Firewater Grille Review

We stayed at the Duxton for our 15yr anniversary on Saturday night. We booked into the firewater grille for breakfast and omg they had everything you could want , food was delicious and very well presented. Definitely recommend booking in. We also got the Catch of the day for room service - Grilled snapper with greens , crispy pototoes and a hollandaise sauce , sooo yummm !!!

Would love, to go back to this place, great food and service,if they start accepting certain crypto-currencies as payments, like deep onion, have enough of it and i want to start using it, as i know it will stick around.

Very decent presentation, but lamb was way over med rare (more like med to med well), and the salmon was way too cooked). Oh yeah, understood weeknights are time to train newer staffs, so be prepared for dropped utensils when they're clearing table.

What a beautiful restaurant, with excellent service and glorious food.
It was great to see a stylish interior that also supported good conversation at the table ( no bouncy noises). Finally.

We had a meal on Saturday night at Firewater Grille.
We had a lovely seat next to the waterfall feature with real flame fire .
Best seat in the house!
The service was excellent.
Attentive but not too pushy.
We had 3 courses.
One of the reasons we are there was because they have Chataeubriand on the menu, one of our favourite dishes.
It did not disapoint.
It was EXCELLENT.
All in all a really lovely evening.
Would definitely go there again.

We stayed at the hotel for our wedding anniversary and had dinner at the Firewater Grille one night. It was such a disappointment, we had read great reviews and were really looking forward to it. It was not a busy night but we were seated off to one corner which we didn't mind as it felt more intimate but that was the last we saw of our waiter until we went up and asked if we could order. We ordered our meals and drinks and then the were ignored again until our meals came out, about an hour after we ordered. We finally got our drinks towards the end of our meals. We got offered a discount when we paid but it ruined the night and put us both in a foul mood. The worst was they could not explain the poor service given that there were only a hand full of tables on the night, I should have asked for a full refund but could not be bothered arguing anymore. Sizzler has better service than this place.

Staff are friendly and always willing to assist. There was a wide range of food that should cater for all tastes (including desert).

Absolutely love this restaurant, the food and customer service is amazing every single time! the restaurant is very classy, and romantic. A shoutout to Ioannis, the few times I have been to this restaurant he has been incredibly lovely, welcoming, polite, and very accommodating, I couldn t imagine coming to this restaurant and not seeing him! Also Courtney, she took care of our table and orders most of the night, Lovely girl! Very polite and sweet, lovely manners.
We had the Spiced Chorizo for entree, enough to satisfy but leave you hungry for more, very tasty. We had the Chateaubriand for mains and it is incredible!! Highly recommend, also the dessert plate is the best if you want to try every dessert but in smaller alternatives to the bigger desserts on the menu, so good.

Food was good not great, service was a shambles. After 1 hour of sitting at the table, 3 different people tried to take our food and wine order. Entree and mains arrived at same time. Only go if you have no plans after and want to over pay for average steak.

Highly recommended. Beautiful food, warm environment, good service. Definitely I will come back.

Never disappoints always great food and Iannis is a great host. Fine dining indeed.

We had the set dinner menu as part of our hotel stay package and whilst the choices were a little limited, the food was exceptional and good value as was the glass of house wine which was included. I was surprised how busy the restaurant was for a very wet and windy Monday evening. However, the four dining staff on duty managed extremely well and at all times they were friendly, attentive and professional. Would definitely go back.

We had our 4th year anniversary dinner there, from the staff right down to the food absolutely spectacular. Services was good with our waiter explaining almost every detail of the options that was presented to us. Food was done perfectly and presented well. Prices were slightly above average but worth it, definitely a place to revisit.

We stayed in the Duxton for Christmas night and had a wonderful time. We booked for the evening Christmas Buffet at the Firewater Grille and it was excellent. It was very busy and the atmosphere was lovely. The staff are excellent and we can't praise them enough . The buffet it's self had everything you could want and we had a lovely bottle of wine to go with it. We usually spend Christmas at another hotel in the city but left booking late and as our usual place was full we decided on the Duxton. We will be having Christmas here again as the staff made our stay so enjoyable. Thank you

For $29.95 the weekday lunch buffet was good. Some dishes needed more flavor but overall service was attentive and the atmosphere was nice. Not sure about the hanging animal heads though

A group of us had the NYE buffet before attending the Concert Hall Concert. The staff were attentive and professional. The buffet was of high quality, varied and plentiful. Hope to repeat next year.

I had the game plate, the meat was fantastic and was set upon mushrooms, potato something, and pumpkin mash with truffles that was simply out of this world

A more Formal setting, atmosphere of finer dining, Great food, not cheap but definitely worth every cent. Service was second to none. Entree was Duck liver parfait smooth and airy making it very pleasant. Mains were Perfectly cooked medium rare 200g tenderloin steak & 200g sirloin steak, mashed potatoes and hand cut fries were on another level. Dessert was from memory Tahitian vanilla creme caramel which would have been suitable for a Master Chef finale.

Only negative was parking. Being situated in the Duxton hotel makes parking nearby tricky, unless you willing to pay around $25 for an hour of parking. Despite that negative, not worth scoring anything less than 5 stars. Will definitely be back.

Our first night out after restrictions being eased. What a wonderful stay and great food at The Duxton. Staff were excellent and very professional.

The steak, pasta and seafood here are all top notch, as is the service.

The best steak I have tasted so far in Perth. The staff are all accommodating and made sure that everything is okay. Already planning for another steak night here.

Steak was good but overcooked to liking, But the chips were terrible, the worst I have ever had.

Really fantastic food. The sides, steaks and desserts really exceeded expectations. Very satisfied. The staff were friendly but seemed a bit inexperienced - spilling drinks, dropping cutlery etc. May be a symptom of high turnover in the restaurant

The Father's Day buffet was quite tasty. Pork belly was perfect. Service was good and plates cleared efficiently. Thankfully did not mind my stepsons mistake of thinking an entire piece of brie cheese was a slice of cake . Thank you for a lovely day.

Had the 3 course meal as part of the dinner and accommodation package the food was excellent as was the service, only thing was no potatoes/chips came with the meal it was literally just the meat and 1 piece of brocollini. We asked for some chips which took forever to arrive meaning our meal was cold. I would have thought the meal should have been served with some sort of potatoes but if not the wait staff should have asked if we wanted any for an additional charge which they didn't. Nobody asked after if everything was alright as I would have mentioned then. This does not put me off going again, we still really enjoyed the meal and service.

As much as the flavour combinations were perfect, the texture of the steak was tough and chewy. I'd expect it to almost melt given the price tag and it being a scotch filet.

Everything else was divine, the only downside was the texture of the steak. The flavours were marvellous. I'll eat here again, in the hopes that this experience was a once off blunder.

As a note you must try their Red wine Jus and mash potato, truly to die for.

Dinner was really good quality expensive food, but they are in entertainment book making them more reasonable. I had perfectly down medium rare ribeye with veges on side. Other flavours are mostly finely balanced mild flavours. Decor is modern beige-brown (14 different beige-browns just counted) with modern waterfall. BUT staff contradicted each other when telling me about wine.

Service was poor.
A group of 6 of us went in for some steak.
40 mins into the wait we were told they don t have enough of the ribeye. A little confused why it took so long to inform us. So one of us had to order a tenderloin.
As regarding the cook and temperatures of the steaks it was 50:50. We all ordered the same cook temperature whoever some of ours was way less others were on point.
Turkish bread is useless. Overly toasted with no flavour just crunch.
Waiting staff were not very good at what they did. Our cold drinks had left pools of water on the table. Literally pools of water was just piddling on the table. Is there a dress code? Don t know because we do all sorts of ppl in there some in their flip flops.
Overly priced for the food and experience.

We are lucky abs recently have spent time eating out in Perth. This evening we were recommended to try the Chateaubriand by a lovely waitress. It was magnificent. The softest steak with three great sauces and potatoes. We added a side of vegetables that were just cooked to perfection. Stuffed. The best meal we have had in recent times. Add the Singapore Sling and the Mojito to your order and you will not be disappointed. WOW.

Absolutely loved the ambience at this place, very classy, and the staff were really good too. My wife and I both had steaks which were delicious and perfectly cooked as we requested.

Maybe it's the weekend, but absolutely disappointed with the service. Wait staff (suspect they are part timers) do not know what is the meaning of lactose intolerant, had to ask the staff for bread to be served, the steak was not done to industry standard and generally poor experience.

They only had 4 wait staff excluding the captain. One is the bar tender, one to give out bread ONLY and two waitress who I suspect are part timers to serve a restaurant with at least 15 tables.

Exquisite restaurant! One of the beste services I ever had. Great wine and whiskey selection and delicious food. Steak was great and really not expensive when you consider the quality of the food and the service. Vegetarian meal could have been a bit larger. Fantastic atmosphere in beautifully designed restaurant. Highly recommend!

We've had high tea here a few times now and rate it very highly. Great for adults and kids too. Food is high quality. Staff and service is good. Unfortunately all credit cards incur a surcharge.

We have lunch at the Firewater Grille after Thursday morning concerts next door at the Perth concert hall. The food and service are always great .Ronny looks after us so well that we really look forward to the lunch as much as the concert.

We stayed at the Duxton for 2 nights of celebrating my husband turning 60. On one of the nights we dined at the Firewater Grille. Our meal was absolutely superb. We had the sirloin with mushroom sauce & steamed vegetables in almond butter, and the Spiced lamb rump with crispy anchovies, mustard potato & creamed spinach. Both meals were one of the best we have had in a long while! The meat just melted in your mouth it was that tender & cooked to perfection. The flavours in the sauces exquisite & the vegetables perfectly steamed. Could not fault meal in anyway! We were both too full for dessert but as it was my husband s 60th the waiter bought out a complimentary slice of lemon pie with happy 60th written in chocolate around it. Staff were friendly & attentive without being intrusive. Well done all round to the Duxton

Breakfast buffet quite average. Would not return. Service was very good however the food was bland and uninteresting. I'm yet to find a better breakfast buffet in Perth than Epicurean at Crown Towers especially considering the price is about the same as all other places. You get so much more food AND barista made coffee is included.

Our waiter checked as we were seated if we were going to a show, and remained mindful of our time restrictions allowing us to squeeze in a delicious meal and desert before waddling next door to the concert hall

Amazing Steaks and Wines accompany with fine dining service.
I live in Perth and a steak lover. I have been to many places in Perth for steaks but only Firewater Grille could deliver that mouth watering steak dishes. The steaks cook perfect to order (I like it Medium Rare) every time I came here. It was juicy, and tendered. The burn on the edge of the steak was just perfect. Addition to that is the sauces and mustard selection was delicious. Waiter also offered crack pepper too!! What a fantastic combination. I think the prices is fair for such quality of steak & service.
Not mention the wine menu, even the cheapest wine in there could also pair well with the dish. I recommend to ask the manager for the wine selection if you have a picky taste.

The menu is succinct but effective. It can satisfy most customers. The wine list by the glass is on the other hand rather broad and of good quality. I ate one of the best marinated octopus in my life ..... marinated Fremantle octopus .... really perfect. The meat that followed, although good and cooked according to my request, blue, is by far not in the top list of my culinary experiences, but ... nothing to say except that I have already eaten well better steaks than this one. The wine by the glass whether it is white or red deserves a good note. As for the service, it is professional and excellent. In summary a good address that can be recommended without hesitation.

I have to say the service was second to none our waiter was attentive and nothing was a problem. The food was so good the steak very good, the pork amazing and soft. To top it off they brought out a little cheesecake with a happy birthday for my son which ended the evening on a very high note. Thoroughly recommend this place for any occasion.

We had a fantastic Christmas Eve lunch here! The food was lovely, with a really good variety, in particular the desserts---oh wow! The service was absolutely top notch, attentive and very friendly, particularly since it was so busy. We were impressed and will be looking forward to going back:)

Went with the family 2 kids 9 and 10 y.o. the kids menu was unexpected and what a size burger they got.

My wife and I both ordered the Scotch Fillet and we're both happy.

Missed out on 5 stars due to bread, which you have to pay for and also a really slim slice on butter for the 4 to share.

Other than that would definitely go there again

We had our graduation dinner there. The service was good however the steak wasn't.
I ordered medium well but it taste like overcooked. The sides of the steak are dry and burnt and taste bitter.

We had a booking for 6pm last Sunday and we both ordered Filet Mignon. Ten minutes later we were told that the chef had only one Filet Mignon, so I changed my dish to Scotch Fillet. After repeated requests the meal actually arrived at 7-25pm, almost ninety minutes after we arrived. To make matters worst the Filet Mignon was over cooked and dry. For a major Perth hotel this type of service and food quality is simply not good enough. We get better service and food quality at the local Pub. Raise your game Duxton.
