very spacious room and bathroom. Both bath and shower facilities. The breakfast was delicious. Service with a smile! I have no complaints and would highly recommend the hotel. Looking forward to my next trip.

Very nice hotel. Very clean and seems very well managed, expect the after Covid impact of regulation's.
The hotel practice booking system for breakfast and pool, and it didn't work quite well for us. We only stayed for 1 night passing through, but booked this particular hotel (which was 40% more expensive than other local hotels) because we wanted to have a relaxing time in the pool, before continuing our travel next day. We weren't able to book a slot from the time of check in to check out time for 4 adults, even we were consider to split in 2 for different time. That's down to management as every customer should have been able to have the experience. Especially if you book more expensive hotel because it has a swimming pool.
Breakfast time was booked for 9:30am as we have online conference to attend at 11am, but the waiting in the line to be seated was 15 minutes, then it was about 10 minutes before we can order food, and by the time our food arrived it was 10:10am, which leave us with the small window to enjoy the breakfast. There was simply not enough staff to be able to keep up with the load of work, and therefore the breakfast (Irish fry) arrived cold but we couldn't even complain about it as we need to eat, have conference and check out to continue travelling. It works in other hotels, but I guess everyone coping with the situation different after Covid19 quarantine.
We stayed in different hotel the night before and it was nicer atmosphere, able to use the pool and no waiting for cold breakfast. Well done Carrickdale Hotel.
As the location is good, we would still recommend the hotel for a family break, but the staff for breakfast time should be organised better. Otherwise it's not enjoyable start of the morning.

Great hotel overlooking Galway Bay. Rooms are clean, comfortable and for the most part they use quality furnishing to finish. Wifi is reasonably fast and free and the showers have plenty of water pressure. This hotel in the summer as astronomical room rates. Would I pay more than 120 a night here probably not. At 120 and under I always book.

My first visit to this spa & it was a great experience from start to finish. I started with a swim, jacuzzi & sauna & I had the place to myself during a quiet time in the afternoon. It was glorious. Then I had my treatments with Helen, an excellent, highly experienced therapist. I knew as soon as she put her hands on me that she had been doing it for a long time. I had back massage, mini facial, head massage & arm & hand massage. It was bliss & the best value for money I've had in a spa. I then had a mini manicure with shellac polish to finish which was also flawless. I usually go to a place in town but I have to say this place was better value, better therapist ,& better location. On leaving it was lovely to come out & have a walk by the sea instead of coming out to busy city centre. I can't praise this place or Helen enough. I left feeling totally pampered & relaxed. My new go to spa by the sea. Much needed & appreciated me time at it's best. Thank you.

I booked direct by phone and the reservation was taken by a very polite, informative member of staff who demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and local knowledge.

Room 243 - 1st Feb - 3rd Feb. I was attending a convention here, for 2 nights. More than ample parking with an added underground level too. The hotel is ideally situated in the bay, within easy reach of every amenity one would need. I arrived much earlier than I expected and before the regular check in time. The staff at the reception desk were very welcoming and arranged an early check-in for myself and a colleague. I was impressed from the moment I arrived. The atrium style of the circulating area of the reception was relaxed, plenty of soft seating and a lovely sun deck with wicker furniture. Everything was well signed, however, I didn't need those as the staff upon check-in detailed everything to me and have me all the information I would need to get around. The bedroom was facing the ocean, the views were fantastic ( I recommend paying the small amount extra for an ocean view room ). The hotel is already situated perfectly in the bay but the view was an added bonus.

The room was very well appointed and was meticulously made up and ready. It was also spotless. Nice extra touches like toiletries, robes and slippers made it all the more comfortable. For a busy hotel, the landing I was on was particularly quiet. I was aware the hotel was fully booked but there were no intrusive noises from passing customers or housekeeping keeping up their splendid work. When I went down to eat, i had the opportunity to meet the duty manager as he was passing. He was already busy eith the convention but took time out to add an additional welcome, enquired whether everything was ok for me and gave me a few pointers.

I used the cafe for a carvery lunch, the restaurant for an evening and snacks in the bar ( wide variety of bar food ). We had a convention banquet the second evening plus breakfast in the mornings. The catering choices across the board was just right for each visit to each venue. However, the standard of food was very high indeed and clearly quality ingredients. They managed to provide this without charging very high prices.

In all, I enjoyed a lovely stay. Above all though, it was the hotel staff that made it for me. The coordination and teamwork through the hotel was seamless through each area. It's difficult to get this right and they have. An impressive high standard which made me feel valued and cared for. From reception, food and beverage, housekeeping and the manager in duty all the way were happy to help and I couldn't have expected or needed any more. They were all great ambassadors of the hotel and I shall return.

I travel frequently and use hotels frequently but The Galway Bay Hotel is memorable and outstanding for all the right reasons. The staff deserve an extra 'pat on the back' as they are the ones who present the hotel and it's fine range of quality facilities to the customer. They took every opportunity to make my stay a pleasant one. Which it very much was. Thank you

My mother has just returned from 5 days at the Galway Bay Hotel. She said she could not fault a thing and the staff would go out of their way to do anything for you. The sea view was lovely and the food was perfect. Will definitely return at the next chance available

The food at this hotel is disappointing to say the least. The rooms are pleasant enough but the bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. Staff were friendly, the location is fantastic, right on the promenade. Overall I wouldn't recommend staying here, there too much disparity between what you pay and what you get. For those staying in the summer months there's a quite loud funfair based right next door.

Fantastic stay. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. An exceptional customer service experience. The suite was clean and always refreshed when we returned from our day out. This was greatly appreciated. We were surprised so many members of the staff were shocked by our tips. I was born in Ireland with my 7 siblings and we immigrated to Canada. However, we always spent our holidays visiting relatives. My husband and I relocated 8 years ago due to employment. Perhaps our tipping is a family way or a Canadian way, as all our friends tip in the same manner.
Well deserved is all we can say.

WARNING DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL

WARNING DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL
I honestly don't know how all these people can leave such good reviews here. The hotel is pure cheek. 4 stars were justified 20 years ago. unfortunately not anymore. When we arrived we were really looking forward to the hotel. Overall, it was by far the most expensive hotel on the trip and then turned out to be the worst. First of all, the hotel is right next to a hype. In addition, the place Galway is now absolutely run down and extremely dirty.
In any case, we arrived and got a dirty old room that was too small with a view of the hustle and bustle. We then switched to a room right next to the entrance where the light through the broken curtain did not let us sleep. And now comes the greatest cheek: In a 4 star hotel no bed was made and not cleaned ... just sad! The only thing that was good were the nice ladies at the front desk who really tried to help us and the breakfast. The cheap restaurant is also a disaster, by the way. And to top it all, the specified outdoor pool is missing, which means that the entire much too small spa area is overcrowded.

Incidentally, we also left a very angry feedback.

Great scenery looking out on to Galway Bay. Spotlessly clean. Staff very courteous. However bar service very poor without being very busy. On pricing, a dash of cordial 90 cents IMO steep and a little rip off.
