Went for the meatball sandwich and wasn't disappointed. Meatballs were moist and bread fresh and crisp. Sat at the bar and had great service.
Love it. Lovely place. Lovely back garden ambience and interiors. Lovely people.
out of the way spot in the lower east side, but cozy and comfortable. the service is friendly, wine list is very good and the food is excellent!
Very glad to see Frankie acquired Prime Meats next door! It makes reservation much easier now. Friday night special is white asparagus salad with fava beans and the egg with running yolk on top is a great add-on. Meat balls have pine nuts and raisins inside, which makes them more flavorful. Quinoa salad is very light and refreshing! I also tried the chestnut paparrdelle first time, not bad texture. The staffs are very attentive and very patient to explain the menu to us.
Went for lunch and had a great experience! Had a sandwich on fantastic bread, really enjoyed the cider as well! Fun staff too!
A great little gem of a place! Try the crostini with housemade ricotta & speck, fabulous! The housemade pasta was also excellent, I had it with the lamb ragu, molto bene! I'm not in the habit of ordering dessert, but I'm very glad that I did. The Italian cheesecake (made with housemade ricotta) was the absolute best I've ever had, it was like eating a cloud of deliciousness. How they accomplish all of this in that tiny (I mean tiny) little kitchen is a feat in itself. Nice outdoor seating for when the weather warms up.
Fantastic food in a beautiful space with great staff. Hard to go wrong here.
The Salsiccia and Butter-Sage pasta is just the best you'll ever have!
Visiting from out of town and had a horrible experience. There was a really large party there so we had order from a different menu that was not the traditional menu. We waited a really long time for our server. I believe his name was Max. He never offered us bread which is why we ordered the burnt grilled bread that we were served. We thought it was the only option. I asked 3 times for limes for my water. He just kept coming back without them. Another person in my party ordered spaghetti with shrimp. When it finally came out it was crab with spaghetti. When we told him we had the wrong meal his response was "we subbed the crab" he expected her to eat it and never offered an apology. He stated... I thought I covered that. But he didn't cover anything. He was nonchalant and unattentive. If we were familiar with the city and had not taken 3 trains to get there we would have went somewhere else. Certainly not worth the time or money that was wasted. Very disappointing
A really lovely and pleasant dining experience in the age of Covid. The staff handled things so well and ask you to be just as respectful and careful as they are to you. I appreciated the way they approached things, as did my elderly parents. The antipasti is delicious and perfect for sharing. The fresh pastas hit the spot. And the special focaccia of the day is worth it served with a scoop of softened butter sitting in olive oil and sprinkled with salt. Sooo good! The backyard seating is so lovely - Use Resy and reserve yourself a spot. Thank you Frankies!
Went to a wedding reception there and the food was fantastic and the staff very helpful. Roxie in particular was a rock star for us, very professional and helpful
The service was awesome and the food was great. Very reasonabley priced for what you get.
This place is so good it makes me want to move to the neighborhood so I can go more often. We sat at the bar and the bartender helped us pick some great glasses of wine, letting us taste a bit before committing so we could be adventurous with their great list. The food was absolutely delicious. The fresh pasta had a great chew and the flavors were so so yummy!
Expensive ... But this is linked to the destination! A real treat this restaurant, but if you take in my opinion certain specific dishes: sandwiches !! The bread is very special and a real delight, the garnish made with precision really a treat, it is hearty and very fine! Not the classic sandwich at all, I have fond memories of it it's the best I ate there, I know it's weird, what a sandwich ...! Taste you will see !! I recommend +++
On the other hand, the pasta: not enough served, not breaking bricks. And beware of salads, it's inexpensive like that but we quickly understand why (the Caesar salad is actually just leaves with a little sauce and grated).
If you are in the Carroll gardens area, definitely with a try. Good tasting homemade pasta dishes, friendly wait staff, okay wines, fresh meat/cheese selection for antipasti. I would go again.....and soon if I lived nearby
Went to a private party last night in their backyard section. Very nice space and good rain or shine. Excellent food and attentive service, bravo Frankie!
Basic italian food in hipster fashion with good flavor.
Heard a cook there (Colin) brag about dropping food on the ground and not serving it. Will not be back
Soooooo very tasty, reasonably priced, quick & polite Service and a wonderful outdoor seating arrangement & atmosphere. Carroll Gardens dining in the beautiful warm weather at it's best--fantastic !
Excellent neighborhood restaurant. Worth a trip from Manhattan.
Attended a wedding there and the discussion was great for the intimate event.
Unbelievable pasta. Can't say I've had anything in nyc that can rival Frankie's so far..
I love me some frankies Very clean and the food is great customer service is awesome......
Great Italian food, unpretentious but classy and tasty
Every bite of the ravioli and cavatelli was delicious. There wasn't much elbow room while dining inside, but it was a warm and cozy atmosphere. I can't wait to go back.
I love this place- the food is excellent and creative -but of course with some Italian classics as well. And the wine is interesting and good.
Absolutely love the outdoor patio as well as the internal space and bar!Sam is a smart, positive and approachable manager and Alexis and other staff are terrific.Wonderful experience here! I love coming to this restaurant. A beautiful experience !
I officiated a wedding there. Quaint looking establishment. Highly recommended
Cavatelli with Sausage and Browned Sage Butter, "mic drop"!
Always phenomenal. Experienced, well knowledged, attentive staff. Exceptional kitchen. Always exceeds expectations.
I came here for brunch, and enjoyed great french toast and a Venetian Spritz while sitting out in the back garden. We were 6 people, so we got there right as they were opening and had no trouble getting a table, but it got fuller as we sat. The service was a little lackluster, but I don't need to be best friends with the waiter. He brought my correct order and refilled my coffee, so we're cool.
Every neighborhood wishes they had a restaurant like this. They put tremendous care into each dish. The atmosphere is casual yet refined.
Cavatelli with hot sausage and sage butter was spot on
Sometimes great things happen when you get lost. After doling around in Brooklyn for some time I came to Frankie s place. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is pleasant, the food is very good. Definitely worth it, I ll go back there whenever I m in Brooklyn.
Awesome food. Awesome wait staff. Highly recommend.
Cavatelli was amazing, backyard was great to eat outside in and the house wine was good. Delicious Italian
Maybe our favorite restaurant in the city! Always consistent and good. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. great wine list, and again, prices are great for the quality. Service here is always friendly and attentive. Frankies is especially nice in the warmer months as they have an amazing backyard.
Beautiful ambiance, friendly staff, but most importantly the food is really delicious. Get the cavatelli with hot sausage and brown sage butter if you get nothing else.
This was the best meal I've had in years! Really really fresh ingredients and interesting dishes. The crostini selection is amazing and their vegetarian dishes are delicious. Can't wait to go to back!!!
Delicious pasta dishes. Appetizers were good too. Cavatelli.
Disorganized. Misjudged wait time by almost an hour. Food was pretty good, but not great... certainly not worth the issues.
Lovely atmosphere, great appetizer and pasta selection. Great service and nice backyard area!
Best to go late afternoon before the waits begin. Great salads, pasta, meatballs, olive oil wine. Relaxed with delicious casual food.
We called in a pickup order so we could eat at a nearby playground. The food was ready on time (15 mins) and the sandwiches were delicious. We had the meatball and prosciutto. The bread was especially yummy. Will definitely get sandwiches from here again.
One of those places that s been on my list for a long time, and it took far too long to check it out. I should ve been coming here a long time ago. One of my favs.
Came here on a very wet day. The staff was very friendly. The atmosphere better nice. Could have a conversation in a normal voice. Good was great. Had the pork brasciola with a side of bacon. Yum. Wine selection was nice.
Slow and average food. Waiter was absolutely terrible
Excellent, affordable specials. Very open to sharing of plates.
Amazing food all around. The antipasto was a great start and the gnocchi was some of the best I've had in New York. The wait time can be a bit long, so be prepared if you are coming during rush hours. Will definitely be coming back.
Best pork chop of my life! Sage below was soft and perfect, so many onions in the brown butter, and amazing char up top upon the wrapped prosciutto. Excellent staff and nice space in the warm garden.
Very good Italian in a fun (small) setting - they also have outdoor patio in summer in back. One of our go to spots.
Had dinner there yesterday. Food was very average, both dishes pretty tasteless and over priced. Staff were polite and helpful.
Simply the best. Wow this place has earned every bit of acclaim. Wow. Delicious, thank you Frankies
GET THE GNOCCHI! It's to die for. Soooo good and fresh. The eggplant parmesan is good as well. This was only our 2nd time visiting Frankies, but it's now on our list of favorites!
Delicious, delicious, delicious! Best meal I've had in so long!!!!
Get the meatballs. Get the pasta. Brains on the walls: your mind will be blown.
Food was amazing but staff was OBNOXIOUS. SO I GIVE THREE STARS.
Great quality and very fresh, local food. Amazing ricotta crostini and cavatelli in brown butter sauce.
Returned to Frankies today at lunch around 3:30pm. There are 4 people sitting in the bar and I asked if they were still serving food. The bartender said yes and I asked to sit down at the bar or side bar tables. She stated that they don't serve food in the front at this time and that I had to sit in the back dining room. Fine. I sit in the back, there was a single occupied table only 2 persons. Every table was empty. I wanted to check some email on my laptop and was told that was not allowed. No electronics were allowed on the table. As this was the purpose of my late lunch, I started to leave. The bartender that helped me earlier thought it was strange that I was leaving and I explained that I was told that I could not use my laptop at the table. She stated, did the manager tell you that? I said I am not sure who she was, but I thought it was my server. She explained that "well, its not that type of a restaurant". I said there is no one here and its not like I came at prime dinner hours, it was 3:30 in the afternoon and they had no business. She shrugged her shoulders that was that. The ownership and staff at Frankies 457 has seriously lost their way and completely tossed any ideas of hospitality out the window.
Wine was excellent and the BLT sandwich was better than I thought possible.
Totally great experience! Awesome food and great wine list. Anything you try will be a winner. Stay a while and enjoy the atmosphere.
To be honest, my opinion on this place has changed since I first went here. The vibe and setting is great (the backyard carriage house!), however while the food was clearly great quality, it's kind of basic. It's also expensive. I think they can step it up
Great wine and cheese. Home made pasta and meat balls were delicious.
Walked in by chance. Cosy atmosphere. Friendly staff. Nice food
Great service, great food, great atmosphere -- as simple as that.
We went to Frankie's for my cousin's birthday, and they did not disappoint. They have a big tent in their courtyard that was warm but also felt very COVID safe. Their cocktails were amazing (I highly recommend the Take a Hike, it was our favorite) and our waiter was very helpful with wine selection. We shared 4 pastas and a chicken parm between 4 of us along with the burrata and meatballs which seemed to be just enough food. We loved all of the food but all of our favorites was their cavatelli pasta with spicy sausage and browned butter sauce. It was to die for! The service was also great and the inside looks so cute for non-COVID times!!
