A useful site to find tutors who teach violin. I like the fact that so far the people I have contacted were friendly and useful to learn from. They know a good standard and are able to teach proficiently. It is convenient to have this as a resource when looking for lessons.

I find that First Turors is helpful and very easy to use, for both tutors and tutees. It helps bring to the tutors students outside the main stream of secondary schools. This provides a bit of a change in the teaching that is quite enjoyable, because the profiles and needs are different and more varied. Also, I believe, the fee paid by the students is very reasonnable and they don't seem to have an issue with it. I am happy I registered on First Tutors. They are quick to answer and very professionnal.

First Tutors have been and are excellent platform for me and I have gained serious students who are studying the Dutch Language with me. The students are from all walks of life and can choose to learn the Dutch Language in their own free time including unsociable hours. I found a local tutor easily. The finders fee for the agency was very low. The tutor responded to my request immediately and I started lessons within a week of making contact. My experience has been totally satisfactory.

Im learning german with this company and its fab, the tutor is brilliant and works at my own pace I would highly recommend this company.

First Tutors has sucessfully put me in touch with students who I have enjoyed teaching and the email reminders help me to keep up with my tutor requests when I am busy. I find their site professional and secure, all for no charge, which is great!

1. I would like First Tutors to be more proactive in helping tutors to find and win students, by providing advice and tips available to all registered tutors. This would be in your interest to help tutors win more students, as you gain 20 euro payment for each new student.
2. I don't like the generic template response many students sent 'are you available...'. It tells a tutor NOTHING about who the student is and what their needs are. It sends a message that this student is too lazy to both communicating what help they need from a tutor and when.
3. Students frequently stop messaging me on First Tutors when I mention the 20 euro payment to First Tutors that they must pay to receive my contact details. You have seen yourself how many students try to send a tutor contact details or contact places to meet, etc. This makes it very awkward for a tutor, and makes us seem guarded to potential tutees.
4. Tutees, even those who buy our contact details, but who we do not charge for a service/do not work with, can still post a negative review publicly on First Tutors. A negative reference is illegal, so why allow negative reviews? I have received two malicious reviews in my past experience from two students who bought my contact details, who I then never even met online or in person. These reviews appear in any general google search. I discontinued Tutorhunt.com for that reason.
5. I live in Drogheda, 30 minutes drive from Dublin city. Why cannot I not advertise TWO tutor locations on First Tutors, as I can meet students in both Drogheda and in Dublin, or other locations. Having one fixed address pinned to our Tutor profile limits the students who book us.
6. Majority of Irish people don't like Skype. I have worked with hundreds of UK and international students via Skype since 2010, but Irish people really won't try it, the majority of them. This is something First Tutors could address by highlighting the many advantages of Skype (and other online video/screen sharing apps).
7. Not many Irish students contact me via First Tutors. You could proactively review tutor profiles (as you have them all to compare across), to give feedback and advice to tutors on what works in tutor adverts, essential and nice to have information to include, what not to include, too little, too much, etc.

I have found the site very easy to use. I have a great teacher too! We are now using Skype for our lessons and it is just as productive and enjoyable. I feel I am really improving with my spoken French.

My first time using First Tutors and could not be more satisfied. Simple to use website that enabled me to quickly locate a language tutor who turned out to be exactly as expected/described. You only pay a one off fixed fee (on choosing a tutor) which I thought was both very affordable and good value for money.

Through First Tutors I found a tutor to teach me Russian. I am a complete beginner. The teacher is excellent - the lessons are very well organised, take place in a relaxed atmosphere and are also enjoyable. Given my experience, I would recommend this site to anyone looking for a language teacher.

I think I would have preferred paying the website after I had agreed to a tutor. I was lucky, Erim was great...but for someone who may not have found a good tutor and unable to contact them directly..that could be an issue.

First tutors is an amazing organization. They allow all tutors to set their own times and fees. Their customer service is prompt! I ve been able to provide my services to people seeking for a tutor without any trouble.

Their staff is extremely low in professionalism. When I reach other tutor websites, they are very willing to help if I have any problem with a tutor. However this website take a hands off approach and is only willing to defend themselves before they even think about how to provide help.

Ameera Javed is a wonderful teacher, my daughter who has some trouble in Maths, always find a way to make her understanding problems. We are glad to meet her, my daughter feel already more comfortable for solving problems at school... I can't recommend Ameera enough, EXCELLENT.

First Tutors is very efficient and well thought initiative. It is especially suitable for someone like me who is a student and manages their expenses by themselves. No formalities required just create an account and its done.

I wasn't sure at first about using a website to find a tutor but it worked out really well, we found Jack and he is really good. The website lets you message the tutor first and ask as many questions as you need to then you can accept the tutor. After that you do need to pay a small fee to the website before you can discuss sessions and contact details but it's good because it's secure. You deal with the tutor for payment and I did bank transfer and he was happy with that. We have had a few sessions now and I would definitely use them again in the future if needed.

As a tutor, First Tutors is the only agency I ve used that doesn t charge a commission on lessons I teach. They charge an initial admin fee to the client then the tutor takes all the payment for the lessons after that. This makes a big difference when trying to make a living out of tutoring. It s simple and straightforward to use and representatives always respond quickly if I have an issue. I d highly recommend.
