Well, I was not expecting this at all! This place is amazing and very nicely managed and supervised, with knowledgeable guides who are actors playing the part of prisoners so well that you are transported back to pre-Victorian times. The place is very interesting, you get to see the Victorian courthouse and sit in judgement of the prisoners if you are lucky, and then you go directly to jaol yourself. The tour through the old prison cells is on many levels, decending from ost recent "on top" down to the original prison cells in the basement from the Norman period. It's a great place to visit and good for families with children especially if you book in to one of the guided tours with your own "prisoner" to show you round!
