A bleak and depressing pile of rubble that claims to be an airport but is actually just a series of sheds connected together. The amenities either side of security are non-existent so if you arrive to the airport hungry or out of charge on your phone then good luck! There's also a lack of proper signage throughout the airport making the place very confusing to navigate and if you ask any member of staff for assistance you'll be spoken to rudely. This would be a bad example of an airport in a third world country 20 years ago, let alone the present day! A shambles. Just no.

A forgotten post-World War II airport. It may at first glance look like an airport in an underdeveloped country. It is a pity that in Berlin, in a country with one of the largest GDPs in the world, there is an airport with these conditions.

All flights were canceled because of strike, staff was unable to provide information. An impertinence of this airport !! No one was interested in finding a solution, just sitting on the chairs and pushing the problem to another person. From the airport of guilt is gabs NOT to eat, no drink. From a hotel night was no question, had to pay themselves, as the airlines was not to blame for the strike. Thank you !! NEVER FLY FROM THIS AIRPORT !! WC are cleaned once a week.IGITT

Such long lines by the immigration area. Then I was stopped by one of their officers for security check. As a foreigner, I was surprised as I was thinking it was manually selected (the fact that I was the only Asian that time). It was only for safety reasons and I understand it.

That same day, our flight with Germanwings going to Cologne almost got cancelled due to heavy rains. I have nothing against it since I used to work on an airline industry before, so I know the safety protocols.

I rarely write reviews, more often when a performance is remarkably good. Unfortunately, I have to say that I almost never experienced such an unorganized place as Berlin Airport Tegel. If I had not driven to the airport on my own (after waiting for days for a message regarding my lost suitcase), I think I would not get my luggage until after 2-3 weeks, even though it was clearly in the back of the room. In addition, the workers seem to have no desire for their work at all.
Not recommended, unfortunately ...

The most horrid airport ever. Please note that security to each gate can take up to 30-40 minutes since there is a separate line for each 2 or 3 gates in terminal A, mostly with only one screening device. Staff is extremely unfriendly. The lounges are before security. Extremely disorganized. No priority access to anything. Only public transport are busses. Taxi queues are huge and when there is a problem, quite frequently, there are simply no cabs driving up to terminal A.

A small purpose airport. But not anymore. He is old and everything is very small. But that means that the routes are short. I know other airports where you walk half an hour to the gate. As I said not nice but zweeckefentent.

this is the worst and most disorganized airport in the world! I was in 3.welt countries and it was much better. Today, for example, we were parked and could only start 20 minutes late. Simply an embarrassment for berlin

Terribly! Clear, lousy information, sluggish. No check-in machines, here you have to stand in line forever to check in luggage .. Must do everything I can to not use this airport again! Would gladly give zero stars if possible.
Long queue to get to security check. After the world's smallest tax-free and a tiny bit of coffee sales ... Outrageously bad.

Nothing to see. Nothing to do just waiting for flight. I will try never to use this airport again. However, staff look friendly

I also don't know what some of the problems are here. I rarely fly, but it actually works. You also have to wait a long time at other airports. Dusseldorf, I did not find the signs to the parking garage really easy to understand ......
Getting to Tegel by public transport was always easy. Since I only drive or pick up someone with a car two times a year, I also drive a lap of honor, presumably because I'm traveling too fast again and then just overlooked a sign :-)

Honestly, the worst airport I have seen so far, old, outdated, unfriendly and boring. It is really a shame that this is the first thing people see when they come to Berlin. However, Berlin is beautiful city. Shame for the airport

Tegel is the very last airport for me.

Tegel is the very last airport for me.
On the way there we had problems with our luggage, because it was brought to the terminal, but nobody wanted to put it on the tape. So we could wait nearly 40 minutes, until finally one of them was able to put the suitcases on the tape so that we could receive them. We could even see the suitcases through a pane of glass. But all staff, which ran around and was addressed, could or did not help.
Generally everything is very stale and run down. Elevators do not go or do not really lead to the desired floor, so still the stairs (with child and stroller) had to be used.
The shelters are corrugated iron huts without air conditioning, without real comfort or "rest areas". In the very last hall, there was only one type of snack bar / kiosk with prices that had washed themselves. Our flight was delayed, so that the hunger came up. If I want to get a whole family here with the prices (and the food quantities), I pay again a small holiday.
At least I will avoid Tegel as much as possible. I'm sorry if I throw in people willing to work here from Tegel Airport. But of the employees, with whom I had contact (service forces, security, checkers ...) was at least on this day no one in the matter or wanted his job service-oriented and at least a touch customer-friendly.

One of the worst airports I've been to. Doesn't make sense and not modernized at all to handle the number of passengers through the airport. Check in and boarding and security are all at one place. It gets clogged from everyone that thinks to get there early only to realize you can't do anything until an hour ahead of time because the gate is so small and can't hold everyone. Doesn't make sense at all and should be updated.

Aesthetically, it's a bit like a refugee camp. There's not much to do or look at. The planes weren't too late, but kind of expected an airport in a place like Germany to be much better than this.

I really hope they close this airport soon. It's always a mess to travel in summer or xmas, no organisation, queues that last for 1h, very unfriendly employees... I lost my flight on a 19th of december because of long queues in the security check. Unbelievable and if you ask you are treated like sh*t. Customer service is inexistent

It is a small, run down airport. Instead of taking care of order and cleanliness on the zi site, the operator only devises plans to pull money out of people's pockets. So people who bring friends or family to Terminal C are now charged with 5 euros - disguised as a parking fee ..... Sure, you can stay there for 1 hour - but who wants that ???

Tegel has to remain simple .... easy and quick to reach .... short distances (small and clear airport)

It would be a shame to expect a global city like Berlin to have only one airport ... Tegel is simply part of Berlin!

Simply the worst airport that I experienced. It was my first time in Berlin and I would never expect such trashy and unnefcient place. I spend 2h to enter in the airplane. Security line is a joke, a complete mess. If you have the chance, simply ignore the existence of this airport and go to another one.

Horrible experience at this airport. Before entering the access control I already had a feeling of total eviction due to the great disaster and chaos that prevails in all parts of this site.

The control staff address you in German with a very bad face. The ticket control said that I did not have a ticket and that I was not listed as a passenger! After fighting with him I met.

They put us on the wrong plane, they got us off and they kept us waiting for the plane to clear up.

We are already 30 minutes late and we will see if I do not miss the connecting flight.

This airport is completely overloaded. Despite the condition, everything is going pretty well.
Unfortunately, we found it quite confusing locally and parking is clearly too little.
You have to know in advance, which gate you want to be otherwise difficult to get there.
The on-site staff is very friendly and the machines leave pretty punctually.

The airport is not at all like the city and more generally the country.
The staff are not at all professional.
No waiting on arrival as on departure surely because early departure
The airport being very old and badly configured, it is impossible to modernize it. We would have to destroy it and rebuild a new one. It feels like the dawn of the post-war period.

Super crowded.. Terrible signage making it confusing for everyone to get to their correct locations. Old and run down is generous to describe the place, literally one of the worst airports I've been to, only slightly better than air Asia's old lcc terminal in Malaysia which was a hell hole. Avoid at all costs!

You have to travel a lot from one terminal to another, you have to go with a lot of time, because as it happened to me, there was more than 40 minutes queue just for the control of passing the ticket.
In the controls, very slow and too safe to pass the suitcases, they review it as you see it in the least (to me not)
Then toilets leave much to be desired at least terminal C.

This is the worst airport I've ever seen. Just a terrible hell! It feels like a warehouse in the field. Queues are constant everywhere, on arrival, on departure! Nothing is clear where there is, a lot of people, on passport control there are 3 sloths for 5-6 sorties! We stood 3 hours. On the board nichrome not see what your way out! Before the plane - on foot. The class. And this is Berlin ?! Shame on you !!!

You can reach the airport very well by public transport, furthermore, the paths are rather short, also to the terminal C, so you do not have to walk too much. The security check is fast. Although it is somewhat crowded in some places, but on the whole you have enough space. There are also some shops in Terminal A and otherwise in the other terminals duty-free shops which makes the wait entertaining. Otherwise, I had absolutely no problems with the airport, so I think it's great, given all the circumstances!

Don't bother turning up early for your flight

Don't bother turning up early for your flight

This is a tiny airport with some shops and restaurants, all of which are painfully overpriced.

We showed up 2 hours before out flight to be told that the gate was closed and we would need to wait somewhere (any where) until it opened.

That's said, it's easy to access from central Berlin via bus and is incredibly cheap to do so. In true German style, everything is efficient, but a bit souless.

Also remained unhappy with the airport. After reading reviews about the terrible queues, I arrived in advance, nobody sat at the A2 gate at the check-in immediately there was a queue to check things in which I got up. When the woman asked if I was curing luftair, I replied, finnair. There they raised such laughter, laughed with the whole composition, made jokes (apparently having decided that I do not understand German), the queue stopped. I did not understand what is wrong? Guilty, that came in advance? And you can not calmly say, without humiliating in front of the entire airport? Or put at least a person at the reception? I had a boarding pass and I passed. There was an unpleasant aftertaste
