An Aladdin's cave of all things creative, if its not here it doesn't exist!
Very large crafts shop. Don't be fooled by the ground floor, downstairs is an artists and crafters dream!
Fred's is more expensive, much dearer than online suppliers. Very sad but needs must in these uncertain times.
Best art shop in Manchester, if they don't have it, no one does
Great arts and crafts shop in the centre of Manchester. The highlights are the vintage photobooths
Such amazing supplies I could spend hours here everything you could ever need and stuff you didn't know you needed
Walking around Fred's is one of the most amazing experiences, so vast and delightful
Excellent range of products, friendly and helpful staff.
A truly amazing range of products for every type of creative hobby imaginable. From candle making to picture framing, knitting, photography and painting. This shop has a tremendous range and is definitely worth a visit. I cannot recommend this store enough, go and visit, you'll love it
great bunch of guys doing wonderful stuff for the maker community. Also provide materials for charity projects.
A must for craft and creative types. Make sure you have a watch because you can really lose yourself in there!
Lots of great stuff here, but I couldn't find what I was looking for. Maybe I should have asked someone.
I was disappointed with the lack of stock but it's still a crafter nerds paradise
A gorgeous shop with the most visually appealing displays full of colour and quirk.
Super shop! This place it a true treasure trove with almost anything crafty or arty you could want! Reasonable prices and well layed out as well as inspiring for new projects too!
An Aladdin's cave of art materials. Cannot visit without buying something amazing!
I can t be in Manchester and not stop by Fred Aldous love this crafty place and I wish I can live there
An absolute gem of an art supply shop, make sure to head to the basement for the hardcore artists' supplies. Really knowledgeable staff and fantastic range of products for all budgets.
Great variety of products at reasonable prices. Lots of specialist and unique art and craft items with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Nice spot for gift shopping. Clean and bright interior with eye catching displays.
Fantastic selection of Art materials at decent prices.
This place is an emporium of everything you'd ever need to express your creativity, it's my definitely my favourite shop in Manchester. I remember going in here ever since I was in school doing GCSE Art, since then it has grown to 3 floors of craft magic. The first floor is all your make your own kits, diaries, easels and the likes. The 2nd floor is all your paints, pens, paper, sewing, knitting, the list in endless. Then on the 3rd floor is where they hold all the classes, a photo studio, sketch pad and canvases. The prices are reasonable and they even offer student discount. Basically if you are ever in need of any creative tools, Fred Aldous should be your first and only stop.
Plenty of art supplies and a fantastic atmosphere, welcoming and friendly.
I bought some ink, nibs and other bits from FA. The order was processed quickly, decently packaged, and delivered promptly. The shop is thoroughly recommended!
This is probably the best shop in Manchester for anything relating to arts and crafts. They always have plenty of great gift ideas and it is difficult to resist buying something for myself as well.
Has most things you need for any kind of DIY paper/card/candle/soap/woodwork art you'd want to do.. shop upstairs has some nifty ideas as gifts..
An incredible cornucopia of art equipment. They have everything!
I ordered from Fred Aldous for the first time on 2nd October 2012, ordering 200ASA 35mm colour slide film that my mother hasn't been able to find anywhere locally for some time. So the first plus was that I'd found a stockist - the second plus was that my order must have been processed just about immediately because the films arrived the day after.
The final plus is that (having emailed them to thank them for such good service) they replied immediately, and I was assured that they would continue to stock the films my mum can't do without!
First class. Very happy, will most definitely use them again.
First visit. Excellent selection of just about everything anything connected with arts & crafts. Prices compare favourably with the internet.
I always feel inspired after a visit to Fred's. They've always got new arts and crafts items in stock. They seem to always manage to source quirky things from various places. I love how they have such a large range of materials over three floors (ground, lower ground and basement). They even have a laser cutting machine and photographic studio for hire. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely window displays too!
A decent art and craft shop, apart from the stairs going downstairs, which aren't wide enough for 2 people at a time, the store is easy to get around. The staff are friendly making shopping a pleasant experience
Great place to buy arts and crafts, literally everything that you need is there somewhere and the team can help you find stuff if you are unsure where certain items are. Only downside is it is with spray paints are hard to look at for the right colour properly without asking someone to get it from behind the desk and can make you feel awkward if you can't find the colour you need.
There was a very limited selection of items for each craft. I browsed the whole store and honestly felt like chains such as Hobby craft have a larger selection than here. I didn't find the staff too helpful either. I would rather go to a specialist store for each craft or even go online.
Great shop with so much choice! Staff very helpful and friendly too! Great for stuff from craft work, needlepoint to gift sets and oil paints! Huge choice
This place has everything arts and crafts. Also discounts for students. Also some cool gifts and cards on the ground floor.
If you are an artist, this is the place you want to shop
Everything art and crafts you could possibly want
They even have a laser for cutting acrylic
Great range of art supplies, helpful staff and just a good atmosphere, recommend it.
Quirky shop selling all sorts of interesting crafty things.
this is a great art and crafts shop for professionals and amateurs. The refurbished top floor houses lots of quirky stationary and gifts, middle floor is paints and fabrics, bottom floor is paper and studio space. Staff are really knowledgeable and friendly.
A number of floors with assorted craft related items and stationary - ground floor has typical gift items and stationary similar in vein to a Paperchase and the basement is full of craft products and consumables like Hobbycraft.
Whenever I am stuck for inspiration or looking for a project to keep me busy Fred Aldous is brimming with ideas. I always walk away with so much more than what I want and my mind is always brimming with ideas. The store is a magical mystery tour of amazing arts and crafts which is split over three levels. Don't be surprised to loose several hours browsing in here, it's a great craft shop.
I've been going to Fred Aldous for years to buy art materials, (I'm an artist) there's a wealth of specialist products and the staff are always really knowledgeable and helpful, they also have laser cutting facilities, craft workshops, risograph machine and gift items.
Great choice of art and craft bits, quirky presents and a photo booth
Walking around Fred's is one of the most amazing experiences, so vast and delightful
Good selection of arts and crafts materials. Most of the serious stuff is downstairs.
Cool quirky place. Great place to pick up a last minute present
My first visit to this place and it can only be described as a Treasure Cave for anyone creative. No matter what you are into Fred Aldous will no doubt have it.
A massive selection of arts and crafts materials spread across 3 floors, you could easily lose hours and spend a fortune. Will definitely be venturing back.
