horrible. large place. many empty shelves and terriblu void displays. but the worst part was that i had a weird experience outside in the parking lot after i had purchased several items from the store that we're not even what I went for. i was taking a small plastic bag of garbage back to put into the garbage can that i had removed from my vehicle. the garbage can was one of the two large ones out in front of the main entrance. they can only be there for garbage. an unknown man, that i can only assume worked at the store, got out of a parked car in front of the business. he walked up to me in the parking lot and said "we do not allow the dumping of garbage, this is private property". i thought this was very strange, since i wasn't dumping garbage. i was putting it in a trash receptacle that is meant for that exact purpose. i consider the dumping of garbage to be the act of leaving garbage on the ground someplace where it is not meant to be. sorry fry's, but if you think that it is better to leave garbage somewhere on the ground that it is not meant to be, rather than in a trash receptacle that is for that purpose, then you are an enemy of the environment. i can no longer do business with you. good luck with all that, and your pending bankruptcy and massive layoffs due to weird business philosophies such as this one.

Lots and lots of stuff in the huge Sunnyvale megastore. They promise to match internet prices, but can they match internet service? They've got this promo code system, where you sign up on their website to receive codes via email for discounts on select promotional products. You have to present the code at checkout to get the deal, which I find quite archaic and cumbersome - not what one might expect from Silicon Valley's premier electronics superstore. And when I tried buying a promo item, the promo code didn't even show up in their system - I had to go through the hassle of getting a manager involved just to get the price that was clearly marked on the shelf. Hmm, think I'll keep buying mostly on the internet. But still it can be entertaining to browse around such a big store, especially for out-of-town folks, many of whom have oft heard tell of the awesome wonders of Fry's Electronics.

Nobody around these stores to help.

Nobody around these stores to help.
I'm standing in line now with 30 other people and we have one checker and two people behind the counter looking at us with blank "don't care at all" faces.
Same experience most times I come to these stores.

A shadow of it's former self. Matches internet prices sometimes ( looks for excuses not to), in this same vein staff agruementative. I'd miss them if they'd fail but really... Parking v lot is empty.

I bought a toaster oven and the Fry's electronics warranty. It broke down. So I called and they said they would replace it. They asked me to come in and bring the broken oven back to where I bought the oven. They didn't have it in stock and so they issued me a store credit. I went to see if they had the same oven and they did not. Now I do not have an oven and I am stuck with just a store credit.

I asked if they could fix the oven and they could not. So I'm guessing the store warrantee only works if you keep planning to buy a Friday electronics. This is the Sunnyvale location.

I will not buy the warantee or any electronics items from Fry's because of how there warantee process is and best buy would be the place to go .

This is the worst Fry s store I ve been to. All the shelves are practically empty. They have an entire wall dedicated to switches, with maybe 4 products hanging among the many blank placards. The graphics card aisle is picked clean. This is the second time I ve been here, and it seems to just always be like this.

Also, apparently nobody works here. Good luck finding an employee in the cavernous, empty store.

Asked for FF jumper wires, but was brought to the aisle with jumper cables for cars. Sales rep in the computer hardware section didn't know what a breadboard was, and could not help me find a voltage regulator. At least they were friendly.

This is my goto place for everything I need. The promo code they send out has saved us a lot. Returns are easy and very helpful staff. The only thing that did not workout for me is the printer ink refill.

I have been going to this Fry's for years. The staff is helpful, but not always too knowledgeable. I usually research what I want before going to buy it. For most part the sales are unbeatable.

This is the Vegas school of business applied to electronics retail. All Fry's are themed (western, space, Mayan, etc) Going downhill since their heyday in the 80s and 90s. Lots of deals drag you in. Incredible breadth of complex products with no depth and staff that are low paid, but get a commission. Makes for a bizarre experience.

I appreciate having actual brick-and-mortar stores around, especially for urgently needed computer or electronics components. I'm also fine with paying extra as compared to online shops or direct import. Sadly, Fry's are still trying to compete on price first and thus offer many extremely low-quality items at a price a well-made alternative would cost online. As much as I would like to support a local shop, quality issues have relegated Fry's to a last resort for me.

Great place for any electronics' geek or a complete beginner. You can find pretty much anything. Prices are low compared to other stores of this kind. I can recommend this store to anyone.

It's a mediocre place. Hard to find someone to help you as the place looked like a ghost town. Their prices aren't the cheapest either. They match online but I rather get stuff on Amazon unless I literally need it today.

Best frys in the area.

Best frys in the area.
It's bigger and pretty much has whatever you need in electronics.
They do offer price match with online prices from some retailers. So worth the check, for some products before you pay.

the store is pretty spacious - likely bigger than any other electronics store around, and also has a small coffee shop inside.

used to love this place, would come to just walk around and find new stuff, but lately it just seems like alot of cheap stuff with marked up prices, i dont go there for "deals" because they always sold out or the dumb coupon garbage, dont go for new stuff because often its open box or trashed, if i need a component and just dont have the time to go to rshughes or anchor then ill go here.

Your run of the mill electronics store. They're pretty good with price matching and offer decent pricing. Every now and then as a promotion, they offer to pay sales tax. Considering the sales tax in California if consider that pretty good.

On the negative side the store is pretty huge with minimal help available to locate items or to pickup items that are in lock and key. A better way to circumvent this would be to arrange a store pickup from their online store

I'd call it closer to 2.5 stars, but whatever. Fry's is a silicon valley institution, and probably the only place you can get radio coax cable, mini Bowie knives, LED chips, and wristwatches - all in the same aisle. These days, Fry's is probably the only place you can get CB radio parts at all. I can forgive the surly salespeople, especially since they seem to hide from you these days. I can forgive the receipt checkers. I can even forgive the utter lack of organization. There is no place left like this, and when prime isn't fast enough it is good to have it around.

This place is completely empty. nothing in stock. It's so sad waking through there. Used to love browsing through new computer parts and accessories when I was younger. Now this is like a trip to Vallco Mall...

Would not accept a return on defective product because I didn't have all the original packaging. I always want to support local retailers, otherwise soon we won't have a choice but to buy EVERYTHING from Amazon. But these guys really let me down, and I admit I took solice in knowing soon they'd be unemployed.

Fry's is simultaneously great by its selection and breadth of stuff they sell and bad with their clingy salespeople and not always great prices.
They do have pricematching but it can be tricky finding it on the proper website and seller, and then it involves a manual process to get it reduced.

Still it's a great retail place to browse in and to try physical devices (headphones, speakers, computer accessories etc) since their selection is so great.
Especially useful for a last minute cable or computer part that would take too long to get shipped.

Entire empty sections (hdd/ssd, motherboards, memory, flash drives, keyboards, mice, etc.) with signs saying "check out our online deals". Large swaths of empty warehouse space. Is this place going out of business?

If I'm going to checkout online deals from Fry's, I'm going to check out online deals elsewhere too. And Fry's isn't a leader in pricing or customer service online....

Really pushy sales people who made up information and we're unaware of their own promotions. The head sales person became really rider when I wouldn't buy there extended warranty. He then kept telling me that I needed a promo code when it was a general no-tax sale promotion being ran. Used to be a great store.

Frys has an amazing selection; whenever I need an emergency component they are right down the street. With Amazon and new egg price matching, there s no excuse not to come in. Return policy is also great.

The only reason for the 4* is the lack of knowledgeable employees. I often spend time dealing with misinformed employees, however most do try their best!

I was surprised with how much merchandise was missing from the shelfs. And how much they had tried to make the store full. They also seem to have cut back on in-store staff. I am hoping this is just the fall retooling and not an indication that the business is having problems.

Sunnyvale store has greatly reduced their in-store inventory recently, hoping you'll order items to be picked up later at store. Makes comparison shopping harder; I doubt if they'll succeed with this strategy.

I order online if I see something I want on sale in their weekly flyer and go in to pick up, otherwise I'm not crazy about shopping there, been there several times where the price they rang up was more than the price tag on the shelf and it required me to take them to the item location to prove I wasn't lying about the price.

You can find anything in this store. Bad experience with extended warranty . They always blame it on your "software" to exit from liability of honering the warranty you paid for it heaps. I always avoid extended warranty at fries, they always found a loop hole to not honor it, heard same from many ppl.
