The Ferndale Library is not the largest library, but fits with Ferndale. The collection is still a good size and you are able to check out books from other local libraries and have them delivered to the Ferndale Library to check out. I have never had an issue getting a book that I was looking for. There is also great programming for people of all age including music, children's story time, Adulting 101, classes, gaming for teens, book clubs, etc.
There is plenty of seating available in the main library area and just outside the doors to get work done. There are larger meeting rooms that your can reserve. Depending on the day there are people having meetings, doing activities such as crafts, playing board games or having a get together.
The children's area is in the back corner when you enter the library, we spend a lot of time there. There is only one entrance and exit (besides emergency) which makes it a lot easier to keep track of your little ones. The librarians get to know your family and even greet my toddler by name every time we come in. They are also very knowledgeable about children's books even telling me what book I wanted from the random description I gave them (pig, striped pants, etc). The children's programming is also wonderful. I've been to everything from the baby story time to toddler story time and the music and movement program. Both my child and I have enjoyed them.
The Ferndale Library has probably been one of my favorite libraries in a place that I have lived. The small town feel where they get to know you with still having the services and ability to get books that you would expect from a larger library.
