The obvious attraction is Michelangelo's David, but make sure to check the collection of musical instruments owned by the Medicis!
The obvious attraction is Michelangelo's David, but make sure to check the collection of musical instruments owned by the Medicis!
Michelangelo's David is worth the price of admission alone!
David's vision alone would be enough to explain the importance and beauty of this museum
Small museum but worth the visit. Buy the Firenze Card and do the reservation first, you will save a lot of time.
The statue of David is the main feature of this museum, but there are other religious paintings and sculptures in the museum. This museum is a must see if you want to see Michelangelo's David. It's worth it if you want to see David and not if you want to see general Museum items. To avoid the lengthy queues book online before you go it's 16.50 Euro in total (1.50 euro booking fee). You pick up the tickets from your internet booking across the street from the museum from a little hole in the wall shop.
Amazing art pieces and interesting unfinished works. You have to make reservations or prepare to queue 2-3hrs. Standard tickets are 8eur but if you opt for guided tours skip the lines they are about 35!
Impressive museum, one of the best visits in the city. The David is really impressive, it is difficult to convey in a review, I am not an expert ... but its size, its posture, its technical perfection ... impress.
The rest of the museum is weak but I still totally recommend the visit even if you are only a short time in Florence.
It deserves 5 stars only for the David and other less famous statues. However, half of the museum is closed due to excessive covid precautions, a discount would be more appropriate. Price, however, in the end right.
David is a magnificence, even the rest of the gallery as the icons, the paintings, the musical instruments are a marvel
A very rich exhibition of works, certainly embellished by Michelangelo's masterpiece, the David.
Very well organized, with signs and directions for the various queues (booked and not booked) and for the routes to be taken inside the gallery, especially to avoid crowds.
Do not miss this treasure. Don't feel you have to see everything. Pay the money to get a skip the line ticket or you'll spend all day waiting to get in. Of course take time to see Michelangelo's "David". Behind this masterpiece there are a few benches. Take time here to rest and to see the statue from behind. Besides a really fine tusch you get a interesting, different perspective.
Of course, there hundreds of there gems here to enjoy. We were there in early April. It was very busy but not too crowded.
The enthusiasm to return is always the same every time. For citizens of all corners of the world this site is the fundamental step!
It is better to see the statue of David not only from the front but also around it.
I am a 14 year old boy who wanted to come to Florence on purpose to see the museums and especially the David and the birth of Venus (I know they are in two different museums) and I was amazed a lot.
Apart from this I know that it is not normal to be passionate about art at my age !!
The statue of David was great, definitely can't be missed if visiting Florence, it totally makes a difference viewing in Academia Gallery than looking at photos or the one outside Palazzo Vecchio or Piazzale Michelangelo.
Because it is complete you can see many works of art sculpture painting very beautiful
Can you express a better comment to what has already been said? Come back people. Crowd this place. The beauty of culture, the boundless expressive capacity of man awaits you.
Apart from the David there isn't much else. Much more interesting is the lesser-regarded Bargello.
Only this magnificent piece from Michelangelo is worth the visit. Buy your tickets in advance and enjoy David at the Galleria Dell'Accademia
We came to see the "real" David, which is indeed very impressive!!!...Goliath size...
Very special also to see Michelangelo's unfinished sculptures.
It is quite a small museum in comparison to the Ufizi, so for us much less than 1 hour sufficed.
We purchased tickets in advance for the afternoon and realized it was not necessary and 25% more expensive. So just buy accross the street at the ticket counter.
Digital QR scan is not available at the entrance so anyway need to go to the ticket counter.
The David is amazing!!!! How it can be carved from a single block of marble - and one rejected by other artists
Spectacular to see see works of miguelangel, boticelli, da volterra, the only caravaggio, Leonardo da vinci among many others is incredible!
The David is a masterpiece ... Simply unmissable in Florence.
Very small gallery, I also found the first floor closed, consequently the total stay was less than an hour. It is only worthwhile for Michelangelo's David and the plaster room. The price is excessive for what is proposed. Not exactly a priority to visit in Florence.
go see this gallery and especially the David which is nothing short of enchanting.
Very good. Very attentive owner, fair price, lots of food and very nice environment.
Beautiful gallery with lots of famous paintings, panels and obviously the statue of David, one important thing to know is that entry is free on Sunday
Some important piece of art are there. The most important one is David of Michelangelo.
The experience of coming around the corner and laying eyes on the David will NEVER get old for me. The art in this place is fantastic and they do a good job of crowd management. It's worth the money.
I loved. Everyone knows it, it is magnificent. The only thing that even having taken the entrance before, you have to queue to change for the entrance ticket. Nor would I recommend going in August, very hot, many people and many times you have to queue in the sun's rays
Amazing to see the original David's Michelangelo, but really nothing else to see there.
Place to visit to see the works of the masters. Go early because there are always a lot of people.
Main attraction is David. There are also some beautiful artworks and sculptures.
I can t even describe how awesome it was to see David in person! I also loved learning how they did all the sculpture molding, shaping and details. This is a must not miss when visiting Florence Italy Just a lovely museum for strolling through a little bit of history!
A great place. No one can leave Florence without seeing the David. Everything very careful. Go early because many people go. If they go with backpacks, do not bring flammable things or aerosols. They have very good care with people with disabilities. Don't sacrifice flash photos
The entrance is very expensive count 70 to 3 to have the tickets and audio guides ... unfortunately they take advantage of it because there are many essential things to see when you come to visit Florence ... so to see but Dear ...
Beautiful Gallery although inferior to the Uffizi. There are beautiful works of art from the Madonna and child by Botticelli to the rat of the Giambologna sabins in plaster (the marble one is located in Piazza della Signoria Loggia Landi) but when you get to the Michelangelo salon everything else goes into the background, the David alone deserves the ticket. To avoid queues, especially on weekends, I recommend making the ticket online, it saves a lot of time. It is sufficient to show up half an hour before the scheduled time at number 45 always in via Ricasoli (in front of the entrance of the same gallery) and in five minutes you enter.
The biggest highlight in the museum is David and several unfinished statues. Compared with other museums in Florence, it may be a bit inferior, but at least I have seen David's true face. The video on how to reproduce the sculpture in another cabin is worth watching.
Michelangelo's David is spectacular. An accomplished symbol of Medici power in the Florentine Republic of 1500. One is speechless at his sight. Perfect from any angle. Result of the genius of Michelangelo Buonarroti. Inside there are also the "prisons", works by the same master of art. In them it is possible to see the "unfinished" technique typical of Buonarroti.
The beauty of Michelangelo's David can overshadow all the works of art found in the Accademia Gallery. It is impressive to enter the room and see this work of art in all its splendor. Words are needed to explain the immensity of this work. Before seeing it, I suggest that you read about it and then observe it in all its angles.
In the end the museum is smaller than i thought, but still a visit worth. But there's definitely more to see than just David, so take you're time.
I recommend booking you're tickets beforehand to get around the queue.
The statue of David is bigger than I expected, and I feel Michelangelo's awesomeness. If you go at 8 o'clock in the morning, you can see it in a row.
Absolutely outstanding!! It is a must see!! Michael Angelo was beyond talented, he was gifted! Irina Emchenko was our tour guide and she knew her stuff!! Her email is irina.emchenko@gmail.com . When you come to see David email her for a personal tour!! Very knowledgeable!!!
Great place for italian art and the david statue. But buy skip the lines tickets beforehand
One of my favorite places in the world to visit. Always takes my breath away. Do yourself a favor and buy your ticket in advance.
It's all about Michaelangelo's David but there are other very special paintings and a nice sculpture video which are very interesting, but David is magnificent!
Loved seeing all the amazing sculptures and was definitely a highlight of our holiday in Florence
Main attraction is Michelangelo's David. Yes they built the place just for him but he is so far up it's difficult to get a good picture.
The Accademia Gallery is famous for a group of works by Michelangelo including the beautiful David and paintings from the Florentine school from the century. Xlll at the Renaissance. It is a very important museum to see and review, because the exhibited works are of a unique beauty and capture the attention of visitors and it often happens to see people immobile in a form of meditation in front of beauty and harmony. that certain works convey.
Happy to have prebooked the tickets. The queue can be very long. David is exquisite! Though David is one of the main display, there are so many brilliant pieces. This is a special place which you have to experience. Thoroughly enjoyed visiting.
A must see in Florence. Make sure you pre-book your tickets to avoid long queues
Crowded, worth the visit but ticket price very expensive.
It is worth seeing if only to see the David! It is a marvel of a statue, one of the best works in the world.
The entire gallery is very good, very full of paintings and Christian elements of the time, as well as numerous sculptures in marble and other stones (highly recommended for art lovers).
Without a doubt the best, and the central reason for the visit (in addition to where more time is invested) is Michelangelo's David: simply spectacular.
The only downside is the fact that you are forced to select a time when picking up tickets online, since then it is neither respected nor really serves to manage the flow of people.
You breathe the unique beauties that only our country can boast. Museum organized well, as expected.
Michelangelo's David and the Michelangelo prisons are very beautiful. To the left of the David there is an interesting room with spectacular plaster casts. The queue to enter is unheard of: a full hour while it was for the uffizi the queue was about 30 minutes. Interesting and not too expensive.
excellent in the spiritual, intellectual, moral and aesthetic sense
This place left me awe struck. Didn't want to leave it. David's sculpture is beyond amazing. I loved it
Great little art gallery. Lots of art. If you like art, its a good place. Each room has one of those explanation sheets for the paintings in each room, so it made it really interesting even if you have no background in art. They also have a place for you to store luggage. Would recommend skipping the audio tour. I didn't think it was worth the money....its like one painting per room. Maybe. Just use the papers. :)
Beautiful not comparable to the Uffizi but equally beautiful. The presence of David, the location of the statue itself are worth a visit. Basically liturgical works. But also sculptures by Michelangelo. Beautiful beautiful. To visit.
Small gallery, but full of art history, it has sculptures of great value
If you have little time to visit museums, you should visit it. It passes full but it flows. There are many things to see.
It wasn't really my thing but afficionados of religious art would love it. For them it is highly recommended.
If you see nothing else in Florence, the David us a must. Buy your ticket online at least a week before to get a good entrance time and to avoid waiting in line. Make sure to find the official Accademia website not a third-party
Fourteenth-century painting of the highest value, especially the minutiae on a golden background; precious and enchanting collection of plaster casts, where it seems to be able to speak with the statues; some paintings and the unsurpassed masterpiece of Michelangelo's David
David is an impressive masterpiece. There are coins in which you forget that it is a statue and it seems that it is going to speak to you. We have to see it. There was not as much queue as I expected. The rest of the museum lazy, the curious musical instrument area.
Fantastic! I could have spent a couple more hours there easy.
Interesting paintings, but the main reason for going is David.
You have to see. A tip buys the tickets in advance, then the waiting time is minimized.
A nice little museum which has very beautiful pieces including statues such as the statue of David. On the other hand, even The student rate is interesting, full pot without reduced rates I find it quite expensive for what it is ...
woawww !!! there are no words to describe such beauty
David is the must visit in Florence so this place is no doubtfully one of the most crowded one.
It's a well organized Gallery, has some important Michael Angelo exhibits.
Surely David is the main attraction.
The rest is there but can hardly compete with "a lot" of substance.
Personally, I found the Prisons at least engaging.
The plaster room is also stimulating.
On the side of the museum of instruments, as a music lover I very much appreciated.
Viewing 10cm pieces of Stradivarius is not an everyday experience.
Worth the visit
There is reason David is so popular :) - amazing how his expression changes when one walks around him. Exhibitions of textiles and musical instruments in the gallery were also worth seeing.
It is worth it just to see the statue of David, impressive size and details.
