Excellent experience at Fieldwork. These guys run focus groups for just about everything. If you're interested in participating you can fill out a profile online and then you receive emails when there is a study that matches your profile. Most studies are 1-2 hours long and pay ~ $100. Also the receptionist is great, extremely courteous and helpful.

I am in several databases for different companies. This particular one is hit or miss. I wasted a lot of time going through many questions to be put on hold and the come back and have met their "quota". In other words not want they want. They don't keep track of participation history either. My time is valuable! After getting told they met the quota-I got an email urging me to a survey for that same study!!! I find that rude and unorganized!

I,m disappointed with Fieldwork Minneapolis! I was invited to participate in a focus group that would have necessitated my driving from Brooklyn Park to Edina (a 52 mile round-trip). On a whim, I called to confirm before beginning the drive and was told that the focus group had been postponed. I had received no communication to that effect.

What would have happened if had driven to Fieldwork's office without first checking? That would have been a waste of time and money!

Fieldwork, you need to communicate better with your study participants!

One of the best places to conduct or be a participant in Market Research in the Twin Cities. Their staff is competent and thorough, and they get the job done right.
For participants, they have some of the highest paying studies in the area and they often have very interesting and well-known clients you are offering feedback for.

I had done 3 studies with Fieldwork. I have since removed myself from their list of participants.

This summer I filed out a survey on their site for an upcoming study on women with Osteoporosis. A few days late I was called by a recruiter and interviewed for approx. 30 minutes.
I was then accepted into the trial, given a date and time and place to show up the next month.
In the meantime I did studies with 2 other medical trial study companies.
I arrived at the Worrell Building downtown early. I had been here before. It is a 45 minute drive each way. My vehicle is 15 years old and I can only afford 1 tank of gas a month. So this was a sacrifice for me. But worth the $100 pay after the trial was completed that morning.
I sat in the waiting area and a few people asked me why I was there.
Finally the manager of the building came to talk to me. Having suspected something was wrong, I turned on the video recorder on my iphone. It lasted 12 minutes. He told me I was the 5th person who had come for that trial in the last week. He told me the trial had been cancelled/postponed weeks ago. When he had called Fieldwork, they assured him everyone had been contacted of the cancellation.
Apparently NOT. His guess was that since they used private contractors for the phone work, someone had either gotten sick, been fired, quit, or lied about contacting the people on their list. He was irked that it had happened so many times that week and phoned them again in my presence.
I left and was quite upset. I had another job I could have accepted for that day, but since I had committed myself to Fieldwork, I kept that promise. They, however did not keep theirs.
I called 3 times, each time asking for the Minneapolis Office Manager (I looked her up on the website) and each time I was given to a low level plebe. One tried to keep talking over and shouting at me and blaming me. The next one apologized and assured me that the trial was only postponed and when it started up, they would interview me again. The final one promised they were going to talk to the administrator before the hour was up, and have her call me...if not that day (Friday) then on Saturday morning. (I saw the website said they were closed then but I bit my lips). I was still waiting on Monday. And Tuesday. After hours I left a long voicemail message saying I STILL expected them to compensate me for my time and travel last week. I said it was NOT my mistake and I could prove it. I countered that I had PROOF I was one of a handful of people not contacted about the trial being halted. I could PROVE with my text and phone records that there had been NO incoming communication from Fieldwork since I was accepted into the trial. (They never contact by e mail).
So they played games with me, with my time, with my life and with my finances.
Most people in these trials do it for the money. As a disabled-retired Educator, I was in that category.
But they handled it very poorly, giving various excuses, making accusations, telling lies over and over. NEVER calling me back about my complaint .
So I took myself off their contact lists, and now I am lodging my complaint here to warn others.
IF this company was moral and upright and as good as they appear....I would have been immediately apologized to and compensated.
Not treated so horrendously.
So IF a company SEEMS too good to be true...in Fieldwork Minneapolis case...they are.
WALK away.
There are better companies out there, more professional and reliable:
L&E Research and Focus Pointe Global.

This a great opportunity to make extra money. My only suggestion is when participants fill out a screener-they should be immediately opted out if they don't meet criteria. More specifically there should be way for them to see by their records when a person last participated. Or another option would be to ask that question and check immediately when calling a person to verify eligibility. It is a rather long process to go through EVERY question for nothing. I finally did ask how long I should try between tests and received a vague response of six months

Completely useless. I wasted 20 minutes on the phone today with Paul, and I'm told that that I'm in for a group. Two hours later...I'm called up by Paul and told the group's full. Thanks for nothing. My time would be better served if I start answering the door when Mormons or Jehovah's witnesses knock on the door.

I have worked with fieldwork for many years. Recently I have taken off work to participate in a study, and it was canceled the previous business day. I was not able to work my day job on such short notice, and got zero compensation from fieldwork. I was met with attitude "if you hire someone to do work, and they dont do the work would you pay them?" Well yes if a company invested time I would think they would demand compensation. I had reached out multiple time to Melvin Williamson, and he kept telling me to call back because he had to talk to the project manager. It has been two weeks so I am pretty sure he is just ignoring me now. Point is, money is nice but now I have missed two days of pay. This time of year my family cant afford that. I even had offered to co.e in and do any other studies or any other work for them. It is good money but I would not adjust your schedules because it will screw you over, and they dont care.

This was my second time visiting Fieldwork to take part in their Focus Groups.

Pros: Free food in the lobby/waiting area - sub sandwiches (Jimmy John's style AND plain sliced bread variety), soda, water, coffee. Beautiful remodeled office space with tasteful furnishings. Compensation was excellent for my time - $125 giftcard for an hour and a half.

Cons: Somewhat difficult to locate - office complex is easy to find, but finding the correct building itself is a bit difficult for a first-timer. You're only allowed to attend limited Focus Groups - I've been signed up with them for a year and had two offerings.

*Note: They overbook for Focus Groups under the anticipation that people will No-Show on them. If you're part of the "overbooking" and everyone shows up on time, they send you home with full payment - and you don't even have to spend your hour or two participating!*
