Niche products available, arts and crafts at high quality
Great shop with a relaxed atmosphere and huge range of products. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Love coming here as the products are tasteful, good quality and beautiful. Yes they are a bit pricier for stationary than your high street shops like WH Smith but you pay for quality.
Art and craft supplies are abundant with wide range (eg. Knitting, clay, painting etc) and are of decent price compared to other art suppliers.
If you like to craft, this is the ONLY place to go. Its amazing. They have everything you could want or need.
Great place for art stock. Not so sure about diversity of stock.
Easily the best art shop in Manchester, they always seem to have exavtky what I need for a project
Really good place for all things craft - if they don't have it in stock, it probably isn't worth having. An artist's dream.
A great shop for art supplies and creative gifts. Plenty of ideas for all ages.
Comprehensive range of arts and craft materials ...very helpful and courteous staff ...
Amazing selection of art and craft materials. For beginners to professionals alike!
An Aladdin's cave of art materials. Cannot visit without buying something amazing!
Great staff, hreat choice of art and craft materials. A bit addictive.
Such a selection! Much never on the inside. They have just about everything you will ever need.
Cool craft shop with some interesting things. Appears to stock mostly high quality items too.
If you love arts and crafts, you'll love Fred Aldous. It has everything. And even if you just want to check somewhere new out - go and visit. Great for card and papers etc. Staff helpful. There is a downstairs too!
Fantastic shop if you like art, crafts or anything like that. I find it hard not to spend all my money here
Great selection of arts and craft supply. Sometimes a little pricey on some items but everything is together! The staff knows where everything is as well if you needed help
Would like to say Fred Aldous have been very helpful . They are quick and efficient to sort out problems . their site is easy to navigate with real people to talk to .
Highly recommended .
Cpuld get lost in here happily
3 floors of amazing stuff
Huge choice of products, OK prices, staff can have a little 'too cool for school' attitude though.
Amazing shop, full of random stuff I would have never thought of getting! Quirky and fun!
Found some stuff I needed in the sale section. Price seems to be competitive
Huge. Sells everything arts and crafts related. Knowledgeable friendly service.
Absolutely amazing in here. For all your art and craft needs. I'm so glad I've found this place. The staff are really friendly and welcoming too.
I can't decide if Paparchase is better or this place. Biggest difference is that you can have things made here, great workshops downstairs for you to explore.
Can pretty much find anything arts or craft related here. Sometimes a bit pricey.
Everything Arts and crafts you'll ever need and more fun stuff, plants...
Pretty good selection of art materials, not as good as H Blyth and Co that recently closed down across the road but still not bad.
I wish I could buy everything in this shop, amazing place
A must-visit place for artists or accessories lovers. This massive shop has 3 floors full of stuff, mostly accessories for making handcrafted objects like materials, books, etc but also it is full of other cute things. It is recommendable if your are desperate to find a present.
Great range from toys and sticking fillers to decent art supplies, 3 floors of temptation. School of craft also runs great sewing courses in the basement.
A bit like Hobby craft except better and independent.
Have shopped at Fred Aldous since1973 and always been welcomed and served with a smile from the staff
One of the best art/craft stores I have ever been in! Books, party stuff, paints, gifts and lots of stuff. Go downstairs and they even have Airfix model kits that I built as a boy!
Diverse range of materials; art and craft. Look downstairs as upstairs is more like a gift shop.
Friendly atmosphere, helpful staff. Fantastic range of art materials from plastecine, clay, paints, canvases to unusual books and artistic ornamentation. Established in Manchester for over 140 years. A much needed source for those who have an artistic flair.Numerous types of paper and other raw craft materials.
Best shop in Manchester? Might be. Great for gifts and crafts, packed with good stuff over 3 floors
I love this store, I have many happy memories of visiting as a child with my grandma and now I love going there myself. Wide range of art materials and gifts.
For me this was a hidden life saver, in Manchester looking for Fimo polymer clay and Google maps took me straight to it hidden up Lever St. Fred Aldous has loads of different crafts, a good amount of stock and very welcoming, the staff that helped me give me all the advice I needed on the polymer clay I was wanting.
Thank you defiantly be back.
delighted with my product and delighted with service.
I do not live anywhere near this shop, so my order was posted, and arrived in good time, so pleased with the service.
To the person who was refused entry because you didnt have a mask, I am glad this shop had the strength to refuse you entry into the shop. Nobody like wearing these things, but to keep our shops open and everybody a little safer, its a small price to pay
Very good craft shop..a Manchester cornerstone for some years now
Great shop, wide variety of stock, but didn't have what I wanted from the haberdashery, otherwise would have been rated higher.
It is a bit expensive used to the prices of Spain but if you like crafts and design products it is a great place to get lost, they are 3 floors with cutting-edge products and all kinds of materials to make your own, even having services of 3d printing and laser cutting
Great choice of products and friendly and helpful staff
Great choice got exactly what I was looking for staff are really great
If you are a creative, its like visiting a candy shop. A great selection of craft materials
Really like this shop. Went in for a notepad but could have ended up buying loads. Really friendly staff too. Imagine they'd be helpful if you had a question but as I needed a notepad didn't really need any advice.
Quite inspiring. Not cheap but that's because products are quality
Everything you could want for pretty much any art project all under one roof - and helpful interested staff too!
I would like to call myself an artist and Fred Aldous definitely inspires my wallet into thinking that too!
If you do any type of arts and crafts, this store is definitely somewhere you need to take a trip to! The main floor is full of stationary, cards and niknaks, similar to that of Paperchase, but downstairs is where you really want to go! Rows upon rows of pens, pencils, paints, fabrics, bits and bobs... Literally anything for your arting needs!
When I go in here, I limit myself to how much I can spend or else I'm in danger of spending far too much!
Amazing place just crammed with everything and anything crafty. Serious supplier of everything you might ever need to do anything arty. Just a place to browse and gaze and be amazed at what can be done.
Knowledgeable staff and a whole host of services offered, plus two genuine old photo booths for those passport pictures of a certain style.
Two hidden floors below ground just packed with artistic delights.
Excellent selection of papers and technical pads, everything you need in one place.
You can find anything for crafts or creative projects.
So much stuff here, found some things I didn't know I needed. However didn't have the wood strain I'd hoped to find.
Fabulous service - incredibly helpful and super-efficient with it.
Not my usual kind if store but my Mrs who does Calligraphy etc absolutely loves this store. We visited twice in two days. Theres 3 floors (the third is like a drop down really) but they have so much!! If you're after notebooks, stationary or painting stuff take a look here.
Absolutely wonderful shop for those wanting arts and craft supplies. Even if you don't, it's still worth a look as there's great ornaments and knick-knacks.
Prepare to spend time in this Aladdin's cave for artists and crafts people. If you're short of inspiration, they have a great stock of books too. I was too absorbed to think of taking photos but will do next time.
Ordered yesterday afternoon and received parcel this morning...wow . Brilliant service.
Intresting products in the store. Displayed in a visible way. The price of some might be a little bit lower.
Great selection, lovely and knowledgeable staff, reasonable prices
I wasn t allowed in the shop because I was asked to prove I am medically exempt from wearing a face mask which I refuse to do and shouldn t be expected to share that information with strangers. I won t be shopping here ever again now. I More
My favorite store in Manchester, you will find gifts to surprise anyone and accessories for what you need.
Some really cool stuff. You just need to take some time to look around
An amazing place. Any craft that one is interested in is catered for. The staff are brilliant, very patient, friendly and most helpful.
Just the place for aspiring artist...everything you need that doesn't cost the earth.
I have been shopping around to find my two littles ones Blockitecture Big City as a joint present for Christmas (joint because it is expensive) - having found the present at a much lower price than elsewhere I thought there must be a compromise - but no - great price, great website, free postage & tracking (unlike some competitors), and arrived quickly and in perfect condition - not shopped with Fred Aldous Ltd before but will be doing so again - really good service.
Variety of products. Tidy and modern store. Staff are very friendly.
Enormous one-stop-shop for every craft or art supply you could ever need.
I've been a fan of Fred work is since the 90s and their very 90s mail order service. This site was fab! It's 3 floors of craft p*rn the upper floor appears like a craft book store but go down a floor an it's a whole warehouse of crafting goodness! The lowest floor is a bunker of paper/ flat arts and crafter workshops. If I'd had more time the laser cutting would have been a definite lurking spot! All very well organized and sectioned although as a resin crafter it would have been nice to see more pigments but I can always use their web shop. Def worth a look and the fabric arts section was amazing! Also more types of glitter than I have ever seen!!!
Nearly every craft and art item you need and in a city centre too
One of my favourite shops!! It's never let me down for anything I have needed to find arts and crafts wise or gifts!
