Excellent public programming and grounds. Buffalo are a serious draw. The cafe is decent food, and it is relatively cheaply priced. The tours are good for all ages, and everyone there is pretty friendly. Unlike other labs in the area, it is pretty open and not a lock and key sort of affair.

Friday Lecture series is great. Interesting topics, engaging lecturers, perfect start time for being able to work, and not worry about traffic having you miss any of the lecture.
The gallery space is also great. Always something new and different to see.

Cool place to bring kids to learn about real life that doesn't involve video games or social media!! You can go in Wilson tower to top floor (15th) and on a clear day you can see Chicago skyline. They have trails for walking/jogging and bike paths too...

More people should learn about this wonderful place. I wish I lived closer to take advantage of the programs that they offer for kids. When we went in it was a self guided tour but you get a very good idea of what they do and why they do it here. A lot of advances in science have been made at this facility. It was also interesting to see the CERN remote control center. Very cool building as well if you are into architecture too. I would strongly suggest checking this out.

Weather Spotter training Day. It can be 5 hours long show. The show runs 2 times on the same day. There were a lot of people there. I got to meet Weather Meteorologist Tom Skilling from Channel WGN 9 News.

Awesome spot. Went here for open house and it was a great time! They were super organized; I mean, go figure - scientists and all. The food they had catered was really good with vegetarian options. Busses ran quickly and everyone seemed to know where to go. I highly recommend!

On our 95 family road trip to Chicago, FermiLab was one of the attractions we visited. It s in the midst of a somewhat agrarian part of Illinois, in particular a bison pasture. The particle accelerator ring lies beneath the ground, and while the bison graze in relative serenity above, the lab performs energetic experiments on the quantum level to piece together the workings of the Universe. The concourse in the building is huge with skylights stories above and offices on multiple balconied levels. I m a bit of a geek so all this interested me to no end!

This place phenomenal science center for anyone who has any interest in science. I was really fortunate to visit and wished had much more than 2 hours I had spent. They are also very visitor friendly and that is a great plus. Plenty o f information for visitors at all levels.

Fun visitor center (great for a day trip with kids)
Buffalo can be hard to find at times, but well worth looking for.

Came here today on a trip with my AP Physics class. We participated through an educational tour taking us through multiple levels of the lab. A couple of our stops included talking to a professional on neutrinos. At the end, we got about an hour in a lecture hall with a physicist to ask questions and he responded at a high school/low-college level. Our tour guide was very nice an extremely informative.

Beautiful to bike through! The prairie is so serene.
The path is quiet and well kept! The top floor museum in the main building is worth it once or twice to understand the types of experiments Fermi lab does and it's impact on our world. I am also a science teacher so I may be biased

What more could you ask for. The cafeteria was plentiful and delicious. The lecture that was given upon astronomy and cosmology was well done and well informed. And the public tour was even better. Unlike a lot of other laboratories, Fermilab is completely public towards people who yearn for more knowledge.

Fermilab is proof our government can do great things not just for us but for all of humanity. They offer excellent science education programs as well. Check out their website for all this amazing lab offers.

Great place to spend the day. Top floor in the main building is now open to the public - you don't have to be with a tour. Bison are out often, lots to do and see especially in the warmer months. Plenty of prairie, woods and an activity center. Plenty is off-limits, but plenty is open as well. Lots of sculptures and cool looking buildings.

Fermilab is a majestic place. The facilities and the expansive grounds evoke a feeling of wonder. What I most admire about Fermilab is that they continue to push the boundaries of cutting edge research. We're very fortunate to have a National laboratory open to the public (thanks to Robert Rathburn Wilson) ! One of the most exciting and challenging subjects they are working on is quantum computing. They have a large computing facility dedicated to this endeavor. Fermilab is collaborating with CalTech to merge the awesome power of quantum computation with the internet. This is a good example of a research endevour that would yield a novel utility if realized. It would certainly change the world.

Meanwhile, high up on Fermilab's priority list is completing construction on the LBNF (Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility). The LBNF is the essential infrastructure for a greater international effort, DUNE (Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment). The LBNF/DUNE "will send neutrinos 800 miles through Earth's mantle to a former gold mine in Lead, South Dakota" (according to the official website). Further insight into the elusive neutrino is necessary to unify the standard model. A firm understanding of neutrino dynamics could present a number of utilities.

If you love science and would enjoy learning about a cutting edge physics research facility visit Fermilab for a tour. You don t have to have a firm grasp of particle physics to appreciate the research being done here. You can marvel at the concepts of muons and neutrinos and have a delightful time exploring and discovering the latest contributions from this unique laboratory. Great fun for adults and curious kids.

I've been there for 3 ask-a-scientist events (Neutrino Oscillations, Amazon cloud computing, and Dark Matter/Energy). The events are great for adults and high schoolers. The topics have been well presented and they all do a great job at fielding questions. They do hard science there so some of the topics are pretty intense, but I've definitely learned something new each time I've attended. The events include a lecture, a tour of the particle accelerator, and ~45 minutes of time to ask the presenter (and the other physicists) questions. It's a really cool place and it's crazy to think it's right down the road from a Pep boys and an outlet mall.

I couldn't believe it when I saw the buffalo. or the arch over the front door. This place is truly magnificent. I spent all days roaming around the fields with the cayotes while doing physics with magnificent people. The Wilson Hall is very tall and worrth seeing! You can feel the energy of the callaborations' collective will. We have to come back.

If you like science, nature, or just doing something out of the ordinary, you'll like Fermilab. I bring my kids to check out something that most will never see--a particle accelerator. People who live near here (myself included) forget about and take for granted that they live so close to a modern marvel. Albeit Cern has taken Femilab's crown as far as accelerators go, Fermilab continues to do extremely cutting edge, and relevant science everyday.

As a science dork, I love being around this place; as a nature lover, I love being around this place; as a dog owner I love taking my dog to the dog training area; and as a father, I love the fact that my kids can learn about the nature of the universe right in my own backyard.

The building is beautiful, and the visitor reception is better than any other science facility that I have seen. I was fortunate enough to be assisted by a wonderful docent, Jane. I hope to be about to visit again!

Amazing experience. My guide was very knowledgeable and the science they do is very interesting. I pray that I can get an internship here. My only complaint is that it's quite far from my house.
