It is a fairly small gallery but simply for the David it is worth going to visit it and pay the entrance fee.

It is very crowded and the queues tend to abound, even so if you are in Florence and you do not go through here it is like not having passed.

How can this not be a 5 star experience. David really is worth the trip. I bought tickets online the day before to skip the line and MY GAWD was I goad I did. We literally walked right in past a line of probably 200 people. Don't just take a picture of David and walk away. Take the time to appreciate his details and learn about what he means to Florence.

Not to be rude, but other than the David statue, there's not a whole lot the average tourist would like to see. The David statue is BREATHTAKING, though. My tip is to come on the first Sunday of the month because then admission is free.

The museum is very nicely presented and worth every single penny simply to see Michelangelo s David . It is genuinely even more impressive in real life than you could possibly imagine from photographs or film. If you are in Florence you HAVE to come to see it. Try to arrive before 09:30 and you can get away without a reserved ticket and only having to wait in line for a few minutes.

I really enjoyed all the art here. It's beautiful, and so many people just went to see David! Don't miss the musical instrument section, or the upper floors with some wonderfully vibrant art.

The main problem of the gallery that the Giant of Michelangelo is so dominating that most of the people says that "all other is not interesting", "nothong to see exept David".
But the galkery have really great collection of masterpieces.
But David is the first thing you see, so for a lot of people the gallery is ending here....

This place may be popular because of the original David, but honestly everything else is also worth seeing. There's a room full of marble statues by various artists, and truly unforgettable because it's literally full of bust sculptures. But the star of the museum definitely was David, the moment you saw him, you'll be taken aback by his grandeur. Went there on mid September, there was a queue but I only waited for around 20 minutes. Definitely must visit if you go to Firenze!

The venerable Michelangelo s David is stunning. You don t need a fine art background to appreciate the dynamic pose, proportions, and sensuality found in this block of marble. Not much else at the Galleria (dozens of of Medieval to early Renaissance triptychs, small musical instruments collection). Entrance wasn t well marked (right side). Poor flow/floor plan and lack of good signage, but has good lighting. Practically no queue when we visited (Dec 2018). Concessions for disabled given only with the EU disability card (only 8 countries participate in that program, and other Italian museums do let disabled visitors and companion in for free).

If you must choose, the Uffizi is definitely the place to go.

The best part of this museum is Michelangelo's sculptures and the large gift shop. The museum itself is small compared to others and crowded. There are benches to sit on if you are lucky enough to find a spot available.

Some fabulous sculpture, including big Dave.
Not as busy as I had thought, in August, but we went around 10:00 in the morning.
David is great, but the huge number of statues and the explanations of how they are copied and restored was great.

Here you can see the famous David and other sculptures by Michelangelo
Inside there are other sections including the largest and most important collection in the world of pictorial works with a gold background not to be missed.
In 2016 the museum circuit of the Accademia Gallery and Museum of Musical Instruments registered 1 461 185 visitors

The emotion of seeing yourself before Michelangelo's Davi is one of the most sensorial you can have !!! If you go to FLORENCE face the line at the Academy because you will not regret it !!!

It is useless to talk about the atmosphere that is inevitably created in front of the majesty of Michelangelo's David.
Immense, majestic, perfect. But the academy does not stop there: there is the music room dedicated to the instruments of the Medici era, there is the room of Michelangelo where one can also find his incomplete works, other rooms are dedicated to plaster sculptures of the students by Michelangelo and the Academy.

Inside there are some works that have made the history of the human being, including the grandiose David by Michelangelo. There is also a singular exhibition of musical instruments, in which there is also the possibility of understanding the functioning of a piano. I recommend booking the entrance, otherwise you have to wait in line for at least an hour and a half. I also recommend not to bring bottles over 0.5L: higher capacities are prohibited.

Hours: From Tuesday to Sunday - from 8.15 to 18.50
Price: 8 Euros
History: Founded in 1794 by Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo to serve as a place of study for
students of the Academy of Fine Arts nearby (Accademia di Belle Arti), the first drawing academy
of Europe, the Gallery of the Academy (Galleria dell Accademia) in Florence has in its possession some of the most

What to see:
1) Statue of David
Shortly after returning to Florence, Michelangelo was given the commission to transform an enormous and
imperfect white marble on a statue of David, the biblical assassin of Goliath. Working with
habitual seclusion, he completed at the end of 1504 the most famous work ever carved. With more than five meters
tall and incredibly bright, she eclipsed all of David's other statues, including his version of boy
made by Verrocchio and for which the young Leonardo had served as a model.
A more general criticism from Leonardo to Michelangelo was the argument that painting is an art form
superior to sculpture

Apart from the statue of David, there are other kinds of sculptures in different sizes and periods, and some paintings. There is not too much to do there, roof an hour of rotation and that too. Totally interesting and nice.

The museum is not very large and easy to visit. The highlight is the statue of David by Michelangelo. It is always worth purchasing advance tickets to avoid the long lines. The annoying part was that they didn't rent the audioguide without a passport.

The second most visited museum in the city with many pearls and a diamond .... to visit at times like we did, almost late at closing, with few visitors otherwise you cannot enjoy the show it offers and of course an audio guide that explains what you have before you.

When we visited, it gave us a "little" feeling. It is impressive to see David up close and we also liked to see the original "Rapture of the Sabine" but it is a museum that is small, short, in my opinion
There is also a room with old musical instruments

David and the Michelangelo sculptures are very impressive, but with the exception of a few specimens you can save the rest if you know your way around.
At the entrance it is very chaotic and very unfriendly security. I was there with my grandparents who have never visited Florence. They were treated very unfairly and inappropriately by a fat and small security employee. If you see this, please be careful ...

It is worth entering is through the David; It is a huge and incredibly detailed sculpture. The rest of the exhibition is not so striking.

Like everything in Florence, the lines are very long, so it is highly recommended to buy the tickets in advance

A tourist trap They put the statue of David here just to make more money. The place is tiny. I couldn't believe it when I saw it was over. Anyway the statue of David is spectacular !!

A very awe inspiring experience indeed but I will offer a few pointers. The first is to consider booking an express pass as the line is very very long. It is a bit pricier but could save up to 2 hours of your time. Once inside, Take a right towards the musical instruments section before heading to the actual statue of David. If you push it for later, you may miss it and not want to head in that direction. Another interesting tidbit: If you were wondering where the marble came from, look up a place called Marmo di Carrara.

Well worth a visit! We joined a local tour for a skip the line entry and guided tour around the museum. Well worth paying extra! I would not enjoy queuing for hours! The guide gave a great insight into the different pieces in the museum and the interesting stories behind them! There was nothing like seeing David in the flesh! It is an amazing work of art!

I am a Florentine who had never been to the academy
I visited this museum as soon as x COVID was possible
I was amazed that so many tourists had considered this museum "unmissable"
It seemed to me a dated set up with a beautiful sculpture (the David) and the series of beautiful post-Giotto paintings
IN FLORENCE THERE IS BETTER

One of the most famous sculptures known to mankind stands tall in this museum. "The David" was moved here from the piazza near the Uffizi where now stands a replica. So if you want to see the real thing, you should visit the Galleria dell' Academia. You can also find a ton of other sculptures and paintings here.

One star less because two important rooms have closed (including the Giotto one) due to Covid regulations, but the point is that there is no surveillance staff, not that the rooms are too small!
However, I had a great experience because without booking I didn't even wait for a minute in a row, on Sunday morning around 10:30.

Michelangelo's unfinished statues, the original David, the Gipsoteca, the paintings and tables of the Florentine Renaissance painters, the Music Museum and much, much more to see and admire.

Can I say my opinion? If you had only so much time to see Florence and there was a terrible line to enter the Accademia, I would suggest you to leave and visit some other place. More than the David (beautiful and whatnot, but it s one among many statues), Michelangelo s unfinished statue Prigioni and the collection of early Tuscan painters are interesting.
