Walking in I loved the ambiance, we were able to sit where ever we wanted and Alicia was so sweet. Her service was impeccable and the food came out in a timely manner. I recommend the chicken empanadas for an appetizer and the salmon as a entree. With out a doubt I will definetly come back to enjoy another meal!

Really homey spot to meet up with people. Friendly atmosphere. No pressure to order anything big, and it is especially pleasant to visit during the warm weather. Tres leches is my go to dessert!
I traveled from Philadelphia for a concert here in NY tonight but first thing was I had to make sure I came back for a certain dish I ve had here before. You ever have a meal change your life? Well this one did. My friend & I took a $30 More
This place is the best kept secret in NYC ! Their happy hour is fantastic. The food was awesome and you can't beat the prices. The service was excellent and the staff was really friendly. They have $5 appetizers and everyone raved about their mojito. We sat outside, but inside they had live music and dancing. If you are looking for great food and a great time, look no further than Favela Cubana.
10 days in New York and this was the best food we ate and so close to Stonewall and Washington Square Park! Service was prompt, and the interior is quirky and true to the Cuban vibe. Hope to visit again!
The food was good, and the prices reasonable for the area. Unfortunately the service was -slooow-. We were there around 5:30pm on a Saturday happy hour. As expected for that time, the place was only 1/2 full, not busy at all. While drinks and appetizers came out fairly quickly, our table's mains took 40+ minutes to arrive. Our dessert even took more than 10 minutes, and dessert is by definition premade and ready to quickly serve.
I was disappointed with the quality of the food at Favela Cubana. For appetizers my friend and I ordered the cod fish croquettes and chorizo croquettes. Although cod fish is typically salty, it's usually not served like a block of salt. The croquettes were so salty my blood pressure sky rocketed. The chorizo ones were over fried and had a weird taste. For main course we ordered the feijoada, which was tasty but didn't have enough bean broth ( a matter of personal taste). For dessert we had the tres leches, which was basically pound cake with some carnation milk at the bottom, truly disgusting. The happy hour margaritas were good; however, I was charged for eight when my friend and I only had 6 (we were not drunk at all but nice try!). The bill was corrected. Our waiter had a snobby attitude which affected his commission and certainly contributed to the review of the restaurant.
I will not be returning to Favela Cubana nor do I recommend it. Any person giving a good review to this place, has not been exposed to authentic Brazilian food.
Wandering through the streets of Manhatten very hungry looking for a decent place to eat. I wanted to try something new but time was running out as it was getting late. Showed up right before they closed the kitchen. Service was great and the food was very good but pricey.
The steak sandwich was out of this world. Imagine a panini with medium/ medium rare steak on the inside. The caipirinha was well made with the perfect amount of sugar.
I was impressed by this restaurant! The food is delicious - I just came back from Cuba, and they can legitimately call it Cuban restaurant! Try the gaucho steak! The setting is great and the waiters, some being cuban themselves, are devoted. 5* without a doubt.
The wait staff was very friendly (we sat down during Sunday Happy Hour). The crowd was boisterous, but also friendly.
The house red wine (by the glass) was nothing special. Also the glass was filled almost to the top - no room for bouquet.
The Ropa Vieja was served in 3 separate presentations - a small bowl with the pulled beef, white rice & black beans in two separate bowls. I would have preferred one large bowl for combining all three. First rate comfort food.
We also ordered Camarao a Baiana. The shrimp were pleasingly large. The sauce (orange in color) featured coconut milk. This was the tastiest dish in our order.
For the record, we ordered Bolinho de Bacalhau - cod fish cakes (a bit too much bread).
The ambience (friendly crowd, happy wait staff) is a strong draw.
The food was ok. We tried Cuban food for the first time and it has not really "packed" us now. The portions are rather small for the price. The staff was very nice.
Drinks were good, food came out quick, and servers were on point. There's indoor and outdoor sitting. The happy hour menu has a few food items not available on the main menu, but the items that are available on both cost the same.
We love going out. Last night we arrived in this magnificent restaurant which friends told us about. We had a delightful time there with high-qulity cooking and a well-trained team and a professional cuisine. We added this fine restaurant in our list and we shall no doubt come back very soon. We warmly recommend.
New favorite place. Very relaxed atmosphere. Excellent and friendly service. Happy Hour a must. Passion fruit mojitos or margaritas highly recommended. Food is excellent.
I went to favela cubana last night.. what a disappointment, the food was Okay..well mediocre at its best.. portion was a bit small, servers were nice..but my biggest disappointment with this place was the overpriced drinks...I had a sangria brought to me in a 6 oz wine glass that was filled with ice ..I looked at the server and questioned the glass her response was ..yeah sorry I know is just filled with ice I'm sorry. Well I decided to get another glass to see if it was going to be different..nah..the same..I ended up getting a draft beer. My Honest opinion this place is not an authentic Cuban or Brazilian.. don't waste your time and money here
First time customer. We were a party of 10. We wanted to have the drink special for some of us. Waitress told us since some of us were not going to order the drink special, we had all to switch seats. So strange! It took almost an hour for our order to be taken. Water was barely refilled. BAthrooms were clean. My soup was not hot. Very disappointed at the lack of customer service. Will not return.
The place offers an awesome variety of fresh food. I enjoyed dining here. Employees are always friendly, pricing is convenient and the place is always well organised.
Delicious! I ve eaten here twice with my Aunt who lives around the corner. She s in her 90s and the staff has been patient and kind with her. Both time the food was yummy, the portions filling and reasonably priced. We will come again!
The atmosphere is half the place to eat ... Overall, everything was delicious! The meat was smooth and tasty, and the seafood was not spicy. The server was nice and the inside of the restaurant and the bathroom were neat. I recommend eating more at the table than you personally!
Favela Cubana is a great spot! Pleasantly surprised when I stopped in on a Thursday and found they have no cover and free live music every Thursday. We had a great time - good food and atmosphere and we danced the night away there too! 2 Thumbs up from us!
2 guests ..Got there at 1130pm and only had 5 minutes to order before the kitchen closed. Ordered..... Food received within 15 minutes, check received 10 minutes after receiving the food :-/This place supposedly closes at 1am, it appears since there was a party being held here, we were being rushed to eat then leave. I highly DOUBT I would go back here.
I can come here a million times and I'll never get tired of the food. I'm already getting hungry thinking about it! My favorite dish is the Ropa Vieja. I've probably had lunch here 50+ times and I still crave it just as much. The service is good. The food is already good. I got the tostones once and it did not disappoint. During the summer, there's outdoor seating, which is always a plus. What's better than sitting outside on a warm, sunny day while drinking a margarita and eating cuban food? Favela Cubana, you never disappoint.
I love this restaurant! They have splendid dishes, they have a rich menu, The cook in that place is a professional, I enjoy a lot eating all their dishes. The dishes are consistently tasty, the attitude towards the clients is very good too. I frequently visit this place and I was never unsatisfied. I recommend this place.
I really loved their dishes. I always get excellent service here. The place is neat and the workers are always very kind. I highly recommend this place.
Very well made drinks, good food and a free dessert for writing a review on Yelp. I had a sangria and a mojito and they were both perfectly made. The staff was attentive and quick.
I tried convincing them for Google reviews but wrote one on Yelp as well for the free dessert. The dessert was average but I won't take away a star for that.
The drinks are the highlight of this place! The food is ok. I got the chicken soup and Cuban sandwich with a side of tostones. The soup was fabulous but the Cuban was just ok. Tostones were great and the sauce was amazing. Overall the spot is ok if you wanna hop in for a quick snack and drinks.
4 stars for their Cuban food: ropa vieja, yucca fries, maduros and tostones as well as the mojito. But the Brazilian food was disappointing: feijoada was good but I didn't like the pao de queijo (too chewy) and the caipirinha (made with liquid sugar).
We ordered the caban sandwiches and egg& steak. The steak is okay but the fries from the sides are to dry. The sandwiches are dry as well. The dining atmosphere is nice but the food is nothing special.
I love this spot! They serve high quality meals, their menu is large, The chief cook in that spot is very trained, I like a lot tasting all their dishes. The dishes are always fresh, the service towards the clients is nice. I often eat in this place and I not even once was discontended. I highly recommend it.
Great place to eat. Good atmosphere and also great location. The server Juan was amazing he was a great at giving advice for options to select from. They also have an amazing hot sauce it s a habanero sauce super super hot! But really goood definitely ask for this if you want some extra spice to your food. Love it definitely coming back
The place is amazing and broad, the meals was enchanting and the rates were very inexpensive. quick, productive service and very friendly waiters. I recommend this place.
I was not impressed. The eggs on m Benedict were overcooked and there was the smallest amount of hollandaise possible. The "Cuban beer" is not actually Cuban, but an American "Cuban style" beer. I would not come again.
I like the fact that you can make reservations for 15 people. Waitress was kind and the service was quick. The food was ok but that was my fault should've went for something else. I would recommend for large group dinners. The place is really nice and nicely dimmed at night. I
Great value and service. A little flavor of Cuban atmosphere in Greenwich Village. The hostess recommended the maduros as a side, and they were fantastic.
This spot is my favored. I eat in a lot of restaurants but here I constantly return again and again. The stuff is very welcoming and the cuisine they cook is so good. I am always happy to have a good meal here. I recommend this place with pleasure.
Favorite restaurant in the city. Food is delicious, I love the music, nice quite and calm area, clean, very friendly staff, perfect price range. I am always relaxed and bliss when I am here. My wife and I love it.
The Bolinho de Bacalhau doesn't really taste like if it was made with a good Bacalhau. The Yucca Fries that comes on the side of the Gaucho Steak was terrible and the Chimichurri wasn't good at all. The only think that worth the visit was the Steak itself. Disappointed!
