Excellent paint collection. The temporary exhibition of impressionists and photography, highly recommended
Excellent paint collection. The temporary exhibition of impressionists and photography, highly recommended
Beautiful ground floor with surrealism and modern art, beautiful foreground with impressionists, boring second floor with ancient works and Renaissance landscapes
Fantastic and diverse collection. Quiet and not crowded.
It's really more like 3.5 stars but I can't give that extra half.
Very nice collection of paintings. Greatly enjoyed as a non-connoisseur.
With a proper guide who can explain the idea behind the collection it's a great place to visit. Otherwise can be confusing.
The world's largest private art gallery, thanks to (say the decisive word ...) Carmen Servers (formerly "Miss Spain")
"reborn" into a delightful
State Art Gallery in Madrid ...? Yes. Exactly. Museum funds include more than a thousand works of art from the last 8 centuries. The German industrialist Baron Henry began to collect this collection in the 20s of the last century.
Thyssen-Bornemisza (he managed to acquire 525 paintings). After his death in 1947, works
went to the heirs ... Son
Baron - Hans decided to reassemble the collection ... It turned out, but there was catastrophically small space in the Favorite villa, in the Swiss town of Lugano ... In search of a new home for the treasures of painting, a choice, in a stubborn competition with other applicant countries , fell in Madrid (the best conditions were offered, well, and the patronage of the wife of the baron helped this choice ...). In 1993, Spain acquired the property (they say for 232 million pounds)
this collection ... Currently, in 16 new halls and 4 sections various schools and schools are represented
European painting ... A trip to this museum is interesting and required (free - on Mondays, from 12 to 16 hours).
The museum's collection is impressive, it has works of all kinds and for all tastes. I highly recommend visiting the museum with a lot of time and paying for the audio guide, since if it is not done it is difficult to understand everything that is being seen. Temporary rooms are always very interesting.
Very beautiful. A great collection of works of art. I visited the museum on a day when admission was free, but there was no queue and people in the halls, allowed the viewing of paintings, with no problems.
Wonderful ... You can do different routes, very complete and manageable ... the exhibition of divine sorolla ...
We are facing a typical museum and a mandatory visit before passing through the capital. It's very good and the permanent exhibition is simply wonderful
Wonderful and with benches for when we want to admire the works but we are tired.
I really like this Museum. It allows a complete tour of the history of painting from the Middle Ages to the 70s.
However, the division of collections duplicates this chronological journey.
Essential. It has happened to me like in the Prado, I have dedicated a whole day and I have left saturated. There is too much art to assimilate in a single visit.
Great museum for which you should definitely plan some time. In addition, it is beautifully located and housed in a modern building. The temporary exhibition had been open for a very long time, so you could do it well in the evening.
Amazing museum considering it was a private collection, full of art from all periods really gives a great journey through the development of art.
A painting of the elephant-hunting lover king Juan Carlos (+ long suffering saintly wife) welcomes you ominously to this maze. Half of it is dedicated to hundreds of baby Jesus & obese maids. Once you reach the impressionism section you might be too knackered. A couple of Renoir & Monet aside, once l stumbled trying to get out of this giant laberynth, my advice is don't bother trying to follow "fire exit signs" (please God, nothing to ever happen in there!) for they led to closed/banned exits. The best part is when thanks to a dozen of helpful staff (who agreed that the signage was diabolical) you come up with the sight of the shop, which meant you somehow reached freedom!
I wouldn't say was a bad Museum for I would qualify it as a Maze with some stuff hanging .
On a positive note , after it you will find the (bigger in size) Reina Sofia or el Prado Paradise on Earth .
Give Thyssen a go if you are struggling with suicide ideation: if you don't suffer heart failure trying to exit you will forever cherish life & freedom! ;)
Just sitting in front the Prado museum a must see for any art enthusiast thanks tonite extensive collection and one time exhibitions.
A large museum with a large background and excellent thematic samples. Very good cafeteria restoran.
I like everything about Thyssen and I love your store
It's an amazing museum, make sure to have the time to enjoy it thoroughly!
It has a great variety of artists, one of the most complete collections from SXVI art to modern works, my recommendation is to see it in 2 days, it has a lot and to appreciate it and not end up exhausted. It has the advantage that you can leave and enter it with the same entry, which allows you to go for coffee and return, particularly the impressionism collection is quite complete, with Monet, Manet, Pizarro, among others
Huge amount of works of art, although put to the taste of its owner.
Monday 12: 00-4: 00 Free time zone visit. Not many people. It is recommended to go for three hours or more. I feel different from Prado, but personally I was better than Prado.
A great pictorial collection, a unique journey through the history of art. Indispensable if you go to Madrid
Amazing collection. It is so vast and varied, and really well organised. The building is fantastic.
A beautiful museum not to be missed with works of art to suit all tastes.
Simply sublime
Balthus' magnificent exhibition
Although now you would be notified of pedophile
It is an International level Museum, with works of great value and interest. The Organization and Museography of 10. Bravo for its managers!
It did not have many works, but the ones it has are of great quality ... There is always an interesting expo ...
Beautiful museum with an incredible gallery! A must when in Madrid!
I love this collection. If I lived in Madrid, I would be here all the time. They have a lot of American Art which is unusual for a European museum.
Do not miss the visit of this museum, the collection of works is really remarkable both from the quantitative point of view and for their beauty. The chronological location starting from the second floor to go down favors the organization of the visit and the enjoyment of the masterpieces. The essential and exhaustive audio guide is also excellent at the same time. The opportunity for free entry on Mondays is a real gift. Thank you.
Amazing visit. It takes time because there is a lot of culture to absorb.
Beautiful, one of my favorites. The only thing that would take away is the color of Salmon Salmon all around the walls, horrifying that it tires the eye and diminishes the importance of the works.
The collection is impressive. The works are wonderful. A fantastic journey through art. Highly recommended your visit.
A must to visit in Madrid, an impressive museum with a huge collection of paintings !
Definitely my favorite museum in this beautiful city. It has a bit of everyone, since the revival of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, flamenco art, impressionism, post impressionism and expressionism of the twentieth century. In fact, they have many works by Kandinsky.
Spectacular museum, gathers a large number of works of art from the last centuries and from different aspects. There is one room in particular that surprised me that had almost all the great expressionism and impressionism together. It is fantastic that on Mondays from 12 a.m. to 4 p.m. the entrance is free, so you can visit this piece of museum just for the love of art. Never better said.
One of the best museums in Spain very interensante and its bar is very good and the store inside the museum also its Events
I was surprised by how many works of art there are. I did not expect so much. Very well organized
Nice museum. Couldn t see the special Rembrandt exhibition during the free hours.
Wonderful exhibitions, clean and super elegant place. Enough staff and always very attentive. Siemore I can go and I repeat not only to see exhibitions but also to deepen in the permanent exhibition ...
Fantastic, really a pleasure to go. As a very well managed private entity. I will repeat
Beautiful, especially the collection of Carmen Thyssen. The permanent collection a bit repetitive ...
Fabulous museum The paintings are very well preserved and the placement is very pedagogical. It covers from the Gothic to the 20th century.
Included in the 3 head museums of Madrid. Distinguished by excellent logistics. The museum exposition covers from the 12th to the 20th century
The best art museum I have visited. A pleasant oasis to wander for hours.
What can you say about the museum?
A must for those who visit Madrid and like culture.
Extensive collection that covers centuries of art history, paintings from all eras and authors.
You have to visit it.
We liked it a lot.
It was a leisurely visit in which we had occasion to be in front of very beautiful paintings, and of very important painters.
The visit is made with our children.
And the truth is that we enjoy it. We spend a lot of time listening to your questions and thank goodness that next to the tables there are some tablets with the most relevant data.
We have brought a pleasant memory and we will surely return.
Congratulations to the design and development team of Balenciaga and Spanish Painting. Insuperable....
Very nice and welcoming .... when I went there was an exhibition of Picasso .... very surprising experience.
Essential museum if you like the art of the twentieth century and the avant-garde
Very nice, nice really beautiful works of art is not wasted. The bar very good, attention everywhere. Something to note that without loving El Prado. This me when going with my father who is an older person is easily accessible and all the floors have a bathroom.
Great quality in the works, I will return since their exhibitions are always very interesting.
Hals, Caravaggio St. Catherine, great American art - a place you can spend the whole day
An extraordinary and vast collection for art lovers
I love visiting this museum frequently because of how quiet it is and because its dimensions make the visit more accessible.
I loved watching especially the Degas Dancer and the "Hotle Room" by Edward Hopper. Highly recommended!
The Balenciaga exhibition has enchanted me. Thank you
Absolutely fabulous collection beautifully presented
Very cool, recommended if you are in Madrid, every time there are different exhibitions.
Very nice place to go, across the conservatorium!
From the elevator there is also a view..
Beautiful art collection and quite big. It is tho a bit of a maze to walk around, you might pass the same room twice.

The Fundación Colección Thyssen-Bornemisza is a museum located in Madrid, Spain. It is one of the most important art museums in the world, with a collection that spans from the 13th century to contemporary art. The museum was founded by Baron Hans Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza and his wife Carmen Cervera in 1988.
The museum's collection includes over 1,000 works of art, including paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts. The collection is divided into seven different sections: Early Italian Painting; German Renaissance and Baroque Painting; Dutch Painting; Flemish Painting; English Painting; French Painting; and American Art.

The Fundación Colección Thyssen-Bornemisza is located on Paseo del Prado in Madrid. This area is known as "Paseo del Arte" because it houses three major museums: El Museo Nacional del Prado (the National Museum), El Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (the Reina Sofia Art Center), and El Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza (the National Museum).
