Beautiful architecture and a good place for an exhibition
very interesting Hopper exhibit and nice museum to see
Renzo Piano's (architect) museum. Japanese style, minimalist and powerful; exiting.
Fantastic Picasso exhibition. Very worth seeing and only to be recommended.
Beautiful place of exhibitions. Very relevant exhibitions
World class art exhibitions and a wonderful park to relax
An astonishing collection of modern art, at the moment alongside an excellent exhibition of Edward Hopper. All set in stunningly beautiful & calming grounds on the north-eastern edge of Basel. Definitely worth an afternoon of your time.
Picasso magnificent exhibition. Beautiful spaces. Neat hooks. Beautiful park. Entry a little expensive though
Super organized, staff very nice - and everyone can find a souvenir in the museum shop!
The most beautiful art house in Switzerland ... Simply excellent!
Very nice exhibition, with some very famous artists. The building, designed by the famous architect Renzo Piano, is beautiful.
Visits to the Fondation are always a pleasure, the exhibition on Picasso's blue and pink phase was great.
Looking forward to the following exhibitions about Hopper and Goya
The Fondation Beyeler not only offers exceptional exhibitions, but is also a wonderful place to go to another world. The architecture of the Fondation is unique and blends in beautifully with the park. On and in this place, summer and winter can be thought about the exhibition, but also relax and meditate. The only downer are unfortunately the relatively high entrance fees.
Claire S. Zurich and Basel
Given the exhibition Picasso blue and pink periods. Remarkable. Very nice place inside and out.
Great art museum, great exhibitions and very nice architecture and surroundings.
Cool museum, ready to get to via public transport, awesome Picasso exhibition!
A must for every art lover just before Basel always a current special exhibition occasionally overflows and waiting the kids also on the Internet bookable
Has to be one of the most beautiful museums in the world.
Nice building, nice setting, beautiful exhibits. Large exhibition spaces, even with so many people we move well. To avoid the queue at the entrance it is advisable to take tickets in advance. Few parking places nearby, better to take the tram (about 20 min from the center).
Very proud that we have the wonderful Beyeler foundation here in Basel, I love to attend almost all most exhibitions.
Visited the Picasso exhibition, very nicely done. Great pictures and what is beautiful, almost all of us were allowed to take pictures
Great museum with changing exhibitions. Free entrance for young people! Friendly staff and impeccably clean. Also with a beautiful park around it.
One of my favourite galleries in the world. Great selection of temporary works and fantastic permanent collection. The entire light concept is fascinating, filtering natural light from the ceiling onto the artworks. The Fondation s gardens are worth a look too, with beautiful details in the water, the Calder in the front garden and the pond with its statue at the back. Discounts are given for students and during the summer, special Sunset parties combine electronic music with art, where a party is hosted in the gardens and access to the museum is *free*. Enjoy yourselves!
Wonderful exhibition I met Monet in different periods of his creative life
Show absolutely recommended
Not an art expert but you can find here works from world renowned artists such as Picasso, Degas, Cezanne, etc together with some contemporary art without suffering huge crowds.
Magnificent location, great Baselitz exposition, highly recommendable !
An idyllic place and always first-rate exhibitions. Worth the trip
An absolute must if you are in the area and keen on art. Not only the temporary exhibitions are fantastic, but also the works in their own inventory. It is also worth mentioning how great the building is integrated into the garden and the surrounding nature. And another personal tip: Big enough to present an artist's work exhibition, but also small enough not to kill you.
It is advisable to book the admission ticket online, then the waiting time at the entrance will be reduced.
The top of the top for a private museum of modern art is worth the trip alone, grandiose spaces and beautiful garden with excellent restaurant
Wonderful, exciting Balthus exhibition. The house itself is a work of art that one likes to admire again and again
We come from Karlsruhe, a way that is always worthwhile. Not only the building is beautiful, but also the presentation of the exhibitions.
Nice nice place. A park, a pond, modern sculptures, a restaurant and a modern building for the exposition itself.
The young museum owes its creation to two collectors - Ernst and Hildy Beyeler. Ernst for a long time invested personal funds in the work of contemporary art, mainly guided by his own intuition and taste. The history of the museum itself dates back to the late 20th century, when in 1982 the personal gallery of this married couple with a huge collection of paintings by contemporary artists was transformed into the Beyeler Foundation.
Since 1997, exhibits have been housed in an ultra-modern building, built specifically for them by the Italian architect Renzo Piano in the municipality of Rien. The building of the museum is skillfully inscribed in a picturesque park surrounding Villa Berower, forming an amazing combination of nature, architecture and art. The transparent southern facade of the museum evokes associations simultaneously with the Japanese style and the Greek temple.
The exhibits occupy two floors; today, the museum s collection contains about 230 works by internationally renowned artists. Here you can see paintings by Pablo Picasso, Paul Cezanne, Henri Russo, Jacques Lipschitz, Marc Chagall, Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock, Vasily Kandinsky, Pete Mondrian, Alberto Giacometti, Mark Rothko. The museum also presents the art of Africa, Alaska and Oceania, a total of 25 paintings from these continents.
In addition to the permanent exhibition, the Beyeler Foundation hosts two to three temporary exhibitions each year.
Ernst Beyeler died in 2010, leaving no heirs, and at the moment the museum is managed by the foundation s council.
A beautiful cultural hub that encompass all of the arts. Hosting music, design, painting, sculpture all in the surrounding gardens.
The Beyeler Foundation is located in a spectacular building and probably makes the best exhibitions in Switzerland. It has an impressive collection of works with Monets, Picassos, Rothkos and their great Giacomettis.
Excellent Museum! Do visit here when you stay in Basel for more than one day! The Monet exhibition (currently only until the end of May 2017) is the best I have seen in Europe: the museum gathered a bunch of master pieces of Monet from different museums all over the world, which cover nearly the life span of Monet.
Besides, if you do not have a Museum Pass, consider some waiting time if you come and visit after 12:00, especially on Sundays. Last but not least, the building itself is also worth visiting. Oh yes, do not forget check out the garden and have a relaxed walk outside!
Great Tillmann exhibition. In addition, the building always inspires
really nice exhibitions and just the right size for a nice visit in the outskirts of Basel
A fantastically beautiful, bright, transparent building that allows insights and allows you to look out. The path is worth it alone because you can enjoy the embedding in the landscape from the inside and outside. The Hopper exhibition: dignified. The collection: impressive sizes.
A superb place where you feel good to enjoy the exhibitions
Kelly Giacometti Bacon and many other great protagonists of this splendid Beyeler Foundation in Basel. To visit +++
I was able to enjoy a very interesting tour of the Baselitz exhibition
Incredible experience, rich museum green spaces, suitable for everyone
One of the best museums around the world. No doubts !
The Hopper exhibition is beautiful. The film by Wim Wenders is fascinating. And stunning the early summer beauty of the park and the surrounding area.
A wonderful art museum. The exhibitions are well prepared and very well presented.
The Edward Hopper exhibition was very well attended (Thursday, from 3 p.m.). Keeping one's distance was not possible at all.
Nobody wanted to see the booked time ticket.
We were again in the two exhibitions on Tuesday, August 11th, 2020 from 11:30 a.m. Nobody wanted to see our previously booked timed tickets there either. At Hopper there was a lot going on again and keeping your distance very often not possible. What a pity.
We have been to the Edward Hopper exhibition and the collection and it made us very happy.
Expensive but always ready for surprises. Art lovers will appreciate it.
For me the best museum in Basel! Well done to the foundation.
Great art musuem. The whole garden around the building also very nice. The club Nordstern hosts some great techno partys here during summer.
building well integrated in its environment of greenery, interior very airy and bright, the visits of the exhibitions are a real pleasure so much for the place as its contents
Beautiful eclectic collection of the museum and very often very beautiful traveling exhibitions, all in wonderful building.
The reason I went to the Beers Foundation was because I started from here and walked to the Vita campus.
Take a map and cross the Swiss / German border to Vita.
It was planned together with the Beeler Foundation and Swatch (watch company), and 24 works of artists are installed on the roadside.
Fun to look at works.
The road through the vineyard was too impressive.
Fondation Beyeler: A Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Riehen/Basel
Fondation Beyeler is a world-renowned museum of modern and contemporary art located in Riehen, a suburb of Basel, Switzerland. The museum was founded by Ernst Beyeler, a Swiss art dealer and collector, in 1997. Since then, it has become one of the most important cultural institutions in Europe.
The mission of Fondation Beyeler is to provide visitors with an unforgettable experience that combines art, nature, and architecture. The museum's collection includes works by some of the most famous artists of the 20th century such as Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cézanne and many others.
One unique aspect of Fondation Beyeler is its location. The museum is situated on the edge of a forest park that provides visitors with stunning views over the surrounding landscape. This setting creates an atmosphere that encourages contemplation and reflection on both nature and art.
The architecture of Fondation Beyeler also plays an important role in creating this unique experience for visitors. Designed by Renzo Piano - one of the world's leading architects - the building itself is a work of art that seamlessly blends into its natural surroundings.
In addition to its permanent collection which features over 300 works from various periods including Impressionism to contemporary art movements such as Pop Art or Minimalism; Fondation Beyeler also hosts temporary exhibitions throughout the year showcasing new artists or themes related to modern or contemporary arts.
Visitors can enjoy guided tours led by knowledgeable staff members who are passionate about sharing their love for art with others. There are also audio guides available for those who prefer self-guided tours.
For families with children there are special programs designed specifically for kids including workshops where they can create their own artworks inspired by what they see at Fondation Beyeler.
