They require you to leave your driver's license and keys to rent tubes. Seriously? Wouldn't a security deposit make more sense? Unfortunately, I had my kids bring the tubes back and never looked to see if they had my license and now my license is gone. Now I have to report it as missing on order to avoid fraudulent activity.

My friends and I camped here for the summer set 2016 festival. Security and police officers drive around, being very intimidating. We were kicked out on our final night, at 12:30am for having music on, we were only given one warning. They towed our vehicles, the owner knows a local towing company, I assume they work together, because they charged 300 dollars per vehicle. When trying to explain ourself to security, we were told to f*** off, repeatedly, and too shut our f****** mouths or they would arrest us. After we were kicked out I asked the owner for some basic information about the police and his ownership, only to be told to get the f*** back, stepping aggressively toward me as I walked away. Please do not camp here, not worth your money, and generally a horribly run campground.

Best park on the Apple River hands down. Longest float and you don't have to sit and wait on a shuttle at the end because you get off right at the camp ground. Love the convertible bus! The staff was friendly, the new kitchen serves great food and the patio bar on Friday and Saturday night is a blast!

Spaces are a hit tight and they are very busy on the weekends. Geared towards a younger crowd (people are up all hours of the night), but is here fun if that's what you're looking for! The float is awesome and most items are reasonably priced. Felt the price for the trip was very reasonable

Been here several years now. They have made great improvements, including a bar/night club and restaurant. There is also a concessions stand with food and essentials. Great spot for tubing, partying, and summer camping.

This place is bad news. The river is full of garbage, glass, and bodily fluids of all kinds because of this "park". Do not go to the bar here, and stay close to your friends. There will be all sorts of rough people looking for fights, including the bouncers and bar owner. I urge you to keep your head on a swivel and know your surroundings at all times so you don't become a victim of any kind. Do NOT wander because there are a lot of creeps who hang out at this campground and bar. Stay safe.

Stayed in a cabin for the weekend of Northern Invasion. Based on past reviews I came in with low expectations. With that being said, it turned out be a great experience. There was a line to check but it was fast and organized. They only take cash for deposit so be sure to plan for that. The cabin was way nicer than I would ve expected. The new restaurant/bar was huge, good service, and served good drinks. Most of the showers worked and were warm. The bathrooms seemed to be cleaned daily which was nice. The staff were friendly and seemed to be on top of everything. The cop presence was there but wasn t overwhelming and nobody was bothered with. In fact I felt the security/cop presence was the right balance needed for the festival weekend. The crowd type of people wasn t bad either as everyone got along where we stayed at. The check out process was simple and fast. The people complaining seem to not follow the established rules/process and owner appears to enforce. Which I have no issue with as it brings some order. I would highly recommend Float Rite Park. The lazy river looked nice but wasn t able to do due to the colder weather.

The 1st and LAST time I will ever camp there!!! ...

The 1st and LAST time I will ever camp there!!! Be prepared to shell out lots more money then basic camp fees. Outhouses few and far between and I puked when I opened the door. There was a bathroom by office that was filthy and only one stall that there was a line to. Not sure where all others went to the bathroom. The owner was rude and even called someone "tubby" as he was walking away so he could hear it. Then stood with a Somerset officer and I heard him say, " I should have head-butted that f------." Very disrespectful, un-professional, antagonizing and inciting. To me it looked like a power trip. The camp sites were very very small and had large indents, everyone tripping. You were stuffed in right next to each other. Parking absolutely a mess. I was blocked in at times untill I could find the person. The bus driver said to smoke "whatever it is" you want to smoke on the bus to the river and people were openly smoking marijuana. One of the staff was laughing about having to wear gloves so they wouldn't get a high five with acid on the hands. Just a free for all. The owner hires, in his words, "15 and 16" year olds to work with a crowd that is completely wasted and high. Not a good environment for kids. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. The stink was unbearable. When there was a breeze it smelled to me like one big outhouse. I got home and I could smell it on my camper!!!

I attended a music festival a few years ago across...

I attended a music festival a few years ago across the street. One of the days I visited a friend who stayed in Float Rite Park. The campsite seemed orderly and homey. I am attending the same festival again and made the wrong choice of choosing Float Rite for my stay. I made the reservation months in advance and was not informed by the clerk that even for add-on campers, the price per night per person goes up as the date grows nearer. The next time I called the clerk even admitted to me that she did not know of this policy when i made the reservation. Furthermore, they would not let two of my co-campers pay for the two nights they could make it to the festival. They have to pay for all three nights (another policy they did not inform me of). This campground looks like a for profit only establishment. Capitalism at its finest, even in the heart of America's dairy land.

My reservation date is fast approaching and I will edit my review if they redeem themselves during my stay.
-----------------
Update:
So the stay went mostly well except for a few more minor take more of our money schemes. I will admit it was my fault for the scheme taking place.

The more important event was a double booking of our campsite.

another group who booked the same site showed up about 12hrs after we did and were pissed and made many threats. The campground responded well with one of their many security guards and stayed by our camp for awhile. The double booking occurred because in between my reservation and the others they switched over to a electronic system. Since they were nice I'll change my review to 2 stars.

Getting there, there is a 5$ parking fee and I bel...

Getting there, there is a 5$ parking fee and I believe it is 16$ per person to go tubing down the river. There is, however, a few safety hazards, some can be fixed and some can't. But if you can get past them its a very fun place to be for an afternoon.

The river itself is very, very, shallow; no more than 3-4 feet deep on a good day. The problem is that the river floor is very rocky, so if you ever need to get up and walk because of currents, you run the risk of cutting yourself on a sharp rock. I was unlucky and DID NOT bring water shoes as the people I was with never told me that it was extremely rocky. For that reason I highly recommend you bring some form of water shoes.

Some rocks are also very tall and just barely poke out of the water meaning that even if you are just chilling in a tube you'll be caught by surprise when a rock hits you in the rear end and possibly gives you a bruise.

I do NOT recommend this place for any young kids or older folk whose body might not be what it used to be. The majority of the people there are maybe 16-30 meaning that there's a lot of alcoholic beverages a spew and a lot of people who do not think about any smaller kids. Some one brought a full-fledged inflatable sex doll to accompany them down the river and were very loud and probably also didn't say many family-friendly PG clean things.

For older folks, especially if your body isn't as good as it used to be, this can be a hazardous place if you're not careful. My father who is over 50 got caught on a rock at some point and the current was so strong he couldn't even stand up especially with a bad shoulder and knee. We couldn't swim back either because of said strong current. But someone was nice enough to grab our tubes before it was too late so we didn't end up losing him.

There's a 'rapids' part of the river that is especially bad for said older or younger folks who run the risk of getting washed away from their group, so there's a sign and a place to exit, if you apply PLEASE use it. Also take great care in tying all your tubes together. I was ambitious and wanted to be alone so i could just swim and goof without bothering others in my group. That decision was proven to be a bad one as I got stuck on the sides of the river a few times where the current pushes in so you're trapped in a pocket that you cannot swim out of unless you're a very, very, strong swimmer.

The place is a blast though if you can get past all of what I've just said.

Please be warned.....if you have to cancel your reservation, no matter the reason, they will NOT refund ANY of your fee....including pre-paid tube rental. They will offer you a voucher for a different weekend. If you can't use the voucher, you re out of luck. You're better off to not cancel, and let the site sit empty, rather than cancel, so they can re-book. If you cancel, I'm sure they WILL try to refill it, and make double the money off of the site. Oh, and to top that off, you cannot change the people staying in the site, once inside of 7 days till reservation. So you can t even sell it/give it to a friend.

When your done get back to your campsite and enjoy a fire and some food and drinks. So many good memories from this place. Will be going back again this summer. Thanks Float rite!

I do not usually do reviews but this time I felt compelled to do so. I scheduled to stay in a cabin several weeks in advance on a wednesday night. This was for a bachelor party and I was the best man in my friends wedding. He is in the Marines and stationed out East so he was only going to be able to make it back the week of his wedding. Some unfortunate events took place and he was not going to be able to make it back for the week so obviously we were not going to be able to stay up there for the night. When I called to try canceling they would not let me cancel as they said it was too soon of notice. They would not work with me or even talk to me about it and I was very polite the entire time. I called 2 and a half weeks before to cancel ..and this was for a wednesday. I would think if my friend, who is in the military and is a marine, would not be able to make it back they could make an exception and allow the cancellation being that he fights for this country. Again I never write reviews but this time it really frustrated me how they would not even talk to me or work with me on these issues .not even for an active duty Marine. Extremely disappointed.

This is easily the best place on the river. I've stayed at the other camp grounds and Float Rite has the nicest facilities and camp sites. A very wooded area, great staff, awesome bar at night with a DJ, and our tubing was way longer than all the other places. If you want to stay in the middle of an open field, go to the other camp grounds. This is where the party is at!

We witnessed a security snap a guys arm for recording them swarming their site and going after their friend. Cops and ambulance came, also towed out all their cars. Seems to be the M.O. for management/security here. It was a group of minorities too. Thankfully we managed to stay to ourselves and keep off their radar... Wonder how they didn't seem to notice the white meth heads on the other side of us, tweaking our entire stay.

Won't be back! Probably why it was dead empty too, others know better, now I do too!

Over priced! Got charged full price for our own inflatable cooler which they don't check for glass on the river.. people were throwing glass bottles in River so water shoes are smart idea in case your tubes POP. They don't help you load your tubes up or tell you what bus to get on or where to get off!! The river can be dangerous with booze and sun involved. Try to have a safe float and drink lots of water if your going to be drinking or bad things can happen way to fast!

Group of friends and I rented tubes with apple river but missed the appropriate exit and ended up at float rite. The staff was super rude! Refused to help us cut our tubes loose and refused to call apple river to come pick us up! As we started the over a mile trek with 22 tubes and 2 coolers we ran into a kind man who called the Apple River owner to have has picked up. I don't plan on ever taking my business here

The river tubing pricing was weird and unclear. $15 with a $5 deposit. but guess what, you don't get the "deposit" back. There is no discount if you bring your own tube. So basically you pay $20 for a 2 mile bus ride.

Spent a $1000+ to reserve our campsite for the year, noticed the Facebook page, website, and phone number are all shut down. Never got a notice on why they shut down or when we will be getting a refund. Very bad business and must be a reason why they shut down. Contacting the correct people to make sure we get our money refunded.

First time at the park, saw the reviews and braced for a high probability this could really suck. Frankly your experience with your neighbors will always differ because some people make it awesome and others just can t handle having a good time. If you like to make trouble, you re not going to have a good time and the only person to blame for that is YOU.
Management and staff were accommodating, positive and made our stay really fun! There s a small store where you can buy some supplies, restaurant /bar where drinks are really reasonably priced and AMAZING.
The river experience is a whole other thing on its own. Depending on the company you brought will determine how much fun you re going to have. Most other tubers were fun and polite, then you get a couple of interesting characters you get to talk about when you reminisce of your tubing adventure. Haha
Park is really clean, bathrooms were kept clean what more can you ask for? Bring ear plugs if you head to bed early, some like to stay up late so to save yourself from being crabby just prepare yourself for the inevitable that not everyone is going to be quiet and respectful. Definitely coming back, this was a great place to be.

Horrible customer service! Was emailed saying my campsite would be $90 then my bank account was charged $225. Called the customer service line for 3 days in a row trying to cancel the reservation, when I finally talked to someone they said I'm no longer in the 14 day cancelation time so I'm SOL. Will never be returning to this campgrounds.

We were there last night and there was a disagreement and argument with another campsite but we went our separate way. The owners and security surrounded our campsite and attempted to escalate into a fight with us. Tried to calmly talk with them and they surrounded my very drunk friend again trying to escalate with us. Then we're attempting to tow our vehicle, stating I am the owner I can do whatever I want. Made it difficult for us as possible to clear out our campsite as we were kicked out. Would strongly recommend you chose one of the other campsites available.

I've been coming here for over 15 years and what an awesome place. Friendly staff here to make your time enjoyable. Nick the bus driver is a bit crabby but funny crabby. I really got a kick out of him. I now live in Florida but still find the time to get up here once a year. I do miss the concerts they use to have in August. I'm 60 years old now and I still love the Floatrite. I may never grow to old to have fun. Thank you to all the wonderful people at Floatrite!

I would not recommend this place for your own safety if you re a minority. My friends and I stayed at the campground across the river this year (We stayed at Float Rite last year). We witnessed a group of about 15 black adults get out of the river on the Float Rite side (They were loud but nothing out of the ordinary compared to other groups tubing). One of them was having trouble getting to shore so they had to wait a few minutes for her. By the time she had gotten to shore the owners of Float Rite had come down to the river. I m not sure what all was said as we were watching from a distance, but I saw whom I m assuming was the owner and another employee take multiple swings at one of the black campers and tackle him to the ground. As soon as this happened, a white cop arrived and immediately grabbed the black kid and arrested him. The camp owners were never questioned by the cop even though it looked damn well like they instigated everything. I didn't hear or see everything so have some skepticism when reading this, but based on prior reviews about the owners of this park I'm pretty sure we witnessed a racist act. It was disturbing.

If I could give negative stars I would! The owner is so disrespectful and rude! She will not listen to anything you have to say and cuts you off mid sentence. Does not or will not communicate properly! Worst customer service I have ever had. She says one thing and does another. She tried to judge me on my personal life about my wedding. I will NEVER camp here again, which is sad cause we have been going here for YEARS! I would NEVER recommend this place to ANYONE.

If I could give zero stars, I would. The owner of this place blatantly lied to me. I had to cancel my sisters' bachelorette party after not getting the number of responses that I had hoped for. I realized I would need to cancel on 4th of July which was 30 days out from when we were going to be there (their deadline for cancelling and getting a refund). They were closed for the holiday so I called the next day. I was told that I would not be getting a refund because I was at 29 days out. After repeatedly begging to get my money back (because 30 days was a holiday), I was finally told that if they could book that cabin, I would get my money back.

Fast forward to the weekend we were supposed to be there...I had a friend call to ask if they had any open cabins for that weekend. She was told no, all cabins were full. When I called later that day and told them who I was and did they have any open cabins, she said oh yes we still have that one open. When I told her about my friend calling earlier and getting told they were full, she played dumb and said she must've called the wrong number, sorry!

Be warned and definitely choose somewhere else! This place straight up lies to their customers and makes no effort to work with you when changes may be needed. They've got to be making money hand over fist all summer, but apparently it's not enough because they need to steal from their customers as well!

Great venue to work in. The management team seems to understand the full scope of engaging and disengaging a crowd of tens of thousands.
Although I haven't worked any gigs at this venue pre-remodel. It is definitely nice and newly refinished where it seems important to be so.

My one suggestion is to provide some simple ramps to back the trailers up onto for the main stage loading dock.

Coming 6inches higher to make a 4inch instead of 10inch gap between the trailers and the dock.

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! This camping area is nothing but one big drunk and other things party area. The showers were cold and you had to pay extra to shower. You need to pay for parking and garbage. These are things not explained on website or when booking. This is NOT a family fun area. The music goes until past 2 AM they do not explain any of this when booking. Also the "security" staff are a joke. The enable the rowdy campers NOT calm them down. SO if alcohol, drugs, and loud all nighters is NOT your thing stay away.

Crappy tubes. Unrealistic prices. We called ahead and were told the Apple River "isn't like it used to be" and that we would be fine taking kids on a float trip. We boarded the bus and a few minutes later a middle aged man who identified himself as one of the bus drivers boarded the bus and yelled "It's mother**cking party time! Smoke whatever you got, drink whatever you got!" He looked directly at the 11 and 14 year old girls in our group prior to yelling this so I know he saw them. What a disgusting operation.

I find this tubing company to be better than the local competitors. The prices are fair and there are no hidden costs. The employees are also accomodating. Plus side is it doesn't take 30 minutes to get into the parking lot on busy days like the 4th of July. Takes a few minutes and then you're in and ready to get your tubes and get on the bus.

They were very slow the two times I went on Fridays the summer of 2019. Service was good, knowledgeable, and helpful. I didn't care for the spot you get off the river because it's not marked and the water is moving so fast there it is dangerous. I do like how you get to take the bus to another place to get in the river. I like being transported while dry rather then most places that pick you up all wet & sandy & dealing with a tube & maybe a cooler.

The owner of this establishment is incredibly raci...

The owner of this establishment is incredibly racist. We witnessed him take two on duty cops to two cabins both occupied by minorities. He told the first they were on warning for a "noise complaint" and proceeded to the next camp and did the same, only this time the camp asked how it was possible they were the only ones getting noise complaints when the entire camp was blaring music until 4 am, the bar was blaring music until 2 am and the entire camp smelt of weed smoke. It was blatant racism and the cops just stood by and assisted this joke of a man kick them out. I made a heated comment in the campers defense and the owner charged me only to be stopped by his cop friends. They kicked me out of the premises, barely allowing me to grab my vehicle and get me gear together. The owner was screaming in my face and getting so agitated he again had to be restrained from stricking me. All while I was peacefully trying to gather my gear up. After I hoped in to my car my friends told me the owner told all of them that he wishes the cops weren't around so he could have "beat my a**". There was about 2 dozen witnesses who can confirm this. The facilities where incredibly unsanitary, and the secerity guards walked around like they were mercenaries for hire. Let alone they nickle and dime you for everything. 16 dollars for a tube down the river? Seems a bit ridiculous. Needless to say we will never be going back and I will be telling everyone I know to not do business with this organization as they are a disgrace.

I attended Northern Invasion this last weekend in Somerset, and if I could rate the parking (at Float Rite) or the owner of Float Rite a -5 I would. Absolutely TERRIBLE experience and beyond rude service. I parked in the same parking lot both Saturday and Sunday which was about 2 blocks down from the larger general admission parking. I paid $20 on Saturday, but when I got to the lot on Sunday at 2pm there were no parking attendants to be found. There weren't any signs saying that that lot had been closed, that it was a private lot, nor any signs warning about towing. I found a legit parking spot (same one as the day before) that was not blocking anything and parked. After the concert I came back out to find my car had been towed. I then talked to the owner (John) who was a complete prick, while lighting up and blowing smoke in my face as he told me "Sorry, the lot was closed at 1:30". Mind you - there is NO WAY for him to know whether I paid or not (I wanted to, there wasn't anyone there to pay), this entire scheme is all cash and no receipts. He forced me to go to the ATM and take out $225 to pay him to get my car back. I asked for the phone number of the towing company (GTK Towing) to see where my car was and he say "Oh, I own that too." HOW CONVENIENT. After I pay him, he points about 100 ft away and says "There's your car." You can't tell me that it's legal to charge $225 cash to tow my car from your one parking lot, down the road two blocks to your other parking lot with YOUR towing company all while not having any signage to support this activity. I asked for a receipt from the tow and you'll never guess- the machine wasn't working so he hand wrote me this "really professional" receipt. The part that is most mind-blowing to me is that there were about 10 police officers just standing around watching this scam happen, and not doing anything about it! We all know that the ridiculous amount of money that this "owner of apparently everything in Somerset, WI" made this weekend is all going tax free. I will definitely not waste my time or money coming back to Somerset for anything again. There are other rivers to float and other concert venues to see.
John- please take a class in f****** manners, the way you handled this was absolutely unacceptable.

It's fine for what it is, a party river. I thought it was great in my 20's. Then I discovered tubing down the Cannon river in Welch, MN. So much better! Float Rite charges you $5.00 to park, $16.00 per tuber, $16.00 for a cooler tube (even if you bring your own), a $5.00 can deposit, $1.00 for showers. The garbage that was in the Apple River was pretty terrible, not to mention the D-bag campsite that was launching water balloons at tubers.
Welch is $10/tuber, no cooler tube charge if you bring your own and free parking. Super easy in, easy out of the river, no giant hill to walk up and the wild life you see is awesome! And yes, we still have our drinks and have tons of fun, just a lot less frat like fun.
If you are from the Twin Cities looking for a tubing spot, the Cannon River in Welch, MN is the best!
