If you're checking reviews to chose a medical aid- DO NOT TAKE THIS ONE. they do not pay members back in time for refunds. Consultants are always giving you excuses. You literally have to fight for anything and everything. I am expecting and it's been the worst experience when it comes to peace of mind with a medical aid especially since we pay so much.

It's been almost one and a half years that my fiance has been waiting for her medical aid card, after many phone calls by her and by myself they kept telling us they sending it to our post box, well that's never happened, so the last phone call we made they promised to send it by courier, that was about four months ago, we are still waiting.
I would hate to see what happens if we actually put in a claim.

I wasn't able to give no stars otherwise that would have been my option! I have had nothing but problems with fedhealth from day one and now I have spinal problems and they feel absolutely nothing and tell me that I would have to basically pay the 'network' hospital R45 000 to have a operation done on my spine useless bunch of people and you ask to speak to somebody and the refer you to somebody else and you keep going in circles, I will be replacing the worst medical aid company with any other medical aid as soon as possible because I feel that medical aid should be there to assist when one has a problem and not make it worse like Fedhealth does.
Pathetic. I have been a member since June and have not once been able to access the Family room or the wallet to see what is going on. I haven't been able to claim any medications whatsoever. Had to pay cash. What is the point of a medical aid if you are going to pay for everything in any case. Not a happy customer!!
I am not a happy customer of Fedhealth, their communications regarding prince increases and assistance are pathetic. I will never again promote them for pensioners. They suspend them without informing them!

Absolutely shocking service. I'm not even a month into my membership and they have shown their absolute unwillingness to help with a simple request. So much so that the phone was put down in my ear when I asked how they can help as COVID cannot still be used as an excuse in level 2.

Chaning payment ammounts and re applying for debits to go off you take our last money outa our account and for what reason, we are not ecen part of your medical scheme for a month now already and docs from your side confirming this!!! Not happy. Have now been moved to a new "vault" system, which now requires me to do transfers on a website that I have been battling to access since registering 2 years ago. I'm too busy for this nonsense. Keep your revolution to yourself thank you very much. I'll be shopping around for other options. I also cant seem to get hold of customer service to change my details. Problem with revolution is you have too many soldiers and too few knowledgeable people running things.

I phoned regarding my Topmed tax certificate being incomplete and having my incorrect ID number on it. I was told that Fedhealth has heard this complaint from alot of previous Topmed members after the merger and that they are looking into the problem but could not provide me with any details to when the tax certificates would be corrected. In the mean time I have to be happy with loosing out on 3.5k worth of tax.
Probably the most useless service we have ever received not only in medical aid but just generally. From menu options that take a decade to get through to unhelpful staff and useless policies as well as having one of the most ridiculous models for their different schemes. We regret the day we left discovery health and joined the circus over at Fed health. I only wish there was an option for 0 starts or negative stars to reflect truly how terrible Fedhelath is at pretty much everything.
Do yourself a favor and stay away, don't even think of touching them with a 10 foot pole.

I was surprised at how much cover I got off my hospital plan. I had some tests done to see if I had ALS, the costs where significant and I was ready to pay 100% but Fedhealth covered me.
I get I don't have comprehensive cover, but the Social team and Call centre have been fantastic since I came on.
Claim department is pathetic. We have submitted claims and motivations for a hospital admission which they decline because of a prescribed condition that has nothing to do with his treatment in hospital. After all this going back and forth its like a auto response with the exact bloody feedback each time. We are changing and moving to a different medical aid!

The most useless medical aid you can possibly find, in 2018 they changed the scheme to "assist" the customer. What it is, is daylight robbery....it only suits Fedhealth, you pay a premium every month but have to pay everything else out of your pocket....this vault thing was a stupid idea.
I m a member and I find that this medical aid is very deceptive. The service is pathetic. We are been ripped off. The change to the new benefit system offers less than the previous. The new vault system is false created mechanism.I have cancelled the medical aid. The company is fooling its membership.

You don t answer queries or solve problems. My husband had an account for R88000.00 in hospital in September of which only R14,000.00 was paid There is still an outstanding amount of R57,658.00. We have hospital, plan but you are not honouring this payment. Why not?

For the past three months they have deducted more than double what I am supposed to be paying for my plan. I have sent multiple emails and spoken to consultants regarding this matter, with no success. Tired of being robbed by my health insurance, will definitely look for a different company.

DO NOT EXPECT ASSISTANCE FROM THEM TO MY DEEPEST REGET DID I JOIN THEM. MEDIHELP WAS EXPENSIVE BUT HAD NO ISSUES, NOW FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SEVEN YEARS I HAD TO ADMIT MY WIFE TO CASUALTIES PAY IN R6400 AS IT'S NOT ON THE HOSPITAL NETWORK WHICH BTW CLOSEST ONE IS NEARLY 400KM AWAY REPORT TO THEM THAT I HAD TO ADMIT HER AT 2 AM IN THE MORNING AND GET THE REPLY OF 3 WORKING DAYS FOR UNDERWRITING FOR APPROVAL IN AN EMERGENCY. CANCELLING THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
We are overall very satisfied with Fedhealth itself. The only complaint we have is when you phone through to the call center with all the options you are to listen to, and then after a few minutes you get cut off after you have explained to them that you are on pay as you go, and asked them to phone you back and they say not at the moment, they are too busy, that is very frustrating. I had to phone to get an authorization number, having been cut off twice, and spent R40,00 on my pay as you go.
I contacted FEDHEALTH BECAUSE I PERTURBED THAT THEY HAD CHARGED MY FULL PAYMENT HOLIDAY AMOUNT TO MY ACCOUNT WHICH CAUSED ME TO BE OVERDRAWN, BUT THEY RECTIFIED IT WITH APOLOGIES. THANK YOU

Worst customer service ever!
Wow I'm not surprised they have a 1,4 star rating. This is honestly the worst medical aid in South Africa. I have been struggling to get a claim processed since August and we're in November now. I didn't even want to be a member but I was moved from Topmed to this pseudo "Medical aid scheme". Their customer care is absolutely pathetic. No one in their call centers seem to know what their doing and the clients are the ones who pay the price. Seeing a doctor or going for blood tests can be stressful on top of that being unable to claim back from your medical aid makes things even worse.
Poor advice, no communication wrt relevant and important need to know facts that impact members. Lacks transparency and cannot be reached - shameful organization that must be be held accountable for their unscrupulous and poor manner
My daughter had her wisdom teeth extracted in hospital. We obtained an authorisation for the Dental Surgery Procedure. The stated co-payment was R6200. Fedhealth approve the dentistry codes, but refuse to pay the dentist making the actual co-payment over R10000.
If there was an option to not give a single star I would. They reject ALL hospitalization and you will find out when its too late!
Fedhealth Is the most disgusting medical aid i was ill been to hospital because they were investigating the hospital sent me home i then get a call from Thandi saying they cant cover because my admission contributes to my 1 year waiting period which is over a weeks timei then said to her if our money is not paid in time we will be suspend i told her to speak to her manager to try and help as it is only one week furekha nagesar which had no heart and said point blank no they dont care for they clients i then i had a credit that needed to be made to me the call centre agents advise i must send my new banking details to them i did it i called over 10 times getting false news leave alone waiting 25 to 30 mins each time uptill now no one knows whats happening you ask to talk to a manger nothing happens worst medical ever

I have been offered many times to change my medical aid to a more affordable medical aid, but I will always remain with Fedhealth. Their service is excellent and accounts are settled promptly. I have never had an issue in all the years I have been with Fedhealth. Highly recommended.
I have advanced prostate cancer and applied for authorisation to receive chemotherapy.
Fedhealth approved this authorisation and made it a seamless process of instituting the claims during the past 3 months of treatment.
I am so grateful to everyone at Fedhealth for this opportunity to fight my cancer and I am acutely aware of how expensive cancer chemotherapy is.

Fedhealth is frustrating me. They have been taking me back and forth regarding information they need for option change. The worst thing is you get different stories all the time. I am so tired of having to call in every other day. I shouldn't have upgraded. I don't see where I am benefiting.
What a useless medical aid. The service you receive from the customer care center is horrible. You hold for almost 30 minutes just to get told, there is no feedback on your claim. That is it. Topmed made a huge mistake to merge with them. After 3 calls and 1.5 hours on my phone. I still don't have feedback as to when my claim is getting refunded. Rediculous
Been with them for 9 years and since the changes they are the worst medical aid around...AVOID DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID GO TO ANY OTHER PROVIDER ... on my why to medshield Friendly warning of these crooks!!!!!!!
I'm paying for medication and consultations and they cant even send you a medical aid card there scheme changed and they don't even contact you and tell you the policy has changed...feel like i have been scammed

It would be greatly appreciated if you could look at the MyFed prescribed medicine option as every time I go collect my prescribed medicine at Dischem/Clicks I always have to check if its covered & nine times out of ten it is not. Thats a major problem for a SASSA pensioner as I don't have the extra funds available.
Mixed opinions honestly, but overall I'd still recommend them they've helped me out of some sticky situations. I'm currently in another sticky situation aswell and awaiting response from them but I'm sure they'll still help me . So yes A++
I have been emailing them on various email addresses since January 2020 regarding a claim. To date I have not had a single response apart from the automated one with a reference number. I have sent so many emails now.... it is absolutely shocking that they have no respect to get back to their clients. They offer no support to clients, just expect you to pay the premium!
If I could get through to someone who knows what is going on in this medical aid it will be a miracle oh but wait not before you wait for an hour to speak to a poorly trained consultant who tells you they only recently found out about the sms line not working since January so I must be the idiot it couldn't possibly be their system that hasn't worked for over a month. I have used Fedhealth for 20 years. From a shaky slow organisation they have become very professional . Easy to contact,and quick to resolve a problem. I really like their Saving Plan.
After an unsatisfactory live chat with one of their consultants online I asked to get a call back. Needless to say the only calls I got was from a number marked as Afrocentric SPAM. I then out of the blue receive an email stating that my membership has been terminated. After querying this a few times I get generic emails and sent a 4 page attachment to fill out my entire medical history in order for them to reinstate my cover. The same cover I never terminated. After submitting a Hello Peter complaint and asking to speak to a senior manager only then was I told that the live chat consultant sent the incorrect message to a Retention agent who then took it upon herself to issue the termination after not being able to reach me on a spam number. Very disappointed.

its the worse medical aid i have come across and i joined a month ago and is cancelling. i will not advise anyone to join Fedhealth they sales team informs you incorrectly and then claims suddenly go missing when its time to pay out.
STAY AWAY. After having countless issues with co-payments for medicines and GP visits (on the so called Saver plan) I eventually gave up and moved to another Medical aid. I gave notice of the Medical aid cancellation on 05 August. I was still debited on 01 October and they REFUSE to give my money back on the basis of a Calendar month notice policy. This after I was told by a contact center agent that September would be the last debit date. Online chat service predictably pathetic. Bunch of crooks.

I enquired about information regarding my tax certificate which was incorrect. The agent immediately referred to tax department. I am however still waiting on feedback from tax department.
Used to be great. I USED TO recommend them. Now I recommend you stay away. They dont pay claims (which are part of the legally prescribed minimum prescribed benefits), dont respond to email and have downgraded my benefits from 200% fedhealth rates to 100% fedhealth rates without giving me nottice or getting my consent. Getting medical aid from the mafia would be a better idea.

Been through a bad accident and had no problems with getting the hospitals paid. Being taken to a good hospital because I was on fedhealth saved my life.
Absolute waste of money. They just take your payment, but block you as soon as you need to claim. Even the hospitals that they send you too like Christian Barnard they don't cover. They don't even call you back as the customer. I call on everyone who had to go through this to start legal proceedings, since you pay for a service that you never receive. Fedhealth is a fraud.
I recently had an interaction with an Agent at the Fedhealth Chronic Call Centre. She was very helpful friendly and professional. I think Fedhealth will become a force to be reckoned with in the industry if they give excellent service like this.
As far as medical aids go, with all their hangups and regulations, I am very happy with Fedhealth as a whole. Queries gets resolved fast and claims gets paid out quickly. They just need to relook their cover for certain non-invasive testing for pregnant women, but in general very good. Please don't become idiots like Discovery!

My general experience with Fedhealth has been extremely positive, hence my rating. It has just been spoilt by Lerato who did a reconciliation. You can possibly listen to the conversation yesterday aft at about 16;20. I told her that it was late on a Friday afternoon, I had just arrived home from a 700km drive from Kruger Park, did not have my computer set up and was tired and asked if we could reschedule her to call me on Monday. She just carried on and when I stopped her told me " I dont have the time to phone you back again" or words to that effect. I will NOT, as your client, be spoken to like that. She can call back however many times it takes to sort this out and at a time that is convenient to me. You people messed this up - NOT ME . I expect someone who is her senior to phone me !!!!

Was extremely satisfied with profesionalism of the agent assisted me. But was just little bit perturbed by the long waiting listing for the voice promt of the answering machine, though the assistance given by the the agent and the passion shown in assisting taken all that away and just soothe my heart.
We have been members for almost 15 years and never had cause for complaint. Any medical problems have been dealt with swiftly and efficiently. Both my wife and myself have unfortunately been hospitalized and the care and treatment was exceptional. Calling the help lines with queries are always dealt with by well trained staff.
Worst service ever!apparently i owe Fedhealth R300 which i payed and sent my account for ITC .When i calked the credit dept I was told I do not owe Fedhealth yet my name is at the ITC none of the agents can explain all i get it's "sorry mam yoyr situation is puzzling"
