I have got some delightful, motivated tutees via First Tutors and am thoroughly enjoying the experience of tutoring them. The work is varied and interesting - and it's lovely to be teaching in its 'purest' form - planning and creating resources, mentoring interested students and watching them progress. How lovely to be able to do this at home, too. Thank you, First Tutors :)

I am having a lot of problems with First Tutors as a tutor.
1. They are more interested in being paid the tutoring student's fee before the session than help tutors.

So, tutors are not protected against any unexpected issue, so be ready for it!
3. One of my students provided a feedback without starting her sessions because at the end, she changed her mind!
I asked first tutors to delete this feedback and they said they trust in student's feedback integrity...and what happens with tutors?
Without tutors this company wouldn't exist so pls, be aware, take care of tutors and treat them how they deserve to be treated!
4. I feel really disappointed and angry at this lack of professional behaviour and empathy with tutors.
I have been with First Tutors for 10 years now, so i feel that they are taking advantage of tutors and students in some way and they are more interested in money than in providing a competitive/ excellent service.
Excellent tutors there are few , (i consider one of them because all my students get the best marks in their exams), so if they don't take care of their tutors, the level of tutoring will get down and students won't trust in them.
I feel familiar with other reviews on this forum, i have also had to work sometimes for "free" to please students, charging a little rate to make them happy, being with them 1-2 years, (most of my students are with me long time), and after, i ask these students to write a good review for me and some of them they don't do it after being successful and get the highest marks in their exams.
So, all this hard work for nothing!

If not, students won't see your profile, (even as in my case, i am fully qualified with 15 years of experience).
So, i advice First Tutors to create a new policy to protect tutors against difficult students and make some obligatory rules:
1. Make payment before every session.
2. Provide feedback.(Before publishing, tutors can check this profile and if they don't agree with it, they can proof the issue with it and be hide or deleted), without being shown any bad review with red colour on profiles.

So, happy tutors become happy students and not on the contrary.
It needs to be balance and equal the level of service for students and tutors.

As a language tutor, I have been very pleased to work with First Tutors since the beginning. They are a great team offering a lot of support for both tutors and learners. First Tutors provides a very safe environment for all parties and they are genuinely interested in providing great service. Excellent work, everyone and I am proud to be part of this family!

We found a tutor who lived near us to help our daughter with grade 12 IB math. He has been great, we're very happy. The $10 fee paid to First Tutors before getting phone/email details seems reasonable and can be used for multiple tutors if needed for up to 3 months I believe. Nice that you can communicate with various tutors before paying anything to make sure the tutor can do what you want and scheduling can be figured out first.

I found my English tutor through First Tutors! They have useful information about their tutors and distance from you to tutors.

I found the web site a bit complicated to work out especially in relationship to getting details of the tutor so arrangements can be made to start lessons

I've found First Tutors: Canada valuable. They've passed me a modest but steady stream of potential customers that I probably wouldn't otherwise have reached, and there is no cost to me for using their service.

Their processes are a little quirky, and this is particularly difficult with the first customer or two, when it is unfamiliar. For instance, they understandably push you to make a reasonably quick decision on whether to accept a new student, and to respond quickly to any questions from them. However, it isn't obvious what to do if the customer themselves doesn't respond. Also, the site demands that you arrange a first tutorial before formally accepting a new student, but because neither of you are yet allowed the other's contact details and because the site understandably doesn't want to you to be able to make contact directly before the student has paid First Tutors' fees, then in practice it's just confusing and seemingly impossible. Now I've been through this a few times, it's fine: you agree, in principle, with the student that everything's looking good, and accept them, and *then* sort out the final details.

Just once, I also only found out that I had a potential new customer days later, as the site seems to have briefly had a quirk, so I didn't receive an initial notification (I checked more than once: it wasn't just that I missed an email or it got trapped in my spam filters). At least the site sent an automated follow-up when they saw that I hadn't responded for a few days.

So, helpful, glad I've joined the service, but as with anything, some room for improvement.

Easy to read reviews and request a tutor. The tutor we were connecting with got in touch with us the same day. Sessions were started the same week. Awesome!

I've found two tutors via this site, one for Math and one for Korean and both are outstanding teachers. It's a great resource and one that I would use again and again.

First Tutors is a very good site helping people to find tutors in their area. All information is secure with good service before and after finding that special person to tutor you.

FirstTutors platform is the platform for tutors . I listed myself on this platform around 2013/14 and it s been a good 7 years up to now. The Administrators are so professional and the platform works seamlessly. I like it when an email pops in from FirstTutors telling me that a potential student is checking for my availability. Thumbs up FT and keep the good work rolling.

It is a very efficient and lively service to use. I think the model of the students just having to pay a small fee to be introduced to a tutor is an excellent one.

First Tutors recently removed their excellent classroom platform from their site with no prior notification to either the tutors or their students - this was very disappointing. I hope that in future, First Tutors will treat their clients with more consideration and profressionalism.

It works really well. Me as a tutor, have got many students and I think the platform works really well. I would just suggest to add as a mandatory step for the client to do and check the Common Availability as clients ask me almost always what is my availability when they can have easy access to it on the system. That would save a lot of time and help to close a deal faster.

As a tutor, I find the site and the agency superb. Any questions I've ever had have been answered very effectively, and I'm delighted to be working with First Tutors.

Really solid experience with them as a tutor. I've been tutoring through them for 5/6 years now and I've always found the system clear, and it encourages transparency and protection for both the tutor and the tutee.

Their recently launched online teaching platform is also fantastic for any tutors who might have to go away for a few weeks to still be able to tutor students.

Simple process to find a language tutor, even for less popular languages. The web site needs some modernisation work, but the process works well.

First Tutors offer a wonderful service to match potential music students to music tutors. I am really happy with the students who found me on the site and are attending my lessons.
